Oh wow! My husband and I stayed in this hotel when it was a Howard Johnsons for three nights in September 2001. Had a beer or two at that very pool bar and enjoyed a wonderful conversation with a guy from Scotland. The last day we checked out and went to Magic Kingdom. It was 9/11/01 and the park was evacuated. We drove the backroads back to Tallahassee as we didn't know what was coming next. Very scary memories. Had no idea sitting at the pool bar how the next day the world would change.
That morning of 9/11 we left home for vacation to Panama city beach Florida from Chattanooga and fighter jets were zooming up and down the coast line beaches
It's amazing how ignorant we all were. It was as if people thought their town would be next - because Kissimmee, Florida is a major international financial center and makes sense. And the stuff we didn't know - like how the attacks were completely preventable by the CIA and FBI actually sharing information instead of being in a deadly pissing match.
I worked in a Howard Johnson's Restraunt here in Fresno back in the early 1970's. Everyone but the main manager liked me. He was looking for a man to replace me behind my back. That's against the law these days, but women didn't have the same protections back then. That Howard Johnson Restraunt and motel are long gone now.

This is cool. I love visiting old places myself. I've driven by houses I haven't lived in for 20 or 30 years. I've also driven by old schools I went to years ago, one of which has since closed. It's always a surreal feeling seeing these places, reflecting back, and seeing how much these places and yourself has changed over the years.
Ok, this just got weird. When you mentioned Howard Johnson’s, I realized that we stayed there with our kids in June of 2000. Just pulled out the photo album and confirmed it. If memory serves, they had a couple pools, but the larger one was closed for renovation when we were there. Probably bought a hot dog from you, Adam!
@TheDailyWoo In the late 1980s/early1990s there was a huge store that sold seashells. The place was really massive. Does anyone with local knowledge know where that was located? If so, is the building still there? I wonder if the Mermaid gift shop on 192 might have been the former seashell store. 🐚 192 has seen a lot in the last 20 years.

It's always interesting to revisit your past. Through some of your OC videos, I've been able to do that from at least some 3rd person perspective. As a long time employee of both Angel Stadium and the Convention Center, your visits to those locales are always a blast from the past for me. And when you've explored the same streets of old town Orange that I explored countless times in my youth, I get those goosebumps of nostalgia. I haven't been to an Angel game in 11 years. I haven't been in the Convention Center since my last day of work in 2014. And now that I'm approaching 9 months since I left California, who knows if I'll ever get a chance to explore them again.
That's good you respect the people who are living there. They should turn the hotel 🏨 into apartments for homeless people. It's nice to see 👀 where you used to work at. That's nice of someone to feed the cats 🐈. I 💜 cats 🐈and dogs 🐕.
We stayed there when it was a Howard Johnson’s and I remember when we moved back to Orlando in 2007 we stayed in the hotel next door (Rodeway) as well every weekend while looking for a place to live. The pool at the Rodeway would have “AFRs” from time to time similar to what you brought up and the 2 hotels would partner so there was always a pool to use. I remember it being very cold water. I think water mania was already closed at that time but the abandoned property was still there. Even years after the land was cleared the Lynx bus would announce Water Mania right at the corner of US-192 and Celebration Avenue.

Yup. All of those big Disney resorts put em out of business. Especially after they opened the value resorts. I mean, I’d wanna stay as close to the parks as possible too

That wouldn't be a bad job to have back then. It actually seemed to be pretty fun at times. Too bad someone couldn't have bought it and fixed it up before it got too run down. It still probably could be fixed up and rent the rooms out to people who need a place to live. I'd love to do that for people who were having a hard time. ( if I could afford it ) 😊😉 Thank you Adam for sharing this place where you used to work. 👍
It’s amazing for someone who’s lived most of his life in SoCal to see a property left abandoned like that for any length of time. Land is just too valuable out here. If that hotel had been near Disneyland, it would have been torn down, rezoned, and there’d be condos there by now.
It should soon... The west end of the 192 has been completely renovated or is just brand new since that was the last area to get built out.. Slowly they're renovating in an easterly direction... It's sad that a lot of these former motels that are still 'operative' have become homes to families, the school buses pick the kids up there in the mornings. I moved from the UK to Kissimmee Florida in 93' I remember a lot of the before, there's constantly so much change but for the locals... A lot of the change, whilst its def an improvement the prices are out of a lot of local families annual income.

hello Adam! haven't watched any of your stuff in literally months! this is a very cool video to "come back to". Fun and very much like the older stuff you used to post. :)
There's something so eerie about seeing abandoned places like hotels, shopping malls, etc. Like, these are normal, every day places folks use to go to, only to be left behind and forgotten.
My family once stayed in that same hotel in the late 90s while frequently the theme parks. I think it was a Howard Johnson at that time. I had no idea you worked there ha
I remember staying at a lot of those hotels on 192 beginning in the early 1980’s. Disney basically shut them down and then their prices skyrocketed, not to mention adding parking charges and eliminating most of the benefits that people USED to have at the Disney resorts. It might be time to reinvent in hotels.
Problem is, is that Disney hold a monopoly. You could restart some of these hotels/motels at a pretty steep cost of renovations etc and then sooner or later the prices in the Disney parks would start becoming more attractive. Its pretty brutal but I guess that's how these big companies survive so well
Oooh yeah!! Finally some non theme park videos!! Been waiting a while, was hopeful when you announced you were going to slow down on theme parks before summer
I routinely peed in the pool as a kid, and sometimes as an adult and can tell you that the myth that there will be a cloud of blue/green around you is 100% busted.

