The sound engineer needs to get a fuckn knights cross for this set.. the sound is tight as fuck!
Sounds great expect for the bass, needs to be turned up. It’s getting drowned out a bit by the drums and guitar.
Dale gets about 2% of the credit he deserves. Drummer from Hell.
he's even SINGING background vocals on top of that! Unbelievable
Melvins is half Crover half Buzzo
Looks like 2 drummers, who's the other guy.

@@TheHoratciosounds about right
This is one of the greatest live sets by anyone, anywhere, of all-time.
shaft9000 yup
I was about to say the same thing... Amazing!!!!
Unless you hate melvins that is
Fuck yeah!!!!
I've watched this whole show a couple times. Gonna watch again. Epic sound, so much power, tribal, gutpunch, all the words...
I don't know if people realize just how tight the drummers are together. Amazig.
Don't worry we can hear the wall of sound they are producing. Unreal
Almost perfectly in sync.
@@toke7342yeah, yeah, yeah... That's what all jealous folk say.
Try it.
Yeah especially seems as if they are one left and the other right handed !
that is correct. Coady Willis (High on Fire, Melvins, Big Business)is a lefty@@chaoticus06
You know you are respected personally and professionally when everyone on tour stop to see you play, and rocks out on your set
when they play air guitar or air drums...then you know it's a hit
Ian Smith crowd seems awesome here
i know right, i can see eyehategod jamming out in the back
yeah it was awesome to see the guys from Down and all the other bands rock out to the set like they were 18 years old, it was so much fun. I also remember how right after the Eyehategod finished playing Jimmy Bower told the crowd to go see Melvins and started the whole crowd chanting Melvins... my buddy turned to me like 'I didn't know he's in Melvins as well' and I was like 'he's not, he just loves em'.. He couldn't believe a guy would literally stop the crowd still cheering for his band and tell them to go see another band :)
@@Mightning For real, even Bower said The Melvins is pretty much the root cause of the whole NOLA scene
This band is proof that you don't need pyrotechnics, dancers and special effects to make an incredible show. The best bands that I've seen live are those that impress through their musical skills, showmanship, energy and atmosphere and Melvins is one of them.
I cannot stop coming back to this. For years.
By not taking themselves seriously they have made their presence that much more frightening. This shit appears to be real and extremely powerful.
I know this is a 5 year old comment but I agree with this 100%. By appearing "weird" or funny in their appearance and in their album covers/song titles, they can make it easy to underestimate them...that is until you see them live. Not that I ever underestimated them, or didn't take them seriously but... I saw them with this line up and it was like being a deer caught in the headlights. Brutally loud and very powerful. The moment they hit the first note of Dog Island it wasn't "funny" anymore. It was awe inspiring.
Jesus look at all those heavy hitters on the side of the stage.... so much respect to the melvins from everyone...pioneers
King buzzo is one of the gods of rock n roll.
Could someone provide info on whos who side stage?

@@JoshuaCBaer I can definately see Phil Anselmo. Just by his mannerism lol.
Think I see Matt Pike
Phenomenal fucking set by a band that, after three decades, can still get up on stage and absolutely kill it by showing everyone exactly how it's done.
I've just now checked this band out after ignoring them my whole 38 year old life. These guys are fucking incredible. I'm really lost for words. I can hear everything in this yet these guys predate it all. Unbelievable creativity.
They are the BEST
the lyrics are like some secret language.
and "load" is in every song.
@@j.copache4788 buzz says he thinks many songs has really creapy lyrics....think a talked about either "up the dumper" och "skinhorse" but im not shoure
Yall need to understand what Dale and Coady are doing live... not to take away from Buzz and Jared... if you haven't seen the Melvins live with this lineup, you will never know the feeling of two high energy drummers live. It's profound.
I've seen them live several times, but unfortunately never when they were doing two drummers. Hopefully they'll do it again someday.
I got to see them at the old Amoeba record store in L.A. totally by chance.
you got that right brother!! I've seen the Melvins with several different bass players and two drummers as well. A wall of sound is all I can say. I started seeing them in 1990 and for evermore will go to a Melvins show in my late 50s
Uh ooow i used too, i still do but i used to do it too...
Sorry; random accessories stepping stone game theory sentenceroo like
A cockatoo jumpin fenc.... leave it be.
Just discovered Melvins the other day. Fuck yes
John Johnson 👍 i bet youve had a ripper last 2 years listening to all their stuff!!!
I can only assume you're living your best life by now
I'm 5 years behind you. 🤘🏼
This comment made me cackle and grin like an evil old lady 🤣
for some of those newer listeners check out hostile ambient takeover. that ones my fave album you guys may like it too!
Phil Anselmo partying his ass off the whole set on the left
Don't act like you wouldn't be
The whole DOWN squad is partying there!
Jimi bower and eyehategod
Honestly, thank you to the Melvins for recording so many of these shows. I think the Melvins x Big Business era of Melvins history is the best era. Having two drummers and four killer vocalists was such an incredible space of time. Senile Animal is a treasure.
Well i cant take credit for this...I think it was french television...i just snatched it and reuploaded when it disappeared
Vocally, I think all 4 really killed it on The War On Wisdom where they just keep passing on the vocal torch to each other, that song/ep is such an underrated banger..
@@MindTheDriftThat EP was such a beautiful ending to that era. Friends before Larry/A Really Long Wait are the peak of this line-ups power to me.
this is the greatest performance in the last 50 years, these guys should be rich.
They are for sure! You dont need fame or money to have a rich life

