Miata will be fine. Audi not so sure. 🐢 Stay safe guys!
Thanks Steve! This trip has been INSANE... last leg coming up
Or VW 😅 ask me how I know 😂
LOL, when folks just don't understand how durable Miatas are. 150k is just halfway through normal life.
Mine has 250k should I be worried lol
Mine has 300k, 150k is only like a third of normal life
Picking up a 96 bone stock with 112k, good find?
So I shouldn't buy a miata with 300k miles? What could go wrong? What if I get a new engine and tranny? I never understood the fear of milage. Does the Chassis
Does the chassis break at 300k? What's not replaceable? BC I've had to replace a water pump at water less miles so. Oh well.
I drive a Miata everyday, and it's the most reliable car I've ever driven.
Real shit
i daily my NA8 with 216k, but boy does that oil pressure gauge scare the hell out of me on hour+ trips at 80mph on the interstate.
sidsyz85 haha what happens to your oil pressure gauge?? I also have 216k miles im less that 50 from 217k lol
the car will mysteriously lose oil pressure and start ticking up top quick on some of my commutes but not all(2.5hr 170mi. 1 way then back), if it drops below 30psi at 4k rpm which is about 80mph- i know it's knocking but road noise masks it and have to pull over immediately. went from semi syn to full syn oil and now I get a steady 45psi at 4k rpm.
sidsyz85 Damn long daily commute!!! lol
My Miata has 240k on it. I plan on having it forever. 1995 m edition
This reminded me of when my wife and I got married and relocated from eastern Kentucky to San Diego in my 92 Miata to live for a year. Love and respect those early Miatas.
British Roadster + Japanese Reliability = BEST CAR EVER!!!
I have faith in the miata. Answer is always miata
Hell Yeah!!!
Honestly I would be more worried about the audi having some problem that costs 2k to repair lmao
BagelBytes 😁😁😁😁😀😂
Exactly!!! 180k ish miles is nothing for a Miata
Been there done that lol
I've driven my 94 miata at 220k from Virginia Beach Virginia to Anaheim California then a year later drove it back to Virginia Beach. I still daily drive the car with zero issues. I paid about $193-197 in gas each way
Might want to try to run a slightly heavier weight oil in the Miata. Also might want to pull the plugs at some point and inspect them.
Same with the pistons, rods, injectors, etc... lel
I did New Jersey to Winnipeg in a '93 with 189,000mi and no support vehicle. Fuel gauge didn't work when it got hot, fuel tank leaked, broken end link at each end, leaking coolant and overheated over 3000rpm during the day. Made it in 2.5 days with no issue, just discomfort. You'll be fine.
firelizard2 I'm from Winnipeg and I'm taking my 91 with 220xxx km from Winnipeg to the west coast and down to Cali in Sept. That will be a drive
@@spencemichaud2510 Did it end well??
LOL., Support car, the Audio A4... gem! I love it. This should be fun!
Audio ?
@@exquisitedark yes. Is special type of audi
Miata is going to make it, I have faith!
I took a 4 hour trip in an NC miata in the summer 90 degrees top down the whole time. I didn't realize how burned one side of me was till the next day.
I remember getting very crispy on this trip 😂
@@TedwardDrives 😂😂, love your channel I found it about a week ago and have already watch quite a few videos lol
NA Miatas will be more expensive than this A4 one day
Not if we take good care of them and prevent them from becoming really rare
called it
Who ever said a Miata was not reliable car now an Audi is a whole different story lol!
A few weeks ago I did Denver to ABQ to Phoenix and finally LA.
My 90 NA with 210,xxx hadn't been run in two years and overheats constantly because the temp fan wont turn on. So I have to run the heat on full blast to keep the heat down.
Pulls like a champ all day everyday. The desert from Phoenix to LA sucked because it was so hot, inside my car. Would do it again.
Miata is always the answer.
I've driven my 94 miata with 320k miles on it from Virginia beach, va to Anaheim, California without any issues. Drove it back to Virginia when I moved back. Again no issues. That was 3 years ago. The engine blew about 6 months back in va. It now has a low mile engine and is still my daily. Good times.
Any transmission problems
why do think miata are unreliable ive got a 91 one with nearly 180000 miles still running fine as long as look after a car it'll keep on running
Aaron Hurst Nobody thinks the Miata is unreliable, idk if they were ignorant or just trying to hype the video...
