    70% of the respondents were employed. The next demographic is freelancers at 16%. I'm not surprised that most of the top languages are enterprise languages or start ups.

      @@P8860 yes its prob the way in to dev.. the best way. But, pay can be awful and highly unrealistic. I worked at a dev firm for around a year.. quite well established with design and dev.. copy and social media provision. They actually wanted to hire a dev for 20k-30k. They had a heck of a time finding anyone.. but rather disappointing to see some of these salaries.. by some of these firms. However, does seem the actual going rate seems to be 35k-45k for a WP dev.. Thats in GBP not USD, so slightly more, but still..

      Employers around here expect you to know a handful of languages/libraries/frameworks, have 2-3 years of experience (for a “junior” position) and pay you $20/hour. And they probably get a ton of candidates, so they don’t care and it’s not going to change. Or they want you to know as much as a full stack dev for a “front end” entry level job. It’s so unrealistic, terrible field.

    Can't focus on the video/content because of the low volume, and it fluctuates as you move away form the mic. Amplifying the audio by 10-15 dB solves the issue.

      1. Reduce brightness
      2. Reduce exposure to blue light:
      -Enable Night Time mode on if ur using a Mac
      -buy some blue light glasses to wear while in front of the screen computer
      -buy a blue light shield to put on your computer/laptop screen
      Whenever you reduce blue light intake for your eyes, the screen will look warmer and take on a slightly more orange hue

    I was learning programming and liked it but at some point I got bored and I lost my interest in it. Maybe because I was doing some hobby staff only all the time and never worked in it.

    • @joecater894
      @joecater894 Год назад +2

      yes, you need to have a target. Its gets way tougher without one. I think if I was just doing it for a hobby I would just focus on one language and a framework rather than having to learn all these different dev skills.

      @@joecater894 In my case I touched many things and languages. Never Wordpress and those other CMS systems though. Maybe those projects I did were basically just useless and at work you do something useful? Many years ago I tried to get a job but noone wanted me, there were just few opportunities but I couldn't do the problems they gave me to resolve because my knowledge was too weak then. Later I completely stopped looking for a job and just did things as hobby for fun and now since some time I do not turn my computer on at all.

      @@joecater894 and maybe at work you more specialize at something instead of doing everything and not being especially good at anything because there is so many things, I don't know, I think now it is just a break, I will get back to it, it is like a drug :)

    One thing you skipped is the most well paid languages. Zig, Erlang, and F# were the Top 3 but there are like 14 professional devs in those languages in the entire world. Therefore number 4 is the most well paid, widely used language in the world. It is Ruby!

    If you look at the stats the established (older) crowd "Professional Developers" and the upcoming people (younger) "Learning to code", spells a lot, it shows the shifts in cultures. The number of LGBTQ identifying is increasing in society, as well as the number of Asians learning to code.

    Saw this survey, rather questionable in many ways- among others was biased towards soc media users ( as a function of time available for example). I would take the results of this survey with a bag of salt.

    I retired at 38, rarely working for anyone before then. I was an English major and didn't like working normal jobs, so I saved much of what I earned from my first normal job to buy into opportunities. I bought a shack and fixed it up to rent to deer hunters from Japan. I saved rental earnings, then sold the shack and invested in natural gas and oil at the right times (last year I received a 17 fold return on investments I made 5 years earlier). Anyway, learning to code is interesting because I want to use it so that I can work less and make more. But first, I may invest in rental properties while I can get a tax break on some of my capital gains. The rental properties will likely appreciate while pulling down income. I'm too stupid to do more than one project at a time and will work on coding only after my capital is secure and working for me. I'm an expert in a certain field in the arts, but it has been my side projects in fields about which I'm largely ignorant, as mentioned above, that have made me money. (A lot of luck, I admit.)
