I was 17 watching this video now 6years later. The world was so much better back then. The motovlogging community was pumping
Same but now I have my own fz
Your dad is a good camera man.
I love how your dad asks important questions, we need more of him
jake you remind me of a guy i worked with in a small engine shop. he always had some crazy trick to get difficult things done quickly. absolutely love these garage videos because youre actually a mechanic and its neat to learn things
Bit of a longer one but there was a lot to do. Doing a bar swap like this is time consuming. Lots of stuff you want to get right and its not really a bolt in part.
Jake TheGardenSnake Love videos like this, gives idea and advice on mods/little tricks!
This has helped me out a bit as im changing the bars to my next bike. This is much appreciated
Jake TheGardenSnake why didn't you use the RCS stunt clutch? I think thats what it's called, you had it on the supermoto
Jake TheGardenSnake what about a rsc or handbrake Don't forget cage and sub cage
Jake TheGardenSnake Thanks so much I just got mirrors for my pro taper bars and I have been searching for those expanding bolts after discovering they don't fit. Perfect timing for a save.
Shoutout to your Dad for filming! BSOS is probably the most relateable series to most out there. Not everyone is stretching a ruckus or turning a harley into a flat tracker.
Your dad being in this was actually a pretty cool thing
I got these bars for my MT 07, and they feel amazing... so much more feel and flickablity in corners. Also being wider, they make the mirrors work 1000000x better
How comfortable is the position now? What's your height?
"Is that one of those Diesel douches that are always driving around with the tow mirrors out?" " Nope It's Jake one his FZ-07 with his wide ass bars."
Jk thanks for the video. It looks good.
+madmatt41187 haha they are pretty out there
Scraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaape both cars lane splitting.
Thank you for saving my ears with the grinder.
lol you noticed that
Yeah lol. I was waiting for my ears to blow out. But they didnt. xD thanks.
you didnt do it with the air compressor though :(
That's awesome buddy, I love dirt bike bars on it. I'm gunna do that to the fz09 I'm getting.
Your getting an fz09 nice I've been waiting to find out
motomax Can't wait to see you on a fz.
Love these type of videos. As an engineer and bike lover as well you get so much information and new knowledge from these. Get to learn the tips and tricks from the pros. Keep up the good work. Love it
Get a REAL heat gun. Real Heat Gun. REAL. FUCKING HARLEY
snowcat hi 😂
Your dad is cool asf. Definitely enjoy these longer videos, keep em going
Nice try, Jake, but this isn't a legitimate build series until I see a Teespring link for it.
lol
The compressed air trick is neat. I've always used hairspray as it stays wet while you slide the grip on and dries to hold it in place.
Thank u for lowering the volume while you grinded the lever. ❤
big props on cranking the sound down for us at the loud parts. it's the little things.
Hey Jake, just a heads up with some of those cheap levers, the front brake lever on my GSXR had a copper bushing with a dimple in it to engage the master cylinder. That brass/copper piece was able to rotate so that the dimple wasn't sitting correctly and was applying slight front brake pressure leading to locking the whole front wheel up at 40mph. Just a heads up!
+LazyWaffleman these don't have that but thanks for the heads up
Saving to buy the 2021 one hopefully in 2 months🙏
Hahahahaha! That Tim Kreitz intro! Straight off the EN187 live stream last night. GENIUS!
Tim Kreitz Adventures its like a real life musician made that song
Hahaha. Almost. ;-)
God damn these vids make these mods seem so much more simple than the random people I see making mod guides on youtube! Keep 'em comin Jake!
I am the only wishing that Jake and his father would come over do have their way with our bikes too?
WoodysGamertag glad you got back into bikes again. I've been a sub since 2011
+WoodysGamertag its best my Dad holds the camera lol. He's not much into mechanic work. He does like wood work!
The amount of care you take putting all those little things on is proof that you care for your bikes. So to hell with the light break in squad; you know what you're doing!
I reckon it looks mad better with the mx bars.
I have some Carmichael bars sitting here waiting for spring. I'm glad I started watching your videos again. this has given me some great information to use when I do my bar swap.
Wedge a screw driver between the bar and the grip then spray wd40 inside, and twist the grip off.
I do it that way too
I use hairspray or bicycle puncture repair glue.
at first I wasn't sure about the FZ-07 headlight but it's growing on me now, especially with the turn signals you have now.
as for those mirrors, I bought one for my old bike and the sun turned the black orange. good news my old bike had a shit load of orange accents anyway and I loved it. never had it come loose. in fact it was a pain to adjust sometimes haha
Notification squad!!!!
