Nancy Navas He's in trouble with the law because he is a tough prosecutor who does a lot of high stakes prosecutions. As a defense attorney, you don't hold many cards. The prosecutor can put a lot of pressure on you and your client. Particularly in a case like this, where they elected to make no plea offer, and instead determined that they would seek nothing less than the death penalty. So yes, some bitter people probably did file complaints against him. As long as you are ethical, there's nothing wrong with playing hardball. But it does have a tendency to piss people off, particularly if they feel that you are being unreasonable. In this case, I back Martinez 100%. I doubt they'd accept a life offer, and this case was too strong to give her less than life; so what her attorneys were really looking for here was a handout so that she could get out of prison some day - a murderer who premeditated the murder of the man she loved, had sex with him, stabbed him 30 times, shot him in the head, and slit his throat so deeply that she nearly cut off his head. This woman should never be free. She is far too dangerous.

Because I thought Martinez was amazing in this trial, maybe he is repetitive but he is getting the answers clear on record when the witness tries to leave room for a maybe type of answer or saying they are pretty sure instead of a straight yes or no, things like that, and I think that is a sign of a good prosecutor, to recognize when the answer you got wasn't completely clear and to get the witness to clarify. Also part of convincing the jury is getting them emotionally on your side so his "emotional investment" is a strategy to get the jury on his side of the story so they don't fall victim to the defendants lies. Idk, I think he did very well here but if you have an example of a better prosecutor and another trial I should watch I'd be interested in your suggestion because I need something new to watch anyway.
Juan Martinez miraculously transports you into the bathroom as you watch the victim stumble down the hallway, gasping for breath, blood being smeared on the wall as she chases him down. All in slow motion. At each instance you would swear you saw it with your own eyes. Brilliant.

I think that Jodi taped that phone call to use to blackmail Travis. And I think that she told him that she would go to the bishop or his friends with it. That is what precipitated the text messages where Travis says that Jodi is the worst thing that has ever happened to him. And Travis' anger over Jodi's threat pushed Jodi to go to Plan B. Travis had to die because in Jodi's twisted mind, she would never be able to detach herself from him unless Travis was dead. Also her rage over Travis' refusal to go along with her desires for marriage and the Cancun trip was too much for her to contain. She is so sick and Travis was lost the minute he became involved with her and her pathology...

Because I thought Martinez was amazing in this trial, maybe he is repetitive but he is getting the answers clear on record when the witness tries to leave room for a maybe type of answer or saying they are pretty sure instead of a straight yes or no, things like that, and I think that is a sign of a good prosecutor, to recognize when the answer you got wasn't completely clear and to get the witness to clarify. Also part of convincing the jury is getting them emotionally on your side so his "emotional investment" is a strategy to get the jury on his side of the story so they don't fall victim to the defendants lies. Idk, I think he did very well here but if you have an example of a better prosecutor and another trial I should watch I'd be interested in your suggestion because I need something new to watch anyway.

I think that Jodi taped that phone call to use to blackmail Travis. And I think that she told him that she would go to the bishop or his friends with it. That is what precipitated the text messages where Travis says that Jodi is the worst thing that has ever happened to him. And Travis' anger over Jodi's threat pushed Jodi to go to Plan B. Travis had to die because in Jodi's twisted mind, she would never be able to detach herself from him unless Travis was dead. Also her rage over Travis' refusal to go along with her desires for marriage and the Cancun trip was too much for her to contain. She is so sick and Travis was lost the minute he became involved with her and her pathology...

Agreed, TA was not an angel, but no one's life can stand up to the kind of scrutiny it gets in a lurid trial such as this one. The siblings are the ones I feel for, too. They've experienced a whole range of negative emotions, including embarrassment over their brother's sex life being put on display.That's humiliating, but it's all awful -- the grief, the anger, the sadness.
Amy Pickford . I know , ive watched this so many times, Juan sarcastically ties everything into a nice bundle for the Jury. It's not her fault she has vision lol.... she could have left,she could have never come out here in the first place.
