    300 pounds is pretty small for a brown bear must have been a pretty young animal that had recently left it’s mom.

    • @ArabellaStarr
      @ArabellaStarr Месяц назад +3

      As I listen to numerous stories, it seems that young bears on their own can be very predatory which indicates some education by momma bear. Lots of people feed bears and moms teach cubs not to be too wary of humans.

    Any bear could go across those bannisters on those decks. Our black bears don't go into total hibernation. We see them sometimes in December on mild days. Our garbage cans are heavy when empty. One will come out of the mountain looking for a meal. No one confronts them. I've a garbage disposal so I don't put much food in the garbage. I've seen people on tv talk about black bears, saying they're not dangerous. Any wild animal you don't know what they might do. One killed my son's 130 pounds dog. That's the weight of some adults.

    Many years ago, when I was about 20 years old, I worked for a summer at a fish cannery in Kodiak Island, Alaska. I slept in a tent by myself in the woods, which was in an uninhabited area a few miles from the center of town. I didn't have gun. And there were no cell phones then. Looking back on that experience, I can't believe how stupid I was.

  • @MPam1619
    @MPam1619 Месяц назад +3

    It's the same stupidity over and over again. Only the names and circumstances differ. You know there are bears around and yet you think so little of your life that you camp, with no protection, and even leave dirty dishes near your tent.

    Why do so many people not listen or forget to adhere to bear hang providence and forget or disregard using iodine. I have never had a bear issue camping in the wilderness and I have never not used Iodine and gotten giardia from lake/river etc. water but I have seen and heard so many stories about a camper taking food in their tent at night and getting attacked or thinking because an area is so extremely remote that they don’t need to use iodine when collecting drinking water and not boiling it and then they get giardia. I’ve seen and heard about multiple people having a terrible physical reaction to getting giardia “beaver fever.”
