The purpose of creatine is to pull water into the muscles for hydration. This will lead to a somewhat softer muscle tissue and somewhat increase in strength. You wouldn't want to take creatine in the final weeks for a bodybuilding show as it hinder the striated look during the drying out period. But prepping for a weight lifting competition, creatine would be beneficial.

During my stint with covid my lungs lost 30% capacity and were so inflamed I struggled to breathe, even as a lifelong runner. I was prescribed oral steroids to reduce the inflammation. Truth be told it was the absolute nastiest tasting medicine I've ever taken.
They did their job and I was able to breathe normally again, eventually making a full recovery. The funny thing about it all was; it was like my body regressed to puberty. I had zits everywhere, even more so than when I was a teenager (currently late 30s). I and my doctor had a good laugh, but still; these drugs should only be issued by trained medical personnel and taken as indicated. I had goofy yet expected side effects, so I can only imagine the potential dangers of taking non-prescribed steriods.

Modern gym culture and performance enhancing drugs are so overrated. I stopped going to my home gym a decade ago. I remember seeing buff guys with severe acne, outbursts of rage between employees and customers. There are so many better choices in fitness out there and the sad part is more often than not many young beginners get caught up in this toxic culture and end up drugging up and hurting themselves and others over an imagine that isn't and shouldn't be achievable.

Anabolic steroids have permanent benefits by forming more nuclei in the muscles, which are permanent. When you stop steroids, the benefits end, but not fully. You will permanently be more capable of increasing mass and strength, though not as much as when actively using

So I am a skinny guy. I have good workout habits and work ethic but a back condition that flares up several times a year forces me to go much easier at the gym or risk worsening and prolonging the pain.
I live in a cycle of working out and nearing a point where I feel confident with my body and progress and inevitably hurt my back doing something (often something totally benign like petting my cat or sneezing, etc) and then watching my body and self esteem waste away for 4-6weeks after each flare up.
For people like me who don’t do any competitive athletic sports or competitions, why shouldn’t I ask my doctor about steroids? Why shouldn’t people like me who aren’t able to gain weight and put on muscle look for away to protect and increase the gains we make at the gym?
I’ve been on this cycle for ten years now and I’m no better off today than I was when I started. It’s very demoralizing.

    • @Obarg1_

Almost the same with me. I try to train or box, and then i get back pain and it feels like someone did an argentine backbreaker on me and then i stop training for a couple of weeks. Im wasting away my teen years because of my back.

I was a skinny and thought I couldn’t gain weight. The problem is like all skinny guys you think you’re eating enough when you’re actually not.
Also eating big for a week or two weeks isn’t going to help. You need to eat big for about 3 months to see any real change, combine this with resistance training and you will grow.
You can think of it like a cycle (steroid cycles normally last around 12 weeks), get yourself focused and for 3 months make sure you eat your calories surplus - even when you don’t feel like eating. Eat.
The training comes second after your diet, get to the gym (if you can) 4 times a week. If you apply calories sur plus with training for a prolonged period of time you will see results. The probably with us skinny guys is we don’t give it enough time.
The benefit to being a skinny guy is eating big for 3 months means you can throw in quite a few cheat meals - at the end of the day you have to get them calories down.
