    • @1stSportsGuru
      @1stSportsGuru 2 месяца назад +2

      @@datname1939indeed it is. Context was not highlighted and all the facts weren't mentioned. Usain struggled with injuries the entire early part of 2012, hence Yohan being out in front, both on form and times. Usain went to Germany after the trials to see humis doctor, and was good to go for the Olympics. In the present case, Kishane ran 4 races (all of which were fairly easy 9.82 season opener, 9.84 semifinal, 9.77 final and world lead and then 9.91). Noah was beaten by Seville 9.82 to 9.85. Noah also ran his PB of 9.81 going all out and executing his race as perfectly as he can.
      All the above mentioned reasons are why context and facts make the two situations completely different 🤔

    @nathanwjdaly 2 месяца назад +9

    1 thing you should know about betting odds is it's not a 100% reflection of who is most likely to win but also how much money has been bet on a certain athlete. For example, after Kishane ran 9.77 if a bunch of people made bets that he would win the gold medal, the bookmaker (Draft Kings, Fan Duel, Bet365, etc.) would adjust the odds to encourage bets to be placed on other runners. Noah Lyles is American and easily the most famous runner in the 100M field, it's likely that a LOT of money has been bet on Noah which would mean sportsbooks lower the odds (and payouts) for future bets on Noah. The effect this has is it makes Noah have the lowest odds and look like the favorite, even though that might not necessarily mean most likely to win.
    Love the content but I hope that made sense and better helps you understand betting lines.

    Most predictions tend to be biased and based on a persons country. As Jamaican I too could reflect a bias. However my predictions that Jamaica will finish 1,2 in the men 100m is based on the consistency of these men and not on just one performance. Both Oblique and Kishane are consistently running faster than everyone else which i believe gives them the best chance of coming out on top.

    Bolts time would have been much faster if he actually ran full speed right through the tape. Maybe a 9.48 instead of 9.58 which still no one has come close to.
    As far the men's final...all the pre race analysis is just speculation. Anything can happen. One of the favorites could possibly not even make it to the finals...a stumble out of the blocks, pulled muscle, etc.
    I think it's possible if even all the favorites make it to the finals there's 4 or 5 that could win if one of them runs the race of his life. Jacobs won in 2021...He wasn't the favorite. No one was talking about him winning...but he did.

    In the 2012 Jamaican trials, Bolt clearly wasn’t going full effort. nothing against Blake but Bolt looked like he was jogging. And for this years 100m i’m predicting one of the top guys to not make the final. whether it’s Kishane, Lyles, Tobogo, Seville, Bednarek. With how much depth there is now. the heats and semis aren’t as easy of a cake walk like they used to be so i think someone’s gonna be too confident or comfortable and lose a spot

  • @billyWhips

    In 2012, we already knew for a fact that Bolt was capable of going as fast as 9.58. Irrespective of the fact that Blake got the better of him at the Jamaican trials, we already knew he was capable of going faster than Blake had ever gone up to that point. We can not say for a fact that Noah can go faster than Thompson has ever gone because he simply hasn't done so. That's the big difference between Bolt/Blake 2012 and Lyles/Thompson 2024.

    there's SO MANY of them clustered at the top, that any one of them can get an
    extra breath of wind that day, and pull it off.
    I HOPE Thompson to place first, he's such a beautiful PHYSIOLOGICAL MASTERPIECE, he deserves
    to win on that alone; but "IF" it's not him, I think Seville, Tebogo, or Lyles (2nd and 3rd).
