This is EXACTLY what you said... serves THEE purpose perfectly with trying to explain the rules of the game and scoring! You are so good with this, and by far, the best videos that are clear, concise, not at all boring, fun to watch, gets to the point, and has great camera coverage. GREAT job.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I now have more confidence in doing my job! Keep up the awesome work 👍❤👍❤
Best beginner rule video I have seen..... but you need to address the "even" and "odd" rules on 4.8.6b. In other words it is not always the person that happens to be on the right after a side out that serves first. Somethimes people swap sides during a volley so and forget which side they started on. The person that started the game on the right is designated as the "even" player and always serves first if their teams' score is an even number after a side out. The person that started the game on the left is the "odd" player and always serves first if their teams' score is an odd number after a side out. To be clear - service always begins on the right box - it's just a matter of making sure the right player is serving.
@@thatpickleballguyto be clear and reconfirm what the above person is stating… should we acknowledge which side we are on starting our turn to serve? Example who is Odd (Lefty) and and who is Even (Righty)? And who serves depends on the score aka odd number, then left / odd sided person serves and if the score is even, for example 6, then the right / even sided person serves?
By far the best beginner video I've seen. Your explanation of what you can and can not do in the kitchen is perfect. This is not taught enough by people who teach newbies. I am an Ambassador and been teaching for quite a few years and constantly run into players who don't understand these basic kitchen rules. Thank you for all the videos you provide. All the playing rules are explained in an easy to understand with real videos for better understanding and great smile, this is how PickleBall should be!
This is a great video for understanding the rules. I finally understand who is server one and two and why. I also didn’t know if the ball hits you it’s their point. There is more to learn in this video so it’s it’s definitely worth watching.
I tried for like an hour to find a clearly written explanation of the rules, but couldn't do it. They all seemed to somehow contradict each other or not state things clearly. This video cleared up any confusion I had. Brilliantly done. Thank you for putting this together!

This video does help so much. I want to watch it before I go to play a game until the scoring becomes clear to me. For a beginner learning the game at 77 years old, the scoring makes my head explode!! 🤯
If new to PB just watch this and then go play. My first time was fun but u really need to grasp the serve and scoring so u are not scratching your head in the middle of the game. Great info!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
After watching numerous how to play videos, I find yours exceptionally easy to follow, a couple more times through and I should have it! Thank you, great job!
I play Table Tennis a lot, and I’m playing pickleball for the first time today. This video really helped clear up discrepancies I’ve heard about the kitchen rules and the scoring system. It’s also cool you included information about how pickleball has relations with other sports like tennis and badminton.
New Pickle Ball player here. Thanks for the clear, concise, and enjoyable videos. Will get deeper into them as I get deeper into the game, but this scoring/rules video and the other one I watched are excellent.
You made my night! The confusion on the doubles rule is almost out after watching your video. This is a game I've been sporting for the last 2 months. Your video definitely removes confusion and chaos on the ground. Your video will be a go-to video if there is debate if there is any confusion. Thank you so much for your video!!