I can honestly say as an owner of both of these vehicles , my Miata is wayyyyyy more reliable. I own a 2009 Audi A4 with 59,000 miles to start and a 2001 Miata with 186,000 miles. I’ve spent twice as much more on repairs in the Audi than the entire car of the Miata cost me in the past 2 years. I actually plan to get rid of the Audi and make my $2,200 Miata my daily driver. I will never own anything German ever again as it was the 4th German car to give me or my family issues.
This roadster ist brilliant. You Guys having a great Time driving this. Loves to watch your trip.
Miata will live
Hell I took my old 95 Miata from Chattanooga TN to San Diego California with over 270k miles and it made it there and back just fine no issues at all.
150K miles and you're worried? Mine's at 250K with a supercharger just bolted on.
on this week's episode of roadk.... oh wait sorry wrong channel
Very good content! Keep on doing interesting videos like this !
There are a few track cars in that ClassicBMW trailer. They all raced at Limerock Park during Memorial Day Weekend.
That fly-by at @3:52 :D
Tedward that's a really nice boat I would give up for you if your car is up for that but boating in New Hampshire can't be all that much fun it's a little on the cold side. have a good one.
150k miles for 1500 bucks for a running miata is an insane deal. where i live i cant even find a miata that has a title for less than 3k and they all have 220k miles or more and dont run
*inserts $1*
Sure it'll make it! Go miata go!
I'm thinking the Miata does 1500 miles before the oil is changed completely from consumption :)
Ooh, that sun in the hair at 8:05!
People honestly underestimate how some cheap cars can be reliable, miatas , mini trucks their typical lifespan hit over 200k, if you take care of that miata itll hit over 200k easily
I drove a $1,000 Ford Thunderbird from Addison Wisconsin to LA last December, made it no problem!
The classic BMW trucks belong to a dealership here in Plano tx that has a few race teams so most likely they were going to or from a race
Thanks for the info! No one ever had answers for us
Whatever happened to this miata? Watched this series a couple times now and I'm curious 😂
You should be the one driving the Miata, Ted!
this is nothing like the falls in lowell.
most shocking thing was the fact that the miata was 1400 i ve been trying to buy one for 2 years now and their all 5,000 stock and high miles
150,000mi?
Oh yeah it should be fine the whole way through, looked like it had 250k miles pleasantly shocked it had that much less.
Thing was BEAT for 150k
I just did New Haven, Ct. to Tampa,Fla. & back in my 95 Miata with cruise control on 80m.p.h. and A/C on & not a single issue.
Their bulletproof !
Hell Yeah! I'm actually flying to Tampa tonight to drive back to Boston this weekend. Did you take 95 the whole way?
You might wanna use the miata as the support vehice for the Audi ! And yes ,I took 95 on the way back . It was smooth sailing except for the beltway around D.C. . Avoud that at any cost , the traffic was horrendous . .I hit it at rush hour . Do it LATE at night or avoid it all together .
Have a safe journey . " ZOOM-ZOOM "
Tedward yeah , I took I-95 on the return trip .
Thanks for the tips! This run will be in a focus ST...It's anybody's guess if she makes it =p
why do u only have 3k subs? ill sub now so when you get big i can say ive been here since 3k
Hell yeah man!!!! Tell your friends haha
This aged well
Dope
Currently at leg 1 and I'm betting it makes it all the way 😉
Mine is 154k miles and im turboing it next week
What part of MA you guys from? I'm in the western portion near springfield.
We're from Boston! If you see me at a show come say hi
Are you going to pass through Phoenix? I mean, I wouldn't blame you if you actively avoided the city, but...
Going to be going Colorado -> Utah through to Nevada
If the hoses haven't been replaced I FORESEE PROBLEMS haha (from experience)
Just bought a 1990 NA with 150k runs great shocks on it need replacing asap but overall loving it as a daily
Thats sick! my only issue with DD-ing these is safety lol... It's pretty small =p
Lol yeah I need to invest in a roll bar it's not much but better than just my stock soft top lol
When you're driving next to an F150 you realize how easy it would be to get smushed haha. You have to drive NA miata like its a motorcycle and everyone is out to get ya!
Haha! Amazing!
i think it's gonna make it all the way because miata is the shit 🤘🏾
I just found this so before I watch anymore I say the Miata makes it. However, the fact that I have a 96 sitting outside may possibly make me biased.
I'm glad you found it! Enjoy the series...we sure as hell loved the drive
nice
Awesome. :)
If it's been well maintained, it should make it there and back. :)
Stop by the Bay Area on the way and make this even longer haha
Just watch out for the hypodermic needles and feces.
