It will be interesting to see how the taste test goes Graham especially as you are omitting the addition of Guinness. I personally love chilli con carne and the hotter the better, but I very realy have it with rice, I find it a bit dry so I mainly have it with chips or wedges or a buttered baked potato with lovely crispy skin or on decent sausages in rolls the perfect chilli dog. And for convenience Uncle Ben's jars are OK but loaded with sugar but making from homemade is the best way, and I might offend Texans but I always add a few tins of kidney beans and baked beans to my chilli. Some recipes ask for the addition of dark chocolate but I have never added it to my chilli 👍👍🌶🌶

You could try a teaspoon of cocoa powder, Robert. Really enhances the flavour.

@@Val-from-Leigh I have had some amazing chilli's on holiday in America and one in particular was out of the world it was just a bowl af chilli and a bread and butter roll as a starter before the steak main course so I might have had chilli with chocolate in, so next time I make a chilli I will do a separate batch with cocoa powder in 🫰🫰
