I own one because I have a few watches that dont have a quickset date. When I stop wearing that watch, it takes forever to set the date 😂 so a watch winder is kinda important for me imo
That's a great point to consider. I hadn't thought of that
I believe there is more wear and tear pulling the crown and setting the time and date. Alot more risk damaging the crown or setting time in the "danger zone"
I agree there’s no such thing as wear and tear. it’s meant to be running perpetually is not meant to be running only when you’re going to use it
Not needed unless you have something like an "annual calender" or "perpetual Calendar " watch. Thanks for the tip 👍🏼😊
You can find them for cheap. I bought one that winds 4 and holds 5-6 stationary for 50 bucks. I'll take being able to just grab any of my mechanical watches and not have to deal with setting the time/day/date over having another $50 watch.
do you have a link by any chance? Thanks!
I’d also like a link.
Thanks for the great content that is very useful ☺️
Or just buy a couple of watches and be happy with them.
Being something of a Seikoholic, I naturally own at least two watches that can't be handwound. A winder comes in pretty handy with them, and I didn't have to pay a King's ransom for a decent one (a two-watch Versa, with independent controls and good adjustability).
Some watches aren't supposed to be set after a certain time of the day. So, if you want to put it on at 10pm, you'd damage it if you set the time/date. A watch winder prevents this by keeping it wound.
It depends on how often u use an automatic watch as well, and if ur clumpsy and heavy handed like me lol I'd say get one. I mistakenly broke my crown of my citizen gn 4ws 82 and well yeah, I can't set the date or time now lol I don't want to super glue anything in fear I'd might break it more, reason being I wound it up too much and did that everyday, please I used to wave my hand around every day to basically get it to work and due to everyday usage it eventually broke, the hands, leather band and face is still perfect for the age but pretty bummed the crown is broke
Real chads put a quartz watch on a watch winder.
Hey, my Eco-Drive looks *great* spinning around on the window sill!
It's not a "cool decoration".
If you have a watch with a lot of complications but you wear maybe once every few weeks, resetting it can be a real pain.
It has its purpose.
The common argument is unnecessary wear and tear. That's up to you to decide.
Then how to keep watch running when you dont wear it that often?
Just got a Christopher ward moonphase and wanted to get a winder so the phase is always accurately kept😊
No .
Bringing a dead watch back to life is fun .
The Moonwatch is manual wind. Please don't get a watch winder for it
That Omega GMT is nice
The Speedmaster was a trolling?
It depends, if your watch is not complicated and easy to set then youre fine, but if you have a complicated watch that you cant set easily and it takes time and effort then youre fine. It does mean youre going to need to service it more but youre going to service your watch anyways
You show an Omega Speedmaster at the beginning which is a manual movement!
Some newer speedmasters are automatic, but I agree with you, speedmasters are manual
Question: why the heck would a watch STOP working? It's got a battery 🤔 I don't get it.
My son has recently been buying expensive watches, so should I gift him a winder?
I just stick my watch to my fan.
if you have perpetual calendar, than yes, you need it. If you have moon phase, than maby
With new oils being used in watches it will take allot of time for them to dry out. Like months or maybe years.
I tend to wind my watches atleast once a month. Takes minutes for my 30+ collection.
I got one juat for my seiko 5 that is showing day+date and doesnt have manual wind option so its pain to shake it and set it everytine I want to wear it. Also i dont care about mechanizm wearing down cuz its like 100$ watch
My watch winder stops every 20mins so the watch doesn’t wear and tear as much
mine does that, as well. I love my winder.
Wear and tear? I have my dad’s Rolex that he bought back in 1980 and it still works like the day he bought it.
I can see you people are all spoiled by Quickset dates
Vintage watches need these...unless you want to spent 15 minutes going from 2 oclock to 10 oclock 30 times....
No it's not necessary. I agree with you, but it does look cool.
Oh, just reset the watch? So what you're saying is you have to set the watch's time to 6 o'clock (you have no idea if it's currently at am or pm), set the date to the day before the current date, then advance the time until the date turns over and set it to the correct time. Thanks, but I'll just take it off the watch winder and strap it on my wrist.
Step one : Set time to 5 (security reasons )
Step two : Set date (day as well if your watch has) 1 day before current .
Step three: When fixing the time do 1-3 full circles until you reach pm or am .
Thank me later !
Can you please review benyar diver watch. Its a homage .
Seen them around, will take a look
@@ChronometerCheckt would be a blessing for you to do a review on the orient mako III otr the G-Shock gm21001a I can't decide between the two for my 14th bday
Its shit
My question with setting a stopped watch is what if it stops between 9 and 3? I’m afraid to mess up the date wheel so i normally have to get it going again and wait till it passes 3. Is this unnecessary? Do I understand the 9-3 rule incorrectly? Am i an idiot?
Just change the time to outside the window change the date then change the time back if you need to
If you can afford an expensive pieces then you can afford a winder right?. i donno, i just have a Tissot and Orient (affordable) it's been doin great.
My Rolex keeps dying now I know why ha . Thanks
Says automatic watch shows a handwound speedy 😂
Just like you yourself, like to wind down at the end of the day, so does your watch.
"A watch winder" - no point - And I would argue that it does not look cool. It's a waste of money, space and electricity..... Just wear that watch at least every other day... 🤔
First comment from Dubai
Thanks Ahmed!! Appreciate it
Your welcome
and expensive 💀??
..automatic Watch and shows a speedmaster, manual..🙄
You Like the Seiko Open Hearts?
"If you own an automatic watch..."
Shows a hand-wound mechanical
*Clown.*
lol
just shack your watch every morning, like a small baby
Do you really need another watch YT channel?
Probably not, but alas
First off. Yes, do let your automatic watch wind down every once in a while. Why not. As far as the dangers of a winder. BULL CRAP. I wear my auto everyday and at night. My watch shows that it is fully wound 24/7. It's fully wound by 9:30 a.m. everyday. I wear it the rest of the day. I am active. It continues to wind throughout the day. OMG it never suffers over winding. So what in the hell are you talking about about. Stop the lies about winders. Just stop it.
Not worth it. Oil these days are amazing and don't dry up easily.
Just shake it once a month and you are good to go.
