Joe you've made good choices in your life. Nothing is free, it all comes with a cost. To have a family that you love is priceless! Elvis was looking for someone who would love the real him, not the image! That's what made Lucy special to him, everyone else never just loved the real man and he knew that. Keep praying and ask God to lead your steps...
Oh! I have a personal story you and Dary might enjoy. As I've mentioned in the comments, I've been down the rabbit hole of Elvis' life. I've been feeling a lot of mixed emotions as a result. I live on Vancouver Island and it's very dark and rainy here this time of year. I've been crying a lot lately about Elvis and Lucy's story as well. Last week, I was taking my dog to the park and I was grieving Elvis and crying. The next day I woke up to the most beautiful sunrise, with a view of Mount Baker in Washington state from the picture window in my kitchen. A flock of birds flew across the landscape. I gazed out at it for a moment, then noticed just above the mountain was a cloud that looked like two eyes and a big smile. Elvis is a silly man. It was very sweet, but also really funny at the same time. I remember in the book when Elvis told Lucy he painted a sunset for her. 😊 I like when he said to her "Let's go speak to the earth." God, he was an unsual boy. Very unique We all are, I guess. He just stands out because we are blessed to have access to so many stories about him.
Beside nightclubs and bands, Elvis attempted to find a spot in one of those gospel quartets he loved so much. JD Sumner would let him into the back door at gospel singing events, so Elvis could watch for free. He auditioned a few times to be in a quartet in late 53 and early 54. This was before he hooked up with Scotty and Bill in June 1954. .

The 19 year old Elvis was not surrounded by anyone 24-7. And Elvis' associates have said many things that aren't true. It seems they were all in a competition to prove who was Elvis' best friend and confidant. Why would Elvis leave something in his will to Lucy? Everything went to his daughter, as it should. If Elvis had known about Desiree, he could have changed his will. Elvis was only 42 when he died a very unexpected death. No one, especially him, was prepared for him to die.
Elvis definitely played on his own. He was already looking for a band before he met Scotty. If he was playing small clubs in the 50s, why would anyone have documentation? People think in 2024 terms with access to information; it was not so in the 50s.

@RareElvisPhotos Good Morning Joe! Just got to answering because I was still watching you with Dary. Boy it's never boring with him and never a lag in conversation. It's like I have a lot to say and short time to do it. ( On the short side of 80)😂
@@sandralybrand9425 Interruptions like that are an occupational hazard with a journalist/author. Necessary to flesh out a story and have more of a back-and-forth conversation instead of long speeches with confusing parts and head shaking holes. It's the difference between writing "He walked into the Oval Office" and "Everyone gasped as Elvis strolled into the Oval Office wearing a purple velvet outfit topped by a cape and glittery sunglasses, with his hair long and shiny black, with clumps falling into his face." Can't get those colorful details without interrupting the story teller.
I agree. Grace Pearl's book is probably worth a read, but better to have info from people who knew Elvis intimately. It's unfortunate that many of them have passed.

"Elvis the Pelvis" was a usually a semi-smear from the older generation when Elvis exploded on the scene in the 1950s. It backfired as the legions young record buyers thought it was cool and sexy. Pretty much faded away after his Army stint.
By the way, when you were talking about Michael Jackson copying some of Elvis’s moves and I totally believe that. Elvis was the first entertainer that stood on his toes. Also, James Brown was the first to do the moonwalk long before Michael Jackson.
Well, I wasn’t an Elvis era, but I was watching Elvis and it looks like he was the one that did the first moonwalk dance not Michael Jackson love Elvis Presley. Michael Jackson was a very talented person and I love that thriller album, but Elvis Presley is my guy.