So far, the best video! Thank you for the information! You should make a video on pickleball etiquette, such as how to start a game when you first arrive at the courts( placing your paddles on the floor near the net starting from the left side, how to figure out with court is for beginners or advanced, and how you would introduce each other before games or touch paddles after a game. The session lasted 1hr and 30 minutes so for the rest of the time, I had lots of fun playing, especially at the net. I looked at one of your other videos just now- 5 mistakes beginners make. Great video. You explained the rules perfectly. I found out you need to know all the rules before you play. Aaaaand let say it some pickle ball people are not as kind as they believe..... sometimes, sorry. However this was a lovely video and excellently presented. Thank you
Helpful video! Right after the volley at 3:01 though, both his feet landed outside the kitchen. Is the rule not based on the first step you take after hitting the volley?
The rule is not based on the first step, it is based on any step while or after hitting the ball out of the air. Even if you have hit the ball out of the air and both feet are outside of the kitchen, like in the video, but step in the kitchen after the "point is over" it is still a fault
Thanks for this! New subscriber and former tennis player. I'm right handed but about 4 years ago I injured my left shoulder. I haven't played tennis since because I wasn't able to raise my left arm above my head to serve the ball. Trying to get fit again after being inactive since the injury and I was looking for another sport to play that gave me some good active play while not aggravating my shoulder even more. My brother-in-law suggested Pickleball. However, I've been a bit intimidated to play because no one really wants to tell me the rules and you need to know the rules before you play. There is a local club, but many players just don't want to play with noobs (probably, like me with tennis, because they don't want to keep going over the rules with them all the time). However, thanks to this video I feel motivated and confident enough to go out and enjoy this new-found sport. It looks like a lot of fun. Thanks again!
overall this is a great summary of the basic rules of pickleball! in regards to serving positions, here is the actual wording from the 2023 USAPA Rules of Pickleball: "DOUBLES 4.B.6.b. When the team’s score is even (0, 2, 4 ...), the team’s starting server’s correct position is at the right/even serving area. When the team’s score is odd (1, 3, 5...), the starting server’s correct position is at the left/odd court." for this reason pay close attention to everyone's position at the start of the game. in your example, K is the starting server for his team, J is the starting server for his team. after every side out if the score is even for the serving team, K or J will serve first. if the score is odd then W or T serve first.
@@groovypickleball I tried to explain this with my family for like 45 minutes. didn't go well. And not only that I actually had the hardest time comprehending it as well. It just isn't intuitive in my opinion. lol! BUT is helpful once you do fully understand it.
@@thatpickleballguy I feel it bro :) I think pickleball has too many rules and most of them are clear as mud like this one :) - great job covering the core rules concisely!
@ThatPickleballGuy - Kyle Koszuta , @Groovy Pickleball so according to this if your team gets the serve and your score is even then whoever is on the right side serves first if it's odd whoever is on the left side serves first, right? I'm getting back into pickleball and I always used to play according to this rule but it seems like everyone I meet now just says everyone starts on the right side no matter what
I’ve enjoyed and have sent this video to several newbies. Nice job! Love that you convey the enthusiasm for PB we share! 🎉 But if/when you update it, could you fix the graphics? In the first portion, we see that the players on the serving team stay behind the baseline at serving tine and the receiving team is one player back and one player strategically positioned behind the kitchen line. Great! 👏🏻 The player positioning seems to go away at with the explanation of Side Out at approximately 5:02 into the video. That said, viewers still learn the rules of PB in a helpful and entertaining manner. All’s good, Kyle. 😊 But some minor modifications would make it better. 🙏
Great video. Thats for creating such a quality video. Im a lifelong tennis, table tennis, and badminton player. Pickleball is great fun. I've played 3 times now.
Something you should have included which helped me is to mention that at the start of the game the player on the right side will always have an even score when on the right, and the left player will always have an even score when on the left. Opposite if the score is odd. The reason this is helpful is if someone forgets the score you can figure it out again hopefully by the side of the court you are on. I'm sure this has been expressed more simply, but that's it for now. Don't know if stacking messes that up or not though.
I heavily considered this, but came to the conclusion i would have added more confusion because i know exactly what you’re saying. But that took me so long to truly understand. I could be dumb tho lol

Awesome! Glad the video was helpful and helped build some confidence! Keep at it, you've got this!
Great video - thanks! I watched a few as I am introducing some friends to Pickleball for the first time and this is the video I will share with them.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for sharing!
overall this is a great summary of the basic rules of pickleball! in regards to serving positions, here is the actual wording from the 2023 USAPA Rules of Pickleball: "DOUBLES 4.B.6.b.
Yep! Thats correct. But have you ever tried to explain that to someone😂
@@thatpickleballguy yes and it usually sums up as "the person on the right side after the side out, serves first" as you said! hahaha
But if/when you update it, could you fix the graphics? In the first portion, we see that the players on the serving team stay behind the baseline at serving tine and the receiving team is one player back and one player strategically positioned behind the kitchen line. Great! 👏🏻
The player positioning seems to go away at with the explanation of Side Out at approximately 5:02 into the video.
That said, viewers still learn the rules of PB in a helpful and entertaining manner. All’s good, Kyle. 😊 But some minor modifications would make it better. 🙏
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for the feedback!
Started playing yesterday. Don't know rules or scoring yet, so thanks for the video. Fun game. Helps having played tennis.
Glad it helped!
Thanks for clarifying these details so well … and with humor! 😂
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it!
Well done. Very clear explanation of the rules . Looking forward to my first game tomorrow.
Have fun!
Thank you from someone who was very confused before. Great explanation.
Fantastic! Glad it was helpful!
Excellent job..thank you. Graphics made things simple for my simple mind.
thanks for watching. Glad it helped!
Great video. Thats for creating such a quality video. Im a lifelong tennis, table tennis, and badminton player. Pickleball is great fun. I've played 3 times now.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I could be dumb tho lol
wow. coming from a tennis background all my life, I was confused with the pickelball rules. This made it sooooooo much easier.
Glad it helped!
Thank you for the explanation. Just played my first game couple days ago and this helps a lot.
Appreciate the hard work
Awesome! And thanks for the kind words
