    tbh it's not a queendom curse, it's an industry-wide curse. most companies are dogshit, there's hardly a group out there that hasn't been mismanaged in at least some way, and it's such a cutthroat industry that lots of groups go through major hardships. unfortunately it's to be expected that any random six groups you select will encounter a range of difficulties exactly like this whether or not they appear on queendom.

    • @cloudchungxiao
      @cloudchungxiao  Год назад +4

      Yea, I clarify the title in my final thoughts. But yea, being an idol group within the newest generation is a whole next level of so much happening and oversaturation that everything getting digested and forgotten about so quick. Probably right about picking any random six but what shocked me so much was how quick the fall off was.

    This video is overreaching. Queendom wasn't really a high rating show enough to make impact to the idols popularity. It's just another idol show, nothing to do with curse or anything.

      Also, issues like LOONA's horrible management and Kep1er's lack of musical identity wouldn't really be fixed by a popularity boost, even if Queendom 2 had done well.

    One big difference between Q1 and Q2 was that in Q1, you didn't know what was coming. For example, groups didn't know they would be covering each others' songs in round2. I am sure that had Viviz not known about this, they would have performed Bop Bop in the first round, but then would have lost Rough to their coverers in Round2. It's imho why they waited to do it until Round3.
    Adding Kep1er wouldn't have been that controversial, either.

    • @cloudchungxiao
      @cloudchungxiao  Год назад +1

      Yea; they really recycled the same format which obviously not the worst thing. But it felt less exciting since you could kinda guess the songs-ish for the most part since most groups would choose relatively popular songs and all of their catalogues of songs had just a few well known songs to them

    wjsn is just fine, they’re past the 7 years curse, their last album recorded high sales and i just have so much hope for them now that starship cleared up the status of luda and dawon i’d give them some more time before they make a comeback and i’m sure it will be fairly successful, they were never *THAT* big to begin with so just the fact that they are still here after all these years and recording decent album sales is a success within itself, i wouldn’t deny mismanagement claims (and mistreatment in their earlier days) starship could definitely push them a bit more but i’m just saying that they are doing okay being the least affected by both the “post ioi groups” curse and now the queendom curse they are truly queens, the way as you wish climbs the charts every year on new years just proves that wjsn has left their mark on the korean public they survived so many curses lmao i don’t think it’s fair to compare them to ive and the way they are promoted because ive is a rookie ground while wjsn is a senior group i wouldn’t expect a group 7-8 yea into their career to come back as frequently as a rookie group with the exception of twice, so yeah i agree wjsn and viviz coming on top i enjoyed their performances the most but i didn’t see a lot of favorable reviews of viviz’s stint in queendom, i’m not very sure about how good their sales are but i like their music i personally liked their most recent comeback more than loveade.
    i’m not gonna talk about brave girls because they’re as well as disbanded, rollin was just not enough to sustain a successful career and this was inevitable. i won’t talk about hyolin either because idk much about her.
    i’m worried about loona and i don’t know whether to be worried about kep1er or not. kep1er is still doing okay despite everything and with them being halfway through the duration of their contract i don’t think there’s much to discuss either, however i’m excited for their comeback but all the other big groups ive and lesserafim are making comebacks soon so idk, their fans will be there for them but the general public’s attention will be divided.

    • @cloudchungxiao
      @cloudchungxiao  Год назад +6

      Ohh yea, WJSN achievement is impressive in itself. No denying that considering where they started off to where they are now. Just a very 50/50 game in how starship will utilise the group and how much of a priority will they be. Not expecting them to receive Starship's unlimited attention but hoping it's the bare minimum for what they've been able to achieve.

  • @burban7986
    @burban7986 Год назад +16

    honestly i think the biggest difference between queendom 1 and 2 is that queendom 1 has popular groups participating, therefore giving the participants a larger stage, queendom 2 had basically relitively small groups besides loona.

