your loss man, i would never sell my miata even if it was for a prestige car like a porsche. there is something about them that just make them unlike any other car out there. no other car can compare to the driving experience of the miata, well, thats my opinion anyways ahah
I have and recently too. Drove a track ready 1st gen Mr2, 2nd Gen Mr2, NA and NB Miata. All track ready roughly same mods. I think the NB is slightly better than a SW20 (to me), then 1st gen Mr2, then NA. All my personal opinion from racing every weekend from may-Oct for the past 6 years.
I have 0 regrets selling that Miata to buy my S2000, I find it better in every pheasable way. I only had the Miata is always the answer mentality when I didn't know what other cars where out there.
@@steve9021oh The best way to put it is that the S2000 feels like a super Miata, at least compared to the NA, I'm sure an NC2-3 or ND would seem more comparable, but the S2000 out handles, out accelerates, and feels worlds more well built than the NA. The thing I do miss though is that retro feel of the NA as well as the pop ups, you can't replicate a car that is genuinely old.
hey Noah, this is Caden Armentrout, who bought your miata with my dad (Dan), i made a video of the miata if you want to come check it out and see what i have done with it! (All footage recorded today, 6/18/16). I never knew you had a youtube channel, but great videos! @mechonomist
I had a Miata for 16 years 1996. I shouldn't have sold it. My biggest mistake, when it comes to cars. It was the most fun and reliable car you can own. I love my Miata, and I miss it dearly. Oh, BTW I live in and from the south. It's a great place... at least Atlanta and Florida are for me.
I'm a Zone Manager at Ford Motor Company. Essentially I'm a marketing and management consultant for Ford dealerships. Check out my "what I do for a living" video if you want to learn more :)
I eventually ended up in Houston, which I vibe with much better. Very cool city. However, I could never live somewhere permanently where the government doesn't want to protect LGBTQ people and doesn't respect a woman's right to choose, so the south still isn't the place for me long-term.
I'm about to be a Sophomore in HS and I recently got a 1995 Mazda Miata, it has some dents and needs a new front bumper, but hopefully soon I'll have it as clean and good looking as you had yours! Miatas are so fun!!!
This felt like a coming of age movie. The life before the hard earning job and moving around, it was cosy and fun with the slight thrill of a cool companion.
A lot of what you said really resonated with me. A Miata NA is all about simplicity in a roadster. Simplicity in a car, for that matter. Simplicity in life. You CAN'T take a bunch of your friends somewhere. You CAN'T take three suitcases and a pet carrier with you. You CAN'T race a Mustang 5.0. But you can have all the fun in the world that a sunny afternoon and curvy roads can offer. If you ever revisit the need for that again, DO NOT buy an ND and especially an NC. I bought an ND, hoping to relive those days of zipping around everywhere in my 1995 that I regret selling in favor of an Acura RSX-S with twice the horsepower. A few months later, I bought a 1990 to fix up and drive the shit out of. So I have both, but I prefer the NA in almost every case. Glad to hear how well everything has been working out for you. If you miss your NA, I've got a playlist on my channel of me fixing up a busted, ratchet, riced out 1990.
For some, the NC is the perfect cruiser convertible. But for enthusiasts, it's too big (compared to an NA) and too heavy and all that translates to driving feel. If the NC was so bad, no one would have bought it and there'd be no ND, so it obviously wasn't bad, but it's my opinion that it's the worst of a great series of small convertible FERWD vehicles. I've never driven an NC. But I've sat in one. Didn't like it. And I don't personally like the styling of it. It literally looks like a Barbie car. But lots of people love how it looks, feels and drives. Those people aren't wrong. They're just not me.
If you enjoyed your life more before having a high paying job, then why do you have the job in the first place? Sure you have have more money to have nicer cars, but you said it yourself, that you don't need a fancy expensive car to enjoy life. Also going from to and from Michigan every weekend just to kind of maintain the life you had before doesn't make sense to me.
