People have forgotten or never had manners. They are rude and uncaring.
I just not understand people they sit behind a computer and just give negative mean comments.
I started watching your show in 2020 ( covid )and I love it .
If people don’t like something why say anything.
Thank you and Dary for bringing Lucy’s book back to life. I believe Lucy’s story.
    God Bless you Joe

I choose to believe the book as well. It is a simple love story between two young kids. It was hard for them because Elvis was on the road to super stardom and had no idea how his life would change. I think it is totally believable because of the time and how things were back then. Many people look at it as if there was all the technology that is out there now but people just didn’t have the access to phones like today and cameras were a luxury so not in everyone’s pocket. Lots of people have teenage love affairs and don’t end up together. I love their story especially since it is so positive about Elvis and as fans we should love the little happiness he found. mitte

Those are people i keep out of my life,They just carry to much negativity. As far as what Billy ask" as to why you put a heart on a negative comment he probably thought you were not believing in what he told you.. The wine I drank in college cost .99 cents a bottle. Regular sized wine bottle. Boone's Farm. Ripple. Thunderbird.
Also, where there's a will there's a way regarding love. The boyfriend of a young lady in my AZ neighborhood - in Maricopa County, the sixth largest county by area in America - used to pedal a skateboard from from distant end of the county to the other, probably 50 miles each way, to see her. The county itself is 132 miles from its farthest points. Love will conquer all.

Some people are just closed minded. They have an opinion without listening to the facts. I'm always open minded, at first I thought What, then after listening to the book and Desiree my opinion is its true. Too many things add up to just dismiss everything. Joe, I’m sorry to comment again. I’m sorry that you lost your mother at such a young age. There’s no way to describe the loss and grief. My children were also 6 and 14 when their dad died unexpectedly. There were no books to help guide me. I did all I could to be there and reassure them that we were still a family. I told them we’d be sad and cry, sometimes alone and sometimes all together. I did my best to be there for them and listen. I loved them very much. Some families fall apart when a parent is lost, but I think as we relied on each other for support we became stronger together. There were some tough moments, hours, and days. Today, my son and daughter are very caring, sensitive and successful adults. I am very proud of them and I feel very blessed they are in my life. I’m sure your mom is very proud of the man you are today as well. ❤

I appreciate your approach to this, it's difficult to navigate. I tend to just remove comments that get attacked by inappropriate negs. If the person wants to discuss their view point, that's fine, but to just attack with words that only cause hurt and do not resolve their side in any way, I just remove my comment and walk away, simple as that. Maybe it's not the best way to deal with it, but I don't like useless confrontation. There is just no point. I hope the rest of your day improves and the vibe goes back up for you. Stay in a place of love! ❤

What I've come to perceive thru my lens is lots of people get as nasty with each other over Elvis as they do with politics. I understand strong passion is a driving force behind Elvis or whatever we have strong passion for but that's where self awareness and emotional control come into play.
Lack of self awareness and emotional regulation is the cause of many of feuds.
It's very difficult to have a civil conversation, to resolve strife and get to the truth when we can't arrive at respecting each others different perspectives and opinions. We should apply empathy and compassion to take sincere interest and to understand how we've each arrived at our belief rather than argue it. First arguing never settles anything, it causes a division and secondly, although we may disagree, we each hold our opinion, and they view it and regard it as important and valid as we do our own. To have a civil discussion about each other's view points, there may be something valuable both may learn.
Every one of us will have different perspectives and opinions due to various reasons. I don't always agree but I don't get combative. Ten - twenty years ago I would had been argumentative but it took me growing in self awareness, growing in empathy, patience, etc.... I hope more people come together more, to embrace the indifferences. ❤
I extend my most heartfelt prayers to your Wife and her Friend. I'm so sorry you lost your Mother at such a young age. I lift you up in prayers and prayers to everyone that needs them. 🙌💖

There's a big difference between facts, total lies, and opinions. In the past 40 years every single naysayer has either confused their dumb opinion with actual facts, or created a false fact that isn't in the book, then ripped on their own lie. Totally insanity.
I have no problem with people having their opinions about Lucy's behavior regarding Elvis, why she took so long to tell him about Desiree, etc., but to say I fabricated an entire book that launched my 40 year career as a highly paid author is pure dweeb insanity.

