This is by far the best reel for the money hands down. it's faster in gear ration than the quantum speed freak and it retrieves more line per inch than most reels for double the price if you want a smooth fast spinning reel for less than 100$ don't hesitate just get one.
got mine today for 35$ at gander mountain. feels at least like a 100 dollar reel. Started with 15 lb braid with an 8 lb flourocarbon leader. fished for smallmouth with a very small finesse jig, hooked up on a 9 lb drum with ease. very smooth, handled it very well. Worth every penny. Great video!
johnny adamany I am literally still using this reel since I unboxed it and I still! Have not opened it or overhauled it and it's dead smooth and works perfect
You guys have to check out daiwa's new LT spinning reels. I'm literally drooling over how good they're looking. The Legalis LT is replacing this old legalis. It's $70 bucks now, but it has a very strong rigid zaion body, it's 2 ounces lighter (2500 size - 7.2 oz), it has a much larger line capacity, has a couple more lbs of drag, has an extra bearing, the spool lip has a larger flare for better casting, and the drag knob is also larger and better. For $100 you can also get the Fuego LT now which is magsealed and has more bearings. Daiwa objectively makes the best spinning reels for the money. The only reels that can compete with their new ones is the stradic ci4 or fk which costs over twice as much.
Great review. I will buy this reel for backup to my 2015 Daiwa Fuego. BTW you mentioned your Lexa's drag sticking? Loosen up those drag after fishing to keep the oil from drying between the drag plates. :-)
Hello - You mentioned you like Shimano grease for your reels. I just purchased this Legalis & out-of-the box it feels like it needs greased, did you end up greasing yours? Which Shimano grease do you prefer (Shimano Dura-Ace, Shimano Internal Hub Grease, Freehub Grease)? Also, do you have a favorite reel-oil? Thanks!
I like to use the grease and oils that the reels use.. But sometimes a reel using shimano grease and oil works so much better.. But i have noticed shimano grease and oil work badly in a quantum and some daiwa reels. And you shimano Reel Drag Grease not bike grease.. And beleive it or not i have not had to overhaul my legalis yet there bot super smooth..
now that you have had this reel for 6 months, are you satisfied with it? I am looking at these reels or the daiwa revros. so I am just wondering how this reel is performing now compared to when it was new.
Yeah i have one dude, same price i guess and smooth too. I opened it though cuz it got soaked in saltwater, i think i messed up the alignment and is now making a little noise..still im surprised its not rusting at all..

Yea I always loosen my drags after a day of fishing. Compresses the drag washers to much
People who say the pflueger president is smooth and the best bang for the buck clearly has never heard of the daiwa legalis. This reel is awesome!
Yea for the money I don't know what could beat it
Looks like a great reel for the price. Great video to.
Yea man i cant wait to really get a few good bass on it and see how long it stays nice
Great vid, 1 question though. Is the color on the reel black with gold, or navy and gold ? Can find a clear pic of it to figure this out .....
Joey Garcia Dark blue with micro flakes

Inshore but make sure you clean it
