Three reasons why I would not buy a Ram 2500: 1. Only GVWR available is 10,000 lbs. Which is why it has such a pathetically payload capacity when equipped with the CTD. GM 2500 can be had with 10,000 lb GVWR up to 11,750 lbs That translates directly to increased payload capacity. 2. No Auto 4WD. GM HD trucks can be had with Auto 4WD. I've been using it for over 20 years in my GM half tons and can't imagine going through winter without it. 3. The onboard trailer TPMS only displays trailer tire pressure on Ram. GM trucks display trailer tire pressure and temperature. The GM HD trucks are simply a better choice, especially if you tow.
I didn't realize that they had that auto 4WD, they must have that front axle engaged always and some sort of clutch for activation... Interesting. Any time that I've ever gone into 4H or 4L I've specifically wanted that function, but I can see the utility as well! That's interesting, do they give you wheel caps for the trailer tires? Cool idea! If I had a history of reliability with them, I definitely would have considered them more, but just too unreliable for me in the past and I just don't like the General Motors company itself. Cool benefits though!
@@CozyLivingMachine When Auto 4WD is selected the front axle only engages when there is slippage detected in the rear wheels. It's a very seamless transition from 2WD to 4WD. As for trailer TPMS it isn't caps, it's an actual TPMS sensor similar to the ones in the truck's tires. They replace the valve stems of the trailer tires. And if you want to continuously monitor trailer tire pressure and temperature you can use the split screen on the infotainment screen. The left two thirds can be used for navigation or something else and the smaller screen on the right can display trailer tire pressure and temperature. I find this preferable to tire pressure only displayed on the DIC, as is the case with Ram. As for reliability, I've never had a single issue in five years with two different trucks. As someone who tows I just find the GM trucks to have the best technology for towing.
Nice truck!!!! Love it! We got the 3500 RAM 2024 with the 68rfe. We are going to pull a 5ver so it was necessary with the payload. We love our truck!!!!!! We also went for less technology. So nice. Welcome back to the RAM family!
Thanks!! We really considered the 3500 and if we were going the fifth wheel route, that's absolutely what we would have purchased! They're such great trucks, which is why this is our third with this same basic config. 🤘😎
I’ve been so busy I haven’t been able to keep up. I have got to listen and watch this to see what happened to Lenny. Oh my gosh this is like a super push on Netflix where I just got a catch up with all the videos this weekend my gosh well I guess I haven’t even finished this video but huge congratulations on the RAM. I also had to trade in my Duramax 2022 for the 24 long story.
@@CozyLivingMachine no, had 149,000 miles over 30 months so my DPF filter needed cleaning of thee leftover Ash which is common for all Diesel's today plus I found a 24 that has sitting @ dealer for 9 months so they discounted it $8k vs paying over MSRP like back in 2022. I'm still watching to catch on your videos.
Totally a subjective opinion on looks and feel, you just can't argue those things! "Great design" in one opinion to another is so stinkin' subjective! Performance, payload, transmission, build quality, sync4 or Android, and on and on... and we all just make a choice. Even with all the pros and cons of all the vehicles, I don't think you can make an actual bad decision, it's just a decision. I know that you are really jaded by your bad Ford experience with your Class A experiences, and boy howdy did it open my eyes as well! Long story short, you have a great new truck and if you can afford to buy new, it's the best way to go. Enjoy it! So, I am glad you said it, "Emma has a seat belt," which has made me sooo stinkin' nervous to watch on those cross-country drive videos. I don't think I need to explain why I was so nervous, but now that Lenny won't be used like that again, I am super relieved. Now my questions are mounting, I have many, but mostly what trailer are you guys going to buy?? Clearly, that is the next step, and the mystery is what brand and model and where will you park Lenny? I can't be sure if the Nov, Dec, thing is a property purchase or when you will buy your new trailer. I remember Emma saying something about seeing you guys in another Airstream, but I can only guess. Until then, are you just going to play follow the leader while you still live in Lenny and move from spot to spot? I got to say, you guys look so much more comfortable in that new truck! My hope for you guys is that you find a property of your own to park Lenny and enjoy a new trailer that will provide you with more modern creature comforts that make living a little easier. You two are very resilient and always up to try new things so, as always, I look forward to what is next.
It sure is subjective! And hold for a few poor engineering choices in the gears of certain motors and electronic and chip issues that RUclips has been enjoying recommending to me, it sounds like most trucks today are just great machines! Emma won't let me share which unit we're going with until we have it, but I will say that they're very well built and I'd bet that most folks have either never heard of them or wouldn't guess that we'd get this unit! This truck can tow much more than this trailer, but it's better than overloading the drivetrain, or having too little truck, in my opinion! We plan to keep the bus in storage for a while after getting the trailer, and we're trying to play "follow the leader" as infrequently as possible until then. We want to be sure that Lenny doesn't go to waste though, there was a lot of money, effort and love that has gone into this bus! It sure is much more comfortable driving hundreds of miles in a day, not to mention a much nicer sound system! A little easier to see around as well, which doesn't hurt.
