I’ve only dabbled in streaming but I’ve been an editor for a long time. There is a lot of really good info here, presented well without getting lost in technical jargon. Very strong work. More like this please!
Absolutely amazing video; the edit of blurring the feet was top notch! :D I love that you went through cheap, standard, and more expensive options and whether it was really needed. The audio section is so true. And even *after* a reboot, it still might not work because your audio driver\software may have updated completely changing how it is seen in OBS. Thanks Logitech 😅 Thanks Reece!
Great video, Reece! Love your streams and watch them every morning on Twitch, most weekdays. Baldur’s Gate Bursdays are my favorite day of the week! Oh and hey, Deals… 😊
Thank you very much Reece! Could you please do a Pt. 2 of this, but now talking about layouts and twitch plugins for chat, putting chats on screen, notifications for donations and things of the sort?
For the most part you brought up a lot of great points, but I have a couple of points of contention. Firstly a mirrorless camera with lens can be had for less than $1k, also getting a camera and lens second hand from a reputable reseller can also be a good way to save cash, so you can still have a quality camera option. Even some some compact camera options like the Sony ZV-1F can be used for a webcam. Obviously as you said, depending on what your doing the webcam may be the better option, but those wanting a mirrorless can be found for a reasonable price if your patient with your search. Second thing is the audio portion, although, nvidia broadcast can help tremendously, picking the right microphone from the get go can also help deal with crappy room acoustics like echoes, reflections, reverbs, etc,. A dynamic microphone would be a better choice to use than a condenser microphone in those situations, since condenser mics pick any and all noise. Also, the Shure SM7B is a good mic but there are also lots of great options for budget mics some examples being: Shure SM57/58, Sennheiser E835, Audio Technica ATM650, Rode PodMic, and more. The audio interface can be a simple plug and play unit like the Focusrite Scarlett Solo, Audient EVO 4, M-Audio M-Track Duo, Behringer U-Phoria UM2, etc,. You don't really need a fancy mixer or anything to grab audio. I bring up all these points because these offer something that the usb options do not, versatility. I'm not an expert or anything and I'm still learning all this, but at the end of it all people should do their do diligence, do their research and see which options would work best for their setups.
Little mistake when showing comparison between 1080-60, 720-60 and 1080-30 when showing stardew valley in the end, it still says 1080-60 instead of 30. Great tips for a new streamer, actually modified a few settings myself!
It can be a little tricky to set up, but with how much better modern tech is at encoding I don’t feel like it’s needed as much anymore and I’m seeing it less and less!
The twitch bandwidth part isnt completely true. Even as a non partner or affiliate you can go higher than 6000. The stream will show as unstable on your twitch mod view but still have perfect output until you reach your actual cap afterwhich your bandwidth gets reduced to 3500 iirc. If pushed too high the stream doesnt run at all. I run mine at a cbr of 7000
Unless you changing your voice I would not use Voicemod, if you want you can use Steelseries Sonar it works with any mic just have to create a free account and you separate your game and mic with eq and a great noise suppression just to name a few.
I use to do live chats on youtube with just my phone but im starting to get into game streaming on twitch. Im so lost with obs i cant even get different scenes to work.
Instructions unclear, ended up VTubing in 2.434% Jokes aside, thank you very much for these insights~ I imagine these are mostly the same for VTubers with some changes in capture tech because of the applications involved with the 3D /Live2d mocap aspect…

Noted! 🫡

Great Video! Thank you.
Your point about buying an nVidia gpu is why I'm excited and planning to get an intel gpu.

The pixelated feet are killing me.
You missed 1664x936 60fps
It can make a huge difference to 1080p on twitch
Same goes for 48fps instead of 60
hi Reece
Hi 👋
I recently started streaming and man oh man.. its tedious. :(
Keep at it!
Bruh... I was about to search something about OBS 😂
Reese, do you recommend using two computers? One to play your game, and the other to capture, mix, encode, and stream?
It can be a little tricky to set up, but with how much better modern tech is at encoding I don’t feel like it’s needed as much anymore and I’m seeing it less and less!

Apparently, Voicemod adjust my mic volume. I recorded a video just now, I didn't even hear my own voice. That video is ruined... Sigh...

I have been playing with OBS on and off for over a year now. Such a pain to get set up only to have an update reset all of the settings.
Let’s gooooo!!!!
Seems stressful, i dont think i would ever stream
I use to do live chats on youtube with just my phone but im starting to get into game streaming on twitch. Im so lost with obs i cant even get different scenes to work.
What do you mean you can't get different scenes to work?
Now just need some useful tips for AMD gpu....Everything was nvidia based
I just downloaded obs
Instructions unclear, ended up VTubing in 2.434%
Jokes aside, thank you very much for these insights~

I found that 720p is too chopped up for me so I use 1600x900 and it runs smoother and looks good
Also a good compromise!
is a intel gpu good for streaming? I've got an arc a770 and want to start streaming and making video
But what about v tubing stuff?
Working on something 🤝
commenting to stay on noob streamers lol😊
we need sli back
36s second ago damn I'm early
Why do you hate AMD?