    • @cloudchungxiao
      @cloudchungxiao  Год назад

      Yea, for sure. I mention that in my final thoughts but also I saw a good comment where they explained how relatively new most of them were or like not that in the spotlight especially in Korea. This may have been a decent line up for Road to Queendom but maybe not Queendom.

  • @haewonized
    @haewonized Год назад +3

    I wouldn’t say there’s a queendom curse… brave girls wasn’t really every consistently successful, loona’s legal issues were a ticking time bomb since debut, kep1er is doing just fine and really is only “flopping” compared to debut JUST like iz*one…, wjsn is already an older group already, and Viviz is just fine

    • @cloudchungxiao
      @cloudchungxiao  Год назад

      With brave girls, they were just thriving so much once rollin got that boost and so the fact they went to queendom 2 because things were slowing down; only for them to kinda do not much after the show ended. Lowkey feels bad when Brave entertainment thought the next best thing was to try capitalise on another market as oppose to solidifying the market they have. Loona' s issue just kinda exploded out of no where ngl. Like they just existed and were giving Stray Kids vibes where they had such a good fan base backing them up from becoming to unknown within the korean demographic. But yea didn't see that coming with BBC. Kep1er lowkey been quiet; which might be because they've been doing more Japanese promotions. But I feel like Iz*one was always constatnly growing with each comeback. Like each one was solidifying their names while Kepler is slowly regressing with kinda not that strong impact that we kinda expect from a MNET group. Viviz is kinda doing alright and we'll just kinda see how they do. But WJSN seems to be getting to a point where idk what their future will look like with IVE being the main priority. Like what is there frequency of comeback now with IVE in the company and then Luda and Dawon going to be in diff agencies but still with the group

    If I’m not wrong Brave Girls have actually disbanded, in February 16, the same day they all left, the last single ‘goodbye’ was released. So sad that they couldn’t keep going.
    I watched this season and it was pretty mediocre. There were a few good perfomance (viviz’s time for the glory, hyolyn’s touch my body or loona’s shake it comes to mind), but I think the lineup wasn’t strong enough. I heard they reached to a lot of groups but they ended up with the only ones that had time for it (they reached to groups like Dia but they refused).

    • @cloudchungxiao
      @cloudchungxiao  Год назад +2

      Minyoung clarified that they weren’t disbanded and had only left the company but yea, it feels like the group is almost basically disbanded because it will be difficult to reunite.
      But yea, honestly did feel like that. Idk, Season 1 has so much impact despite me not knowing a good chunk of them. But then this season, I knew them all and there really wasn’t anything that wowed me

      One of the big differences between season one and season two was you had Mamamoo in season one. I'm sure they were pushed by RBW to appear on the show because they had zero need to appear (my guess is CJ E&M had some kind of incentive to RBW to get Mamamoo to compete). Take away the nostalgia of Bom competing and Mamamoo and I don't know if season 1 would have been any better than season 2.

    • @cloudchungxiao
      @cloudchungxiao  Год назад

      Yea, I mean it depends on who they get swapped out with. But some of the other groups held their own. Oh My Girls held their own and got second place; G-Idle with Lion which became a sleeper hit in itself; AOA and their variety skills. Was gonna mention Egotistic, but without Mamamoo; they wouldn't have been able to cover that. Plus without Bom, we wouldn't have gotten Soyeon's Ethnic Hip comment too; so another positive ig hahahaha

    Huh didn't even know viviz was doing numbers. I literally forgot they existed.
    Hope wjsn will be able to keep their momentum, I really like them.
    Tbh I still think viviz and kepler being on that show was a mistake. They had fans, sure, but way to little music to perform. I'd have preferred some more established groups.
    The whole Loona thing is just sad tbh. Wishing all of them the best.
    So is the Brave Girls disbandment. I mean I saw it coming from miles away but it still hurt.
    I loved Hyolyn's performances on queendom but sadly neither her final rank nor her post-queendom success are anything extraordinary. I was so exited for her comeback but didn't really like her finale song nor her subsequent releases...
    In general the show was kinda a flop ngl. I wanted to watch it but it was just so boring and the editing so atrocious that in the end I only ended up watching the performances... and except Loona Shake It and some of the Hyolyn stages I can barely even remember most of them. If they ever do a third season I hope the show can reach its full potential

