For convenience, on those k&n filters, i like to have two. This allows one to properly clean, dry, and soak one while the other is used in the bike. Thus reducing any missed ride time 👍🏻😁
Yeah, because the intro is a waste of time unless you want to watch a guy twirling around on a roller seat and assembling a new roller seat. Maybe it's a plot to rack up more viewer time - I almost stopped watching, and I'm sure his stats show the drop-off.
First episode of the XR series released 9 months ago... Jaaakeee also for the title all CP2 based bikes are: MT07, XSR700, Tenere 700, Tracer 700 and all their special models
So whenever I say I wish I had the energy of a little kid this is what I mean, like jake literally looks like a man child spinning around crazy in a shop chair. I love it. 😂
To get rid of the bubbles in the cooling system you need to leave the cap of, so that the bubble can Rise to the top. Otherwise it Will stay in the same place because of the pressure. Without the cap the fluid can flow freely and take the bubbles to the top where it leaves the system. You probably knew that but just making sure👍
im glad you decided have to never ride the XR650r. it looks better in the shop as a display bike anyways. dont wanna get it dirty now do we? /s just having a goof. love ya jake. :P
you prolly dont give a shit but does anybody know a tool to get back into an Instagram account?? I was dumb forgot the login password. I love any tricks you can give me!
O test rode mt 07 other day was bloody horrible . All loose n cheap feeling couldnt live with the lack of build quality. Ended up getting gsxr 750 and stoked i did so crisp n smooth n fast hahahaha
Your manual should say, but those things really don't need changed that often. Unless you're doing serious miles every 2-3 years would be more than fine.
You know, they say if you're going to pre-fill an oil filter you should do it from the outside holes so it filters the oil before sending it into the engine (filter new oil... yep apparently, sometimes plastic/foil?).
So you also filter the new oil that gets poured in to the engine directly which is way more than what you can pour into the filter. Seems like bs to me
Hey Holmes, magnificent show and tell! Hard to believe how easy it is to get to your servicing needs compared to my CBF1000 fa-c! Greetings from sunny Wales! Stay lucky
Jake - great video, would love a valve adjustment video, I have planned it out, read the manuals and have done all the other work on my bike but it would be so useful to see it on video before i do it myself :)
just remember with any K&N style filter, you will never get it as red as it was from the factory. If you add enough oil to make it as red as it was from the factory, it will leak out everywhere.. (ask me how I know) Jake, did you gap your plugs to stock specs before installing them? That looked really open.
Not much tuning going on here lol, that's an old school term for carbbed engines, as you would tune the carbs while doing maintenance. I guess you could say a performance fitter is tuning, but I'd say upgrading/modifying myself lol, for these bikes tuning is flashing or remapping the ECU to me 😎👌
I personally go for Motul 300v 10w30, its green and smells like apples, and yes you do need to change it about 2k earlier but god your bike will run bitchin smooth
For a "tune up" series it's missing pretty much everything on tuning the motorcycle to the rider, i.e. setting up the handlebars, positioning the shifter, the break pedal, front break and clutch controls as well as rear shocker. Mirrors can be forgiven as it's something taught on the basic courses, fork shockers as well as these aren't adjustable on stock MT-07 (but fork oil of different viscosity can be used to improve performance).
How often should you change spark plugs?Manual says 8000 miles.I did them at 8000 and 16000,Seems they should last longer than that.I paid the dealer to do my valves.I did them when I was younger but I'm old and lazy now.
Me: sees that Jake uploads and expects it to be the xr reveal Jake: WELCOME TO THE FIRST RIDE OF THE SHOP CHAIR Me: "mad but okay because of the memes"
But the old shop chair is a Craftsman, so can't you take it to Lowes/ACE/wherever and just get a new one because of lifetime warranty? Or do they not have the warranty on non-tools?
Jake!! Which ecu image on FTecu did you use for your fz07? Did you get a custom map or power commander import? I think my bike is running lean as well with the filter upgrade and my yoshi
JAKE, I HAVE A 2018 MT07. I LIKE SERVICING MY OWN BIKES. JUST REPLACED OEM BRAKES WITH DOUBLE H SINTERED PADS. NOW I AM TRYING TO REPLACE THE SPARK PLUGS. HOWEVER WHEN I REMOVED THE SPARK PLUGS COILS AND INSERT THE 14MM DEEP SOCKET IT WON'T CATCH/GRIP THE NUT ON EITHER SPARK PLUGS. I LOOKED DOWN THE WELL AND IT APPEARS TO HAVE AN SHIELD THAT PREVENTS THE SOCKET FROM REACHING THE NUT. ANY SUGGESTIONS? I'VE CHANGED PLENTY OF PLUGS IN CARS AND IN MY R3 BEFORE WITH NOT PROBLEM. ANY ADVICE FROM YOU OR OTHERS WOULD BE APPRECIATED
Go to your local hardware/autoparts store and get a flex cable 'grabber'. Its a long cable with pinchers on the end thats spring activated to grab stuff. Heres a similar one on Amazon but you can easily find them local www.amazon.com/X-Long-Flex-Cable-Pick-Up-4-Finger-Retriever/dp/B006ZEOXJY/
i can't tell if he was joking... is hand tight really good enough for the filter??? because my manual says to go two full turns after initial gasket contact. which is way more than i can get with my hand.
If you use a K&N type of air filter it’s ok but you are not getting any thing from it let me explain. You are getting more air in the air box that’s true but the bike has EFI so it is only going to use what’s being called for nothing more nothing less. The one thing that helps is more cooler air is being constantly circulating in the box.
I'm 16 and wanting to check my valves on my '11 250SXF ktm. I've watched many vids on how to check valves and i know the general procedure to do it. my dad knows enough about bikes, should I do it or leave it?
Brake fluid change not needed? Wish you were doing one or two vids a week instead of one or two a month. But hey. That's life. We get it. Good luck with the new beeb'n.
Your better half bought you a shop chair. Any woman that buys her man shop tools is a keeper. God bless her.
More FZ videos! I bought my FZ because of your channel. Come on Jake, get it together.
I pretty much did the same. haha
🤦🏼♂️ I was looking for a supermoto... But then I came across jake's channel and now I decided it's gonna be an mt-07 😅
Yup 😅
Rip jake old shop chair you will be missed
I noticed that you don't have an radiator guard on your FZ. You could add that to the list!
Makes it look better and protects the radiator!
Which brand would you recommend?
@@therealrealshocker I would go with an R&G Racing. But there is a lot of them in the market. And a lot of trust worthy brands that sell them.
@@jeduardoslb1 sweet thank you!

