- HERE YOU WILL SEE THE FDNY OPERATING FOR A 5TH ALARM 10-60 / 10-86 CONSTRUCTION CRANE FIRE AND BOOM COLLAPSE ON 10TH AVENUE IN THE HELL'S KITCHEN AREA OF MANHATTAN IN NEW YORK CITY.
Seriously. So unbelievably talented.
This video came out less than twelve hours after the incident.
Poetry in motion.
Thank you John.
Glad to see that Joseph Pfeifer who retired in July of 2018 from FDNY after 37 years of service making him the last fire chief on site of the September 11 Attacks to leave the FDNY. has NOW become the First Deputy Fire Chief the second highest rank in the FDNY in 2023! Being from the UK I saw along with Many others documentaries on 9/11 and often wondered what happened to him after that I am so glad he stayed with the NYFD after the trauma of 9 /11 and the loss of his brother in the collapse of the North tower! his face (even though he's older) is STILL recognizable to people all around the globe! God bless him at 67 he is still giving his all and service to the people of New York! I sir salute you a true hero if ever there was one !
This is more in-depth coverage than Fox orCNN! Great job John!
WELL, I TRY MY BEST FOR YOU ALL JOHN.....THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE KIND WORDS AND SUPPORT.....
@@THEMAJESTIRIUM1I’ve commented a few other times BUT not sure if they reached you specifically. Coming from a 1st Responder FIRST HAND & 2nd (my husband the MVP BECAUSE HE IS THE FIREMAN......I AM TOO BUT I just drive the rigs and operate but primarily EMT & ER skills) also from a family of all kinds of 1st Responders, Military, 6 types of medics or more, ER medicine, LEO ETC WE CANNOT THANK YOU ENOUGH FOR ALL YOUR VIDEOS WHICH WE ALSO USE NOW MANY TIMES in training.......I’m sure at some point you’ve talked to some asking for your permission. I’m in MS BUT THEY ARE ALL OVER THE US & world.....your videos are truly THE BEST!!!!!!! If you EVER NEED ANYTHING I CAN PROMISE WE WILL FIND A WAY TO GET IT TO YOU so that you can continue!!!!!! I pray for you almost every day because I KNOW HOW HARD YOU WORK ETC & the toll it takes (my Dad was former Homeland Security I can say it now he’s JUST retired last year full time unfortunately after a massive heart attack and aneurysm & only my step moms ER skills getting him out of state in GA Last Memorial Day And 3 hospitals he’s still with us BUT I KNOW his stress got worse when he was pulled out of retirement during Covid because of his skills 😢😢 BUT ITS WHAT WE DO🦅🦅💪💪) BUT YOU ARE VERY HIGHLY RESPECTED, ETC & your work used to help MANY OF US do things better also SO THANK YOU AGAIN 1st Hand..... I couldn’t say a few things before now....but perfect video to show others!!!!! I KNOW THE ANGLES CAMERA WISE ETC that you do and how hard it is. STAY CAREFUL MY BROTHER!!!!!🙏🙏🙏
I've been in the Fire service for 16 years and have not seen half of the random things that happens in NYC!!!! 😮
But it's NYC if it can go wrong it usually does there
YES, EVERYDAY BRINGS SOMETHING NEW TO THE CITY.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
There's no end to the excitement here...
In NYC all things are possible. Good things and unfortunately bad things like fires.
I saw this on the news! Geez!😳
The man who produces these videos is an absolute genius.
I wish him the best.
Every single one of the videos you produce are so incredible.
I’m watching this video and it seems like a professionally produced recreation of a true story.
Absolutely incredible.
Thank you so very much for what you do.
I have heard the Safety Dep. chief talk about how he likes his videos and uses them to help point out things.
Good stuff for sure!
He does incredible work. When he covers a fire his footage practically puts you right up there with the firemen. One evening I was watching him covering a building fire and he got such great closeups of the fire making its was into one of the rooms.. it was as if I was right up inside of there fighting the fire. I could almost feel the heat through the video.
The fire fight who give the radio call to evacuate the damage building did a really good job at making sure tue evacuation order was heard loud and clear
I TOTALLY AGREE.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
@@THEMAJESTIRIUM1 the city brough back Chief Pfeifer as an assistant Commish... cool
As soon as the fire started, they had to stop people on the sidewalk and street below. That did NOT happen.
