Phoenix Models VS Gemini Jets - Which makes the better model?

- One of the questions i get asked the most is what model company do i prefer?
Phoenix or Gemini Jets, so i decided to put together a little video with my opinions on the topic, but feel free to let me know what you think!

Bloody hell, I started off with Gemini Jets A380 Emirates and thought it was the best, nice model, nice packaging etc so went and bought the 777-200LR but the wheels don't turn Then when I saw Phoenix models I'm like OH HELL! Theirs are way better! Phoenix all the way.

Gemini jets and Jc wings now share moulds 777 is now better then before but I would still go with Phoenix
Finally someone else shares the same opinion as me! you're right gemini makes good models couple years ago, but now...pheonix and jc wings are doing much better. If you're looking for the 400 scale, go for pheonix , if you like 200, go for jc or gemini, just don't choose the gemini for the 400 scale. Not sure if you guys notice, but the phoenix 400 has a lot more details than others like...it has antennas like the 200 scale and very detail landing gears.
A few words for the sellers, if you want people to buy from you , don't be lazy, take the model out and take a good shot at the actual item rather then using the manufacturer's low res pics. It really can make a difference.
My collection now pretty much only involves phoenix models, but the major bummer is that Gemini Jets is the official supplier to many airlines. Would absolutely pounce on an Emirates, American Airlines (New livery) and British airways Boeing 777-300ER
Yup, am glad they have added the them to the models, gives it that extra bit of realism, what i would like to see next is the landing gear designed to tilt to a point where they will no longer move, so that they can be displayed as if they where rotating (and not free enough to pivot so that the tail sits on the ground). Thanks for the info on the 767/757 mould, and i think the fuselage mould on the 737's is identical, but phoenix has thinner wings and as you said, the rolling gear

You definitely have some very valid points there. Please note that phoenix has recently updated their 777 mould to include antennas. Same goes for A330/340/747 moulds by phoenix. I can back up your arguments about GJ and that their mould is very outdated. Just FYI phoenix shares their 767 and 757 mould with GJ, but they have their own brand new 737 with rolling detailed landing gear.
Totally agree with the Phoenix mold looking much better. What do you think of dragon wings. I know there mold of the 747 looks better to me than the Phoenix and possibly the Gemini as well. But then you have the plastic wings that I'm not sure what to think of on the plastic wings. At first I thought dragon wings must be terrible listening to what others say but the more of them I order the more I like. Their not at all a bad model.
Thanks mate! WHile both manufacturers are pretty much on Par with the paint details, as you can see though their moulds are not equal. In the 1:200 scene however, every manufacturer uses the same mould, the Gemini 200 one (in diecast, resin models are a different mould) They are very detailed, but all feature the same sized engines, the manufacturers havent yet made a properly sized GE90, but you get over it pretty quick as they are great models.
Mate I just took our advice from the beginning and went with Phoenix models. Thanks for that money saving advice!

I think that even though Phoenix models cost more money than gemini jets models it is 100% worth it.
I most certainly prefer the Phoenix molds for the A330, A340 and 777. It costs a bit more for those models but I got two Phoenix 777's recently and almost right after taking them out of the box I preferred them over the Gemini models. I am most certainly willing to pay a bit more for the Phoenix models for my heavy aircraft because I would enjoy them more on my display than the GJ ones.

The only problem with the phoenix 747 mould is it has what is called a duck bill nose, between the cockpit and the nose cone, the mould curves from the cockpit down to the nose cone (Like the hump on a ducks bill) but in reality, the section is almost a straight line from the cockpit to the nose, which is what the GJ 747 mould has, hence why i believe it to be more accurate

I agree that Phoenix is superior to Gemini. Being a Qantas fan , I recently got a Gemini Qantas A330-200. While the quality was fine , one of the horizontal stabilizers was loose and I had to super glue it back on. This is unacceptable. I really wish phoenix would make Qantas A330-200's. I can't wait to get my Qantas a380 from Phoenix! Their A380 model is much better than Gemini's.
Having seen both, that the new phoenix A340 mould certainly beats the gemini mould, so i agree with what you say, GJ need to improve some of their moulds, they are starting to become old in my opinion
Well thanks for that one! Interesting to know what you think about that. Had a chat with someone from ARD today who said that basically all of the models looked the same in the detail. Call me fussy but I want to see pitot tubes and properly detailled doors etc. What about the 1:200 scene? Quite interested in that myself. Bought the 1000th from Emirates and for a friend the 1:200 V Australia one from JC Wings. Before buying through the manufacturers it'd be good to tap on your knowledge as well.
In my opinion, Phoenix models are much better than Gemini Jets beacuse as I said in my opinion I see them much more smooth and aswell I prefer phoenix beacuse in my eyes their box seems much more satisfying.

