100%. Though, the rule of cool can override bad research. Jurassic Park is a great example, both for the Velociraptor (because that is to cool of a name to not use on the wrong dinosaur) and for the fact the dinosaurs didn't have feathers. That is one of the only things good about Jurassic World, in that they retroactively explained it as a cocktail of DNA used to make each dinosaur. As for topics that are difficult to write, there is hacking. It's why I think NCIS's two people typing on the keyboard to stop a hacker was moronic, but for some reason enjoy the apartment complexes of data in the computer of Hackers.
Hacking is a great example! You always see this green monitor (as if they're still using Hercules monitors from the 80s) that says "access granted" when they bang on a few keys after a while.
If you don’t research a city and reference it wrong readers will come for you. I don’t like research but it’s like you said research how it works to add to the book no need to do hours and hours of research
It's no wonder why a lot of authors will create a fictitious town in a real State. sometimes, they just want to total control and don't want to worry about the details.
Do you like research (haha)?

Research is great, apart from having to do the research...
Some I enjoy, some it feels like school work - I admit!
@@authorjmceli my trick is to read stuff I'm interested in and then write related things without needing to research 😎
