Absolutely fantastic, I’m a home mechanic and this has saved me a absolute world of pain researching things to fix my wife’s car. Thank you sir 🙏

About to do my wifes C3 only difference is it`s a Picasso, but looking at everything it appears the same set up, Thanks for a great video.
Glad to be of some help 👍
Hope it all goes well 🤞
Thanks for posting this video. I like your easy going style. I would have watched it all but mine's a 2006 C3 and all I want to do is change the clutch fluid.
Thanks for the positive comment 👍
Have you got an automatic or manual gearbox?
Great job, great thanks. Very helpful!
👍 Take a look at my C3 playlist 😜
Love watching these videos. Lots of steps to get at the clutch.
Thanks for the positive feedback 👍
Yes, it’s a big job to get into the actual clutch assembly. The clutch itself isn’t a hard or time consuming job, it’s getting the gearbox out that’s the effort.
You can see why it costs a lot in a garage!
Another C3 video this Saturday evening at 7:30 pm 😉
Brilliant video, certainly made life a lot easier when replacing the clutch, cheers buddy 👍
Glad it helped you out, even to give you an idea of where everything is before you start the job!

Great video. That upper starter bolt is a killer, particularly since I couldnt separate the drive shaft from the hub. Tried everything and then just worked around it.
Yes, i feel your pain 😂
Did you manage to complete the job?
@@gilberesrepairs I’m in the thick of it. Everything bolting back up and the bolt for the starter from the other side isn’t lined up. Thinking loosen the two bolts and jiggle it till I get it in. Your video is a godsend
@@paraicotoole1634 Yes, leave all bolts loose until they are caught in the threads, only then tighten them up 😜

Legend, where have you been all this while? You should be doing videos for us on a regular basis. You are great and knowledgeable in automobile repairs. Are you a qualified mechanic or a diy’er?
Thanks for the videos, very much appreciated, useful, helpful and informing.
Thanks for your kind comments 👍
I am a diy’er with an engineering background 👍
Thank you very much for such detailed video! Great job!
Not a problem. I hope it helps!
I gotta do mine near future which sucks...but this video is like an army training before the war ( people who have changed clutch themselves before will know what I mean) and the training couldn't be any better. If a non professional mechanic could be given best motivation that he can do it himself and best explanation this gotta be it. Yes great video thinking of geting c3 just wanted idear on clutch change A1 great job your son owes you a drink or 2
Thanks for the positive feedback 👍
I never got a drink 🤔
They are good cars really and the parts are reasonable when required.
A word of warning ⚠️ My son has the C3 1.4 hdi and i have a C3 Picasso 1.6 hdi and they are proven engines fitted across many manufacturers (Citroen Peugeot Ford Volvo)
My sister in-law has the 1.2 3 cylinder petrol engine with 50,000 miles and it drinks oil. The 1.2 petrol also has a “wet belt” where the cambelt is submersed in the engine oil. The belts can swell up and break up, causing a blockage in the oil pick-up pipe in the sump! My advise is… do some research on the petrol engine if that’s what you are considering buying 😉
I have a C3 Playlist on my channel and from next Saturday i’m starting a service series on my C3 Picasso 👍
Any questions feel free to ask 👍
Very informative film. My C3 need to change the clutch, but it is too difficult to me, lying at the floor ;-) but it costs 606£
Glad the video was informative 😎
Yes, it’s a decent amount of work to take on. If you do decide to have a try, jack it up as high as you can and support the car on axle stands 👍
I had a look on those repair comparison sites, and for a 1.6 diesel, near Birmingham, the prices start from £450. My local Citroen dealer charge £900
@@RM-vv9eh Yes, i had a quote for £650 including changing the gearbox oil, from a local clutch specialist centre. I ended up doing this for around about £100, using a quality clutch as well.
@@gilberesrepairs
How long do you reckon the job took ? I think I've seen 9 hours quoted before.
@@RM-vv9eh I think a garage would allow one day to do the job and probably finish earlier.
I would allow two full days if doing this at home by yourself 👍 You know how it goes when doing a job at home, something always goes wrong 😂😂
Great job mate✌️
Cheers 👍
Good video, thanks
@@MrTeamRobert It’s a long tedious video, but hopefully gave you an insight of what to expect 👍

