Nine people out of ten want comfortable and quiet simplicity to driving anywhere. Apart from the fact that Viking has NOT driven this car, does he understand who it is made for? Well, it's a family car that you can comfortably take on a road trip with 3 kids, or load to the hilt when shopping. If you want something to drive hard and don't have decent roads to travel on, then the Sealion 7 is NOT a good choice. As someone who drove an average of 40000km per year for almost 15 years, on good country and suburban roads, and having watched every RUclips review on this car to date, it ticks every box as far as I am concerned. And I do know it's not *perfect* and also know I have never owned a car that was. As for ADAS, I have it on my present EV and have set it up so that I get NO annoying beeps, and that's been the case for over 2 years.
car journals always like balls out oversteer hooligans that's why they always rate bmw over audi when people buy audi prefer the comfort and finish over bone shaking rides
funny how u have driven this much but still relies on the opinions of amateur journalists. Didn't you know that the Sealion 06 will receive local suspension tunings and BYD will most likely do the same for Sealion 7. What do you hold against this new BYD EV as in which specific aspects? You haven't said anything about that and jumped to the conclusion so soon.
@@PMI551 Journalists as in some arrogant people from Carsales or something. This remakeit dude said he watched 'every' video about Sealion 7 on RUclips so I was assuming that he meant those journalists other than Sam.
Thanks for the reviews Sam. I do think you are being "click-baity" with the ""Shocking..." and "...major issues..." That kind of thing will tend to turn me away from videos. Plus, you are reviewing another person's review, so it's one person's subjective thoughts on another person's subjective thoughts. Anyways, comments on your videos will help you out, so there you go, and as a viewer I can always discount the subjectivity and just pick out the facts. I'll be test driving a Sealion at the Bangkok Moto Show next week. Saw one at the dealership a few days ago and my subjective view is that it's quite a looker. Love the giant fronk and the HUD. For me range is not so important as I will be charging at home 99% of the time, and the few long trips we do each year are done casually, and I've no issue with chilling at a charging station. Note the mid-spec "Design" will charge 10-80% in 32 minutes. Cheers.
@@noodlefoo It's a REx PHEV. It drives pretty much like an EV though, and the range is close to 100km. Now he's run the engine in, my friend is just driving it in EV mode the whole time.
Bro, no need to put other reviewers down. Implying they are not honest is just poor form. Just review the car as you see fit honestly. Putting yourself on a pedestal and dumping other reviewers down the gutter is just uncool. So thumbs down for you.
Significant bias I am afraid. This is an LFP battery, well known for lower density therefore less range compared to an equivalent NMC battery. On the other hand though LFP lasts far longer and degrades far slower than an NMC. Speaking on personal experience my 2019 Model 3 with an NMC battery from a starting range of 309 miles (EPA rating) is now down to 280 after 81k miles. 9.3% loss. I saw video and report of a BYD with 445k! miles with 20% degradation.. On the sealion though the prices are indeed high. You need lower prices if you want to infiltrate the market. As for the ADAS system, I have been in a number of different cars recently; they are all CRAP! Tesla is indeed better on this front.
@@jasonmcintosh3448 ADAS systems described as horrendous where I have not come across a car so far that they work as we would like too. Tesla has the edge but they are still full of issues. My wipers still activate due to sun where no rain is around, I still get phantom breaks after 5 years of ownership and still the lane keeping is jolting the stirring wheel. Comparison between LFP and NMC. We all know that LFPs give less range on the same kw size. No mentioning on the fact though that LFPs have far less degradation and more life cycles. Range deemed small while Tesla and other EV manufactures grossly overestimate their range.
@@jasonmcintosh3448 His point is LFP batteries weigh more for a given pack size and the weight impacts efficiency, handling, braking and acceleration. But LFP has a more robust chemical structure, suffers from lower degradation, can handle higher temparatures, higher states of charge and regular fast charging better as well as being safer. All BYD EVs have LFP batteries.
I don't know about other markets, but in China the top trim of Sealion 07 costs less than the cheapest Model Y, so... Keep that in mind when comparing them.
Being cheaper, is not a better thing, unless it 100% match everything the Tesla has and can do, or beat A bike is cheaper than the car you speake of, but you're not going to use that in the rain or snow now are you, so what if its cheaper, if you can not use it, Understand.
@@techshark77 It's a false analogy, it's not a bike and a car, there are two cars that from the average consumer standpoint have the same functionality. And you will be surprised, but pricing is also a huge and integral part of the competition. Also, some people really appreciate it when they don't have to pay a fortune for a toycar interior and seats as comfortable as a backless stool can be, lol.
@@techshark77 That's a silly analogy and makes you sound less credible. Walking is cheaper than buying a car -- or a bike -- but hardly relevant to shopping for a car and comparing prices.
That’s why I listen to the Electric Viking. He speaks the truth and he does thorough research. After meeting him at the EV show and watching him deal with about 50 questions from 15 people after the panel forum show had finished, he was amazing and answered every question thoroughly and correctly from any subject from battery manufacture to EV charging to Chinese models and the renewable industry in Australia. Sam is the only EV RUclipsr which I set my notifications ON so I get all his videos daily I suggest you do the same if you want to know about the EV space
I like him mostly but his Tesla bias remains. He should have criticized Elon big time for jumping in bed with Trump in cancelling out EV incentives in USA. That's a key point of his channel he says, he wants to spread cleaner, greener renewable energies yet he kisses Elons rear big time. Yesterday CATL boss said 4680 would fail, and he's defending Musk again by stating CATL might be investigated by China because it's too big and then stating Tesla has made a big contract with CATL for future LFP in America
I'm not claiming that he generally doesn't do the research, but making a video on another guy's review and taking it as the truth isn't what I call "thorough research"
Haven´t seen or tried the car, but I heard from a friend, what kind of review is this? I´ve been actively searching for my next car for 6 months now. Model Y, G6, and G9 are the remaining top contenders. With no former knowledge of BYD and no expectations, I went to see and try the Sealion 7 this weekend. And I must say I have a new favorite. Top build quality, great luxury feeling (doors close like a double-the-price German car), all the right things done to the interior layout (I am missing the ability to stretch my legs under the front seat when seated in the rear as I can on the Y). To me, the looks are an important part, and the Sealion 7 far outperforms the others mentioned in my mind. Driving felt good, and I was comfortable. The soundproofing is great, and acceleration is top, I really didn´t have any complaints. Charging speed is good but not the best, but it doesn´t matter much as I (and most Norwegians ) will mostly charge at home overnight. The only question I´m left with is if the consumption is acceptable for my use, and for 95% of my driving, it is.
Sam, your G6 is 800V architecture so how fast is it on 400V chargers (which most of them are)? Just wondering how they tackled it as Porsche use an expensive DC-DC converter (and charge for it) while Hyundai splits their pack in two which results in slower charging.