I was surprised how many people recognized the Thriller jacket, and how many had no idea why I was wearing it. Assessment: A. The Thriller song and ground breaking video - the most expensive ever made at the time or maybe still - must run in phases. But often shows up around Halloween. B. Friday the 13th seems to be fading away in memories and parties. Maybe because people are afraid of being cursed?
No Dary I'm just a one woman fan and that fan is of Elvis and that's that there's some stores I like I like but I love Elvis Presley and I'm only his big fan no other and I've never liked the Beatles not even when I was a kid
Billy Jo Smith and his wife said Elvis Presley could never keep a secret. I think if this was true Elvis Presley close family members would have known of Lucy and her child.
If you look for an intetview that Donna Presley did 3 weeks ago. She put photos up of herself as a young lady. Desiree looks like Donna's double. It was a channel called Jim Masters TV. Go have a look let me know what you think.
I believe Dary is referring to me when he says there is a psychic in the comments. I'm empathic with well-developed intuition. This has been the case since I was about 4/5 years old. I don't consider myself psychic. I do not identify with that. I perceive the soul life of individuals based on sensory and perceptual information. I can't predict the future nor talk to your deceased relatives, not in the stereotypical way. Dary is free to use this term, of course. I was going to explain this in the last video, but my comment did not post. All I can do is intuit the life of Elvis based on the information everyone has access to, but I observe subtle cues, body language, tone of voice, and behavioral patterns acutely. Essentially, I'm highly observant. I pay attention, when I want to. I am working on a writing project, a story about Elvis's life, so I am hyper-focused on this currently, hence my presence in the comment section. When I observe and study someone, it is not a whimsical journey through a crystal ball, it's a deeply empathetic and often painful experience. I essentially experience Elvis' life and death as if I was his family member or friend. It comes with the same emotional.awareness. It requires the acceptance of the human condition completely, even the unsavoury stuff. I can fall in love with Elvis and see all his struggles, and even the things that irritate me about him in a span of 5 minutes or less. Lucy was right when she said he was a silly man. He was a silly man absolutely. Definitely a special soul. Last night I envisioned him as a great film actor into the 80s doing the films he wanted to do. He would have been celebrated for it.
Ever see the TV show "Psyche"" The lead actor played a "Psychic Detective" who claimed to have paranormal abilities, but in reality he was as you mention just extremely observant having been trained that way by his police detective father. Similar as well to the TV show "The Mentalist."
@DaryMatera I haven't seen that. I wasn't trained though, although I think many working psychics are. I was born like this. It's been this way since I was four. My paternal grandmother was also this way. We were close spiritually, like the way Elvis and Gladys understood each other. When my grandmother had dementia, I was the only one she spoke to with a clear mind. She couldn't recall anything and rambled on about nonsense to everyone else.
@@SarahAngell-w7z My ex squeeze the psychic astrologer psychiatrist was feeling paranormal strong one evening out in a park and played the numbers game with me. She asedk me five times to think of a number from 1-30. She got it right all five times. The ultimate test. Freaked me out! What man can hang on to a woman who is a mind reader? But I road that bucking bronco for three years before she finally threw me to the wolves.
The book Letters from Elvis are writings from Elvis and reveal a lot of personal info from Elvis' life. Interesting Elvis' spelling errors. An English teacher had exercises to improve spelling & word comprehension. The exercise is to daily pick out 5 words from the dictionary and write out the meaning.
Recall Neil Young sang a song deriding Southern men. Mentioned in the classic dance song reply - Sweet Home Alabama. "A southern man don't need him around anyway."
Elvis was a practical joker. So the sink exploding and the faucet spraying was pretty amusing. Probably Guadalajara was the setting for Elvis' spanish movie.
Fun in Acapulco was set in Acapulco, thus the title. Guadalajara is nearly 600 miles away. Not sure why the shift in the movie. Maybe Elvis just liked the song?
Doesn't fit Lucy's personality. Lucy would have never messed up my hair before an international podcast appearance. She knew all about the importance of stage makeup and fashion. Recall her conversation with Elvis about glitzing up his outfits for Vegas - thus the creation of the famous jumpsuits. Elvis clearly would play jokes like that.
You got me a little confused Joe because Louis got in trouble with RUclips and said he can’t read no books no more unless he gets permission from the author
Recently Oprah was at Graceland Riley showed her a black box Elvis traveled with Oprah raised up a comb and said oh look here is a strand of his hair then drops it.Presleys archive people wouldn't give that up that could maybe show some dna
I do have a question for you about for Billy. I’m not sure what you said one of his brothers passed away. I thought you said Rick but I’m not sure if I watched the other brother David. That’s a good question. I never watched what they had to say it was only one time, and his brother was at an out at the Elvis place where they had his outfits and pictures and his brother was very angry. You could tell the way he talked about Elvis and he made it very clear that he did not like his music at all and he said let me make that clear, so it was like he was very angry, but I’m not sure which brother that was if that was David And if you don’t mind saying why did Vernon and his mother get a divorce? I didn’t even know that.
David was on a lot of the shows with his mother, that's why I have no use for him. Because he talked about the drug use and has insisted all these years that Elvis committed suicide! 😡 The only Stanley brother I like is Billy. He's the only one that's never said a bad word about Elvis and waited over 40 years to write his book about Elvis, and it's uplifting, not a bad thing in it! To me David is no better than their mother! Ricky has a bad drug habit, and I believe he's the one that was sneaking drugs to Elvis, when Dr Nick and the guys were regulating Elvis drug use! They Ricky got clean a few years after Elvis passed and became a minister. I saw a clip of him talking about Elvis in his sermon and he talked lovingly about Elvis to the congregation. David wrote a couple of books not very flattering. It was only after Billy's book came out, and was well received, that I saw he's writing a book in the same vein as Billy's about Elvis religious side 😂 Still looking to make money off Elvis like he has all these years! 😡 Elvis had to get all 3 boys out of jams in their teens. ( Even Billy) In fact Elvis banned Billy from Graceland for a time. Billy Smith confirmed it, but wouldn't say why. He said it wasn't his story to tell, that only Billy Stanley should tell or not tell. His wife Jo Smith also knows, but she agreed with Billy Smith.
Isn't the psychic book by Grace Pearl?! She also wrote a second book, 'Beyond the Stars: My Seven Year Journey with Elvis Presley', which I have. Grace Pearl was interviewed by EIN. In the second book there is Elvis content as well as other singers or musicians. I have to look it up but the greek heiress. He Elvis talks about the spiritual purpose for things they go through.
One exceptionally important book was written by May Mann. She recorded conversstions between Elvis and her.He discusses his illnesses. It was first printed in the seventies I believe. It can be found.I did.
Also bought 3 May Manns books, but however it's important to read them critically. They may have been written as publicity books. I like them for the perspective on the Elvis history.
Yeah, Grace Pearl wrote the Elvis channeling book. As mentioned, my fascination with it is that it's almost entirely based - from what I've read - on Elvis' relationship with Lucy.
Elvis co-wrote 2 songs, That's someone you'll never forget, and Ýou'll be gone. Red West takes all the credit of course! But both seem very likely to be about Lucy. Worth listening too.
My understanding is that Elvis provided the "title" of the song, "Someone You'll Never forget" and Red W. wrote the lyrics. The song was about Elvis' mother.
@@supowell1Sime of the songs Red wrote, Elvis had input. He would tell Red what he wanted the song to be about and would make suggestions. ( Like separate Ways) Red knew Elvis personal life and what he wanted to say.

