    really helpful graphic comparing models, everyone who is in the market wants to see this - how do they compare side-by-side. Only problem if you pause the video YT conrols are over it. Maybe make your video smaller into the corner and use full screen. That way you can also do things on the screen too, showing areas, highlighting etc. Just a thought.

    Really like this vehicle. From other reviews, it's a heavy vehicle, and energy consumption isn't the best. Hopefully it's fast-tracked for an update with the V2 Blade battery to reduce weight and improve range. Being more energy efficient and have greater range than its rivals in this segment will be a significant advantage.

    Xpeng G6 was launched in Sept 2024 in HK while BYD only started advertising the upcoming SL7 that month. To entice buyers to place deposits, BYD priced the SL7 at 7% below the G6. The same might happen in Australia as the G6 price in HK and Australia are the same. The odd part about that pricing strategy is the SL7 is being sold at less than the price of BYD Seal in HK which shouldn't be the case.

    • @LudicrousFeed
      @LudicrousFeed  14 дней назад

      You need to think about whether you actually do that many long drives in a year … of course not needing to charge on the highway is a plus with the SL6 however if you only drive in the city most of the time then the SL7 should suffice given you have ready access to charging at home

  • @chaogan
    @chaogan 15 дней назад

    I think you can refer to the Sealion 7 sold in Thailand and Malaysia markets, both are also RHD versions, the one coming to Australia should be identical to those. There are Premium and Performance models, both use the same 81kw battery on e-platform 3.0 (not evo). The main difference is Premium is RWD, while Performance is AWD.

  • @evtorque
    @evtorque 13 дней назад

    Hi Tom, thanks for this vid. As 'Happy Charging' is your sign-off, perhaps it's worth noting that the spec your charts are displaying as 11kW AC charging could be confusing or misleading for some. Especially as people my be doing direct comparrisons and may then see 11kW as 'better' than 7kW (or 6.6 as in your list). Most homes in the cities of Australia have a single phase supply. That means an 11kW charger (which is only attainable when using 3 phases) will only achieve 1/3 of this. So your chart may be more helpful if showing what's attainable if a home supplky has 3 phase and another column showing whats attainable with a single phase. All the 11kW variants would then show as 3.8kW. Much better for those making a shopping decision.

    • @LudicrousFeed
      @LudicrousFeed  13 дней назад

      Thanks for your comment. If I’m not mistaken, doesn’t the car work out whether the supply is 3 or single phase? (If said car is 3-phase ready) eg in my Tesla, if I’m drawing from my 22kW 3-phase charger at home - it’ll receive 11kW (car is the weakest link in this scenario) whereas if I plug into a public 7kW charger it will only draw 7kW - the charger being the weakest link here
      A scenario where this may be confusing is if although you have 3-phase at home but choose only to install a max 11kW charger, then a single phase car will only draw 11/3 or 3.6kW which is frustrating of course
      Hence why I always recommend installing 22kW if you have a 3-phase home and stick with 7kW chargers for single phase homes
      Point taken about splitting the chart but I’m concerned it will only add to the confusion …

    Really nice looking car. I've been researching new cars, the Seal is in the lead. Unfortunately most likely the Dynamic, as our soon to be P Plater can't drive the Premium or Performance. The same may well be the case for the Sealion, will be interesting to see what NSW does. On paper (for the info we have anyway!) interestingly the Sealion looks to have slightly less headroom in the back, and slightly less payload overall too.

    Comfort £44,935 82kWh Blade 1:0 400 volt 150kW charging RWD
    Design £49,235 82kWh Blade 1:0 400 volt 150kW charging AWD

    The performance AWD model sealion 7 at 4.5 seconds 0 to 100 is the equivalent of the performance model of the seal sedan at 3.8 seconds 0 to 100 which is also AWD.
    The difference in 0 to 100km time figures is due to sealion 7 being a heavier vehicle.

    • @LudicrousFeed
      @LudicrousFeed  13 дней назад

      Gotcha 👍

    • @Peter-vn8ue
      @Peter-vn8ue 13 дней назад

      Well let's wait and see. It's only the battery size that's different it's still AWD giving the vehicle its quicker acceleration time and will marketed here as the performance model in the short term perhaps.

  • @Gene-je2zq
    @Gene-je2zq 15 дней назад +4

    How much do they weigh? if the "performance" has a bigger battery and the same dual motors as the Seal then it is likely only 4.5s 0-100km/h as listed in the press release. I actually have concerns with EV manufacturers obsession with providing "supercar" performance in what are ostensibly family vehicles. it's just not necessary and potentially increases risk of accidents when all the power is available to inexperienced people.

    • @LudicrousFeed
      @LudicrousFeed  15 дней назад +1

      From my understanding the relatively marginal difference in weight between the two ADR approved variants can be accounted for by the extra motor in the AWD trim. Which means they will both be equiped with a 82kWh battery - not explicitly stated but most media will agree with this. This also means that we will not get the 91kWh variant with the faster 200+kW charging speeds dubbed the “Excellence” model in the UK.
      After further thought, I have a feeling that here in Australia, EV Direct will name them:
      - RWD = Premium 500km+ range
      - AWD = “Performance”
      If they call the AWD 82kWh the “performance” trim, then I am less hopeful that they will bring the 91kWh ultra performance or “Excellence” model
      Happy to be proven wrong though 🤷‍♂️

    I can't ignore the Atto 3 charging issue when looking at new BYD models, and how Atto 3 owners have been left out in the cold with cars that are only 12-24 months old. I believe it is poor design and history will repeat itself with these later generation models. At the moment the V4 Tesla Superchargers are only V4 in physical appearance, the 500kW V4 cabinets are reportedly rolling out in Australia in the coming months, it will be interesting to see if the Seal supports true V4 or whether they'll abandon the Seal owners like they did the Atto 3 owners.

    'impressive range of more than 500kms' but real highway testing I've seen is more like 300kms ....bleh

      Yup agreed, gotta do those real world tests

    A real world range of under 400km for a 2025 car costing nearly $60k is absolutely pathetic and you should be calling it out for that.

      I’ll admit it’s not great and overseas reviews have not been kind to its efficiency however I will reserve full judgment until I drive this properly on the highway and … confirm it can charge at Tesla Superchargers first because that will make a huge difference compared to others that can’t - particularly in Australia

      My broader point Tom is that if EV enthusiasts keep “defending” poor range and poor charging times with excuses then the manufacturers will keep producing and releasing these mediocre range/charge time EVs because that’s what the market will tolerate.

      Point taken and again as you and my regular viewers will know I’m all about real world testing even if others have done it before me: I want to experience it for myself first before making an informed comment 🙏

    Why someone wants to buy Xpeng? You cannot be sure the company will survive in 2-3 years. Only a handful of brands will survive, and BYD is a Yes. Xpeng, big question mark.

      I think people said that about Tesla in the 2010s … 🤔

      @@LudicrousFeed Xpeng has no R&D. It cannot compete with BYD or Huawei. Many brands in China will be out of business soon. Jiyue - gone, Hozon - going, Geely's Link, Zeekr and Polestar - merging. If the brand cannot survive in China, they won't survive overseas either.

    When I'm looking at buying a car, the most important view is the driver's display, personality you go on about how the outside looks with small changes to other cars. It's not how fast a car gets to 100. But it's overall economy.
    White your reviews are interesting but at the same time, BORING