Been quoted £350 for the clutch on C3 1.1cc same year. I'm in two minds to attempt it the clutch itself costs £50. Good video will keep you posted if i do it....cheers.
Difficult one, haven’t got or don’t want to spend the money, but also don’t want to break it if it goes wrong 🤔
I had a quote for this C3 and it was £650 to change the clutch and renew the gearbox oil at the same time. I did both for around about £100.
At least the C1 gearbox will be a bit lighter to lift out 😂
Keep me updated if you have a stab at it. It would be good for me to know if my video was of any use to someone 👍
@@gilberesrepairs I did the clutch back in April the gearbox was heavy but i was on my back underneath car. I'm glad i had your vid to look at though luckily it all went smoothly.

That’s about as cheap a clutch can possibly be done for… £50 🥳🥳🥳

Hi I have done my clutch and now I have no reverse have all other gears just not reverse is there any adjustments on the cables? Or any ideas
I’m unsure about any adjustment. But i would start by looking at the selector cables.
I take it everything was fine before changing the clutch?
Hi I've had the clutch done. I have a slight drip coming from somewhere and it smells like gear box oil...any advice?
Hello, more than likely a driveshaft oil seal has been damaged when putting the driveshafts back in. I’m only guessing but that would be the first place i’d check.
Hope you find it 😉
Keep us updated 👍
@@gilberesrepairs thanks great video.. I've probably got 1.95 litre left..
That’s not to bad. Just get it checked out and sorted in the near future to prevent any long term gearbox damage 😉
Did you do the clutch yourself, or a garage?
Great video sir! Is this almost the same method for my Citroen DS4? 1.6 THP semi automatic
Thanks for the positive feedback 👍
Sorry, i’m totally unsure if it’s the same. I think the 1.6 THP engine is also fitted to the Peugeot RCZ and the Mini Cooper S 🤔
Worth a search on those cars if you’re doing research 😉 I would say the RCZ would be your best bet.
@@gilberesrepairs appreciate your quick reply! Will take a look at the RCZ 👍🏼
@@BashAndCrawlKing Yeah, the RCZ is probably the best option 👍
I have to change my clutch this saturday on my Citroen C3 II 1.6 diesel. Which tools are needed for this job?
You mentioned something about a 16mm top - any other sizes. And size allan key and torx if you can remember 🙂
Sorry for the delay in replying 😉
I can’t remember the actual sizes of the Allen Keys or Torx Bits, but i can say that they aren’t any unusual sizes as my tools are very basic standard sets.
The only tool that i would call a specialist tool is the Clutch Alignment Tool, and they don’t cost much on Amazon 👍
Sorry, i’m not much help 👎
Hope all goes well for you, keep us updated with your progress 👍
Ok thx. I have found a way to make my own allignment tool, so I'm good to go.

@@gilberesrepairs I succeded in changing the clutch alongside some other stuff. But when i start the car it's very rough and rattles a lot. It's only when i start the engine. Once it runs it runs smooth...??
@@JOK3R_DK Excellent that you managed the clutch 👍 Not so good you’ve got problems 🤯
Is it rough when turning the engine over on the starter or when it’s idling?
Hello. I would like to ask you this. I have bought a 2016 Citroen C3 1.6BlueHdi 99ps, 5 speed manual with 105.000km on the clock. When I started driving the car, the clutch felt very stiff. I changed the whole clutch set (LUK parts) as well as the clutch pump, and only the first day the clutch was quite lighter. After the second day, the clutch feels almost as hard as before changing it. Well, it has an initial soft feeling for the first 1/5 of the clutch travel and then it starts becoming very stiff to press. And of course, when lifting the foot, it depresses with the opposite firm way. It actually hurts my left foot, where I press the pedal. Should this be normal? Does this car has or must have such a stiff clutch? Thank tou. Vassilis
Hello Vassilis.
Definitely not normal. We currently have two Citroens in the family and they both behave how a clutch should behave.
I would recommend unbolting the clutch pump (slave cylinder) from the side of the gearbox and trying the pedal again. This would prove whether your fault is internal (clutch) or an external fault.
Certainly better than removing the gearbox again!!
Keep us updated... Sandy.
Hello. Thank you for your prompt response. I do not have engineering knowledge and I cannot do these things on my own. I went to 2 different mechanics and they told me that the clutch sensation is almost standard. But I am sure that if I leave it like this it will totally hurt my leg. I couldn't imagine such an airy small French car to be so hard on tge clutch. I have started thinking to try and find any reinforced upper or/and lower clutch pumps, or even better a servo mechanism.
@@vassilisg If two garages say it’s ok then it must close to how it should feel.
Maybe some research on modifications would help in the long run 👍