And apparently, he didn't go down very well.
And he looked Mahvelous!
I loved listening to both talking about anything ❤ Interesting...❤❤❤👍❤🐈🐈⬛🎄
John Rich is a good guy to sing your song, I love your shows with Darry❤️
Mum is a title of respect.
So is mother and mom and mommy. So why mum?
@DaryMatera It's just a British thing. Often they will call their female superiors mum at work as well.
Marty Robins Don't worry about me.
Yes! I don’t know why I couldn’t get his name into my mind!
El Paso! Rosa's Cantina. Fab song.
When talking to Dary about Elvis misspelling words. I remembered an interview with Jerry Schilling saying when Elvis wrote letter to President Nixon he ask Jerry to pre read on the plain ride there.
The singer your referring to the is johnny O keefe, went and seen him in concert in march1957 his band was the Deejays, and his first recoded song was the( youhit the wrong note Billy goat, and he was born in a 1935died year after Elvis 1978

This is the book I have with the blue cover, i bought it from a book sale for $9,99 over 30yrsago in Western Australia, where I live, pages have yellowed a bit but still in good condition👌
Wonderful can you send me pictures of the aftermath? Rareelvisphotos@gmail.com
I think Scotty McCreary could do your Elvis song justice!
Catching up on Sunday morning and on my 3rd cup of coffee and a nutrition drink ( my breakfast❤)
Good morning Sandra!
@RareElvisPhotos Good Morning Joe! Just got to answering because I was still watching you with Dary. Boy it's never boring with him and never a lag in conversation. The only thing is his interruption when you're talking. But I'm forgiving of it, because my son's say I do the same thing 😂 I think art of it comes with age.
Most are gone!
Joe The Beatles really Elvis is the greatest The Beatles never ever sorry Joe
The Beatles were pretty darn great as well.
You're not going to win I will argue with you till the moon and the stars fade away I never liked them and I never will and that is that Dary