Man i would love to have another truck but the prices are outrageously priced imo; in fact, cars are over priced imo; so where are you going to keep the truck while you living/driving Lenny around? Are you planning on towing it?
I’ve never owned a Ford, GMC, or Ram-I’ve always been a Toyota guy because of their bulletproof reliability, except for the newer Tundras with engine issues. That said, I’m looking to upgrade to a 3/4 ton truck in the near future since I plan to buy a camper for my family. While many RUclipsrs focus on how fancy these trucks are in their reviews, I’m more interested in knowing how reliable the Ford F-250, Chevy, and Ram are for someone who plans to keep the truck for 15+ years. I’m not talking reliability in sense of fancy screen, massage seats and butt warmers etc. more like how good is the engine, tranny, water pump, power steering etc.. My current Toyota truck is 13 years old and still drives like a dream. I’m not concerned about fancy features or bells and whistles-I just want to know which truck will give me the best long-term value. GMC transmissions aren’t great, as they’re now branded as “Allison-inspired.” On the other hand, Ram uses ZF transmissions, which I’ve heard are extremely reliable. I’d prefer a gas engine over diesel, but the Hemi tick worries me-it could derail my long-term investment plans. And ford builds inferior trucks faster than Macdonald sells there burgers.. so no thank you.. It’s frustrating how inferior the quality of trucks has become these days.. I’m currently leaning towards Ram out of the big 3. Might even have to opt for the diesel and hopefully pray I don’t have any issues with regens when driving short distance to work.. decisions…decisions 😂😂😂
I get what you mean! I will say, the regen definitely isn't an issue, and thankfully there's a gauge now that will tell you when it's ready to regen and you can make adjustments according to that! I definitely didn't know about the "Allison-inspired" part, that's... unfortunate.
Nice! had your sound all cranked up because hard to hear over the thunder. Lightning strikes all around too. You getting that tonight too (Saturday)? I am sick of the Fords myself. Went through so MANY times wasted having to go have something fixed or recalls UGH. I still want a black GMC Denali long bed (probably 3500 crew cab) with the Duramax 10 Speed Allison with 4WD. Going to put a nice cap on it (with solar on top yeah!) and build it out a bit for off-road camping use as well as tool, etc. storage (plans plans!). I will never ever not have a 4WD again. Is your Ram 4WD? I am not looking forward to using DEF myself (ugh). I definitely need running boards on a truck too. Yeah, I want the electronic crud off or gone. Our family had a VW Thing, but we lived in California then (THEY have RUINED California, but I digress) and it was great in the warm weather there. Not so much in cold. But exciting trying not to fall out and die when the doors were off and we were bouncing and zooming around in the hills....lol Have you named your Ram yet, or do you do that for the tow vehicles? Glad you found your truck!!
I was surprised at that little storm last night, it lasted a while! Poor Sam wasn't having it though. Those Denalis are pretty damn snazzy trucks. And comfortable!! I do like that 10 speed option, at least paired with the notorious reliability of Allison. Oh yeah, solar to come on this truck too! This is 4x4 indeed, I wouldn't buy one without it! Emma loves the Things, so it's funny that you had one a while back! Risking falling out. 😂 We have yet to name him, but yes we do name every vehicle!! Emma is thinking Graham, but I'm not so sure. lol
Its hard to be completely unbiased as you have experiences and histories with the three main brands, you did at least give the current brand & model offerings a look see and analysis and exclusion including the RAM 3500 that was your directed focus. Looks like you're happy with your choice and it should do well by you. And you're experienced with trailer towing and not over taxing the capabilities, especially with what you have in mind that might come to fruition in November. Congratulations and safe travels.
We're very lucky to have the keyless fob for things like that, but it blows my mind any idiot even thought that was a good idea to try to get people to subscribe to. Greedy bastards.

No doubt about it, Ram makes a good lookin' truck. And they have the best interior. Hmmm.... 🤔 I wonder what your towable will be. Wasn't Emma applying for a position in a different State? Did she get an outcome on that yet? This has sure thrown a twist into the storyline. Where will you find a lot to park Lenny. I'm sure you spotted something in your recent travels. The saga continues.
I agree, it's very nice!! And you'll definitely be surprised at what we tow, I think! She wasn't applying in another state, but we posted a video about that just a few days ago, you'll see it in about a week from now, I believe!
