When I heard Mimir said "Look at me!" You can hear the pain in his voice. It makes what they went through more real, allowing you to sympathize with their pain.
Mimir goes out of his way to make those around him more comfortable with his condition. He’s the first to crack jokes about it. He clearly wouldn’t trade his current situation for his old life in the tree being constantly tortured. His snap choice to trust the tattooed man and his Boy despite knowing almost nothing about them (except that they weren’t Odin’s lackies) worked out pretty well for him. But he’s still just a head. He can’t hold a pen or dance with his love or eat a meal or climb a tree. That was what Odin took from him. That’s what he had to give up in order to live free.
The fact that he went along with everyone else shows how good he is at keeping in character, He could have easily supported Atreus's idea saying things like 'if we know what Odin's endgoal is. Perhaps we can get one step ahead of him" but he is acutely aware that not even Try would suggest letting a young boy go meet the man that has tortured him for years
Well not exactly talking trash. "He'll cloud your mind." is like saying, "Shit man I'm too smart I'll deceive any of you." So he was kinda complimenting himself there.
0:50 "It is not fine!" Finally he admits how he really felt about Faye lying to them about being a giant and keeping secrets about Jotunheim from them. You can even hear how sad he is when he says it. He wanted things to be peaceful now that he had finally settled down instead of continuously running from his past and now not only has his past caught up with him in the form of those blades being chained back to him he's now getting involved in another war that he doesn't want any part of nor does he want his son involved. For the first time he's actually angry towards her instead of keeping his emotions numb.
Everyone is trying to caution Atreus about Odin, but none are trying to understand that he is feeling like he has to do something. It goes without saying that he lacks the strength and wisdom that everyone around him has, and that in itself makes him feel a lot more insecure. He wants to be like them, their equal, but it's tough cause he's so young and inexperienced. None can talk to him as an equal, but just keep telling him what to do. It's why I think it did Atreus good to experience friendships with Thrud and Angrboda, people who are similar to him in age, experience, and feelings. It helped Atreus be able to better reflect on himself in the long run. This is why children need to interact with others their own age.
This is true, but the way he went about it was completely wrong, if he explained in more detail what his objective is and at least explained in detail that he promised someone special he wouldnt say where he went or what he knew like he does later on, im willing to bet that they would have allowed him to leave and try to go to odin like they did the second time around and gave him stuff that would help him escape the aesir. Atreus had no problem going to Asgard and scouting, his problem was a lack of properly diffusing situations and explaining in further detail.
When Atreus returned he told Kratos that he no longer felt alone when he finally met people in his age group. I suppose him hanging out with Angrboda, Skjöldr and Thrud made him happy as they saw him as an equal instead of like a child.
People seem to forget Artreus fear that he will lose his father because of the prophecy. KRATOS and Mimir doesn't know that he saw the painting of Kratos death.
