I drove from Brum to Antalya Türkiye and back in my 140k mile 17 year old MX5 NC sport covering almost 6000miles without a glitch, excellent handling and brakes, smooth ride - averaging 42mpg and not a drop of oil consumed - this car is one amazing tourer, dependable and better reliability than my Audi Q and Range Rover that can also put a smile on your face through country winding roads unlike my boring stodgy SUV’s.
I have a nc miata as well and next summer I have a plan to make a trip to Antalya from Essen Germany. Which would be around 8000km. I actually have some doubts in my mind. My car is 18 years old and it has 170.000km on it (around 105k miles) It is actually my weekend car and I drive it not so often. It has been 7-8 months since I bought her and I made only 2000 kilometers. Now I am preparing this trip. So far the car works fine, I had no engine issues, I just replaced the tires. Do you have any recommendations? I'll pay attention to oil level, and on the highway I don't push her actually, mine has 2.0 engine with 6 speed and I cruise around 120-130km per hour. So engine rev would be around 3000-3500.
@@TRPGpilot hey, yes car had no issues at all, 9000km not a single issue. I just checked the oil level in every 1000km. My car was burning 1l for 4000km. Other than that it was a great experience
This looks like it was a great road trip! Better in summer but good scenery and nice cars to do it in… and they both had cruise control for those long motorway stretches?
What would I say? I hope I would overcome my anxiety and worries and say yes, or I would for sure regret it for years. But looks like it was an experience for sure, Hope it was lots of fun. And I enjoyed all the 51+ minutes of the video in case you wonder.
I took my motorbike from Switzerland none stop to crianlarich then back to Edinburgh in my country Scotland with only a stop for the ferry calais dover now that was a trek.
I'm glad that went so well. Cars of this age have usually had at least one careless owner, and the lack of oil in the first car suggests that. What do you reckon the road trip part of the trip cost roughly; petrol, tolls, ferries? I'm probably a bit late to wish you Happy Christmas, so Happy Boxing Day.