Outstanding coverage John. It's an absolute miracle no one was seriously injured. Hats off to FDNY.
Again I sit in awe at NYPD FDNY and all other firsts responders..if you are in trouble with a quick phone call scores of people will arrive within minutes to help you…. Think about that for a minute….. NO other professions like it! God bless these heroes
This is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever read on RUclips.
Fdny has 197 engines and 140 trucks the engine has crew of five and the truck has crew of six the manpower alone from engine and truck company's is staggering.
Now when you include all the special company's the FDNY has the luxury of calling what seems like unlimited resources that most department can never achieve.
As for nypd I'm sure you get the idea just how well equipped they are also.
These are pretty much the men and women the country look up to for ideas and inspirations, especially ones that are in city areas like this. There are always fire departments and police departments that search for new innovative ideas how to make their jobs easier. Ever since after 9/11, FDNY has had now a plan for just about any disaster they face. This one was a true testament of their talent, skill, bravery, and wisdom, the same values they carry with them every day, every call.
FDNY employs 16,000 people. Don't complain about your taxes, and you wonder why everybody is leaving NY. No concept of resource efficiency and taxpayer value for money. By 2025 NYC will have a $7bn deficit. I wonder why?
@@stevenpivornik9982 Yep, they all look at NYFD and say, jeez if we could send 150 firefighters to every incident, with all kinds of random people shooting video of us, we'd be like rock stars too...
No ends of the metropolitan universe or fear of heights, nor heat of day, nor gloom of night will keep our man from making his vlogs with the viewer feeling of actually being there too. Great coverage !
Yes and so real that when I was watching this video on my tv, my vertigo kicked in really bad and I finished watching it on my iPad! 😂 love the view but on the iPad! 😂
Outstanding video coverage, great views from above, FDNY had their hands full with this incident, thank goodness for no deaths from this. The sky line of the city was wonderful too, your videos have shown the rest of us what New York is like, thank you. Stay safe.
John, you really went "above and beyond" today! Great job as usual. Hells Kitchen really lived upto its name today!
That could have been so much worse on so many levels. A lot of luck and a great fire department. You can tell a lot of thought went in to dealing with this incident. FDNY, the best 💪🇺🇸. Thanks John, you put a lot of work into this as well. Nicely done. Be safe
Wow, this could've been a disaster. Get well soon to the injured people and firefighters. Great video John.🚒🇬🇧
John ,
Much thanks for your tremendous & ongoing dedication & hard work in bringing these Clips of the FDNY'S Work !
You definitely earned your keep on this one !
It's nothing but the Grace of the Lord Jesus Christ that no one was seriously hurt or killed on this Very Serious Job !
May you Stay Safe !
Great comment this is the best channel he does excellent work 👍
Did you notice the Battalion Chief vehicle driving right under the collapsing crane parts and the Tower Ladder also very near?
Could have been very tragic but thank God they were not hurt.
This is a great presentation of FDNY at work, starting with the excellent video of the stricken crane atop its pedestal and ending with Manhattanites going about their day among all the FDNY vehicles and members. Real estate companies may find advantage in tall structures, but I've always felt safer with my feet on the ground. The New York Crane company may be regretting having its name so prominent on this disaster.
GREAT job! I saw the headlines and KNEW you'd be on it - Thanks so much for all you do!
WELL, YOUR WELCOME AND OF COURSE THANKS SO MUCH.....
Chief Pfeifer still going strong! Good for him! Nice coverage, John.
I AGREE.....THANKS SO MUCH PAL.....
One of your best videos John. Your position on the roof was as good as it gets. Nobody in the news media had as good a shot. You amaze me still with your ability to have the best angles. 🚒🇺🇸
Thank you sir! Your videos are direct, straight to the point without being "in your face" and your commentary is informative and entirely free of sensation-mongering exaggeration, a point very much in your favour. You let the situation's urgency speak for itself.
When you mentioned 9-11, that's exactly what hit me when I saw just the smoke coming from between the buildings. It was a very eerie memory. FDNY did a great job with this situation. Great video.
