Really enjoyed the day on the class 196, hoping to do more train adventures in the future. Cameo appearance from Sam's Vlogs and trains, Jen on the Move and Dispatcher on the Stour.

Both the West Midlands Railway Class 196 and Transport for Wales Class 197 Civity DMUs are very nice trains. CAF should continue on their mass production of the Civity DMU and EMU rolling stocks as they have built the new Newport train assembly plant that would see more new trains being built.

Hoping to ride on a class 197 in the future, planning to go to Chester as can get it between Chester and the Manchester Airport.

I went to Shrewsbury on WMR and stopped at Telford. I’m surprised that I didn’t get to travel on one 196. What time did you get on? 😂

Got to Wolverhampton, at about 6.30am and caught the delayed 06:51 and then very delayed 08:00 from Brum to Shrewsbury and back to Wolverhampton. So only doing peak time services in the Morning. Although there was a moment when the alarm went off at 5am and I asked myself why, 😉

Is there any reason they ordered diesel instead of hybrid trains when a lot of the track seems to be electrified?

not sure, but the Wolverhampton to Shrewsbury line is not electrified at present.