Just because a review is negative doesn't mean it's accurate, conversely a positive review doesn't mean it's accurate either. It's best to look at many reviews since a lot of what makes up a review is subjective.
The biggest problem with buying EVs is the technology upgrade. BYD is actually addressing battery inefficiencies issues, but we can only see improvements on Blade Battery 2.0. So if you do not need to use the car at the moment, waiting is always a better option.
@@MarkChen-m8n Absolutely. You just keep waiting just a bit, then again just a bit for the next tech jump, then the next one again and... no matter how long you keep waiting, in the end you buy one, that will become "obsolate" sooner or later anyway...
Hmmmm. Forgive me for being skeptical, but this is a a competitor to the Xpeng G6, a car that Sam constantly pushes on this channel. Am I being cynical?
Sam your comments around the Atto 3 ADAS in 2022 when released is different than the expectations of a car released in 2025, and I note today still plenty of cars from legacy auto whose ADAS is ordinary, including some large Japanese manufacturers. BYD's never review particulalrly well in the UK and that is a big part due to their pricing, but a Skoda Enyaq or Hyundai Ioniq 5 will likely be $15k more in Australia and even then plenty won't touch them due to their NMC batteries anyway.
Wouldn’t buy this or the Xpeng G6. Xpeng don’t reply when you book a test drive as they say they will and they don’t reply to customer enquiries either. That’s your first warning not to go near them. BYD have always replied yet their products have slipped behind. I will always say this though. Opinions are like assholes. Everybody has one. Never rely on motoring reviews go test drive for yourself.
Depending on which country you're at. It has a lot to do with the culture of the staffs there in that country. Usually you dun have that problem at the Asian countries. Dun understand why but that how it is.
The Sealion still possess better than average power compared to its peers. The price is an advantage. This Sealion comes with far more advanced technology. Sealion is the Car that not only exceeds my requirement but also extremely fun to drive. Go for a test drive and you will know what I mean.
A professional tester drove up the Genting Highland at a racing like speed cornering live recording. The body rolling and steering control looks good. Only thing concerned me. The performance near the peak of the highland became stagnant and needed a breather.
The Irish guys at the German test were doing 225km/h on the autobahn. Aero drag at that speed is 4x that of 110km/h so it is not surprising the efficiency was shocking. All were impressed with the quiet and comfort. You should not go on one review. It is a large family car.
Which German buys such a chinese junk EV....just a poor guy or a company lease..maybe...you not got spare parts or service here in Germany for them....🤔
I've seen multiple different reviews, Irish x 2, UK x 2 and several others. All said suspension was not good, and car was very heavy, so lots of leaning in corners despite the weight being low down. Needs the new blade battery, and upgrade suspension.
Good video, have been watching your reviews. Does Australia have the BYD M6 as well? Would like to see your view on that particular MPV! Also, hopefully, Vehicle to Grid, Fleet to Grid becomes a thing in future!
Nonsense the Atto3 ADAS in my Atto is every bit as good as that in my TM3, except to the Atto version is easier to use. My suspicion is he has never driven the Atto any distance nor bothered to set it up. You actually have to go through the menus and set your preferences. Its not particularly hard but does require reading the manual to get the full benefit. The cognitively challenged could have difficulty, in which case they should get someone to set it up for them.
Well I own both and I couldn't disagree more. Tesla autopilot is pretty good whilst my Atto 3 (which is the car I drive the most) is nothing more than adaptive cruise control with autosteer (which is just glorified LKA). What's the difference - well the Tesla actually anticipates traffic in front, rear and at the sides, keeps an exact speed (something the BYD seems incapable of doing) and drives confidently enough that you just have to monitor. It's not perfect - I've had it brake on me when somebody turned right in front of me although there was plenty of room and twice (both times on trips to Melbourne) it's tried to take an incorrect exit - but overall it's a pretty good system. As soon as the BYD hits a hill it starts to slow down and it takes about 7-10secs for it to realise and start accelerating - even my old Outlander had better ACC than that. It would be the most annoying human driver ever. Think about that - if you're on the freeway overtaking traffic at the speed limit and it hits a hill, the Atto 3 starts to slow down leaving you in the median lane going slower than the speed limit. It's autosteer is OK until it isn't, when the camber of the road gets excessive. I've used it maybe 3 times but gave up on it. The Tesla is the simplest and easiest car I've ever had for autopilot/ACC. Double click down on the right stalk and use the scroll wheel to set your speed and the travel distance. OTOH the BYD when you first engage cruise control sets it to the current speed, right? Wrong - it sets it to 30km/h and you can then set the speed by advancing it in 5km/h increments. I think you can also set it after you engage by using the resume button but that's something I only discovered on my last freeway. Don't get me wrong - I like the Atto 3 but there's a huge technology gap to the TM3.