      @cloudchungxiao  Год назад +4

      Hahaha lowkey the same thought for me regarding viviz just because i dont really follow them. But, honestly such a great feeling they were able to bounce back that well from disbanding.
      Same thing about WJSN. I really like there music and do hope starship actually put some energy towards them if they were able to still secure them in a contract.
      Loona really is a feels bad and hopefully they can all just leave BBC soon. Same with Brave Girls which I too saw coming. Literally chatting with people in my STAYC x Brave Girls x Bugaboo video before they announced it.
      But yea, the impact of queendom 2 felt lacking for some reason. Idk why but I really had a diff experience watching the first compared to the second.

    I am a buddy but I honestly miss Gfriend. Gfriend has a distinct sound that you can recognise. With Viviz I just don´t feel a connection and their songs could be sung by any other group.

    • @cloudchungxiao
      @cloudchungxiao  Год назад

      Ooooo, I can kinda see that. Idk if I've seen a distinct sound or even concept to Viviz yet compared to GFriend like you could tell.

    • @elfofsuperjunior9250
      @elfofsuperjunior9250 Год назад +4

      Ssdly i must agree with this.
      Go to queendom just after the disbandment and newly debut actually not the best decision. Not that it was completely wrong, but.. They actually like lost puppies. I mean they lost their leader, main vocal and fotg, and they can barely decide what's kind of music they would like to do.
      I mean, in Lee mujin services, eunha admit bop bop was a song they made for queendom not for their actual debut, so they made a really quick switch and make it for their debut.
      And I actually feels they didn't found their style yet. Or maybe it because gfriend image was too strong that it still shade them.
      And I also think, before they actually have clear view abt what kind image, what kind music gfriend would had.
      But now in viviz, I think the company also doesn't really decide what kind image viviz would had.

    • @cloudchungxiao
      @cloudchungxiao  Год назад +1

      Yea; I see what you mean. I think the most positive was that Viviz was able to be experimental during queendom because they were freshly new as the trio. So they could try see what sound they like as the trio as oppose to just directly copying Gfriend again. But didn't know that about their debut song. Kinda interesting choice to make though.

  • @babyfaceweeb8937
    @babyfaceweeb8937 Год назад +1

    You know... I also noticed this with the contestants of the first queendom. The only ones that were really thriving were Mamamoo, G-idle lost a member, AOA went through a huge scandal and was practically destroyed, Lovelyz disbanded, Park Bom is still an underrated queen, and Idk what happened to Oh My Girl.

    • @cloudchungxiao
      @cloudchungxiao  Год назад

      Mamamoo has lowkey been getting mistreated now as they kinda push them aside for more solo activities and less promotions despite how in they are. Plus there releases ever since their seven year anniversary have not been making too much noise too unfortunately. Oh my girl lost a member too and like they're just kinda making one comeback a year with the most recent one not doing as well.

    I'd heard of all of them except Hyolyn, and I knew who Sistar was, but I wasn't a big enough fan of any of them to care what the outcome was, and I thought the show was so poorly presented that it wasn't interesting to watch. As others have pointed out, the truly interesting part were the groups' interactions, but the station squelched that entirely. So I didn't watch it, and only caught a few of the performances.

    • @cloudchungxiao

      Yea, not much of queendom two had solid fanbases. Viviz was restarting new, Kep1er recently debuted, Brave Girls only recently saw success, Hyolyn had been a kinda long hiatus with not much activities, and Loona and WJSN were alright but would have suited a Road to Queendom type of show.