      @@DaryMatera
Dary - I empathize with your position.
You took on a endeavor that you believed in 100%. You wouldn't had risked your name, your credibility and any future work if you didn't have complete faith in Lucy.
What I've taken notice of, of what separates you from most that had written books about Elvis or pertaining to him, is their source of income and career was not in authoring as oppose to you, so therefore it was at a much greater risk to you to be very careful which waters you ventured out in to.
Your work is your babies, and amount of time poured in and everything that entails of what it takes to write a book, especially it coming from a place of sincerity, something you poured your heart and soul in to, it's quite understanding how it would anger you to hear or read negative or unkind statements. After 40 years of defending yourself that I'm sure is exhausting and over whelming. I'm truly sorry for the stress you've endured.
For what this may be worth it for you, for every naysayer that's unkind towards your book, always try to remember those whom are in support of you.
Try your best to focus on the ones who respect your work and believe in you, and of course Lucy and Desiree.
There's many factors of why some are inconsiderate with their comments. You do have a right to defend yourself if their words are toxic, rude and abusive but I can definitely attest that it won't change their mind. But if you feel compelled to express yourself in your natural way of defending yourself, it's certainly your right.
Personally for myself I try to stay in another state of perspective to not pay mind to the cruel opposers cause I know they'll always exist. So I look it at it as those who've read your book may or already have recommended your book to others to read, maybe it's someone that's been hesitant to believe Lucy's story but because they trust their friend's judgement, it could change their perspective. Actually I'm pretty surprised at the amount of support you've garnered, cause when it's come to Elvis's life from my lens it's seem very territorial and closed minded.
I think one important aspect to keep in mind is the false stories from others in the past who've claimed to be Elvis's child and they definitely put a thorn in any potential and real legitimate claims of those who truly are his child. That's one of the beasts you've been up against. The falsities have made it a huge struggle for the authentic one trying to prove herself, so I commend you for busting down those barriers cause that isn't easy. Give yourself big credit and congrats on that!
But always remember, those who don't believe, disagree and share their thoughts in a respectful manner have space to do so but it's a belief they've held for a very long time. It has nothing to do with you, it stems from a cumulative of reasons thru the years of their support of Elvis, what information they've read and listened to, those with false claims of being Elvis's child etc... so to be quick to anger will just solidify their beliefs. You'll make more lead way with them in trying to understand how they've been set in their beliefs. Planting good seeds opens the door of change.
      You've done a great job!

@@Stoppingnarcissism8406 Excellent take and well written. Props. You are so right about one thing. 99 percent of the comments are positive. Those who get it and love the book. That's been a great revelation during these podcasts 40 years later. But as it often is with society, the squeaky wheel - aka crazed naysayers - get the grease - along with my ire. As I've explain to many of them, I have nukes - aka all the facts - and they are shooting children's air soft guns.

You don’t break down and cry if you don’t, so I’m definitely looking forward to more conversations with Billy I understand if he don’t want to answer certain questions Because it might bring back a bad memory and I know what that’s like and I want to hear some good times about Elvis because we know Elvis didn’t like doing the movies and it gets you upset about that but but did he still have good times making movies even though he didn’t want to did he have some fun It’s nice to hear what was going on in his life back then good or bad so Billy if you get negativity comments, I hope you read my comment. Don’t stop coming back and talking to Joe. Joe and another person who has a channel is the they are the two nicest people who have a channel they are sincere. I don’t watch anybody else. Whats unfortunate is-the mass amount of gaslighters (my belief of75%) in TODAYS world that are fully incapable of understanding how life was back then, and how relationships can have meanings with any distance. I find it absolutely incredible the %of people that have 0Zero clue what their talking about yet leave an opinion without considering ANY facts whatsoever. For those that find it easier to post negativity about another person they have not ever met makes the posterperson an extremely illogical& mentally shallow person. Tickets were pretty cheap and went to many places. I don’t wonder about such meaningless details. I ponder how does Lucy have a daughter that looks so much like Elvis and how did she know to put the name Presley on the birth certificate all the way back in 1958. How does Lucy have cards and a million dollar poem written by Elvis? And why did Graceland put up a fight to keep it out of public view? How did Lucy have details and a perfect timeline without much know in the 80’s to find things out? Why hasn’t anyone been able to poke holes in anything Lucy has said? Maybe it’s the obvious and the easiest conclusion, that she 100% was telling the truth.

Plus, where Elvis wrote "love," he used a lowercase "l" and I compared that to his known autographs and they had the same lowercase "l". Heck, SpaGuy found and interviewed the gentleman, Van Sandt, who cut another acetate with him that year! Elvis traveled alone to AL, to do this. They shared a meal. E needed a dollar for gas to get back to Memphis. Plus! He met a new girl there. It's a wonderful video of this story.
Sorry, but I thought everyone knew you had to travel and play anywhere to get your name out there. My father did.

That scarf would be half a century old. The reliability of that kind of DNA evidence would be practically non-existent.

@@supowell1 and a blood cell the same age would be just fine ? and how do you know this ? they are using saliva from much older envelopes and stamps for dna evidence

In all honesty, DNA degrades over time we’re talking 50 years. Almost nothing is going to be testable unless it was protected by the elements probably not even a shirt with blood on it, but who knows. Just to give you an example DNA on degrades 90% within 45 days.