Few points to consider: - Majority of buyers prefer soft suspension setup for comfortability even it means compromising the handling, especially for non performance SUV - Not everyone wants one pedal driving, I know a lot my petrolhead friends never considered Tesla for this reason alone. In fact part of the reason I don't like Tesla apart from minimalism is one pedal driving that cannot be adjusted. - Latest BYD software update has improved the ADAS, much better than 2022 version although it's still not perfect. - Most of the BYD extra weight come down for using LFP chemistry for big battery. The XPeng G6 and Y LR they use NMC battery.
I like your critical, objective approach to key criteria, even if many of the videos were taken from the test drives and initial reviews from Germany and not from your own tests. But that's fine. It is understandable that BYD is developing very fast and that software development is a complex thing. For European customers like me, aspects such as the weak service network, the slow supply of spare parts and the maintenance costs would also be interesting in the evaluation. Some people are surprised here: the much-praised Koreans charge twice as much for maintenance in order to refinance longer warranty periods. BYD (unconsciously?) pushes up the hourly service rates by using dozens of different screws on the panels where things could be simplified better. The use of different tires on the 2 x 4 cars is also economic nonsense and a contradiction to the otherwise outstanding quality.
The car isn’t the only consideration, the after sales of BYD in Australia sucks…we have an Atto, 3 month lead time on booking an annual service, we had an interior issue from the day it was delivered and it took 6 months for the parts to arrive and be fitted. Afterwards we have something rolling around in the dashboard at every turn
BYD Thailand is claiming that the Sealion 7 has a greater range than the Tesla Y. I'm not sure if that's really true or not, but here in Thailand, the Sealion 7 costs half as much as the Tesla Y. So the price is a huge selling point here. I'm talking about the performance edition AWD. But I know in Europe the same car is much more expensive, actually matching the Tesla Y in price. In that case, you can make a strong argument to purchase the Tesla. But here in Thailand, the price difference is huge. Which makes the BYD much more appealing. There's a huge price war in Thailand like there is in China among EV manufacturers which could explain the lower price here.
Efficiency is king. Why have many EV manufacturers not pushed this? My Tesla M3 RWD Highland is generally 4.5 miles per kWh for past 7 months and gives this at 70 mph speeds. A great increase over my Kia E Niro that did 3 to 3.5 miles per kWh at 70 mph speeds. Also bigger batteries take longer to charge and cost more as a result.
@@jimmyhan4650 Not true for all circumstances. I have a 2023 RWD model 3 - I do a semi-regular trip from Sydney to Melbourne and back, I stop for late breakfast and early dinner (Gundagai and Euroa) exactly the same as I did in my ICE car and the same as what I would do in a long range. 2 x 20-25 min stops and I'm done, without fail I have enough charge to contunue before I have finished eating and using the bathroom. I can do 3 x 164 km round trips to work between charges because I can charge to 100% with an LFP battery as often as I like and don't need to keep to the 80/20 rule - and before you start with degradation, yes I charge my car to 100% every time and yes I leave it plugged in at 100% until I want to use it again - after 21 months and 40,000km I have 3% degradation, 2% occurred in the first 10 months and only 1% since. The sheer practicality of the LFP battery is far more important for me than a longer range, a difference in range that I have yet to find would have given me any advantages despite numerous country / remote trips. BTW I doubt anyone is getting close to my efficiency with a Tesla Long Range AWD. i.imgur.com/IJ2mSiY.jpg - I can sit on 125wh/km (200wh/mi) all day long at 70mph in reasonable conditions.
@@jimmyhan4650 Efficiency gives range. My Tesla gives me 4.5 to 5 miles per kWh but range is around 270 miles. Double the battery and say efficiency is now 3 miles per kWh gives 330 miles. So efficient EV’s are the key. If that double sized battery could have same efficiency that would be amazing.
I have a friend in Hong Kong who got this last month and he said the handling is actually better than model 3 or BYD seal. the steering wheel of any EVs will always feel disconnected compared to ICE, can't really say much unless I've driven one.
It’s unlikely to be true, or your friend simply prefers a car that leans a lot when cornering. Multiple reviewers have mentioned that this car has a lean-prone, uncomposed suspension due to its overly soft setup. Teslas don’t suffer from the same problem, because the suspension is on the stiffer side, and it’s also much lighter.
i am a taxi driver with over 1.5million kilometers in cars and this car checks almost all my boxes. except the weight everything else looks nice to me. big lfp battery, comfortable ride, software for me will be carplay so i dont rly care about the cars one, gonna test the single motor one when it comes in eu.