I think pheonix makes a better 777, a330, a340 mold. I think gemini site is better. Geminijets also makes more ameriican airlines. I think overall gemini jets is better. Also the large fuesulage on gemini 777 is realistic
Got that video coming up! Am actually trying to find out what the aircraft was actually called, i refer to it in the video as the World Liner as i have heard it called the world liner livery, even though the 777-200LR is called the world liner, but ive heard the proto 777-300ER refered to as the World Liner, World Tour and World Ranger aswell, so im trying to find out what it was actually called, otherwise im gonna have too redo the video!
The phoenix mold on the 744 is very similar to the GJ mold, but phoenix A380 mold is ALOT better than the GJ A380 mold
Maybe the case, but its an example of you get what you pay for, most of the times ive found, there will only be a $5-$10 difference between them, worth paying the extra IMO, but in certain cases such as the 744, GJ has the better one
I bought the Qantas 747-400 Gemini jets and the wing section werent even lined up properly and the triangle shape things near the fuselage one side had two triangles and the other had one only and also the landing gear door was crooked also the engines. Sooooooooooo sad
How about herpa? I got a herpa 747-8 and a herpa 787-8. The landing gear on both are really good! And the wings are thin. But i noticed that both have there wings flexed for when their in the air! but there is no groove near the wing section because of the mould.both have realistic moulds.one of them have bay doors.the engines are detailed! You can see the fan blades. I got them in Hawaii. I got both for around 40 us dollars
I have the herpa 747-400 KLM and love it. The new wing desighn on the 747-8 is angled up like the 787 but not as much and I noticed herpa and Gemini both angle them up but it looks like Phoenix didn't bring them up making their new 747-8 look like a fully fueled ground only model at best.
Okay, I have to make a tough decision. I need people to help me decide. I'm going to buy another Gemini 1:40 B787-8 Dreamliner to go with my United one. Which one should i get, Qatar or LOT. Its a really tough choice. I love both liveries. The Qatar on has such a nice gray and maroon color. the LOT one is a beautiful white with navy blue "LOT".Help me decide. Thanks to everyone. I'll check back in 3 days to see. comment and tell me what i should get.

I'm getting an LOT Polish Airlines 787-8, I have to say. I wasn't impressed by the prices of each model even at 1:400. I paid $55 for the model and another $15 for the shipping to Australia. However this model didn't have the glued sections which is really nice!
Yes the prices are getting out of hand i reckon, for a 1:200 metal model, unless its rare an acceptable price is about $100-$120 AUD, and 1:400 i reckon about $30-35
AusAviation149 I received it 2 weeks ago, I realized for the level of detail and precision it should cost around $40, it was practically flawless. All the details were there including the cargo bay doors and antennas. I really recommend you getting the LOT Polish airlines 787!

probably for me phoenix and gemini jets is the best but most of phoenix models has great details than gemini but gemini jets and phoenix is the best for me. :-)

hmm im buying China Southern 777 phoenix because of that video but the information is real. i bought the China southern a330 and the wing section ruins everything
I purchased a Gemini Emirates 777 300 ER model and a Phoenix Boeing 787-8 diecast today. Love both but the plastic stand for the Phoenix broke as soon as we put the plane on it. The planes are amazing but the stand isnt :(

You buy from the distributors such as wafflecollectibles and jetwaymodels and diecastairplanedotcom. The phoenix models website is just a list.

Gemini best for all double aisle and propeller accept for 777 Phoenix better for single aisle and on par with Gemini for a340
Matty D my phoenix 747-8i is still strong still holding on and for some reasons my gemini jet a330's engines broke off while i was just holding my model and looking at the beautiful view of the plane and its landing gear broked but my 747's only problem was only on the gear because it just bent a bit but is soooooo strong unlike the a330 that was wimpy

Gemini jets also do not have much detail on the two back landing gears.
I feel like you are trying to make Gemini Jets look bad. I really like the Gemini Jets models and I am very particular about certain things.

I really like my geminis too but the 777 goes to Phoenix hands down just because of that wing detail he pointed out. Now with the 747 I choose Gemini dragon or big bird

Yeah I think phoenix are better. Gemini winglets are so thick. They screw up on their a330 and a340. I have a Phoenix 332 and a gemini 332, Phoenix wins..

Phoneix do make better quality model. I have 2 787-900 er jets. Both by Gemini and Phoenix. The Phoenix 1 looks more realistic. Dragon wings or Daron,I wouldn't waste my money on them. Daron landing gears look like it's from a kid's toy. Dragon wings engines are unrealistic. I have a China Air model by Dragon Wings.
Why do people think its 787 "800" or "900" its simple 787 *DASH* 8 or 9
I dont like Gemini 777-300ER models because the nose landing gear is innacurate. the suspension/ wheel leg sits behind the nosewheel, instead of being centred like a real 777. For a 777, go with Phoenix, for a 747, definiteley Gemini. Anything else and thats up to you to decide...

I like Gemini Jets models but whenever I buy then I always pay close attention to the wing section. I just bought a BA 747 400, an Emirates 777-300ER and an Antonov An124 and all I did when buyimg the m was check the wing section. They were immaculate ill give Gemini that.