ViperRides150 XD sup
lads
ViperRides150 XD sup 👌👌
ViperRides150 XD he'll ya
ViperRides150 XD 69 lykes heh
That epic ass dad joke tho lmfaoooo 10/10 also love how much you cover in one video, basically almost done over the bike short of pulling the engine and painting i guess wheels too but dannng we aint even on eps 3 of the bolt shit on series and you done so much already, awesome this is why i love jake!
+TriniRogue lol my dad is such a dad with dad jokes. I still have lots of vids I can make for this series. I cover a lot in them but that's cuz I like to do things in stages.
Anyone else hear the scream at 13:35?
John Edwards lmao cant tell if ur kidding, but it was the tire😂
Brennan&aBike haha it seriously sounds like someone shouting aaaaaaaaaaaaaah
the tire rubbing on floor
John Edwards lol it sounds like someone getting banged
😂omg😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
"It's good , it's good" :) its great man great . You have the best taste of putting the things together.
yamaha : "Yo dawg I heard you like grips. So we put a better grip on your grip so you can grip while you grip"
I love your Build series Jake.. It's the more technically, detailed and informative build from a motovlogger I've seen..
You should've got the bars in blue just to trigger people
+Horsepower Garage I would have too. Like the green clutch leaver on the Wr450sm. But that bar only comes in black.
Excellent video, Jake. Having your dad run the camera really helped. I hate the self-made video projects trying to wrench single-handedly and the camera is never focused or lit properly. Yours was great! 👌😜👍🏍
Damn the intro got me pregnant
hey someone who actually knows what they are doing. refreshing. hasn't been a motovlog guy doing good instructionals since fireguy stopped doing them.
haha i just fitted pro tapers to the grom and realised my bar end mirrors dont fit in the motox bars and then i watched this haha it was meant to be lol
lol good timing
Just a tip, something I learned in BMX, hairspray works wonders for grips. It holds enough to keep em on but isn't a gigantic mess when trying to replace them.
Some of you may remember me asking if I should get the DRZ400SM or FZ07 as first bike, but now I got more options on the table. It'll be my very first bike but I will take the safety classes. Most of my rides will be around town, and 30min highway ride every weekend.
1. FZ07
2.DRZ400SM
3. 600cc Supersport (R6 or GSXR 600)
4. 2017 SV650
5. 2017 Ninja 650
Which is best?
Reading this gave me fond memories of when I was first getting into riding. I started on a Ninja 650 and it was a great starting bike. They're very tame throughout the RPMs but you can still have fun on it. 600s are very tame under 6-7k so if you think you're mature enough to take it easy for a bit and get your bearings on riding before you hit high RPM then I would say go for one of the 600s. R6s are very aggressively seated and GSXRs seem to be fairly comfortable. I have to request you consider a 636 because that's one of my all time favorite bikes and out of my bikes it's the one I look forward to riding most. That being said, I desperately want to build a super Moto and buy one of the FZ series bikes. I would say a DRZ is he most tame bike on the list but you could probably have the most fun on it. The FZs are really torquey and wheelie machines. Without knowing who you are and what you are like, I would recommend one of the 650cc options you have.
FruityLittleBoy Thanks for the advice. And with the 600cc supersports I don't know if I could handle it tbh Lol. I think just to be safe I probably won't go with one of them. And about the 636, that or the GSXR 750 will definitely be my 2nd bike if I choose not to get a 600cc supersport as my first. And the ninja 650 caught my attention mainly because it got new updates for this year. It only weights 420lbs now and more electronics and better looks, an all around better bike now. But my only problem with it is that I don't see it being able to do wheelies and hoon around in. Well I know it probably can do wheelie but not like some of the other bikes in named. And for the drz, it would definitely be the most fun, and it can go off road, AND if I drop it I won't be worried but my main problem with it is lack of highway performance. So all in all, the FZ07 is leading in my choices so far. Hopefully a dealer would let me test ride it around parking lot so I can test the throttle out since I heard it's so sensitive.
FruityLittleBoy And just curious, how long do you think it would take me to get used to a 600cc supersport or keep it under the revs if I did choose one? I know everyone's different but do you have a rough estimate?
The FZ07 (MT07 to me) is probably a good starter if you go big straight off, the sports bikes are quite a lot more powerful. I myself started only a few months back and am glad to start on a 125, it should give me some good experience for when I go for my full licence and save me a lot of money too over time.