Joe you've made good choices in your life. Nothing is free, it all comes with a cost. To have a family that you love is priceless! Elvis was looking for someone who would love the real him, not the image! That's what made Lucy special to him, everyone else never just loved the real man and he knew that. Keep praying and ask God to lead your steps...MITTE DM.....Good discussion 😊
Also that she put her children first, because that's what Gladys did! ❤
Do y'all know he hated being called Elvis the pelvis he said that was the most childish remark coming from an adult
"Elvis the Pelvis" was a usually a semi-smear from the older generation when Elvis exploded on the scene in the 1950s. It backfired as the legions young record buyers thought it was cool and sexy. Pretty much faded away after his Army stint.
Elvis also made grammatical errors in his letter to Nixon.
Great point!
By the way, when you were talking about Michael Jackson copying some of Elvis’s moves and I totally believe that. Elvis was the first entertainer that stood on his toes. Also, James Brown was the first to do the moonwalk long before Michael Jackson.
Nothing wrong with entertainers being inspired by their heroes.
Well, I wasn’t an Elvis era, but I was watching Elvis and it looks like he was the one that did the first moonwalk dance not Michael Jackson love Elvis Presley. Michael Jackson was a very talented person and I love that thriller album, but Elvis Presley is my guy.
No he is worried about losing his time with his family and watching his boys grow up!
I've loved this video but I have to admit I'm glad I'm not a songwriter Joe there's no way I could come up with that type of money That's a lot of money thank God I can't sing while I sing but not professionally I don't think anybody would want to hear me sing MITTE

Marty Robbins sang Don't Worry Bout Me
That's Priscilla for you The bobblehead or should I say the crock pot head
Elvis had a Pink Cadillac catch fire on a stretch of road in Arkansas!😮
MITTE ❤Another great discussion!
Welcome sarah!
Joe I hope me taking all day to finish these videos but it’s Saturday and the whole family is home, you know how that is 😂
Watch when he sings "Trying to Get to You" on the '68 Special. That was for Lucy!
I just don't think so. He was in the middle of a public "torrid" affair with Susan Henning, which continued until 12/68.
@lolajoker I'll pray for you.
Southern men spell words the way they sound.I know, because my husband and all three sons spell the same way!😂
Recall Neil Young sang a song deriding Southern men. Mentioned in the classic dance song reply - Sweet Home Alabama. "A southern man don't need him around anyway."
Janet6686 I totally agree
Elvis was a practical joker. So the sink exploding and the faucet spraying was pretty amusing. Probably Guadalajara was the setting for Elvis' spanish movie.
Fun in Acapulco was set in Acapulco, thus the title. Guadalajara is nearly 600 miles away. Not sure why the shift in the movie. Maybe Elvis just liked the song?
Why are there tapes with Elvis’s voice?
Clint Black is ill. :(
I always thought Clint looked like Roy Rogers.
@@Kat-kg7euMe too! ❤
How do you guys know it is Elvis playing with you? It could be Lucy. 😄
Haha! Maybe!
Ok seeing you sing live was the best little part of this interview 😂
I don't know the reason for the divorce. I presume "irreconcilable differences," but not sure. I do know that Elvis paid $250,000 for the divorce.
I recall that Vernon's celebrity as Elvis Presley's father made him a target for groupies and gold diggers and he succumbed to the temptations.
Yes, I have bought 3 books by May Mann. Got the sense she was in love with Elvis. @@margarettaylor8107
Oliver Anthony Music would do great at the Desiree Joe song. Trump played his vid at a rally not that long ago. What do u think Dary? Check it out😊
What's the song?
Elvis co-wrote 2 songs, That's someone you'll never forget, and Ýou'll be gone. Red West takes all the credit of course! But both seem very likely to be about Lucy. Worth listening too.
Red West was the biggest w@ nker put there he wanted to ruin Elvis 🤬🤬🤬
Knowing Elvis, he probably let Red take all the credit and the royalties. That's the kind of guy he was.
Charles Manson also hung out at ine if the Beach Bits hiuse hoping to get to record, but got kicked out because if his craziness!