I've lost track of how many times I've listened to this, it just never gets old. Would have killed to have been there.
I keep watching it over and over. I, too, would have killed to be there. Such a KILLER set.
Me too mate, Wow Wow Wow!!!! And with the Nola Crew stage left, this must have been the best gig ever!!!! and what a Fuckin setlist!!!!!!!!!!!!
Holy shitballs my ears just jizzed
I love how they keep doing cool things like having 2 drummers or now in 2018 on their current tour they've got 2 bassists. It's just like they're always making it more interesting. They're a band that can inspire you in a new way every time you watch them. So much respect for these guys. They deserve the highest honors.
I can't believe 88 people thumbed this down. Like the music or not, they are exceptional musicians with an original style and they give the audience their full effort. Total professionals. They've had a bigger impact on rock music than anyone else the past 30 years
one of my favorite concerts on youtube
Soon to be mine too
Ya this is seriously one of the best . This and EHG at the same show . As a result of these two shows Im in constant search of landmark shows like this .
I was at this show, in the very front. I can whole heartedly agree it was fucking amazing!! I have seen the Melvins 20 or 30 times but this show was the one of the best!! (even cooler was the fact that my friend and I were on the same plane from LA to France with them and I have an amazing picture of my friend and I with Buzz and Dale at like 6 AM landing to switch planes in Amsterdam)
WoW!! jUST WOW
Cool
that is freaking epic dude!! nicely done!!
The Melvins. Now a fan for 25 years. And they just get better.
Being a fan for that long, you should know it's Melvins, not The Melvins...ugh!
The two drummers are perfectly in sync…nicely achieved! 👍
I’m pretty sure the MELVINS kicked every other band’s ass that night.
The Melvins/Big Business tour line up was a force of nature. Some of the greatest shows ever played by humankind.
I watch this every time I get drunk. I dunno why it calls me back, but I love it!!!
haha i have watched this drunk easily 20 + times ... fantastic every time
This is so true wtf
bottoms end up
count me with at least 40 + but I was high af too
Try Melvin’s live at palladium covering Black Sabbath. Best drunk RUclips video imo
King buzzing is the man , his hair reminds me of sideshow bob from the Simpsons
Phil anselmo is to the left of the stage looking slightly drunk having fun.
No... Sideshow Bob's hair reminds you of King Buzzo ;-)
Some bands think theyre cool for having two bass drums, melvins are so cool they have two drummers
+eqsmooth indeed they do not
+eqsmooth King Crimson has three drummers
the Love Dungeon yeah but that playing outside the beat thing king crimson do is really shit
+braig crogan huh?
the Love Dungeon thats cause theyre dope dude
2023. still bangs. long live the great king buzzo
2024.
holy crap the side of the stage is the who's who of NOLA heavy music, and they are going insane, especially on Night Goat
ahaha yeah, so fucking great!
They bow to the best
This guy Buzz Aldrin was first man on the moon
He's also the arch nemesis of Bart Simpson. Such a multitalented guy.
He's also apart of star command, zurg is the sworn enemy of the galactic alliance
The Moon is fake news.
He's also expert at delivering the anal
@@Koettnylle Sideshow Buzz
This should be studied and worshipped.
This is one of the best "live acts" I have ever seen. I hadn't listened to much Melvin's prior to this. Huge fan now. I love how Philip anselmo is rocking out left right stage the whole set. So killer. Pure entertainment.
This is probably the best show I've ever seen, wish I could have been there in person.
I was there ! Truely a great moment.
Had they played “the bit,” this would have been my favorite set list ever.
I´ve just watched some performance , can´t recall the name of the festival , but it was 2003 with Kevin Rutmanis on bass ... incredible coincidence that " Let it all be " and " The bit " were the two songs which stuck out the most in there .
That song should indeed be mandatory \m/
Wherre? Time ?
I've seen The Melvins twice and both times, watching them, I felt honored to be there.
In the early 90s they played a lot in Seattle and me and my friends would make it a religious experience. We dosed on DXM and got in the Melvins pit for the best moshing of heavy metal love brotherhood. Dudes rocking out to the heaviness on stage while tripping balls. Wowza, I do not recommend trying to duplicate it. It happened and now I can talk about it but nobody spoke of it to anyone but in our circles. I saw Christ Noveselic at a Melvins show walking around alone with a shot of Jaeger in his hand. This was before Nirvana blew up and they were just another garage band. Christ was cool and tall as fu** He stood out among the crowd. Kurt didn't go to shows, he was kind of famous in Seattle and he didn't like it. But the other guys partied with us all the time. Chris Cornell, Layne Staley They would hang out and have drinks with everyone after their shows. Gruntruck was always a great band to jam to they played all over the place with all the other Seattle bands and Tad too. Very friendly dudes. They would play a set and then have a beer with you and talk about sports and shit. It was nice man. Then MTV fudged it all up. And Mudhoney got little run they deserved. Matt Lukin, the bass player had business cards he would pass out that read, Matt Lukin, Bass Player. He's a nice guy, buy him a beer.. and He would hand them out at shows. It was awesome back then.
Being in my late 40s and having watched this more times than I can recall , I can safely say that this might just be my favourite ( Heavy ) " Rock " performance of all time .
And having been into this band for 30 + years has got jack to do with it .
The Melvins are one of the best bands I ever seen
Phil rocking on out with Jimmy Bower on the left!
One of the best concerts ever recorded. Nearly everything is perfect here: The band's playing, the setlist, the energy, the crowd, the sound and the video quality, the editing, Jimmy Bower and Phil Anselmo rocking out on stage. Thanks for loading this up!
I keep coming back to this video. Normally live videos on youtube don't really capture how good the performance really is.. This video does. This would have been an incredible show to witness in person. I know they always kick ass live, but this show would have been a whole other level.
Just discovered melvins...in the last year...im 59...love zappa...sabbath...soulfly.bluegrass...all the good stuff...loving the melvins...im sad i didnt discover them 30 yrs ago...melvins rule
Saw this tour when they came to Detroit. Every local band in the area was in the audience.
2 Drummers HOLY SHIT DUDE THAT IS SO FUCKING INSANE!!!
Went into a record store yesterday and picked up a Melvin's vinyl now I'm hooked haha
No bands from the Northwest can even come close to the power, majesty and insanity of Melvins!
Coming from someone who experienced this time (the 90’s in Seattle), I agree with the exception of Mother Love Bone
Roman Bird Dog..found my wedding song!
All of the big new orelans sludge bands are just chilling in the background.
The greatest opening of a concert of all time
Half a million views! how cool is that!
the last 50 were me.
I watched this show probably more than hundred times :D
@@eLCe_Wro same here.... Now maybe once a year.. 🙄 😋
One of the best concerts on youtube!
Never fails to take me where I need to be. 🌙🐐
You could blindfold every person on stage and this set would be just as tight.
This is the best gig I’ve ever seen on RUclips
Love me some MELVINS !!! 🤘
They're absolutely killing it!
this version of Honey Bucket is just mind blowing, destroys everything!!
Ps. After all these years i had the opportunity to hear the live (2023 Bologna IT)
A fucking dream!! I was in the pit on Honey Bucket ahaha

