Agree with Dolan on three to four year plan! Plus we'll have a few of the youngsters breaking through. The owners are ambitious and that is being reflected on the pitch.
El Ghazi was brilliant, always can get us a goal or two. He's another massively improved player to last season!
His fitness is unreal as well, where he didn't track back in previous seasons he has totally changed that aspect and I watched him track Costa I think against Leeds and he was superb
He's played well every time we've needed him. But whenever we play him outside of an injury crisis he seems to play averagely.
Sheffield Utd won't be as easy as fans think it will be.
I really hope Barkley doesn't get put back into the first eleven. Make him work for his place!
We need a bit of steel in midfield, pardon the pun but I would bring in Luiz for Ramsey and throw SJM further forward?

El Ghazi is a confidence player and he knows that Jack will be first choice but to drop for a 50/50 would be very harsh and is likely to have a negative effect on him.
I would like to see the same team with Sanson possibly coming in for Ramsey or McGinn.
Traore didnt have the best game against Leeds but that was in part do to the cover he was doing for Elmo which was needed.
If it wasn’t for Grealish I agree with Dolan on Targett for player of the season. Even Emi has had a stinker, I can’t remember Targett putting a foot wrong from Sheffield United through to now. Exceptional.

I think it will be same team with the same result as in clean sheet with a 1 or 2 goals do not expect Sheffield United to be easy to beat. I do feel for them and wilder because they are not giving him the same involvement in transfers and other off field stuff aswell as the biggy in the wealth stakes I've read that villa's owners are the 3rd richest in personal fortune its only fair play that restricts us but obviously the longer we are in the prem the more we can legally spend but Sheffield United just don't have that clout.... yes feel sorry for them but ASTON VILLA NEED 3 MASSIVE POINTS TOMORROW AND ANOTHER DOGGED PERFORMANCE LIKE LEEDS BECAUSE THEY ARE THE GAMES THAT WE NEED TO TRULY GET USED TO WINNING.... There have been games we should have won and didn’t! I’m nervous about Sheffield because it would be typical of Villa to lose. However, after the Leeds game I just hope we do it! 🤞
we have some real quality in the u-23s will be like big signings when they step up and every player has improved massively in the last year. onwards and upwards UTV!
Something should be noted, El Ghazi's set piece's from free's and corner's look very dangerous so kudos to him, we look like we might score with his deliverances
The way he strikes the ball on corners is class. The way he drives the ball in with dip is exactly what you want. Our only problem is we never trouble the keeper from them. It’s strange because Konsa and Mings are both very tall and good in the air!
I can’t put my finger on why we never look dangerous from corners or free kicks around the box. It should be something we focus on because the amount of fouls Grealish wins would give us a big advantage if we could start to score from them.
We have scored 10 goals from set pieces this season I believe, how many last season? Imagine if Mings and Konsa could add to our goal tally as well. They have both been close the past few games

I suppose AE Goal against Leeds would still count as a set play goal as it did come from a corner. Which is different to what I mean. It just looks like we don’t win the first ball when it’s crossed into the box.
That’s my point exactly with regards to Mings and Konsa. They should be able to cause more problems from corners and score a few more goals. That’s not me knocking them, I think they have both been fantastic this year and keeping 12 or 13 clean sheets (so far) goes to show just what they offer defensively. On that point, they are very good at winning headers in our own box. Look at their aerial duals stats. They are very good yet they fluff their headers in the opponents box!
You watch them both score with headers against Leeds! I hope they make me eat my own words! 😄
@@nathanmoore7120 I didn't think you were knocking them by the way, I just can't believe that we have got into double figures this season as I always have this feeling we are poor on set pieces. Mings and Konsa are so close to scoring and I'm sure that gets worked on at BH. Especially with the fact they have JT who was a bit of a pro at Chelsea from set pieces. These are the marginal gains that will set us apart from the middle of the table teams if we can get them right

We have 6 quality mids now, its so hard to know which 3 should start. Strangely is nakamba the most important? That defensive diamond of martinez mings konsa nakamba has yet to conceded a goal............surely he starts. In smith I trust though.

It could be a scrappy game- Luiz and Nakamba at CDM with McGinn pushing forward. Trez and El Ghazi on either flank UTV
Sometimes feel like we should try an extra midfielder and drop a forward because we get swamped in midfield.
I would stick with the same line up against Leeds for the Sheff Utd game.
It would be prime Villa to not get a result tonight. However, Sanson should definitely start ahead of Barkley, Barkley has shown so little in the last few weeks, Sanson deserves his opportunity to show what he can do from the start. I would also keep Nakamba in the side, he breaks things up superbly away from home. I think we will win 0-1 again. UTV.
Grealish can play anywhere. No10 should be his position anyway!!!
Not sure you could describe anything about Villa's performance on Saturday as brilliant. It was more of a dogged defensive determination and scrapping for everything near our penalty area. A brilliant outcome but not really a brilliant performance. UTV VTID
This is why talk of top 6-7 is fanciful to me. Performances need to get back to something like at the start of the campaign, to even dream of that. TBF we have been resolute of late and won points from seemingly tricky looking fixtures, but not because we have outplayed teams. More to do with their own inability to open us up.
I considered the 1-0 away wins to Leicester + Southampton superb! Same with the Arsenal home game , when you consider their results since the trip to Villa Park. AC Milan + Juventus dominated Italy for decades and would be proud of those types of performances. Defensive performances can still be skilful and take extreme concentration + organistation.
Yeah i love a flowing 3-0 or 7-2 against the champions, but its difficult to hammer teams on any given day. Let alone week after week. Especially without the star creative players starting! Rotation and adaptation with the strong defensive foundation gets you results + 3 points. Something we couldnt muster at this stage last season and is still the priority, while the youngsters are still learning and progressing.
We’re 8th with a game in hand tbf. It’s very possible I think. If we won both our games in hand we’d be fourth!
@@francisc8846 I would have took a 1-0 win to Villa tonight. Those are the fine margins when you dont take your chances in the PL. We shouldnt look for Europe just yet because it could cost us our PL status. We still are early in the process of establishing ourselves back in this league. If they keep working and learning we can get there eventually. UTV!

@@danielhughes7228 if we win it will probably be an ugly one but I would love to see Jacob Ramsey start as well as Nakamba. We have kept clean sheets each time he has played I believe and that's massive. He does the dull part of the game very well and doesn't give away as many free kicks as DL IMO

Difficult game. They beat manu u and made it hard for liverpool.Barkley should stay on the bench. No Grealish or Cash. Ramsdale is a good gk btw.
you mention Douglas Luiz only being young as if we're gonna get a few years of service from him and Man City arent gonna take him from us.
I dont think Man City will think he's worth £35m. He's now not really a consistent starter for us whereas they are looking to win CL...

Jack would cost 100 million. Plus he's gonna be on 200 grand a week. So a club is gonna have to stump up around 200 million for 4/5 years for him. He's going nowhere

Players determine whether a team sells just as much as the backroom. If a coveted player wants out, he’ll go. My sense is these players see something special happening at Villa. Hopefully they’ll stay for awhile.
