if you're reading this and new to streaming, best of luck to achieve your goals. Listen to everything Harris Heller says about how to get set up with your stream. Every piece of information that he gives is totally worth hearing and will set you up in the right direction! Goodluck guys! Ps. Great set up there!! LOVE IT!
@@Fishing-In-Japan Seems genuine to me. Maybe you're projecting? Guy's bringing good vibes that matches well with this channel and its community. This take of yours is just odd, not to mention rude.
Harris is an entrepreneur that has made thousands off of multiple projects like streambeats, senpai records, and senpai/alpha gaming. He is experienced, and is worth listening to.
I've been taking notes for 6 years and only got the cojones to do it last month. My BIGGEST piece of advice to anyone thinking of doing it is to just get started right away. Don't let fear paralyze you. I kept thinking "well I don't have a good enough camera yet." or "I don't have a nice background" so many dumb excuses. That fear goes away as soon as you do it a few times, so might as well get started right away!
Thank you for doing this video. I'm working on setting my first twitch stream up, and I have been overwhelmed by the amount of confusing information out there. I'm a blue-collar trade guy, and I was honestly worried I wouldn't be able to figure this out. So, I'm glad I found this. Thanks again
All the best on your journey! I'd been thinking about it since 2018 but only actually started (fear) last month! It's been a lot of fun, but definitely a grind and a half to build up a community!
As a side note about Display Capture: remember that it captures everything on the selected display! I've seen too many streamers accidentally dox themselves (personal email, phone number, address, etc) because they forgot which scene or monitor they were on. Just be mindful, especially if you're starting out with a single monitor setup. :)
Rule of thumb, if you can, use a computer just for streaming with no personal accounts on it. And if you cannot afford to do that: 1. Don't use a linked windows account 2. Set up your main browser to not launch while obs is active (anti distraction/productivity aid software does this) 3. Set a immediately recognisable theme for the browser you are allowed to use. 4. Turn off auto fill on the browser you are free to use.
Your smile at the end of the video feels like a classic "Got'em". The one thing I'd have to say about advertising your own products on your own videos is: "If you're not gonna shill for yourself, nobody else will". You're always clear and upfront about your product placement, sponsorships and ads. That is what's important. Almost nobody wants more ads, but if you want the creators you watch to succeed that's how you do it.
Love the video! Big help with starting OBS. If you have trouble fitting OBS on a vertical monitor like me, read below! My OBS would not fit on my side vertical monitor no matter what I did. I tried: - Enabling portrait/vertical layout in OBS - Rearranging the docks - Adjusting my display scaling - Trying to override high DPI settings BUT once I went to OBS properties, compatibility, and settings; I disabled fullscreen optimizations and it could finally fit on my vertical monitor without leaking over into my horizontal one.
58 year old mom here who's kids think it's hilarious to watch me play video games, something I do to destress. They gave me a second monitor and headset so I can start doing something they have been bugging me to do at least a year...start a Twitch streaming account. Thank you for helping me learn how to do something that was completely foreign to me. Also, you don't need to be dropping winks in your videos. It's too much. Stop it.
This style of episodes makes it much easier and simpler to understand the set-up process, it's all broken down very well. Thank you for it and keep it up!
It’s funny how I’ve been using Streamlabs for 7 years and was recently thinking of switching to OBS and here we are… a Harris video explaining OBS. You the man
I'm starting out to become a VTuber on Twitch and see how it goes, as a beginner it's overwhelming to get started but your video made this so much easier and simple to understand. Thank you so much!
This is awesome! Just want to add, if you are sharing your whole screen, be extra careful about not sharing any personal or sensitive information. It's ridiculously easy to forget an open document or a social network browser window and broadcast it.
I was thinking of restarting my RUclips channel and record my gameplay for Season 4 of Word of Warcraft Dragonflight expansion. I took a long break from WoW and even went as far as deleting my OBS. I just wasn't sure if was going to come back. I am grateful you and your team are finally doing a master class for steaming. It was long overdue and streaming gameplay is not slowing down in today's world.
Bro's out here our Master Classing Master Class... I've been a content creator and live streamer for 4 years using OBS... And I had no idea about the alt trick to prevent my camera cropping from carrying from scene to scene.... You've saved me from so much drama. Also, I've never manipulated audio sources directly from the settings so it's always a mess from scene to scene of me moving nested audio sources across everything. Looking forward to the next videos in this series and thanks for taking the time to pull it together and make it accessible for free... Unlike ninja
I just want to express my gratitude for all the work you put into this video. It's difficult to find a comprehensive video from A to Z on how to stream without presupposing so much. I'm a new streamer, and this video is the best I've found. Thank you. Can't wait to watch more.
This came just in time. I just got my new desk and was planning on resetting everything up and starting fresh since it’s been a couple years since I’ve actually done anything. Thank you so much, I am eternally grateful!
I can't thank you enough for all of your amazing videos and the music you and your team have created for streamers to use. I'm amazed and can't believe I just now found you. I started streaming on Twitch about 6 months ago, but I just now found your channel and it's so helpful. I'm excited to learn how to add music which is something I haven't done yet. Again, thank you!
This is wild, i have been watching a ton of your stuff and have been getting stuff together to start streaming once i finish my finals for this semester and then you dropped this. Love your content its been a healthy combination of educational, inspiring, and entertaining. Thank you for what you do