Melvins arena rock show tour must happen. They're in their element in intimate venues but to craft this into an arena rock event would be epicness on the scale of the Melvins. It must happen to America. Sold out, mass promotion, blown away minds, media hype and frenzy across the nation. Not too many openers but still, call it Melvinsfest. Have local bands be the openers, the Melvins come out and kill. Leaving jaws on the floor. Mass volume. World record decibles and heaviness. Feel the heaviness from the venue out through the parking lot into the surrounding environment. Melvins are coming to your town. get the popcorn and feel what they bring.
I dont agree. I have seen them live multiple times, and the biggest places are always the worst, specially if you are standing to close or way in the back. best seems to be a bit back from the front slightly off center. And from the live footage here on youtube festivals outdoors seems the absolute worst. Small clug-gigs are way better in my opinion
@@mudfly3 yea you’re right. The heavy would be lost on the expanse. But shitballs America if they could put together a sound system that could abide something like that. Dude!!!
@@mudfly3 hey man. That’s great you’ve seen them many times. Such a good show every time. Melvins is probably the band I’ve seen more than any other. I lived in Seattle in 1990 and Melvins played all the time with Nirvana and Mudhoney and many other bands that got huge too. We would look in the Rocket newspaper to see where the Melvins were playing and be at every show
Definitely,
I have watched all of the their full concerts on RUclips and this one is their absolute best. The sound is perfect. The performances are glorious.
Why have I never heard them on the radio, ever! But, I have known about them for over half my life, and I am 45 now!

Boy oh boy do I miss my yearly appointment with the Melvins live...and the 2-drummer era Melvins with Big Business in particular! Had to come here to make up for it, but nostalgia hits even harder now!
