@@Suction_ I get it...but this has some retro looks. Of course you could do the same to a new one. I guess we will see. Used 4Runner, Taco and Tundra prices almost beg you to buy new.
I really like this truck's look and functionality everything on it is so on point. Also, i think the modern day equivalent to it would be a single cab Hilux, 2.7 engine and appearance 👌🏼
You guys need to get guys like Jay Leno and other rich car guys to bid it up for them to use as a tax right off. It would take it into a price range to high for the poor but the home can use the money. But Tommy taking the tow rope out man I don't know, lol. Should also have David sign his master piece in the box for fun. I hope you get twice what it really is worth.
I think this is one of your nicer projects. I think I saw all of it's vids but I don't recall.... What was the gas mileage after all the mods? Is it worth having the smaller engine in a fairly heavy unit?
That engine is more than big enough for that size of truck but I would think that it would go better with the 5 speed. They standard cab trucks are fairly basic and not that heavy. If I remember correctly when I had my last 4 cyl Toy with 32" mud Terrains it was an 83 it got about 24 mpg.
@@MrBillsfishin Thanks. 24 would be ok for me. It seems the bumpers, winch and tires would add quite a lot of weight though. They do quite good mpg tests. I was hoping I missed it for this truck.
You guys did a great job! I watched and enjoyed every episode with my seven year old son. I’m 45 years old and have been wanting a Toyota truck like this since before they were called Tacomas (and before I could drive)-I think Back to the Future did it for me. Finally bought one a few months ago and love it. Mine is new, but I’m certain whoever gets this one will love it. And thanks for donating the proceeds the way your are.
My 2001 Tacoma was a rust bucket! Hope you thoroughly checked the integrity of the frame! Vehicles totaled in states that use salt on winter roads were the worst.
Super cool project. Wish that $3500 for the engine rebuild had gone into a better swap though. Could have earmarked the bumper funds toward the engine upgrade too.
Pass. Been there, had one. Upgraded to a real truck (F150 on 32’s), which gets same MPG as my buddy’s newer Taco on 32’s but the F150 can tow nearly twice as much and has a better ride.
I'm still waiting in that 300 i6 f150 you guys abused on the farm to come back, it'll stick it to any toyota in reliability and everyone will agree who knows the 300 6
😂...yeah 300 engine was a very good engine but the transmission sucked mostly automatics but some manuals are still around which are not very good...also don't forget they rusted everywhere not just the frame and interior fell apart that why you can buy way cheaper then Toyota....
@@robertblack6630 i own 3 stick shift ford 300 trucks and my 87 F250HD pulls on par with a 6.9 idi and a little worse than a 7.3 idi but for a fraction of the maintnance costs

That 2002 Tacoma sure would look great in my driveway, it's a beauty now for sure.
Man. $10k already. Glad it's going to charity but the prices on trucks are insane.
I expect to sell for $20k. Just my guess.

I’m buying a new car. I don’t want the market to re adjust and I loose 6-10k on a purchase in a second.

Selling it for charity for Children's home!!..I think that's jus Great Tommy😃😀😄Smart choice!! Gotta help the children ❤️
Why does every man and his dog have their own auction site these days? Surely the market would be bigger on ebay?
Money
Tommy: “The heat will melt your face off.”
Me: “I’ll finally be able to fight the Nazi for the Ark of the Covenant!”
Great video! It would be fun to see a similar video series with an older soft-roader build!!! Maybe like a Forester, Rav4, or ford Escape.
Can't believe u guys put tan on that
Was there a video detailing the final price that went to charity? I don't see one...

such a dope idea, however as the proud new owner of a 02 v6 4door i will miss this single cab first gen build mucho :(
Love the old Toyota pickups, back in the 80s when there was the Mighty Max, Nissan oh I missed a buying opportunity.
Great series! Awesome truck! Gave me ideas for mine! Great job
This is so cool and retro! Well done. Basic off-road and camping truck. Love it!
Was it ever confirmed if the frame was replaced? I know it’s not rusty , just asking.
Love the baby yota, but man, I miss David, is there a video with him coming soon? Great video as always!
Have you watched David's channel he has a few videos of his own.
*Wish I could hop on this auction*

mpg is 16 in the city. 4 speed auto. manual will get 18 in the city. The auto is rarer and imo better.
I just wish it was a manual... I'd be in line to get it
Let’s get David back on the show
This wasn’t around for long

They did if you watched the old videos. ToyTec inspected and it was a replacement.

can you post a link to the rear bumper. I'd like to get one for mine. Thx
When the auction time ends the timer starts over. They add another 24 hours. Auction was supposed to end a week ago. Lol.
Gorgeous truck
Just curious ,is the original oem parts that you took off also included in the sale? Or did you sell it / give it away?
Man I'd be tickled to have that pickup.
Tommy will tickle the winning bidder!
No it's a saying. Kinda like saying "I'd be happy to have that".

Darn, was hoping you guys were going to raffle this.
Are you guys gonna do another video non six-shooter?

You can call Toyota and give them the vin and they will tell you if it fit the recalls replaced
so what year is it truthfully? 0:27 you said 2002 then on 1:04 you said 01 Tacoma.
They could have done and engine clean before putting up for sale.
How much did it auction off for
That used to be a really nice truck before...
How much is it?
I am from canada how can i bid on this vehicle?
Go to tflbids.com. Please note all bids are in USD
I haven't seen much of Case lately.
Only a week ago Kase did a video with his dad on a mid-'90s Porshe 911. His father lives out of state, so maybe Kase was on vacation.

TOO bad its automatic. $15,500 not bad, i was thinking it will go for around 20...

Well that didn't last long.