Outstanding! How do I set my Biting Point to the middle of the clutch freeplay on a Citroen C3?
I couldnt see the adjuster from underneath the pedal like any other vehicles.
Thanks.
@@noahchibamba9466 I’m unsure, but i think it’s self adjusting.
Don’t take my word as i’m not confident in my answer 😂😂
Sorry.
I don't have that blue 💙 tool element...do i really need Couse i will need once and no need to buy it Hope i can use something else Any info will be thankfully, Best Regards
Hello,
Basically the friction plate has to be central when clamped in place by the pressure plate. You could use any bar of the correct diameter. The tool i used in the video only costs about £10. But yes you’ll probably only use it once.
Also how long did it take you, and did u have to bleed the clutch
I did the job over many days, just an hour here and an hour there. If you are doing the clutch at home and not done one before, i would allow two full days to carry out the job.
I didn’t have to bleed the clutch because the cylinder unbolted, therefore no fluid was disturbed.
Hope this helps.
perfect! Is it the clutch if the pedal drops to floor
@@gilberesrepairs
Hello, does this model have a dual mass clutch ?
Hello, this is the 1.4 hdi and it has not got a dual mass, it has a solid flywheel, which makes it cheaper and easier to do 🥳
I think (from memory) the job only cost £110 including new gearbox oil and using a valeo clutch 😎
Hope this is of some help!
Don’t forget to check out my C3 playlist 👍
what does it mean if clutch pedal is going all way to floor on same car as this

Can I ask you how much it would cost to change in a garage ? Price range? Many thanks
As it happens i know exactly, because i priced up the job in a garage to show my son 😂😂 Just to let him realise what i’d saved him!!
Garage price… £660 including gearbox oil change
Dads price… £106.80 including gearbox oil
Hope this helps in your decision making 🤔

@@pierfrancescoditucci2644 I tell him that 😂😂
If you do the job, my advice is to buy a branded clutch not the cheapest one, because it’s such a big job to replace a failed unit 😉 The branded clutches are not that expensive, i think the one i used was ‘valeo’ 👍
@@gilberesrepairs yes! in Cambridge tehir ask me even more than 660... to replca the clatch, I was thinking to buy Valeo or Luck.

My 2010 Picasso has rivets on the lower wheel knuckle is there another way to remove this hub? or are you just meant to drill it out and replace with bolts?
ruclips.net/video/nlc0oqerJss/видео.html I guess this is common
@@marcofixit Hello
There should be a “pinch” nut and bolt you undo to release the ball joint pin. Above the rivets?
Sandy.
@gilberesrepairs yeah I did undo that, and then hit the lower plate for about 10 minutes to try see if it budged or not. Will try again tomorrow morning
@@marcofixit
Q1… Did you fully remove the Pinch Nut and Bolt?
They have to be fully removed because the bolt normally fits into a recess in the ball joints pin.
Q2… Did you have the whole front end of the car jacked up, or just one side?
If only one side is jacked up you’ll be fighting against the anti-roll bar. (ask me how i know 🙄)
Sandy.
@gilberesrepairs after much swearing, I did get it off. The prop shaft basically fell out. now to do the other side. The problem I forsee coming up will be the centring of the clutch I will see if hss hire has it otherwise I'll have to come up with another plan