The content you create is so easy to comprehend and digest even for someone like me that no longer has enough mental bandwidth to allocate for new hobbies that I want to explore. Thank you so much, Harris!
I come back to this class anytime I am setting up OBS from scratch or for a friend. It is like my check sheet so I don't forget anything. Also it support the channel that got me to start streaming.
Bout to make me stream again like its 2018! no honestly been wanting to do it again and have fun so watching theses helps me remember everything! Thanks Harris!
Thank you for this excellent video for starters. I followed every step and now I have a beginners set up for streaming. For the next part of this MasterClass series, I would suggest showing how to show the chat on your stream and how to customize the look of the chat. Additionally, I would love to learn how to customize and set up scenes, such as a "Starting Soon" or "Be Right Back" scene for viewers. I've tried to make my own but I struggled on how to set them up correctly. Lastly, I would like to learn how to customize the border of your webcam/notification/etc. Overall, I would love a video talking about customization of your stream for viewers. Once again, thank you for this excellent OBS MasterClass video and I look forward to the next video!
You helped me out sooo much i was ripping my hair out trying to independently do it myself and i was just sooo lost. Then i watched your video on it and i can finally get my feet wet in the streaming career! Thank you much!
I am glad for these master classes. Even though I have been streaming for years, Harris always has great tips and explains everything to make it simple to understand
Gotta say I appreciate watching this so much! I'm opening myself up to streaming this year and this made the part about OBS that I've already been so nervous about seem so simple!! Hoping for great things!!!
Please continue this series. You have been very helpful in understanding obs for a noob like me. I liked and subscribed and looking forward to learning more. Thank you for sharing your knowledge to all of us, knowledge is truly power. I started my first stream last night and I loved it! I had 0 views but that's ok I'm only in this to make people happy and entertained. If I can make only one person happy ill be ecstatic!
I met Harris Heller last week and I was super star strucked that my mind went blank. I had to thank him for everything he does and for streambeats! 🙌🏽 sorry if I embarrassed you.
You just gained a new follower! i’m starting my first streaming channel soon and I’ve watched over 10 videos that were very hard to understand but you made this look extremely easy. Thank you for that!! ❤
I'm so excited for this series! All your great tips in one, coherent, streamlined package. No more searching through your entire library of videos for that one tip I thought I remembered 😂
Crazy how i just looking at completely redoing my SE alerts and OBS settings and stuff and i refresh YT to see this LOL (i already know how to do most things but always like to get a refresher in case theres new trends) You are definitely the lifesaver on this stuff.
I just wana thank you that how much you bring to the community and your way of describing and teaching things to newbies like me, hats off to you man and thank you so much, Happy Streaming 💗💗💗
Im very glad you put emphasis on which mic is selected to use. I bought a very nice mic and spent time in the settings making it nice a crisp. Little did I know that all my scenes were using my crappy webcam mic. I went about 1 week with this bad mic which equated to about 30 hours. That is a long time to have a bad mic. As a smaller streamer you won't have the luxury of people giving you feedback while watching, most of the time they just peace out because of quality issues.
during the capturing the game scene when your game canvas is bigger then the work canvas, click on the source of the video and CTRL + F which then will automatically fit to screen. you can see these options under the Edit tab ---> Transform
Right click > transform options were a godsend when I first started out. You can center your sources vertically and horizontally as well as fit gameplay/images to screen with a single click.
Just wanted to say thank you for organizing and creating these videos. This is exactly what I have been looking for but have been unable to find elsewhere in an organized fashion.
This is awesome, thank you for laying it out so cleanly for us noobs! One note - I'm on OBS Studio 28 (newest), and for Mac at least, the Sources menu has changed. "Display Capture" has been moved to the Deprecated submenu; "Game Capture" doesn't exist as a source, but I was able to connect my Elgato Neo as a "Video Capture Device." Maybe this will help someone else. Cheers!
Thanks for always being a good place for accurate and well researched information! You've always told it like it is and that is respectable and keeps me coming back here for any and all information related to streaming or content creation. Keep on keeping on brother! I watched your stream doctor videos years ago and here I am ready to watch the Masterclass just in case there's anything new. CE FTW.
Thank you for this! I'm pretty much thinking I'm going to do a stream and this was extremely helpful! Heading off to watch more of your vids, oh and yes, you got a new subscriber!
Been waiting for a video series like this for a minute! super excited to see what comes next! planning on starting my RUclips journey again after pausing for 7 years and OBS/Stream Decks are intimidating 😅

agreed
Great video. Waiting on episode 2.

As someone that's been using OBS for years, I did not know about the crop trick. I am definitely using that from now on.
Just went back to OBS from Streamlabs ! Will definitely be checking out this masterclass Harris ! Thank you ! Also just wanted to say Royal album from streambeats is my favorite so far. Do you have any instrumental rock stuff on there? Ive only seen stuff with vocals
man im excited for more of this videos there is always new things to learn for sure thanks harris
Not even gonna lie, the double plug for your business was smooth.
Thank you so much for this tutorial! This makes the idea of setting up a stream way less stressful. Cant wait for episode 2

Don't know if I will ever do live streaming but always enjoy a good tutorial
