I once worked at a miata shop. We hired a new mechanic and he was about to test drive his first repair. Also his first drive in a miata. Kinda whiny about how it was too small, this and that. Comes back five min later and gets out of the car and says "my next car will be a miata". 2 months later he had a 93, completely gutted and took a Mazda speed motor and swapped it in. Pure miata stoke!
A Miata is a car that is fun from the factory, but can also be modded into whatever the driver wants it to be. You can even do one thing with a Miata that you can't do with an S2000 You can buy a new one from a dealership.
Headlights go up. Headlights go down. Headlights go up, headlights go down. Headlights go up, down, up, down.... Heahehehehaheahea UPDOWNUPDOWNUPDOWNUPDOWNUPDOWNUPDOWN
Agreed on all counts! Except for one little correction... My '04 Mazdaspeed has a factory Torsen differential. This is not an LSD. (Limited Slip Differential) There are no clutches and no slip. The Torsen is an entirely diffrerent animal. It uses cleverly arranged piñon and worm gears to direct 50% of the torque to each rear wheel no matter what the relative difference in speed is at each wheel. This will rocket you through a corner like you're on rails. It is much better than a limited slip. Thanks for letting me vent. The Miata began from a blank piece of paper; suspension, drive train, chassis, everything. There were no off-the-shelf parts from other models. The Miata is not the simple little car many people think it is. It's a more sophisticated piece of engineering than many of its owners, including me at one time, appreciate. Especially the suspension. I recommend the book, "Mazda Miata Performance Handbook" by Norman Garrett III, MBI Publishing, ISBN 0-7603-0437-8. Garrett was one of the original design engineers on the Miata. Every Miata lover; racer or cruiser, should read this book. You'll love your little car even more.
Didn’t even watch a video but I can already tell you: - Cheap - Available - Reliable - Cheap parts - Good handling - Big aftermarket - Nice community with a lot of support for different builds - Headlights go up and down (very important)
I was initially going for an mx5 for my first car when i stumbled upon this really clean montego blue 2nd gen mx6. A week into owning it and I do believe that the MX6 is one of the most criminally underrated sports cars that Mazda's ever produced. The refined V6 DOHC engine coupled to a 5 speed manual trans, the ALL WHEEL STEERING system and the cockpit-like dash which surrounds the driver, all make for an unbelievable driving experience. It's a shame because the MX6 shared the same fate as others in it's segment such as the Mitsubishi FTO and 3000gt. There's little to no aftermarket support for these cars and no one knows what it is (people think it's some sort of off brand silvia). Hell even I myself wasn't aware of the car's existence before I saw the car which I own now. For Mazda's sport couple which fell second to the coveted FD RX7 it's strange how unbelievably under appreciated these car's have become. This however doesn't discourage me in my journey as a car enthusiast, if anything, it's awesome to know that i drive something which is immensely unique, a car that marks quite the conversation starter amongst fellow car people, but most importantly it's a car which in and through the years i will built and make to be my own. Because that's what being a car enthusiast is all about!! :D
+Alfonso G Such superficial statements, the mx6 has tremendous cornering potential and as for maintenance i haven't got a clue what your on about. The car costs no more to service than any Camry on the road plus it's a Mazda, you're pretty much bulletproof in terms of reliability. The problem was that at the time people just weren't buying cars in it's segment. When the GE mx6 debuted in Australia it had an asking price of over $50,000. No one was buying them and eventually Mazda decided to discontinue the platform whilst continuing in the production and development of the smaller, cheaper mx5's which were selling like hotcakes. Then there was the rx8 and we all know how that turned out (you what expensive to maintain then there you go).
I think that with Miatas in the end it is like with your dog - it was the best friend you had and when he is about to pass away, you feel like your whole wolrd is taken away from you.... I want Miata so badly, I am trying to save every money I can to get myself one (MX5 in here :P) and the day I will go for the first time to a Miata track day - on that day I will be born again, resurrected...
I have a NB Miata. It’s slow, it’s small, it’s cramped, etc. But to understand why the Miata is so ridiculously awesome, you just need to drive it. I’m not talking around the block, go drive it on the backroads and twisty roads. Because oh my god is it life changing
The best is yet to come! Starting with the 2019 model, the base model ND Miata gets a horsepower bump up to 181hp, and a 7500 RPM redline. I know these aren't fast cars, but I guarantee they'll be the most fun you can have with your pants on.
Perfect weight distribution, short wheel base, manual preferred, low weight. It's basically a mini corvette. Though high power not required, mazda really needs to get it to about 250 baseline. The ND stepping down in power for the nc made people ask 'wtf why' so it's good to see it jump to 181 in 19.
Mines a red NA bog standard looking, with upgraded suspension, brakes, roll cage (you can only see with top down), built turbo charged motor with dynoed 375hp at the wheels. Needless to say not much keeps up with it in either the corners or the straights although almost painful when you boot it and runs out of gears quickly as 1st and 2nd are a waste of time. Way better than the supras I previously owned. Those that don't like them have never driven one
Holy wow ur back I absolutely love your videos. the editing, the music, the cinematics, everything! Very well done. Now do the Ford Escort or Civic Because the Civic needs some good quality attention from a great RUclipsr.
Mx5s have small, light wheels, rwd, light compact body(u can see the car's corners!!!) with perfect distribution and canvas top. That's a recipe for fun
I've never been a "small car person". But my buddy had a red one, a 96. I fucking fell in love with it! I went and bought one cash and I've wrecked it twice. It's so easy to work on! I gotta replace a lower control arm. Lol
Hated miatas until I drove one. The best thing about miatas is that you can pick up a used top in good shape for about 250 bucks and it's easy to swap it out.
It's the better car compared to the NA but the NA drives the Hypetrain xD NB handles so much better b.c. you don'T have to turn the weel so much to drive a corner, has more power and the better weightbalance.
The nb face lift also came with a slightly more powerful 1.6 engine making 122bhp rather than the pre facelift 112bhp, there is no difference to the final drive ratio from the 6 speed box and the 5 speed box it just adds more gears to choose from in between and reverse is obviously in a different place. The facelift nb 1.6 doesn't have vvt just the 1.8 and that's only on some models, the mazda speed only came as a facelift version and was available in the UK also, not just Australia. The pre facelift nb doesn't have vented disc brakes unless its the 1.8 or a special edition of which there we're sooooo many with a limited edition paint code to match. The nc wasn't even on the same platform as the nb. The nc shares the sake platform as the rx8 hence why rotary swaps are easier. Not to mention that the engines weren't even related, the nc has plastic intake manifold on the other side of the engine bay because the exhaust manifold is on the same side as the rx8. Because same platform. Also, it's 5 said wheels on the nc not 4x100 pcd like all the other generations of the mx5.
Ive got an intresting idea for your next vid. How about the ruski miata or more commonly known as the LADA (2105,2107,2102, all of the RWD sedans, not the Samara or Niva.)
I love your channel but I think you could make some improuvement, like with the sound of your voice could be a little bit too low, a video is ok when it's too loud cause you can lower it, but if it's too low, well you can't go higher than 100%.(and also lower the music too, like just a bit but enough to make you voice sound clearer (i'm french and I don't know if this word really exist but you know what i mean)) And I feel like the image on the subscription timeline (idk what's the name of it but I hope you understand) need a little bit more of esthetic like shadow or just more detail and clear fade in the background. But over all I really like your channel and all those are just minor issue that I think can easly be fixed. Continue on the good work you'll be rewarded (even tho your channel already have quite a lot of viewers)