Smart man! 👍🏼
3:01 coolant change
5:41 oil change
8:05 air filter change
11:00 spark plug change
11:05 coolant recheck
This is handy 10 months later

jake acts like a 7-year-old about all the small things and that's what makes him stand out from all the other channels and that's the part that i love
I like these maintenance videos, and the builds. Work as an auto mechanic so seeing the motorsports side it makes it feel fun again.
Man, I love it when a new Jake video comes out.
Once every two or three months, like clockwork.

0:50 what's the top speed of the mini fz07 leaning against the shelf?
Probs a solid 15mph if you're going downhill in full tuck
With or without a can of Noss on the back?
I love that colour combo on your mt07. Thanks for the how to.
Congrats on the new baby. Hope everything goes well. I had 2 great babies and now they're 4 and 10 and drive me nuts sometimes.😲
you can go online to amsoil's website and get it shipped to your house
On the k&n filter oil there’s a little tab on the cap and that helps with keeping it on top of the ridge
So whenever I say I wish I had the energy of a little kid this is what I mean, like jake literally looks like a man child spinning around crazy in a shop chair. I love it. 😂
🤣
I can’t wait for more videos! I always wait for your stuff!
Getting to the air filter and plugs is the main reason I may go back to cruisers.
Nobody:
Jake: you caught me one Time I did it multiple times 😂🤣😂
Father’s Day new shop chair present. That’s amazing good wife 👍
Jake does the best unboxing/assembly videos 😂
You made that small maintenance seem like a walk in the park.Good video dude!
Great videos! What was that tool you used to pull out the spark plug?
THANKS for the ending JAKE i missed the explosion lol
Same maintenance I'm going to need to do on my bike.....a thousand miles ago. Gonna miss that squeek.

