I was given great advise many years ago " when it comes to changing any fluids, always make sure you can undo the refill nut bolt or screw before you drain it".

Could you put 2.5 liters of oil? I think that is the maximum capacity I wonder 2 liters or 2.5 liters is the best result.And is it necessary to change the oil filter as well?

Hi how do you know when youve got right amount..emg if you were topping up. My cars done 46000 miles some leaked out from drive shaft sili im not sure how much i need ir shouodbi just charge the lot
Yes, i would drain the oil and replace it. The oil seals are not expensive, i think they are only £15 ish. A garage would probably charge up to 2hrs labour to fit a new seal. Then you know your new oil will stay in 👍
@@gilberesrepairs I am fairly competent d.i.y mechanic as I changed the control arms and shock myself. Is it not a case of it pushing into place and sliding over the lip edge on one side to create the seal? Or a specific tool is needed? Looks straightforward?
The oil seal just gets hooked out with a screwdriver and then the new one pressed in with a nylon mallet or with a big socket. @@gilberesrepairs thanks yes saw it. The drive shaft is it simple slot in to place and the rubber seal seals it. Or does it lock into place by pushing or tapping it...I.e circlip type It popped out without me even realising until I saw the oil piss out lol. So I was messing with it trying to get it to lock/engage in place? But as soon as I tried to lower car police was leaking out.
@@martinsiebert3853 That’s why you want thick oil 👍 I think there are a couple of bearings that can fail in the gearbox. I would recommend getting a good used gearbox or having your gearbox repaired by a specialist. If you put thick oil in the gearbox you can have difficulty getting it into gear. I’m sorry to say… i would replace or repair the gearbox! Sandy.

Just done a drive shaft on sisters c3 and lost a bit, so will do a change on it. Thought is was going to be a pain but looks ok to do