Hope ADAS is fixed with OTA updates like the Seal was. Far from perfect but so much better than at delivery. If they can keep these updates and continually get better, with the updates for the always showing AC controls, I think it'll do well. Weight is the enemy of a lot of things. The Seal is bloated even with its 390kw. If it had another 5-75kw or 400kg less weight it would be better still. But for the $75 we paid, it's been great other than one minor AC glitch in nearly 20k kms. Range is plenty at about 450-500kms in winter, we shall see the summer range. I'll sign up if the ADAS, suspension tuning for our market, and updated OS with AC controls shown are all fixed. Happy with it so far. Far from slow, but heavy. Happy with range, quality, reliability ease of use and overall car. If this is the same, sign me up.
For practical reasons, there is little point in lugging a heavy battery when a light battery will save energy and takes less time to charge while having marginally less range.
Hi Mat , like your daily update's. Can we make a deal please. Consumsion of an EV is done in Kwh per 100 km and not on range of a full battery. And to make it simple, with AC heating on 21 degrees. Then we get apples with apples.
And another point of order - you don't have your facts correct. The BYD Sealion GVW = 2750 KG (AWD version). Xpeng G6 = 2553 KG. So, there is a 200 KG difference (440 pounds, not 900 pounds). Yes, the range is less, but I've read that this has more to do with the high-performance motors used. The BYD software is fine on the highway, but the Xpeng is much better in city driving (I've driven both cars). Neither can touch TESLA's software, so they are only a direct competitor if you discount that.
I think most people still not see any Chinese brands as premium/luxury brand. Only world-famous brands such as Benz, BMW, Audi, Lexus, Cadillac, Bentley, Maybach, Rolls-Royce, etc. are counted as premium/luxury.