I AGREE ON BOTH YOUR POINTS MAUREEN.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
Aww man...Just incredible footage and firefighting!! This is like something out of a movie. I started to feel uneasy when you pointed the camera down. I don't like heights. I couldn't do that let alone working everyday at that altitude. No way, no how! Hopefully the operator was able to get out of there. It's quite amazing to me they were able to hit the fire with water from that high up.I'm surprised you were able to get so close to the downed wreckage. This whole event is very, very terrifying! Nice work documenting this JJ!! Some of your best work! Cheers.
I agree with you.
Great video JJ. This is probably something most of us will never see outside of a Spider Man movie. Your explanations were very helpful. Glad you stayed with it through the press conference. This made the NBC Nightly News.
You can't make this stuff up! Nobody would believe this scenario if it was in a book!! But the FDNY does the impossible and you do the impossible by capturing this event!! FANTASTIC VIDEO. BTW, all the while you were shooting from the roof, busses were arriving and departing from the Port Authority Bus Terminal!! And watching those guys hitting the crane platform from the adjoining building--spectacular!
You are superb in what you do. Best video of all I've seen of this incident.
WELL, THAT MEANS A LOT TO ME TO HEAR.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
Brother, your coverage is unmatched. No other RUclipsr or actual news agency comes even close to what you do. Thank you!
Fantastic vantage point. I've never been to NYC except to the airport so I appreciate the explanation of the area. Seeing it all from a bird's eye view--spectacular.
Horrible incident so well covered. I always like watching the firefighters work together like a well-oiled machine. Thank you, Mr J.
Another great video John! You are the BEST Fire Buff/Videographer in NYC.
WELL, THAT MEANS A LOT FOR ME TO HEAR CHRIS AND OF COURSE THANKS SO MUCH.....
Great stuff videoing the units coming in! Your channel is my hobby and I'm training to become a firefighter in the UK! Amazing work as always Brother! Thanks so much from across the pond!
Great job by all agencies, but especially FDNY. You have outdone yourself again JJ. Above and beyond 👏🏻👏🏻
John, you da man! Love your coverage, getting all the angles, radio chatter and all the effort you put into bringing us into the situation. You can tell you are respectful and respected by the members. Great job!
John, You are just going farther at every new call! Your work is "Over the Top"! This has to be one of the best example of FDNY Bravest going "Above & Beyond"!!! 👍👍👍! Atlanta FD had a high angle Rescue from a tower crane. But FDNY had a fire forty plus stories above the street and they put it out! Outstanding 👍👍👍!!!! Your Work gets better and better....📢🚨Hats off to FDNY in the 🌡️of the Day!
Absolutely the BEST COVERAGE TODAY!
Thanks for giving us Brilliant Pictures & Audio!!
Best fdny videos on RUclips. Whenever I hear something happens in the city I know I’ll see it first hand here. The shots you always get so close are amazing.
460+psi on the engine pumping that high up is impressive.
WELL, THAT IS MOST KIND OF YOU TO SAY AND IT MEANS A LOT FOR ME TO HEAR.....AS FOR THE ENGINE PSI, I AGREE.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
@@THEMAJESTIRIUM1 your very welcome. Stay safe out there.
John, you're reaching new heights - haven't seen you so high 🤣🤣 wow, great camera work & coverage, this could have been so much worse if it happened a few hours later. Excellent job by FDNY!! Not your average fire.
Great job my friend this was right around the corner from Rescue 1 nice to see commissioner Feiffier this crucial update of what happened great job by the members and EMS this is not the week for anything big with this heat but the members train for this outstanding job by all involved!!
Great video John .This is crazy no one got killed in this incident!! Another great effort by the FDNY as always the best Fire Department in the world Keep up your dedicated work down there and stay safe brother ! K ...
Damn.....how dramatic.....When I was a fire dept officer I never thought of handling such an incident.....Well done with this....fantastic coverage John....
YES, IT WAS RARE INCIDENT INDEED.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
WOW that was bad Great catch seeing the crane's Mass Falling to the Ground was Awesome. and what Hot day. fantastic Coverage JJ. Thank God no one Was Hurt bad or Killed.
