I love my first gen 2004 (V6 crew cab) Tacoma. It’s never failed me, but with 180k, I keep it close to home now. My daily driver is a 2017 Jeep (2door) JK. The Jeep guy’s rag on the Toyota guys, and vice versa, but I love them both.
When you say the Gladiator is well beyond the Tacoma you aren’t kidding, even the PRO. The Launch Edition was listing at $63,700 and it was the only one that wasn’t being marked up in Honolulu. I had one ordered but didn’t quite like the way it drove and for the money a Tacoma returned better value.
Trd pro and rubicon have the exact same base price. Rubicon has a lot more ways to customize it and has options tacoma doesn’t so that will cost you if you want all those extra things.

Imagine wanting to make your truck more off-road capable, but instead of beefing up the drivetrain, putting a Locker on both axles and higher reduction transfer case gearing, you decide to spend millions of dollars engineering software to use the cruise control system and the brakes to take away all of the fun of being the driver. There is no school like the old school.

You’re wrong about not being able to get it on the long bed double cab. I had the TRD lift installed on my long bed by the dealer when I purchased it 3 weeks ago. You also get the TRD pro grill it’s included in the kit.

All the way through, to the Parking / Emergency brake ( 15:48 mark ) this is a true emergency brake that can be used to at least slow the vehicle to a stop,...you can't do this today with those electrically operated parking brakes, I wonder what was wrong with the fully manual brake system, that caused the whole industry to switch to a very complicated " E-brake "? If you don't think it is complicated, just try replacing the rear brake rotors and pads on an "E-brake" equipped vehicle today! ( Another way that was invented to force the owner to go to a considerably more expensive service center to get this otherwise simple repair done. )

No that's over 51 grand because every dealer marks up Pro's there hard to find in any state. The dealer installed lift also is 1 inch taller then a pro.
I have nothing to complain about with my 2021. All vf tuner does it void your factory warranty if anything goes wrong I've heard way to many horror stories. The tune doesn't always go right. Buy a supercharger at least you get 3 year 36k mile warranty.

The one their testing is a weird spec. It has every unneeded option but is missing the logical ones like led headlights. I also don’t get why you wouldn’t just get a TRD Pro for a few thousand more.
I have a 2020 Tacoma TRD off-road in voodoo blue with technology package and LED headlights and fog lights that I got for 35K so what the heck are you talking about
I find it disturbing how much rust is on the new Tacoma. I did realize that some of what I thought was rust was actually mud, because it was on a rubber bushing and it takes WAY more than a year for rubber to rust 🙄, but on a truck under a year old the bit of rust that is starting shouldn't be obvious watching a video on a phone.

What Toyota should care about is how they gear these trucks appropriately. I've had an automatic third gen, and a manual third gen now, the manual is a bit more exciting to drive, but shouldn't have to be OV tuned off the lot just to drive decent. I mean, the drive is okay but could be better. Overall these trucks are solid

Tundra has more comfortable seating 💺 position. The Tacoma isn't terrible tho.
There is a aftermarket part called seat jackers and it solves that problem

I put a simple 700lb over load spring in my PRO. Low payload solved. Still rides as good as stock with my 600lb on the back.

lots of dealers set them up like that. Toyota skimps on parts that they know you will upgrade.
All of my tacoma's came Goodyear's looked flat smashed to ground. Bfg ko would be huge upgrade in C load range 31 10.50 15

The 2" TRD lift kit deleted the fog lights because they're higher than legal in some states. "Baggage" with factory lift kits.
