    MNH gave up on them too soon. All their resources were being reinvested in Chungha (she was their priority). Seungeun's exposure on GP999 could've given them an extra push (she was a well-known contestant), but MNH failed to capitalize on them. They waited too long to give BVNDIT a comeback after her elimination (about 9-10 months), which caused her momentum to fade. FNC Entertainment gave Cherry Bullet a comeback a couple of months after the conclusion of the show (May, Bora & Jiwon were contestants). New fans tuned in for their Love in Space comeback. They could've had a decent run as a GG, but MNH just wasn't interested anymore.

    • @cloudchungxiao

      MNH failed to capitalise on Seungeun being on GP999 but also she was paid dust in terms of screen time and then that little mistake in the blackpink performance kinda just solidified she was not gonna be favorited.

    Venom was phenomenal. I was just getting curious about kpop after being a fan of BTS for 2 years. It was so disappointing to hear that they have disbanded soon. The issue with the kpop industry is that kpop groups are no more than products to most of the companies. Almost nobody cares about the music, or the talent. They are all about capitals, debt structures, and cash flows.

    • @cloudchungxiao
      @cloudchungxiao  Год назад +7

      Yea, that is the sad reality. Considering the many costs incurred to even function a kpop group and promote them; unless they're loaded and able to just spend however they want, profit does matter to some extend and cost restraints put restriction in how well companies can do for their groups

  • @diggysdungeon
    @diggysdungeon Год назад +20

    I was so disappointed to see a group as insanely talented as Bvndit get mismanaged so badly. This group had everything - incredible vocals, distinctive rappers, amazing songs, cool dances. It just never made sense to me that they weren't one of the top girl groups, but as you've explained here, management and scheduling can often be more important than actual talent in k-pop sadly. As for my favourite Bvndit moment, Dramatic will live in my head rent-free forever. I bonded with a friend over that song and we both still absolutely adore it

    • @cloudchungxiao

      @@cloudchungxiao I think it hits pretty hard as a song so definitely could have been a strong debut, but I love Hocus Pocus such a lot as well. Basically any Bvndit song pre-Children would have been a very strong debut in my opinion. Children is amazing too but it's a bit too pretty and subtle for a debut.

    Thank u sm I was waiting for Someone to do a video on BVNDIT 🥺❤️. They and Chungha clearly deserved better by MNH. As a Turning (8TURN fan) I just now 💯% know in order to debut them they disbanded (and they slightly were more popular than debut but I felt like if not for EVNNE getting nominated for best new male artist for 2023 Mama, 8Turn would’ve gotten nominated just like Chungha & BVNDIT) BVNDIT however I’m kinda worried later on the boys will get mistreated the same way the girls were. We all know how bad they managed Chungha and BVNDIT.

    • @cloudchungxiao
      @cloudchungxiao  Год назад +3

      Do you think Seok Matthew will be added to the line up? because that could change their trajectory. But also looking at the rookie boy group list, it's pretty stacked so I could kinda see how 8turn just missed.

      @gwenmloveskpopandmore Год назад +1

      @@cloudchungxiao no most likely they’re gonna try their best to turn him into male Chungha which I know will either make or break mnh and possibly break 8Turn and it could all become a male version of Chungha & BVNDIT VS Mnh

      Ohh right. I'm following ZB1 here and there but haven't seen that "it" moment to understand that he would do well as a soloist just yet. But yea, MNH has not been able to properly manage two artists at once kpop style so we'll really have to see. 8Turn is doing well but if Matthew pops off within his first year, then Bvndit situation might happen. Plus they'll slightly be older in seniority and so there will be an expectation to have secured a decent fanbase.