Not really au fait with suspension set ups, which you have been talking about lately 🤔. Had the chance to compare a Tesla model 3 base model with my MG4 base model with a mate of a mate. Both have rear wheel drive, both have LFP batteries. Both hug the road. Fun 😁 to drive. I was impressed with all his bells and whistles, he was impressed with the soft ride in the MG4. The Tesla is sprung harder and you feel every bump. Matt Campbell said on your channel he loves the base model MG4 because its lighter and fun. I feel I've jagged a great car without knowing why. Soft ride plus grip? Please explain 🎉. Cheers Rossco
No chance to try the Sealion 07 here in Finland yet. The BYD Seal is here though. My personal feeling about the BYD Seal was very positive. It has almost the same suspension system as the Tesla. The ride felt good. You could feel the power. I also liked that big central display. And it also has a second display. The interior was very attractive. The seats are very luxurious. These things are almost the same in the Sealion 07. Quite big energy consumption is BYD's biggest problem. For some reason, it seems that the new evo version is even worse in that sense.
Yesterday you said in the video that China beats the whole world with 1000km batteries, today you say they lied in one version of the car, you were also saying LFP chinese batteries are suppirior... look at your comments, almost everyone reasonable says that you say strange things and not providing actual facts...
In regards to steering feel in particular there is no excuse for lack of feel especially when the software is as good as it is in China. They can alter and manipulate automatic gearboxes with software to lower emissions so this should similar on an electric power steering rack or drive by wire systems. But if it feels great and doesn't handle well maybe this is BYD'S way of telling you don't point it into a corner at speed. It will be interesting to see what Chinese brands will get this right.
BYD only uses LFP batteries even in big cars and luxury cars and so density is an issue. They will have that issue until they move to Solid State or some other dense battery.
Don't worry. He dosen't know BYD at all. BYD using Blade battery on Sealion 7, which is the best in 2024. BYD is launching Blade batter 2.0 next year, with new cars.
@liuyangyang Thanks for that information. Maybe good to wait for the new models with the improved batteries. BYD is becoming very popular in Australia and unlike the US we don't have high tariffs.
What also bothers me a lot is that in Europe we have to pay lot for this car, that I like, but it lacks a lot of stuff that the chinese version has. So we pay much more for a trim down version of the same car.
At least you can buy this car in your country! Americans like myself.... you know the "Home of the Brave and Land of the Free".... can't do that. Our government would rather let it citizens go broke paying for high priced cars. This so that our domestic ICE automakers, and their United Auto Workers union leaches, don't go out of business. So we are artificially financing them through tarrifs which then, under the covers, return as federal grants to these same automakers.... so they can convert to be EV makers.... except they never do. Some just used the federal money to buy back stock and line the pockets of their executives with bonuses (I'm talking to you GM!). So Americans have little choice except a Tesla if we want a pure EV at a decent price. Yes there are Hyundais and KIAs here too but in low quantities and worse software than a Tesla.
BYD quantity over quality as they rush to bring out as many different vehicles as possible. Fixing the issues seems to be something they will address later, if at all. With Tesla you know they will and do it better than everyone.
Most ADAS systems are subpar. I wouldn't consider this when purchasing a car. They need a universal hard switch to turn off all ADAS features in new cars, so they say off.
Like an Audi Q6 E-tron with air suspension then? 😳 Nice and comfortable, quiet and calm, but to drive sporty on winding roads; too soft and little feeling with the road through too light and numb steering.😉
It needed to be said, and it was said. Thank you Viking for being objective and speaking the truth. I love BYD, hopefully they do not derive from improving their efficiency for producing so many models so fast. I agree with you.
Heavy weight cars don't works in South East Asia. I've seen a Tesla drive same speed with Toyota Yaris over a bridge. The Toyota look normal but the Tesla look like drive over a huge bump, the wheel travel so much and the whole car look almost jump 1 feet.
There is a reason why there is denza and yangwang.. why are you expecting byd to go premium when created another brand that goes premium? this is simple logic, why cant it register in your head.
A little less efficient than Tesla MY but more comfortable. Has sunroof cover. Very heavy. Low range. No regen braking. Intrusive ADAS. Disconnected feeling with steering. Pass.
Mover 2500 kg nao e facil e em hibrido e uma desgraca....precisam se baterias que deem autonomia minima de 1000 klms e com forca suficiente para mover 2.5 ton e xarregamentos em 5 minutos.
BYD cars are surprisingly heavy and inefficient, more a low cost volume manufacturer than tech leader it seems which makes sense for the Chinese market.
@santoshrathod123 Exactly right. However, if BMW is anything to go by with such problems they start off with resetting the code and saying 'should be fixed now', when it's not and breaks down at an inconvenient time. When sensors start to fail they can throw misleading codes in other adjacent areas which in some instances can create a real problem for both drivers and the dealership, who most times don't have enough experience or time to follow up hunches or deep-dive into systems. This leaves the owner without their car for possibly weeks at a time and a feeling of disappointment or anger. If you keep going back with the same unresolved issue most dealerships start to get fed up seeing you.
If the Sealion 7 is a Seal on stilts, they have my money again. Love my Seal Performance. Charging speed isnt the fastest, its softly sprung, its not a 3 series, and ADAS was annoying until its update. And? And ive read the Sealion 7 will have the full 390kw in AWD form with a 4.5S on the boot lid. And these other cars have this and that and have longer ranges etc, so they say. But we dont know yet, do we? Havent seen any journo drive one yet. And lastly, a "perched" driving position, its an SUV isnt it? Didnt know it was a 911 GT3 with seating needing to be on the floor.