They get up there with the cap on.
Jake TheGardenSnake not if you follow the Laws of physics😊
For a spark plug job. Do we have to remove the tank ? Or is there another way
I cannot get over the fact that the seat and bed headboard in the background look like a very grumpy potato. Damn. I just cannot unsee it.
Do a giveaway for the old and busted chair! Autographed and all! Lol 😂
It's so beautiful...so glad its back😭

Ah I missed the 07! You need to do some supermoto/offroad videos with it again😂
O test rode mt 07 other day was bloody horrible . All loose n cheap feeling couldnt live with the lack of build quality. Ended up getting gsxr 750 and stoked i did so crisp n smooth n fast hahahaha
How often should you clean the air filter, add coolant, and change the spark plugs?
Your manual should say, but those things really don't need changed that often. Unless you're doing serious miles every 2-3 years would be more than fine.

I didn't ask for this, but I like that you did it.
I rode an mt07 for a whole weekend. Are you proud of me Jake?
Hey Holmes, magnificent show and tell! Hard to believe how easy it is to get to your servicing needs compared to my CBF1000 fa-c! Greetings from sunny Wales! Stay lucky
I love how you put the stand mounts and hyped them up to say "this will make all future mods and repairs easier"... you don't even use it. ;)
Jake - great video, would love a valve adjustment video, I have planned it out, read the manuals and have done all the other work on my bike but it would be so useful to see it on video before i do it myself :)
Yessss!
Why would you fill coolant direct to the radiator rather than the reservoir on the left side of the bike?
10:50 STIGMATA!
Jake is God.
Nice wrench (with the ability to hinge and move from horizontal to vertical turning). Where’d ya buy it
Did you not empty the reservoir on the bottom by the oil filter? (I know it was 9 months ago but jw lol)
Hmmm, makes me wonder what the air filter setup is on the T7.
I’d assume it will be different. The whole fame is different. Who knows since they’ll never release it.
just remember with any K&N style filter, you will never get it as red as it was from the factory. If you add enough oil to make it as red as it was from the factory, it will leak out everywhere.. (ask me how I know)

Dna filters....made in Greece BABYYY...
Hey, I know you just did a maintenance video on the FZ-07 but can you do a maintenance video on the FZ-07
the glass with the engine should be full when it is cold ?
where can you get the washers for the oil drain screw? is there a particular size / name for it?
Pretty sure the seat on that new chair is the same one on my lawn mower.
I can’t find a map for the two brothers S1R AND the DNA air filter.. just the exhaust and stock filter. What do I do?
so touching for an excellent video

More riding on the shop stool than motorcycles!
“First ride on the new shop chair.” 😂😂
Do you remember how many miles the fz had at this service? What year is it? Thanks
What about leads. How often would you suggest to change them ?
whats the socket size for the spark plugs thanks
But the old shop chair is a Craftsman, so can't you take it to Lowes/ACE/wherever and just get a new one because of lifetime warranty? Or do they not have the warranty on non-tools?
The chairs don’t have a warranty 😂
Please need a ride video with the xr650 pleassseee

Maybe my eyes are messing with me but did you accidentally double o-ring that filter? Almost looked like the old o-ring was still on the bike.
Why you no use Sprint filters?
i can't tell if he was joking... is hand tight really good enough for the filter??? because my manual says to go two full turns after initial gasket contact. which is way more than i can get with my hand.
No joking involved . Hand tight is fine but do check it 's still tight after a test ride
@@jonathangriffiths2499 cool, thanks man.

Jake, did you need to fit a power commander or remap the bike when you put the exhaust on? (Usually get a slight flat spot with slip ons)

2:30 most dad sit ever
I put K&N oil on my DNA filter lol, proof in my fitting of the DNA filter vid if you were a non believer :)
You should do a Two stroke build
Video starts @3:00
I want this bike so bad!
Its crap go test ride. Cheap junk
How many miles you got on the fz now? You burn any oil?
Brake fluid change not needed? Wish you were doing one or two vids a week instead of one or two a month. But hey. That's life. We get it. Good luck with the new beeb'n.
Whoa. That takes 15w 40???? Thats what we use in our diesels.
why the air filter have to be THAT annoying to get to :(
How many miles are on your fz Jake. I have about 12k on mine