    I always considered BVNDIT as one of the best 4th gen kpop groups, and I know for sure that their talents and musicality could compete with groups like (G)I-DLE or IVE.
    Sadly, we've all seen how bad they were managed.
    Basically their company would keep giving them songs that only succeed when the group is already popular, not songs that MAKE the group popular!
    The only song that had a chance of making them popular was not promoted (Dramatic) and that was the biggest mistake in their career.
    I mean the fact that Dramatic is still their most streamed track even though they did not promote it speaks miles, they missed their chance on it.
    They should have debuted with Dramatic and then came back with Dumb, the rest would have been successful then. They had EVERYTHING!

      YES!!

    • @cloudchungxiao

      Not sure what you mean about the third line in choosing Bvndit's song. But yea, dramatic was pretty good. Could even have done something like H1-Key and Young K but with Hui since Pentagon was still coming off the high of Shine one year before that.

    • @Raphael-2
      @Raphael-2 Год назад +1

      @@cloudchungxiao Well every big group has those songs that made them popular, as opposed to those songs that were successful because of the group's previously established popularity. Sometimes it's less clear if the song would have been popular regardless, sometimes it's very obvious that it wouldn't have.
      What I mean is that most of BVNDIT songs are good but are the kind of songs that need to be pushed by a big fandom in order to succeed. It could have worked only if their company started with songs like Dramatic that the public was loving and asking for, so BVNDIT would have gotten a stable fanbase that would have pushed the rest of the songs. But the company kept digging deeper into giving them songs that only put BVNDIT further from reaching a large public. Everytime I was like "I like this but it's going to flop because BVNDIT fandom is not big enough yet to push songs like this" and I was sadly right every time. Similar thing happened with CLC. They treated CLC like they were a group with a huge fanbase selling millions whatever the song, and it was simply not the case. It's like the companies really overestimate what a mid-size fandom can do and get lost thinking they're safe but they're really not.

    • @cloudchungxiao
      @cloudchungxiao  Год назад +3

      RIght, makes sense. Yea, Bvndit had good bvndit songs but not great GP friendly songs. Unless MNH was going to do more with proper promotions for the members, the songs were going to be their only main distinct feature to them

    You are my favorite go-to youtuber for this kind of videos. Whenever a group disbands, devastated fans always say that it's all the company's fault (understandable though). But that answer doesn't satisfy my curiosity. I always believe that there must be several factors in one's downfall. I see you are always thorough in your analysis videos, both while discussing the company's failure and other existing factors. Yes, I do watch similar videos from other youtubers, but IMO they put too much emphasis on the management's part. Therefore I like your videos the best.
    BTW, I don't know if you are interested in this topic, but I'm intrigued by stayc's position within the industry. As a swith, I want to believe that the group has secured their place as one of the top 4th gen ggs. But they are often left out by korean medias when talking about top 4th gen ggs and not as often being talked about as their peers. I find it ironic because fans see highup pushing them so much to attend many events and shows to the point we are worried they are being overworked. But their recognition is still not that big both in Korea and international scope 🥲 It frustrates me because I'm in limbo about their status and to what extent I could place my expectation for them. And what exactly lacking from their situation which makes them hasn't been able to reach the heights that their peers have reached? Is it their marketing strategy? Their concept? Is it because all the members are equally treated by highup and fans, thus no one really gets pushed to be at public's eye (like wonyoung and tsuki)? Does coming from small-to-mid-sized-company really hold them back?

    • @cloudchungxiao
      @cloudchungxiao  Год назад +2

      Thanks :) It definitely is easy to blame the company which I do from time to time. But that's defs not the only reason for everything.
      Defs an interesting topic. I think of StayC as still a rising rookie / dark horse within Kpop. I know they got so much initial success from ASAP but it could have headed towards that one hit wonder route but it didn't . Luckily, they've been able to build on that, and maintain a level of success. All the factors you've mentioned could be a contributing factor but would have to look into it more to see what the reason would be. Could even just be a Kang Daniel thing, where StayC is just popular group, but their fandom and listeners are relatively more civil and don't need to do the most to prove their existence within the kpop community.
