This hybrid of Castlevania, Blackthorne, and Altered Beast is a fantastic action title that the English speaking world really missed out on when it got left its native Japan.
Wonder if it has anything to do with the Succubus in the cell/topless boss etc. - clearly it wasn't a localization issue as the game has minimal text. *watches further* - oh, and that girl being tortured to death on the train probably had something to do with as well.
I cannot but agree with your consideration of this as an hidden gem in the SNES library. I also like train levels, so the one here is possibly my favorite part of the game. There is also a bad ending. You can decide to not take any orb and stay human all the way through but, apparently, it works even if you take only some (just saw another video with the bad ending, and the player fighting with Abel in dragon form). The cat in Iria's arms in the intro is very goofy!
+Davide Mascolo Yeah, I loved the whole thing. The good ending is actually kind of hard to figure out, you have to collect the three gems specifically in the order I got them in to get it. Otherwise you'll always get the bad end

You can also keep using the same form three times, without cycling through other forms. Doing so and reach the final stage will also net you the super version of the form you stick with. (EX Blue Dragon -> Platinum Dragon)
The first time I played this game, I got the so called "good ending" totally by accident. I had no idea the crystals were relevant to it, I only wanted to try new forms.
mack papi Here's a summary: Bayer is Abel's ex-bff. He sold his soul to the devil, and included Abel's wife and kid in the deal. The wife and kid were then used to help resurrect the devil. After he finishes his exposition dump, Bayer nearly kills Abel. Abel sees a vision of his family that makes him decide to sac up. He then proceeds to fuck up his evil buddy in a bad way. His wife has been killed, but her spirit becomes a fairy to help her husband in his attempt to save their daughter before she is killed too. Does that help? :D
i LOVE the aesthetics, minimalist story, and overall concept but my god is this game frustrating, and not in a good way. your characters attacks and movement abilities feel so limited, especially compared to the bosses

The only time gamers will have aquaphobia is when they play water levels.
