ABOUT TODAYS VIDEO: Sunflower Seeds For Dogs
So if you've been asking yourself, “can I give my dog sunflower seeds,” without any health issues, the answer is yes. And with this in mind here's 5 benefits of sunflower seeds for dogs.
Number one is the trace minerals in sunflower seeds support coordinated body functions such as healthy bone growth, brain function, hormone balance, stronger immunity and help the development of red blood cells, collagen and connective tissue.
Number two is the high vitamin E content in sunflower seeds has powerful antioxidant abilities. Vitamins E is essential for metabolizing fats, the respiration of the body's cells, and the formation of the membranes surrounding cells.
Vitamin E can also protect your dog's skin against harmful oxygen created free radicals. And I'll leave a link to the best natural organic vitamin E oil in the description below and at the link above. A highly recommended oil for your dogs health.
Number 3 reveals that recent studies have concluded that sunflower seeds have the ability to create a calming solution for dogs experiencing anxiety. The high levels of magnesium in sunflower seeds have shown to ease fatigue and alleviate depression.
Sunflower seeds are loaded with B-complex vitamins, especially niacin and pyridoxine, which are cited as increasing brain activity and lowering anxiety.
Sunflower seeds also have elevated levels of tryptophan, an essential amino acid that raises the levels of serotonin in a dog's brain. This also helps a dog’s recovery through stress and reduces aggressive behavior.
Number 4 is the beneficial fatty acids in sunflower seeds reduces bad cholesterol to lower blood pressure and reduce heart disease or stroke. They'll also assist in easing inflammation.
And number 5 is that sunflower seeds improve your dogs coat and skin. Studies have shown that high essential fatty acid supplementation improves skin and coat condition in dogs. The unsaturated fats feed your dogs coat and skin to help it stay shiny and the skin to keep it's healthy elasticity.
Sunflower seeds are good to feed your dog regularly with no side effects. Just make sure to prepare the sunflower seeds correctly by roasting, peeling and grinding them.
If you give them whole there's the chance your dog will get them stuck in their teeth and throat and with much less chance of them being digested properly.
Don't add any salt or flavorings to the prepared sunflower seeds and store in an air tight container in the refrigerator for freshness. I prefer to buy bags of shelled and unsalted sunflower seeds that I can grind and add to my dogs meals.
Feed your dog a 1/2 teaspoon per 20 lbs of body weight 2 or 3 days per week as a supplemental addition to your dogs diet and as always when introducing a new food to your dog, start small and work up the stated dose.

Excellent video! I use an organic sunflower butter a couple times a week when I create dog treats. No other ingredients in the jar such as sugars, or palm oil. Thanks Dan!

Hah! That's interesting. Our now 10 months old Australian Cattle Dog puppy sticks her head into the 25kg bag of sunflower seeds and gets a mouthful and chews them up. I have never seen any of our other dogs doing that so I was a bit worried if it was good or bad for her. After this video, I don't mind her doing it anymore. She's on raw meat diet by the way so I don't think she's got any deficiencies. Thanks!

    CAN DOGS EAT HONEY?

    • @DanScott1
      @DanScott1  6 месяцев назад

Raw honey or manuka honey only. ie Manuka Honey: amzn.to/3GBzc4P
Other honey options are too over processed with no benefits while raw or manuka retain healing abilities and some nutrients.
