For the first time, development of the cabriolet version of the 997 led the design and engineering effort at Porsche with the coupé following. Porsche applied the logic that if you started with the more difficult cabriolet challenges (for chassis stiffness) the coupé version would simply be more rigid. Despite additional weight, the cabriolet versions attain nearly the same performance figures as their coupé counterparts. Even the rear tail comes up slightly higher on the cabriolets to compensate for differences in drag over the canvas top vs. the smoother coupé shape. The 997 cabriolet had factory optional hard tops that provided better protection from unexpected weather conditions than the conventional canvas top. It is interchangeable with that available on the late 996 cabriolet models. The hardtop provides a winter option to cabriolet owners.

I couldn't agree more, that's an absolutely fantastic all round car. Looks and sounds better than the gen 2. Cabriolet adds a degree of enjoyment and engagement that you don't get on the coupe, but just as comfortable and refined with the roof up.
(It's not 240bhp though, it's 325ps/ 321bhp/240 KW.)

After watching this video to completion this guy is spot on. The 997.1 is, without a doubt, a steal of a bargain relative to other 911's. I grew up with Porsche 911s and have owned a number of them myself. This model is my personnal favorite. If you like driving, this is THE car to own. Pure pleasure and a smile on your face!

The 3.6 is more than 240bhp. That’s like boxster power surely.

2007 4S, I like your enthusiasm. When I am asked about the power of my 3.8, I like to answer: 354 horses plus 1 donkey. And the last can be quite decisive 😊 Open rear spoiler when not driving can kill the beautiful rear of this 911 though. Check the rear of 356 A which we luckily inherited to some extend.

I am in the process of buying a 2008 C4S cabriolet. Out of all the 911’s I drove during my hunt, this was my favorite.
It felt like a perfect blend of modernity and classic.
Maybe I’m just nostalgic

Not 240 hp.It makes 325hp you got it wrong.