And yet they put the damned fire out. Those guys are absolutely amazing.
YES, THEY ARE! ONCE AGAIN THANKS SO MUCH.....
Yo! I saw this on Reddit about half an hour after it happened. So glad you got actual coverage of this.
When I saw the initial video of the collapse, I was like, can’t wait to see your coverage, which is always the best and most thorough! Sometimes I think you’re spider man. 👏 👏 👏
WELL, THAT IS MOST KIND OF YOU AND MEANS A LOT FOR ME TO HEAR.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
So cool that Chief Pfeifer has come back as a Deputy Commissioner.
I AGREE CHRIS.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
This was mentioned on BBC News overnight, and we said Yep, JJ will be there!
Wow, what outstanding coverage of this disaster, and some stunning views over NYC at such altitude.
Amazing effort by FDNY to get hoses and water up the new building to finally cool down the remains of the crane! Thank you JJ.
I can’t believe how close that crane missed that cement truck. It looks like just a couple of inches from the air but it’s probably just a few feet. God bless the people of New York and all the first responders, whatever they go through, they still stand strong. I’m from Central California, I’ve never been to N.Y… well just the JFK airport to switch planes to go to Massachusetts in ‘91.. and after switching planes to go to MA. the guy I had to sit next to was so cool, he asked if I’ve been to N.Y., I said no, my first time to the east coast but on my way to visit a friend who lives outside of Boston. The guy said he commutes back and forth from N.Y. to Boston once in awhile for his job. He pointed towards the N.Y. City and said, “see those two tall buildings? That’s the World Trade Center buildings”.. I said, Wow! I felt bad because I just saw a lot of tall buildings and I was also so tired because I took a red eye flight from California. I wish I got his name, he was a cool guy plus he was so cute lol.
The Empire State Building …. majestic and serene. What a building.
YES INDEED! THANKS SO MUCH.....
wow amazing coverage of the big fire in the sky of the fire from the crane fire awesome job jj an all the fdny brother for all hands fire
Awesome footage thank you for your work in keeping us informed of what emergencies are happening in NY. 😊
I am watching this and thinking - at Gas Stations they have those Fire Suppressor Systems and the gas fire is smothered. Perhaps Cranes should have them as well - since they are so hard to fight - and pose such an extreme risk.
Tis is the best footage that I have seen sofar from this incident. My compliments, and keep up the good work. Give this man a sigar
Thank You JJR, I heard about this on Sky News here in the UK and wondered immediately if you and Skyler would attend. Much love guys, and thanks again!
YOUR WELCOME AND YES WE WERE THERE.....THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE LOVE AND KIND WORDS TOO.....
Congratulations on the great professional work John, always the best angles to follow the work of the firefighters 🚒🧯🧑🏽🚒🇺🇸🇧🇷🇯🇵
what great coverage of this event. I love watching your videos. Keep up the good work
I don’t know how you do!! I was getting dizzy just watching this. Great job! And thank you to those firefighters!
I DON'T KNOW EITHER....IT WAS SCARY KIMBERLY.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
Great great great job!!! JJ we love you. Please stay safe at these calls! As my grandmother used to say,” I don’t mind if you fall down. I don’t want your clothes to get dirty!!!”.
Thank you my Friend for the great Video! Greetings from Germany
YOUR WELCOME AND THANKS SO MUCH.....
Excellent video presentation! God bless the FDNY. But I think it’s so cool the “gangs” of personnel congregating in groups waiting for the order to return to their houses. Kinda an “unwind to be social” time.
I'm pretty sure network TV didn't have any coverage to match this one. Great job!
WELL, I TRY MY BEST FOR YOU ALL AND THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE KIND WORDS AND SUPPORT.....
Great camera shots and coverage as usual! Thanks
Thank you Brother for doing this video I'm now a new subscriber, and thank you to the NYFD for doing a stand up job! 👍
Thanks for the great coverage, again! I dont know about you guys, but I got instant goosebumps when I saw First Deputy Commissioner Joseph Pfeifer at the press conference after you mentioned about 9/11. Huge respect to all the fire fighters out there.