Before the Disney value resorts that area was busier
Great Video! It’s amazing how quickly nature retakes abandoned property in Florida.
I miss you doing this type of content old school is cool
Sitting there all day listening to others talk about all their fun times at the parks had be pretty dull and yet inspiring at the same time. Probably made you desperate to go back!
I appreciate you not using foul language and not being a drunkard. The Lord bless you sir.
Awesome Adam
Miss these xplores been awhile..😃🇨🇦
I was just telling a co-worker about tour channel today. Was talking about the closed down businesses in south Orlando/Kissimmee area. Me being a central florida native it’s my duty to spread the love of this channel. You are a RUclips OG and an American treasure, my friend.
Yes!!! Old school vibe feels today 🥰
Great seeing you doing an abandoned explore again...I’ve been following you for years and always appreciated your work ✌🏻
Thank you Adam, this was awesome, old school ATW
Adam. It was so refreshing to see you return to your roots. Thank you for a great vlog and learning more about your personal history.
Let’s see a photo of you when you worked there!
who the fuck takes pictures at work man lol
HEY, ADAM THE WOO
YEAH, that was a long time ago but it's pretty cool to reminisce and remember about the old times we had in our life's and our old job, friends, and how we spent our time OK another great video I really appreciate and enjoyed this one take care stay safe God bless and Will see you on the next adventure
@@davidmag808 people who do adult film,
Was hoping Jason or Michael would be lurking in the pump room. Lol
@@davidmag808 was just a comment David. Similar to how Adam shows photos of movie scenes then and after. Would be cool to see a photo before. No need for the foul language. 😀
I haven’t had that much anxiety watching one of your videos in a very long time Adam. I’m glad you weren’t accosted in the making of this video.
I wasn’t going to comment but you went old school on us! You checked out an abandon place and you checked the hose for water! Just like back in the day in videos. Good times! Thank woo!
Very cool 😎 experience to go back to old haunts, stomping grounds, places of previous employment, ect., years or even decades later if only to relive old memories and experiences of days gone by. Thanks for taking us 😔 along.
I LOLd at the “beehive of activity”. Touché
Driving down 192 this past weekend with my own memories. So glad I came across this!
YES! Old School Adam The Woo! From the opening "Shall you" to the water faucet, this video had it all. Just missing the opening theme song. Thank you for this!! :D
These are the type of videos that got me to watch your channel in the first place. I love hearing the back story of all the places I have driven by in all the years of coming down there from PA.
Oh yeah, that hit the spot. More abandoned malarkey, please. 🙏👍
Thought Adam wasn’t doing abandoned videos anymore… but he did mention doing videos about his old workplaces.
This entertaining video brought to you by loopholes! Love it!
It really is disgusting how the buildings are not torn down and just allowed to rot. What a blight on the neighborhood! SAD! 😔
That, unfortunately, is what goes on in a lot of the United States.
Sad to see that land going to waste! I hate seeing properties falling into disarray like that. Glad you got to reminisce though 💖🏴
i miss the abandoned videos glad your doing one again
Thank you for showing the world a side of Central Florida most vacationers don't know exist. Stay safe though, the people living there are methed out.
I was expecting zombies to come out of those hotel rooms...it did look creepy. It's nice to document a part of your past, as one day it will be torn down. Looking forward to more spooky sites. Thanks Woo!
I was thinking the same thing. Zombies are going to eat Adam.
Yes, he was brave to walk around there. I wouldn't do it.
Oh wow thanks for doing this video Adam reminds me of the days i would sit and binge watch your original channel and all the abandoned places you would visit.
Throwback! Nice. Remember ‘Gary’s Duck Inn’? Great place to feed the catfish after enjoying a family meal while on vacation in Central Florida.
I absolutely love abandoned places and miss you visiting abandonments great video as always
Love the throwback exploring vids man! Pepper them in more please sir.
hello Adam! haven't watched any of your stuff in literally months! this is a very cool video to "come back to". Fun and very much like the older stuff you used to post. :)
I kept waiting for a "jump scare" during this tour. Wow
Happy to see you going back to your original video content that we all love to watch
Adam you should buy this with some investors and make it great again!
Thumbs up to the video AND the lovely person who feeds the stray cats...
Scary place ,must've been fun for a young Adam working there in its heyday tho;another great video love from Scotland ATW.x
Yep spent a lot of time by that pool
@@TheDailyWoo ....@32:52 hidden mickey. ...have a great day☺
The amazing thing to me is how quickly the buildings fall into disrepair.
As you said 20 years ago this place was hoping.
Finally Adam goes back to his roots.
You went on an adventure, and didn't even ask my mom!!! Love it!
Yeah definitely a scare tactic , basically owning and maintaining a pool for a small time you'd know it's total BS LOL