Cheers.
One can hardly call this a review tbh. Its a review of a review Oo. And the original review is just of that guys personal exp and taste.

It's weird because the Sealion 6 is insanely popular in Australia. A friend of mine bought one and he loves it.

Teslas here in Oz have LFP batteries and are long ranged and weigh less.
I'm not following? Can you please explain the Bias, factually?
@@simon-c2y only standard range in tesla has LFP... LR and performance still have NMC
Pffftt I will stick with Tesla.

The biggest problem with buying EVs is the technology upgrade.
BYD is actually addressing battery inefficiencies issues, but we can only see improvements on Blade Battery 2.0.
So if you do not need to use the car at the moment, waiting is always a better option.

70's thru the mid80's. My take away, you cannot chase technology! Cheers!
@@MarkChen-m8n Absolutely. You just keep waiting just a bit, then again just a bit for the next tech jump, then the next one again and... no matter how long you keep waiting, in the end you buy one, that will become "obsolate" sooner or later anyway...

@@jimgraham6722 FSD or autopilot on you m3?
@ and Autopilot is
... annoying... so many Chinese trolls spreading pro-Chinese EVs propaganda..." Oh, here in Australia BYD is insanely popular... we love it..."
Few points to consider:
- Majority of buyers prefer soft suspension setup for comfortability even it means compromising the handling, especially for non performance SUV
- Not everyone wants one pedal driving, I know a lot my petrolhead friends never considered Tesla for this reason alone.
The XPeng G6 and Y LR they use NMC battery.
maybe it will be solve by using blade battery gen 2.0?
2nd time i opened this channel. Same as last time, negative with BYD
This guy just hates BYD , it is a great car and proven .
BYD MAKES THE BEST VEHICLES FOR THE LEAST MONEY, IN 10 YEARS IT WILL BE NO. 1 IN THE WORLD

For EVs the only thing that you should consider is the WLTP range, not efficiency, you should know why.
Bigger batteries means more range when you are charged at 50%...which is the best way to minimize battery degradation.
@ Shouldn’t it be 80%? Correct me if I am wrong.