John. As always. A great job of reporting an unusual fire. The angles are amazing! I’ve said it before - FDNY is the bravest and the best in the world. Your videos are studied by FDNY members. Your squad unit deserves official recognition as a
FDNY photo journalist. You seem to be on duty 24/7. Thanks for your extraordinary service.
Lights and siren! 😁
wow wow wow.....JJ......great work on this specialized vid and superb descriptive comms....as always Squad 99 on scene or rooftop to give us the best angles.....👍
hmmmm time for 99 Station to add a helicopter for these sky-high aerial incidents....😃
Maybe they should build a dome with a hose. Japan or China use something like that. One day I was watching youtube fire channel and they had one that they where using.
Fantastic video awesome coverage..You did a spectacular job on this video 👍...⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐... FDNY superb job. The best...
Yeah John Your The Best FDNY Chief Of Department
WELL, I DO NOT WORK FOR THE FDNY BUT I AGREE IT IS THE BEST FIRE DEPARTMENT EVER.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
Love when you pan around the skyline and identify New York landmarks. Be interesting to hear stories of some of the landmarks. More of this please.
Thank you for your good work. I'm sorry you had flashbacks to 9-11. I wish you the best.
YOUR VERY WELCOME AND YES IT DID BRING BACK BAD MEMORIES FOR SURE.....I OK NOW THOUGH AND OF COURSE THANKS SO MUCH.....
At least the good part there were no more inuries to a6 peole and the craine and constuction worker got out. Enen the concreate truck driver with tue help of FDNY first rescuse teams. Jj i am sorry that you had ptsd of september 11 2001 expecially when the craine boom arm dropped into the street with its's load of concreate. Ps good choice for FDNY AMD YNPD to only have the very miniumal equipment amd person in a a round the craine fire site while at the same time haning back up at safe staging points close the tue site
What Brad said.... you do an amazing job on these video's along with the commentary. It's good to see that the security in these building that you always get into and on the roofs of is first class....Thanks again for the coverage
Another great video you almost look like you know what you’re doing! All seriousness this was the most forgiving 5 alarm fire I’ve ever seen and I thank the Good Lord it wasn’t worse. Thank you for such outstanding coverage!
HAHAHA! VERY FUNNY JAY AND YOUR MOST WELCOMED! THANKS SO MUCH.....
Hey John it was the boom that was severed from the cable when it caught fire? The crane was carrying 16tons of concrete and as the fire burned it weekend the cable.
The arm of the crane is called a boom
YES INDEED.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
When I read about the collapse, I knew you'd be there. Man, you did not disappoint. That was some top-notch footage as usual. You almost sent me to the hospital when you looked over the edge of the building. Damn near gave me a heart attack, I hate heights, lol. I must say though, that view of NYC from up there was spectacular. I really hope those injured in that collapse make a full recovery. That is some scary shit. Thank you for the coverage.
i bet the concrete truck operator and pump had a change of underpants , the lattice boom came pretty close to them when it fell. I surprised to see that the hydraulic oil tank didn't explode .good on the firefighters for doing such a great job
I THINK SO TOO.....IT MUST HAVE BEEN TERRIFYING.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
Wow 😮 what a amazing job by all great team work by all .watching from the U.K.
JJ I was listening to this on the scanner and knowing with confidence I would see your video on RUclips and like always you never disappoint.
Keep the videos coming and stay safe.
Instead of clutch player winning when it counts your the clutch video player when it counts.
Great video, always the best footage! That was the craziest near disaster, so glad nobody seriously injured, miracles do happen, great job FDNY, all responders!
Chicken Little the sky is falling. Miracle that no one was killed. Great coverage JJ. I know you like all the high places 🤣🚒👍🚒👍
Im in the UK and saw a quick report on the BBC news, i knew where to come to see what's happening. Great video again my lovely ❤
VERY COOL AND THANKS SO MUCH JEN.....
Great coverage JJ. Stay safe out there, brother man.
John, the shots are making my palms sweat!
that hose from afar is about equivalent to peeing into the wind. 🤣
hopefully nobody got seriously hurt and no deaths!
