- Is a watch winder really necessary for a luxury watch? This is a controversial topic where even watchmakers disagree!
On this video we provide reasons both in favor and against watch winders and also showcase a triple Axis winder from Wolf, who have been in the business since 1834! You can also use the link below if you are thinking of buying a watch winder and would like a discount on your purchase:

As far as Wolf winders go, the company actually has the only patented winder that counts turns per day (TPD). They provide a list of daily revolutions and spin direction required for the safety of each specific model/brand. We used those recommendations to set a Patek Philippe 5726, a frosted AP Royal Oak Chrono, and a white gold Rolex Day-Date.
Wolf has office in Los Angeles, London, and Hong Kong to be able to service clients easier across the globe.
The custom securities safes with variable level of winder panels is the newest addition to their product line. The safes can be outfitted in virtually any leather or wood to create a bespoke and secure place for fine jewels, watches, documents and any other valuables.

One really good reason to use a winder: Saves a lot of wear and tear on the threads of your screw-down crown. A good winder can be set up to minimize wind time and thus minimize winding system wear but keeps the watch running so you don't have to unscrew the crown to set it until the end of short months (assuming you have a date complication).
It's obvious that a watch is not going to disintegrate without one, but for a complicated watch like a perpetual calendar, like you said it makes sense. Regardless, a nice one like a safe winder would make for a very impressive toy to showcase your collection!
Definitely agree. Thank you for watching!
I have one myself that can fit 6 watches but I only use it if I’m going through more than one watch for the week and don’t want to have to set it, but if I did have a perpetual calendar then I would use it more often as well. And yes it’s a cool factor/conversation piece as well
Definitely Aaron. I think you summed it up perfectly. Thanks for watching!
You guys a rock stars ✨ thank you so much for this video. I am learning so much by watching these videos from CRM. Looking forward for other videos in future. From your friends up North: Toronto Canada 🇨🇦
Thank you so much for your support man. Really appreciate!
I have two Mozsly devices to manage the power reserve of 5 quality automatic watches. I tend to rotate the watches according to when they were last worn and by their power reserve. I switch on the winders for around 8-10 hrs a day only when I think necessary (not always the same watch naturally) and they keep all pieces ticking along very nicely. Super quiet, not silly money and very reliable, they can run off the mains, be linked together, or run on two AA batteries if you don't want the hassle of cables and I've found the latter easily last for over two months when operating them on the standard bi-directional 650TPD setting. They cannot overwind a decent watch - if that was the case and you wear an auto watch daily, it would break in no time. If you are going away for a long time and are not taking all your collection with you (who does lol), or simply pop it back in its box, just let the watch wind down, stop and rest. it will do them no harm at all.
Great video, and a really nice showcasing of the various watch winders. As for myself, I don't think I'll be investing in a watch winder. All of my watches are very late model, and very limited on complications. Thanks for posting. This video was not just informative, but also very entertaining.
CRM have been killing the uploads recently. Great content and really been enjoying these uploads. Like you said pros and cons. I’ll take the Wolf Watch Safe 1834 Atlas 16 piece 🙏🏻👍♥️
Thank you Edward. Really appreciate it. We've always like Wolf because of their dependability and reliability and actually wanted to make this video for a while now. If you ever want a discount on your next Wolf purchase, just holler 😉
@@Crmjewelers I will do 100%. Attention to detail is beautiful! Keep up the good work.
Loving that blue dial IWC perp!
Any chance we can see more videos from George? Really enjoy his videos and has taken over nicely from Eric .
Thank you man. George can make videos for us as long as he likes 😉
I purchased the Wolf Axis Double winder ... it is stunning.
Nice video! Great content.
Thank you for watching Paulo 👍
I have 9 wolf watch winders, double and single. And yes most of my watches are annual or perpetual calendars. The watch is ready to go when I am. Why double and singles? Since they run off of current and batteries I can easily store them in a large gun safe when I am out of town and they will remain wound.
Cool man. That's nice to hear.
You should not have the problem of your winder set to the wrong winding direction with your Seiko SKX. Seiko invented what is known as the Magic Lever in 1959 that ensures the movement can be wound despite the rotational direction of the oscillating weight. The Magic Lever is used on all of their automatic movements from their simple and cheap (7S26X, which is what is in your SKX) to their complicated and expensive (9R96, found in Grand Seiko). If this problem you described persists with your SKX, you might want to get it checked out by a watchmaker. Good video, though!
