This video is very useful, i was planning to have upper and lower crash bars for my tenere, but after this video, i think lower bars are enough and will do the job, thank you very much
On both casesthe handle bar is preventing the bike from leaning any farther. Remember you won't always crash your bike in flat terrain so i would go for full crash bars. Is on my list to buy next. I will go for tusk crash bars since they affordable.
Totally agree. Or what kind of a surface or obstacles will be on the ground. Today I had quite strong drop on to the sandy road, lower crash bar done the job perfectly. Thank you for comment 👍🏻
Is that also the SW motek bash guard? Thinking about the lower guard like yourself but trying to determine bash guard compatibility as I want one with linkage protection.
No, it's Yamaha one which sells additionally for non rally versions. You may weld some plate to it to have linkage protection. Otherwise you have to check compatibility carefully.
Good notice, they do take pressure too. But lower crash bar was completely flat on the ground, so nothing changes there to be honest except front wheel dips closet to the ground once you spin the handle bar. Thank you.
@@RaimundasBaronas what I expect to happen in the event of a slide is that the bike will be sliding completely on the side, the unsupported OEM bars likely are bending inward on the slide and potentially indenting the tank or causing scratches on the tank. there is an American or Australian YT channel who noticed after drops that the OEM crash bars will bend inwards on impact. Essentially at that point you likely have to replace at least the bars is not more. That's my unexperienced guess.
Hey mate, these are not OEM crash bars, but I bet they could bend in a serious crash. For TET riding I really love mine, they do protect very well on easy drops, hope I never get to test them on high speed crash.
@@RaimundasBaronas i hope so too and all that matters is that you are happy with them. I just shared what I saw in another review and in general my understanding of physics and what happens to unsupported metal after impact. Nice bike and you sure enjoy the ride without ever having a high impact on any of your bike parts! - Cheers
@@Jotx did crash mine multiple times, low speeds of course. No bents whatsoever. Not a tarmac crashes though, mainly on tet gravel, sand, mud routes. So far so good 😬
Of course. Every crash is indivudual. I had many of them last year, always offroad, never on high speed, always less than let's 40km/h and worked really well. One side has a slight bend towards engine though. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Not in a serious crash, but in quite a few low speed ones and many drops while offroad. All what takes the impact is crash bars and handles. I once managed to bend handles so it was quite fast offroad drop, but body had not suffered.
I am sure you will not be dissapointed. Check my instagram account, I have one video (reel) there how I was abusing my bike on TET route, all the scraches just on crash bar. Good luck mate.
The conclusion is faulty... Usually when the bikes go down, the bars are "closed" and only the lowers would probably not be enough to protect the plastics
Shame I did not cross handlebars in video. Clearance from the ground to plastics does not change, but of course, as more metal frame - as safer for various situations. Only question remains is it really worth it. Thank you for comment.
@@RaimundasBaronas The clearance changes on dinamic situations (when the bike is moving). Had the yamaha oem ones on order, and after going to the shop and seing a t7 with them fitted (fell to the left side, the bike slid for less than 1meter, chew through the top of the plastics (above yamaha badge), I quickly changed my mind... Got mine being prepared as we speak :)

The upper bars allow for additionnal stiffness, it prevents the lower from bending when the bike is dropped.

"GoPro stop filming" cracked me up! : )
Haha thanks 😁
Top comparison and test on the ground. So crashbars have to be tested. Great idea.
Thanks mate. Safe travels 👍🏻
if your offroading, rocks hills logs all sorts of things make that top bar usefull
I am a bit concerned about this crash bars(Sw motech )about the mountings points especially at the bolt on the engine.
Thank you very much!
Your video is very helpful!
Thank you! Glad it helps!
I want the crash bars that will keep the bike higher off the ground to make it easier to lift.
It also depends on how they drop I think, then the results might be different.

Belas máquinas Tenere 👏👏👏🛣🌏
I look forward to being able to test me🙏🏍
OK 😂
Great video 👌 thanks 👍🏻
Thanks for the video! I am getting only lower bars :)
Thanks mate. Best of luck
can you tell us the weight of the oem crash bar pls?

Hello great videos more of it. Which protection is better above or below?
My englisch not good :)
So far both doing their job well 👍🏻😉
Got just the lower crash bars. What torque did you use on oem bolts? Thanks!
I think it should be indicated on instructions. I tightened as much as I thought it's enough, simply from hand.
@@RaimundasBaronas the instructions say: use OEM torque 😄
Looks like you’ve got all the weight on the end of the handlebars ... should of turned the handlebars so that the weight was all on the crash bars.

Now it's time to watch OUTBACK MOTORTEK Real crashbars test.
I agree, it's a great test. But to be honest all most popular bars does the same. It is just a matter of individual estetics

I concur. the blue one looks way faster!

I point of view but not reality for me, which usually involves broken and uneven ground and travelling at > 0km/h.

Bars that are anchored to the engine like the SW Motech ones should be banned.
Loose weight and protect your radiator
upper ones are just aux lamp hangers, ugly if you ask me. no need for these.
