I’m clearing out the mechanic / fabricator / machinist/gunsmith part of my life. I’m early 70s and having recurring health issues. Time to think about my heirs for the second time in my life. I’m definitely enjoying my new Nissan Z !
2:00 “That hit home.“ In 1995 a car magazine had a 55 Chevy on the cover with the caption “Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the 55 Chevy!” That beautifully restored car looked brand new. It was at that point I realized these objects of our devotion and affection will outlive all of us.
Really appreciate the time and effort you put into these videos. Im not able to travel and walk those distances any more. Thanks to you i can still enjoy seeing this stuff even tho it may not have much monetary value.
These old junkyards, man, everything sat outside for so long.,,,,, Your opening comments sound realistic. I am of the age,, seen many friends "collections" ending up with their heirs to deal with. Nothing good has come of those yet. Some of the collections were good, but, nobody thinks yer stuff is as good / cool as you do.,,,Love D
Sell the collection when you still can. I know what kind of challenges that the death of a parent can bring. Put your affairs in order before it's too late.
Oh thanks for bringing us along on your adventures, Enjoy every single one, the treasures you find or could find, that green chrysler slant 6 with AC has great parts on it chrome wise
In 1965, the Caprice was a option package. By the 1966 model year it became a model. They were very highly optioned mom and pop cars. My dad was a chevy guy. Just sharing.
At least all the stuff in your videos are auctioned off and the rest of the junk get scrapped. I hope the steel stays here since most of the old stuff was the good stuff. Safe travels...
If these were all still in a working yard, I see some good parts I'd like to pull and buy. But not much that I'd want to drag home whole. The plum crazy 340 Demon was super cool to see, even if it's incredibly rough. I also would have loved a peek inside the aluminum camper that was on that squarebody, just to see what the inside looked like.
I had a collection of triumph, BSA motorcycles 35 years of collecting equaling to about 47 motorcycles, a 20 foot connex box with 60 or so motors and thousands and thousands of parts. Kept a 1959 tiger cub all original with 649 miles on it and the first Triumph I purchased ,1971 650 tiger I got that in 1982. Do miss the stuff at all!
Remember tomorrow is promised to nobody. Eat the donut, go to the swap meet, travel to that vacation spot. What does it really matter, enjoy this ride called life, you only have 1 ride ticket.
Good advice if the only goal in life is to live for you're own pleasure. It's not uncommon for people to live a life to the purpose of larger goals. Hedonism gets boring.
I lived in Missouri for 30+ years. There are virtually no decent old cars. Half the people in the state live on gravel roads which slowly degrades the cars underneath as it builds up dirt and mud and holds moisture. , Nearly the entire state uses salt on the roads in the winter. The summers are hot and humid and destroy interiors. The Winters are bad and the extreme temps crack the dashes along with the summer heat.
What really bothers me is I know my kids are going to say” Dad it’s time to quit driving and you need to put the Wrench down and step away from the Vehicle “ and your not going to need this Roll-a-Way Tool Box we’re throwing it into the Dumpster people don’t like getting their hands dirty so these Tools are obsolete but maybe it’s best cause a World without Junk Cars and Tools ain’t no World for me ……..
I’ve always said that, the rest of my family have no interest in my stuff. I can tell you what I have and why I saved it. When I’m gone somebody can get a number from the auctioneer and move it to a new home.🤷🏼♂️♥️👍🏼
That 340 Demon may have belonged to my dad, once upon a time. He had one the same color when I was a little kid in the 1970s. We lived in Poplar Bluff, Missouri back then. There couldn't have been many of those cars. What are the odds there were 2 of them, the same color in the same state?
Rare car, and a neat one... can you imagine if it had been put away in a shed instead of left to die in a field... but they were just old cars back then, regardless of whether they were rare high performance vehicles or just run of the mill.
Pretty sure the '73 Honda at 49:00 is a 250 Elsinore. Many years ago I had one that looked like this one. Compared to newer dirt bikes that old Honda was like riding a bull.
My little brother had one of those back in the mid 70's. We both learned to ride a Yamdog 65 . Then mom and dad bought him the Honda. He rode the dog sh*t out of that bike. The little 65 rode the dog curd out of me😂.
Missed out on a 66 caprice wagon like that color and all was a 396 with a 3 speed on the column. No rust either. But no running gear. Alas long gone. Did get 66 biscayne wagon 283 3 speed factory ac luggage rack tinted glass and no other options original paint.
Yes Sie , Ive been lpoking fir a "PLYMOUTH PICKUP TRUCK" FOR YEARS OR SINCE I WAS IN JR.HIGH ? AND IM 64 NOW ! CANT FIND ANY INFO. ON THAT MAKE . HAVE YOU EVER COME ACROSS ANY? THANKYOU.

those trunk racks on celebrities were sold at dealer auctions with a bunch of other add ons you could put on your auction cars when you bought lease and rental cars to doll them up to sell. Back in the late seventies and eighties some of the dealer auctions in mo. had wholesalers who would sell dozens of lease and rental cars dolled up to sell easier. Even their were cars with miles rolled off by crooked dealers.
Have few 69 Chevy B Bodies. Would love to find one with discs, 15” wheels and cruise control. You have one? That Caprice from last show would of been perfect

My Dad passed away at 82. If you don't sell off the collection when you're alive, it becomes a huge problem for the family left behind. A massive waste of time and money for the heirs.
i'd be all over that rampage. funny enough. remember that cutlass that went for a lot of money from the last video. i found so many of them on copart in way better condition than that one for like 1k, plus 2k shipping to where im at on the east coast so prob hella cheaper if your in the mid west.
I looked on Facebook Marketplace last week out of curiosity and there were TONS of Cutlass coupes within 200 miles of Wichita Kansas for $3k to $5k. Probably almost two dozen of them, many drivable or close to it
Sad you did not find anything nice enough to buy. Oh well, at least you will not be wondering what could have been bought if you did not go check it out!
Seeing that on a hood has a lot to do with condensation and moisture underneath. Very bad ones will rust the outer skin in an "X" over the top of the inner braces
This one was on a Google search, literally the night before. I don't even remember what I typed in. It popped up in the results and I impulsively hitched the trailer and went out early

Well said Ray. We are given one life and it's up to us not to squander it
I'm almost 60, and so far 100% of my tomorrows have come. I get what you are trying to say, but it's not really the whole story.
Yeah these videos help me mentally justify and visualize that I need to keep selling cars and other stuff I don't need so much crap.

The '63 GMC truck with Sassatelli distributing on its door is from my hometown in Illinois . How it ended up in Missouri is interesting.
That brush mower at the end could be used for a horror movie!

It’s a tough life being a car collector in the rust belt.
That gas tank and seat on the Honda might have value as it didn't sit outside and fade away, like all other old Japanese bikes.
Great Video as always but you should have snagged the Karmann Ghia in the back row.
wow huge pieces of farmland never mind the history eh.