If I may ask, could a watchwinder cause wear and tear on a watch? Thanks.
Sorry my bad I said I heard that you can get a watch wider but need it not really but I love watch wonders too
almost all seiko can be wound both directions thanks to their “magic lever” system
Not necessary unless it's a perpetual calendar. Those a pain to set and you can even damage the watch if not done correctly. That Wolf 3 watch winder is beautiful.
Yeah man. The triple axis wonder is really cool and their safes are fire. Expensive toys, but for the men who have everything, they're pure joy!
Awww you guys....now I want one!
Lol
Can you make a video on the panarai Ferrari
We'll try to get our hands on one to do it.
nice channel!
Thank you very much!
Seiko has been making dual direction winding automatics since 1959, I own Seikos from the 60s that wind in both directions. No modern Seiko that I know of winds in only one direction.
yes,I think so
Where is Eric?
Eric is no longer in this channel hence the reason this channel got so much better with different faces and different educational videos.
Thank you so much Nickel. We feel the same way. Now we add a lot more variety, not just subjective watch reviews. Some people want the same old thing, but some people don't. At the end, we'll never please everybody 🤷
@@Crmjewelers the proof is when subscribes go up in numbers 👍
No, you don't need a watch winder, just tell me who you need to enjoy your beloved watch? you or your watch winder?
They're extremely helpful if you have a perpetual calendar and they also look cool af if you want to impress your guests 😜
3:49 Lol 'I wonder what watch I'll wear today?'
Open up ENORMOUS Watch Safe with dozens of the EXACT same watch.
It’s more like a battery trickle charger to a car
Watch winders are the fidget spinners of obnoxious watch collectors. The only reason to have one is if you have a large number of automatic pieces, and you want to be able to grab-n-go with your watch of the day instead of taking 2 minutes to adjust it.
Fine sir .. I hope I will have equipment like yours ... please support everyone .. like like
I hope you will have equipment like mine too 🤷
@@Crmjewelers thank you brother ... please pray and support to be like you
@@RizandesChannel stay positive my friend, have faith, work hard and always believe that you'll get there.
So....'It's Complicated". And .. It depends on 'How Complecated".. This Makes Sense. Especially the wear and tear on winding (or doing it wrong) on a complecated expensive timepiece. At least I'm doing it right. By that .. I don't have or need a watch winder. 🤣
and, Thank You!
That super safe is HOT
I don't need any, no matter what.
Thank you for letting us know.
Just watched another video here, and Wolf was just cardboard garbage with a toy motor that failed in 2 years.
AI is very creepy these days, he really looks real.
Hi knok English
I have Longines, RADO & Tissot swatches in my collection. I never used any Watch winder ?
Now my daily driver is Apple Ultra watch !
Do I need a Watch winder for Swatches??
Please clarify!
Answer: no
I take it you don't have a perpetual calendar.
@@Crmjewelers lol good point
@B M just saying 😜
Watch winders are a terrible idea.....ask any experienced watch repairer or maker.....end of!
Not for perpetual calendars or impressing your friends 😜
The Tag service centre told me to run a winder if i dont plan on wearing the watch alot and having it sit for long periods, to stop the lubricant inside from drying up. Can extend the service intervals by a large amount.
Be careful with cheap watch winder. I notice my watches are magnetise after using them for awhile. Which cause the time to be inaccurate. Now I’ve stop using winder and keep in a box.
Yes, you need to be careful what winder you buy. Wolf winders are great.
dude, just chill and wear a g-shock. just because you have more money than you know what to do with it, doesn't mean you should give yourself a hernia shaking your watch or worrying if it's accurate.
How many people do you know who have been herniated by shaking their watch? 🤣
Watch winders are made in China crap, although they showcase well but quality is low inside. So the answer is NO.
A Rolex should last forever while worn. It is a failure if it gets worn out from a winder and being used too much
unnecessary solutions for unnecessary problems, i just wear a cheap casio 99% of the time
Where's the fun in that? 😜
Yes, try giving that as heirloom timepiece. 😂
You really need watch winder even if you have cheap automatic watches.
Not really.
Nah
Common man, where's your sense of adventure? 😜