UK licencing laws are a bit crazy for bikers these days, I am more than old enough to get my full licence but youngsters have to do the test multiple times at different ages or wait until they are 24 or over to get a full unrestricted licence.
I'd vote for an SV650. Quite fun and will get you places. You'll probably out grow it within 2 years and want something with a bit more oomph. The SM route is pure fun. Longer distances are doable but can be a pain because of the upright position and big single thumpers are not built for distance. The FZ07(mt-07) has been VERY highly regarded, engine, ride, fun factor, speed, commuting ect with everyone I've spoken to and I'm looking to get one my self to replace my current ride. Can't comment on the super sports or the ninja but my friend went from a 400 bobtail convert to a 600 gixxer for a second bike and fucking loved it. He cleaned it at least twice a week.
I’ve watched this video several times now because I want to get an mt07 in a few months and that’s the first time I noticed the bee. My mind is blown.
where can I buy that intro .....sounds like the famous singer Freeriding
Moto Steve it's Tim he's great and does moto clogs and he also has a fz-07
that's right ...lol...joyride ...it was Tim...my bad
Dude, I've been wanting to put Carmichael bars on my FZ-07 and change the turn signals but thought I was being picky, now you bought one and did all of that and I need to. I did the r6 throttle tube a while back and it was great, no regrets.
+Wasted_Fiend well now you see how it looks. What else were you planning?
Jake TheGardenSnake I took the rear footpegs off but can't find a seat cowl to match. I don't know how any ebay ones look and the OEM one doesn't come in the gloss black to match my bike
turbo it since its in the thumbnail
Hello past me, I have this bike, and I put on Pro Taper bars, FTecu and quickshifter, tucked plate. bar ends soon to come
21:35 “I’ve decided if that happens to me I’m gonna full this fuckin thing with j-b weld”😂😂I lost it right there J-b weld always comin I’m with the save
Still need the Amazon fucking bolt on exhaust
Just low sided my FZ this past weekend, have to replace a lot of these things. Thanks to your video, I ordered a lot of the same parts. Putting them on this week!
Great tips Jake :D ....... Im looking forward to seeing more :) ......... You know some fancy shit :D
+JoeGo101 the fancy shit series
A build series video that is entertaining AND very informative?! Great job, keep it up Jake!
why can't I watch it?
best of same
TwinTurbo Hybrid just restart the app
I know you said just put a litttttle bit of grease under the throttle tube, but I found that over time, even that little bit of grease will collect fine dust and dirt and become a sticky paste, which will make your throttle feel 'sticky' over time. I found either keeping it totally dry works, or a very very fine Teflon coat/spray works best!
Other than that, fantastic and super informative video!
Nice garrrryy
Got to admit your "Bold shit on" build is the best how to work on your bike video out there. You're packing a ton of great tips for folks . Keep it coming dude ;-)
+DeathsStalkerRVT thanks
lol a 6 pack or heroin. i personally pefer some Marijuana with a friend but then its take twice as long as were double or 4x check everything we do first.
+angel banderas lol I could see that
Jake TheGardenSnake either we take to long and do it right or its completely back ward and we fucked up. either way man keep up the videos. your my favorite. moto vlogger.
Jake had me dying through pretty much this whole video. "you wanna make you you put these on the shop floor and kick them with your foot so you never find them again" "these things say up on them. I'm not gonna explain it anymore" and then at the end when he was just like "worrrd" lolol
Looks good and whole lot better than stock! Just got new bars/grips for the Bolt as well, perfect timing for the video. Great video as always.
+Yamaha ZED you could do a bolt bolt shit on series
haha brilliant
You just might be a real mechaneck after all... LoL, J/k. I really like your style in the shop, a lot of people I've watched left me cringing and unable to come back. However this is so real, down to earth, plus informative and funny. \m/
This is my favorite of all the "build" series because it's actually informative and gives you what you need. you did the bars proper, when I did mine i just cut the bits of plastic although my sv's a piece of shit so yeah, poor bike.
+MeechyMoto thanks
Props to your dad for the great camera work.
quick tip: use isopropyl alcohol to remove stock grips, they slide off beautifully with a little twisting and the alcohol dries so fast it makes a good lubricant to get the new grips back on unless you want to use glue.
Rock on with dad! You're a lucky guy to have him by your side while you do what you love!