Byd and huawei needs to start collaborating
Hi Mat , like your daily update's. Can we make a deal please. Consumsion of an EV is done in Kwh per 100 km and not on range of a full battery. And to make it simple, with AC heating on 21 degrees. Then we get apples with apples.

And another point of order - you don't have your facts correct. The BYD Sealion GVW = 2750 KG (AWD version). Xpeng G6 = 2553 KG. So, there is a 200 KG difference (440 pounds, not 900 pounds). Yes, the range is less, but I've read that this has more to do with the high-performance motors used.

Weight is not explaining inefficiency. It must come from drivetrain losses
BYD only uses LFP batteries even in big cars and luxury cars and so density is an issue. They will have that issue until they move to Solid State or some other dense battery.
I was surprised at the stats for this car when I first saw this advertised. A big battery and tiny range. Not sure what's going on with it.
Good enough? Just need a car better than a 2012 Caravan😮
Surprised that BYD, a battery maker, isn't using its best batteries in its own cars.
@nickmcconnell1291 that's so sad..
BYD quantity over quality as they rush to bring out as many different vehicles as possible. Fixing the issues seems to be something they will address later, if at all. With Tesla you know they will and do it better than everyone.
Ironically all the so called safety warnings and lane adjustments are creating driver distractions
and hazards
Most ADAS systems are subpar. I wouldn't consider this when purchasing a car. They need a universal hard switch to turn off all ADAS features in new cars, so they say off.
We love your unabashed Truth! E' Nuff Z' Nuff with the scandalous lies!
That's Y I didn't bother and went straight for the Model Y. So happy and growing....driving it like an EV should be driven.

Actually the 82.5kWh battery can charge up to 170kW and not 150kW 😉
80kWh or more of battery, using low density LFP means an incredibly heavy battery and car. Not a good decision.
Heavier weight is the cost of doing LFP. If you're comparing directly to the lighter xpeng g6 ...if it's the long range that's NMC.
Sounds like BYD should have delayed this car till Blade 2.0 comes out with its improved density
Pass.
It isn't a direct rival to squat without USA sales, cmon
Mover 2500 kg nao e facil e em hibrido e uma desgraca....precisam se baterias que deem autonomia minima de 1000 klms e com forca suficiente para mover 2.5 ton e xarregamentos em 5 minutos.
in china the range numbers are super inflated.
500 chinese km = 400 european WLTP km = 350 EPA km
I'll stick with my old leaf 😂 8 years old and 0 $ spent and I can get the battery repaired unlike those new blade battery's.
BYD cars are surprisingly heavy and inefficient, more a low cost volume manufacturer than tech leader it seems which makes sense for the Chinese market.
Can you imagine the problems owners will face when some of the electronics on these cars start to go wrong?
Nope. Electronics usually stop working due to sensors. Much easier to fix than mechanical issues.
Like ICE cars then, all modern cars packed with electronics.
probably the same as ICE cars
typical to german cars..... my AMG rain sensor gone wild after 2 years.....
Click bait as far as im concerned.
Big battery with bad efficiency doesn't mean anything
BYD 👍
Soft suspension? Far out . Have to cross off my list.
no car compares to the tesla's - safety, fsd , performance for the price there is no rival despite what Sam thinks
A none driven review based on another review, based on another opinion. This is why i encourage everyone to ignore car journalists reviews and actually go and test drive and form your own opinions. After all, you're paying for it. Not another RUclips bobble head.
Large suvs and pickup trucks are not suitable for long-range electric vehicles. They are too heavy. Small city hatchbacks charge faster and travel further. Because they have smaller batteries and weight less.
It’s a bit of a porker, but I’m sure it’s a nice car.
Who buys a Hyun'Die' these days?
you never try it yourself and yet you post this video ??? 😂
says enough, right :)
Whichever way you look at it, Chinese cars have taken over the world market. Especially the Zeeker 7X. Leaving European and Japanese cars, way behind.
Start calling out the flaws of Tesla's models. There's plenty of them.
