The mystery and unanswered questions left by just one season of John from Cincinnati is also what makes it great. It leaves us wondering forever .. like John.
I love Milch. John From Cincinnati and Deadwood, I hold to be more than television. They are both Stage plays, heart-felt, beautiful and deeply emotional. Poetry in motion.
Just look at the expression on Dayton Callie's face as he listens to this wonderful, genius exposition from Mr. Milch. Classic. And amusing, and funny, and the speech is brilliant, I love Deadwood but I've never seen this show that was apparently cancelled early.... David Milch is a genius. True genius.
Imagine a tv company so fucking arrogant and dumb that they cancel TWO David Milch shows. The reason Jesus began speaking in parables was to obscure his message to all but those who took what he had to say to heart. One should not be embarrassed to have to look up what he meant. Contrariwise it shows that you are genuinely interested in what he had to say to you. That is how it felt watching John from Cincinnati. And then coming here to listen to Milch talk about it.
Man this just hurt my Brian more than helped, I understand a little more now but it’s still so confusing trying to do ip her what this dude (John) was saying
This was such a wonderful show. One of the best in my opinion. It's unfortunate that HBO pulled the plug after only 10 episodes. I understand allot of people didnt like it but in my opinion it was just really misunderstood. I wish Milch would have explained who and where John came from.....just to bring some sense of closure.
I love David Milch but JFC just annoyed me; it was too esoteric, self-indulgent & incomprehensible. But if the show had been just following Milch around while he explained things like this I would have loved it.
Right!? I had to watch it 5 times to appreciate the madness. The dots eventually connect, but not in a meaningful way unless you like to relive your trauma 😂 But it’s one of my fav shows

Far more than TV...but art with a message...a painting of sorts. Only, the medium is words rather than oils. Poetry if you will.
Watch the show luck on hbo he made that one also
“Not a matter of conscious memory, but a change of spirit”
That’s the show right there.
When I heard him say that, my eyes got all watery. "That's what it's all about," I thought.
This explains why I don't remember that much about John From Cincinnatti, but I think about it all the time.
I am so glad I found this and so upset there was only one season.
This show had a great cast and concept can’t believe they canceled it!!
This is so awesome, in 2021 and this show is still a must see!

Get a hold of it and watch it, it's great!!!
It’s made by HBO too. It’s still streamable on their app. It’s brilliant.
John from Cincinnati and Carnivale being cancelled both broke my heart...
A genius and a great show. I was so disappointed it didnt return
Holy shit. Milch is a genius.
This was a invisible show. An intriguing show
What a great thing to find
I stayed at that location as a security guard during the filming of jfc.
Wish it would have gotten a second season
Paul Ben-Victor looks like he's having a time of his life.
I just told someone, "Paul Ben-Victor's mere existence makes me smile."
John from Cincinnati is my fave. Deadwood is second. Amazing. Ty for posting this!
Oh yeah that makes perfect sense now. But seriously what a genius.
I loved this show!!
I have ever understood this scene in John from Cincinnati, when I saw it first time. It was clear. Poetry on TV.

Even the explanation makes no sense