Im from nz ive never been to usa and i used to think Niagara Falls was Viagra Falls
Oh its a 1.8? It'll be fine
why is the headlight up? it's creating drag...
+adtc true! It was broken.
Tedward unplug the headlight motor and wind them down
It's a Miata, why wouldn't you have the headlights up
Without watching the video I can tell you It will make it just fine. Just keep an eye on the oil.
So did the Audi make it ? Hope the dsg held up ok
it survived! it was actually a manual (with the worlds heaviest flywheel)
Miata will make it , HAVE FAITH , just do a tune up
I give you a very useful advise, when you edit your videos make sure to boot background audio to maximum level at random places in time line and reduce vocals to level where there are barely hearable.
This video is like 6 years old 😂
@@TedwardDrives graphics are good for that age
Why did you not continue this?
There’s 6 episodes and we finished in LA
What is the song/music at 1:19 ??? Anyone please :)
Found it /watch?v=SiYM3rUAdWc if anyone else wants it :D
this is what i want to do, but without a support vehicle, and with an excocet(spelling?) miata.
I'd drive the NA Miata if it were just a bit roomier... like the NC.
いい音してるね !!
i'm betting on the miata, no sweat.
Hahahahaha this is great
Bet Miata makes it the whole way.
Weren’t the original road runners only made in 1990?
Like Plymouth road runners? Those were made in the 60s
The one thing you should always do with a Miata that has a lot of mileage…change that thermostat…💥it’s the one thing that can blow your day and possibly your engine…l know 2 people who fried the engine and got stuck miles away from home because of the thermostat….just had mine changed at 65 grand on my silver 2004 …
Hehe Great video
Thanks Pete...that whole trip was amazing
the answer is always..miata :)
My Miata has over 200k and running strong :)
lol hopefully the miata has cruise control
if you push the gas pedal allllll the way down, thats basically cruise control haha. God it would have been nice to have it tho!
Cambridgeeee
Doesnt ur miata overheat when ur crushing at 4k rpms for like an hour
we were shocked...but never. We even drove it at redline in 5th gear for about an hour. no issues
Oh ok thanks
R.I.P. to your back
Still in recovery
I feel bad for that Miata driver lol. Bring a spare alternator
she's going all the way with only minor repairs I bet
+cody brennan enjoy the series Cody!
so did the Audi survive ??? lol
I kinda wish it died lol
Keep oil in it, and itll be aight.
Most vehicles without a reputation for breaking down a la ducatti motorcycles style should last you at least 150k miles
An Audi as a "support" vehicle. HAHAHAHA
I WAS GOING TO BUY THIS
haha thats awesome! You from Mass?
Tedward New Hampshire, you bought it at the place in Derry?
With all the miata
YummyYfz450 not totally sure. I'll ask Maddox since he owns the car
Keep the oil topped up..don't beat the clutch..Miata just fine for the round trip...I would be more concerned about the Audi
The Miata a better build! Japanese got the design right. Porsche drivers are
rife with IMS bearing failures, at under 70K. WTF?
You gotta see the falls from the Canadian side. 10x better
I hope miatas wont get pricey when I grow up, I would love a na or nb
Darkn't stilln't uploadingn't they will
Wow I'm here from the future, sorry bro they pricey now
Lol my Miata had 300,000+ miles
My miata was $1500
2002 Miata, $2000
If anything is going to die it is your audi.
haha we were all thinking this before we set off
my laptop cost just as much as the car
Will the Miata make it to California? Yeah I think so. Fuel economy comparison to California? I think the Audi is going to win.
OMG what with people putting Music over everything.
David is hot
I had a 2004 Mazda 6 for 10 years that never had any issues and I drove it hard. I then got a 2011 Audi A4 and it burned so much oil I had to add some every fuel fill up. The turbo also acted weird and eventually the cylinder head failed which was a $5000 repair. It wasn't even an old car but I sold that piece of shit last year. Audis are sexy cars but unreliable. Regret selling the Mazda though. I live in Niagara Falls, Canada and we got a way better view on this side lol
miata is getting bad mileage because of the speed you were traveling, i bet it would get just as much if not better gas mileage then the audi if you were going 55-65 mph
James King - Yep 55-60mph they should get 37-45mpg. It would also help if they put those lights down, as they are causing more drag and wasting fuel.