Once again amazing coverage. How you get to those vantage points on roof tops is unbelievable. Especially in midtown Manhattan! Those views were impressive looking downtown and over the Hudson with the Lincoln Tunnel entrance right there. I almost got vertigo every time you filmed over the side of the building you were on! Great job. Keep up the great work 👍
John, I had watched another video as you had not posted yet. Your coverage of all the NYFD surpasses any other coverage and much better than the news stations that only cover events for ratings. Thank you.
I can certainly see why that would bring back memories of 911! 🙏
YES, IT WAS A BIT ROUGH FOR A FEW MOMENTS ESPECIALLY WHEN I WAS DRIVING THERE.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
Great footage. good to see Chief Pfeiffer.
I AGREE AND THANKS SO MUCH.....
Another example of why FDNY needs Helicopter with capability to discharge Dry-chem from an expandable boom/nozzle system. Japan has a Fleet of FD copters. 22 years after 9/11, and still no Helicopter capability, a Disgrace!!
THEY COULD USE SOME INDEED! THANKS SO MUCH.....
@@THEMAJESTIRIUM1 One of the topics in my book spoke on if the FDNY had such capability, perhaps the fires in the towers might have been knocked down some to allow more time for egress. After beating our brains out multiple times in wind-driven Hi-rise fires (MD and Commercial), I cannot understand the inanity. Stay well R
John great filming job. You do an awesome job filming .
I agree with you.
WELL, THAT MEANS A LOT TO ME OF COURSE.....AND THANKS SO MUCH DAVID.....
WELL, THANKS SO MUCH ROSEMARY.....
johnny your the best, we learn alot from these videos
WELL, THAT MEANS A LOT TO ME.....THANKS SO MUCH RICH.....
Wonderful coverage John. FDNY is given many challenges and they always get it done. Great job to everyone...🤗🤗
Speaking at 57:06 that looks like Joseph Pfeifer, who was the incident commander on 9/11. Amazed to see he's still doing this. Absolute legend
Thank you for all the effort that you put into all these videos that you make they’re very educational sometimes but they are fun to watch. Mostly I’ve been watching you for the mini years you’ve been on for over 10 years plus thank you for all you do to make the videos
“Anyone got eyes on 34s rig?”
Bros forgot where they parked? 🤣🤣
THEY HAD EYES ON IT.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
Saw this on the news and was waiting knowing you'd most likely have a video for it.
COOL AND THANKS SO MUCH.....
God Bless You for showing this award winning coverage. I can tell this was very tasking on you. Get well soon. Great Job 👍
50min. into the video, I can't help but think about all the times I've walked right there under that scaffolding. Imagine TODAY people who was walking there when that crane fell. 😲 If it wasn't for the scaffolding, I think this would have gone in whole other direction!!
Thank You so much John for your amazing videos and dedication. You're videography is truly professional that makes me feel like I'm right there. God Bless You and Be Safe ALWAYS.😊🤘🏻
PS:
I'm wondering what caused the fire??
JJ, you always rock the house. Great job getting this one. Hold out for the big bucks if the Media wants to use your footage. 😃
THEY ARE CHEAP NOW A DAYS AND DO NOT WANNA PAY FOR ANYTHING.....THANKS SO MUCH DENNIS.....
I was waiting for you video good stuff my friend
COOL AND OF COURSE THANKS SO MUCH.....
No way in heck would I be able to film from up there, well done! Let alone that crane driver. 😮😊
I got dizzy just seeing the fallen pieces and I was laying down watching my phone! No way I could go up there and look down
I knew if I got on your channel you would have coverage of this event! What a fantastic job John! I appreciate you so much! God bless and stay safe.
Chief got to floor 42. I have never had a manager work that hard in any office setting I have ever worked in in my 25 year career.
A couple cranes have fallen way over here in San Francisco. My retired bus driver uncle knew a lady coworker who was crushed in her bus, she lives with life time health issues. There were several deaths. Happened in 1989.
I believe this was an electrical or hydraulic fire. Tower cranes don't usually have diesel engines on the base, but generators on the ground
YES INDEED IT WAS AND THANKS SO MUCH.....
Excellent coverage John. I’d be dizzy that high up. Thanks!
M TOO RICH.....HEHEHE! YOUR WELCOME AND OF COURSE THANKS SO MUCH.....