+Frank S I've got a great family
Steel braided brake lines. That's one thing you never think you need until you figure out how much of a difference it makes! Worth every penny. Kinda want to see what your view is on them, can't wait lol
That bar setup looks so much better, might have to do that if i end up getting an FZ-07
Dude, the tape idea for marking where to drill the holes for the controls...stupid genius (is that even a thing?!) I could have used that a few times now, lol. Great vid Jake 👍😎
Man, i like these videos! Watched every minute of it! Very helpful and straight to the point
Nice one. I didn't know the electric tape trick for the switch gear knob yet. Thanks for that.
Finally Installed the same bar and grips, I love it thanks Jake, can't wait for the R6 tube
At 17:38 jake incorporates a different genre of cinematography... 😂
It's good to see you a hell of a lot happier now! lovin these vids mate.
Jake another good way to put motocross grips on is wrap the bar end in electrical tape to make the bigger and stretch the grips on. When you have to change them take a can of wd40 and jam the tube down them and spray they pop right off.
jake pour a little rubbing alcohol (not even a cap full) into the grip, shake it around with your hand covering the end a second, it should slide on real easy, BUT LET IT EVAPORATE A DAY!!! this is how i do it on my bmx grips, no glues, nothing else, they mold mold on real well once the alcohol evaporates
Great tips for mounting new handlebars! Thought it would be a pain in the ass to install a new set on my FZ 09 but now looks doable. Love the how to content. Thanks!
I used to work at a bicycle shop and we used hair spray on the grips. when it's wet it's kinda slick and when it dries it gets tacky and sticks the grips to the bars, but it's not a pain in the ass to get them off
man almost all the channels I follow I have been unsubscribed from but I'm fixing that keep up the videos man and find that positive place on life stop worrying about what other people say
Can't wait to see maintenance videos from you, Jake! Things like spark plugs and valve adjustment.
Great content Jake. These new BSOS videos are excellent.
Enjoyed the video man, it was cool to see your interactions with your dad, good shit.
+Jason S he's a good guy
You truly make great how to videos. Your knowledge seeps through so well. Loved the whole thing, Jake!!
Cant wait for an exhaust on this bike! haha awesome video jake and very informational so thank you
Absolutely love your bsob series. Was looking to get a mt/fz 07 as my first bike and these videos have confirmed it for me. Thank you
I had pillow tops on the DR when I rode down. That trip finished them off fast, I've since started using those gel dual sport grips and I find them fantastic.
Love the custom intro Jake! Love those grips & the advice on this stuff.
Best series on youtube, probably best channel too
Yo bruh, just was doing the washer trick so I was watching this... Dishwashing soap is amazing to put on grips, dries in like five minutes and makes it stickier than wd-40. Trick from an old head! Thx for the FZ vids.
I love that you do it all in one video this is amazing keep up the good work jake awesome series.
Awesome vid Jake. Love the new bars and the safety wire instead of glue was new to me. So thanks for the lesson
Nice!! I ordered a quick turn throttle for my CBR 600 a few days ago, can't wait to try it out! I bet it makes a big difference.
Did it?
ngl the r6 tube sounds tempting !!!! I just got the same fz-07 you got there and ordered a carmichael bend yesterday, thinking of wrapping it to matte black with those neon yellow wheels on it it would look sick
"Metric makes so much more sense" Jake i freaking love you
I love Jake's dad's joke about boring I actually laughed my ass off
+Jake Martin 😂
I'm trying to decide between the Ducati Monster 797 and the FZ-07. I've owned many bikes over the years all Japanese and Yamaha was by far superior at least to me. I'm not sure if the Monster will be as easy as the Yamaha to upgrade but I'm pretty sure the cost will be much higher. This guys helping me make up my mind
Ive been planning on getting an fz07 in spring and it's so perfect that you got one. I love watching these and I can't wait to see what exhaust you go with
I like these videos! It's another side of jake that I haven't seen. Their also educational
This was the best intro ever
I had those same mirrors and they worked fine untill about 120 mph and then they would blow out of adjustment. I just carefully center punched the socket the ball rides in to give it more residence and it worked well . Ride on
Love the longer video jake!!!! I'm excited to see how you do the steel braided brake lines!!! And i'm about to go test ride an FZ07 soon (maybe buy one!) because i love yours so much!!
the bike is coming along nicely. cant wait to see what else will you do with it!
hi, I would like to know the washers you put in the handlebar plate to prevent movement, what size are they? Thank you
