yo you forgot about the XJ6 that was after FZ6, FZ8 was not a replacement for the fz6. Also the XJ6 SP looks so damn good
My wife and i recently celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary by buying 2 mt07s to ride a 1200km round trip to melbourne to visit our first grandchild every 6 weeks and lots more adventures. We are so fuckin happy with them. Awesome bikes
Happy for you guys, sounds like my dream life really! :D
Freaking awesome!!!
745.64 miles
That’s dope man
@@Jridesbikes Cheers mate. We actually just got back from a 3500km round trip to visit my eldest son in Queensland (we're Aussies). Bikes were so good. Hardly used the highway at all. Lots of twisty mountainous and coastal roads which is foe what we chose the mt07s for.
I love my MT-07. Started riding in 1978 and this is the most fun bike I have owned in that time. Not the fastest, not the most refined, not the best of the best as far as engineering, but by far the most fun and playful. It has earned a permanent spot in the garage no matter what else comes and goes.
I am in the exact same situation xD love my mt07
Yes been riding since 1992 and this is an excellent addition to sit alongside my 2003 HD lowrider and my 2014 HD streetglide
All of your comments on this bike is super awesome to see I thank you reason I own a '22 MT-07 and it is my 1st bike I'm 39 y/o I don't have the level of years of experience you guys have in bikes models or driving and WOOOOOOWWW this bike I have no regrets what so ever on this bike all you said how playful, light, it is just Super fun to drive. Sometimes I look at the MT-09 SP itching to have that but I think is not even necessary it is enough for day to day to work for anything.👌🏽👍🏽👏🏽💯
Not the most refined...not the best engineering....you're talking about a Japanese bike.
The MT-07 is just a fun do it all bike that responds so well to the rider in my opinion. Anything you want this bike to do, it will do it. It can go fast, it can handle twisties well, wheelies if you want too, mod customize for looks, touring, etc. Also, this bike gets a lot of looks. People absolutely love this bike for many reasons not just one, myself included.
Not sure if they fixed it in later generations but the first gen did not like twisties at all. Replacing the front suspension helped a lot but then it also took away the dirt bike feel of it
A friend of mine mentioned the mt07 and now I am in contemplation about it. Really nothing I can find wrong about it that can’t be fixed aka brakes and suspension. But they still aren’t terrible. So damn it.
Personally I think the MT-07 is really good well rounded bike and that's why I love mine. It doesn't excel at anything. It's decent at everything. Jack of all trades. I use mine as a daily rider, a therapy bike, and after a few comfort mods, a touring bike.
What mods ?
@@omage4209 Mainly a comfort seat and maybe a wind protector. Other than that its pretty comfortable. I had to ride it for a four hour trip and the only complaint was my butt hurting after an hour or two.
Just picked up a 2023 MT07. Absolutely wonderful bike. Paired with a SC Project matte black racing exhaust and the bike is the perfect blend of power and comfort.
Needed to open the video because MT07 is truly the best bike in decade. I rode many bikes and fell in love with it. ❤️
I'm still getting as much joy out of MT07 as I did the day I bought it. I just wonder how many riders use those riding modes other then sport.
+1 👌
2015 FZ-07 was my 1st motorcycle. It was snatchy off idle but gobs of torque. It lead me to a street triple which silky smooth, which led me to 675r and started racing. I have 6x bikes mainly offroad and sumo now. I credit the FZ-07 startimg my obsession with motorcycles.
Just in time for me to debate getting one. Watching your channel helps me decide I NEED motorcycles in my life again and MT is the way for returning and new riders
I bought a 2022 mt-07 this month brand new. Great bike, it’s fun, light, agile, and comfortable with plenty of passing power at highway speeds (best part for me!) It’s my first bike I’ve ever owned and I’m not afraid of it, as I would be a sport bike or a 900cc+ but still have to respect it. Perfect choice to get into motorcycling.
Just got my m1 and considering this or waiting for the hornet if it ever comes. Pretty juiced but first bike is a hard decision
@@CoryFugger If youre in America, then you'd better get something 600cc and above. The amount of power is perfect for a responsible beginner with room for fun. Took me forever to decide on a bike too (settled on the sv650 at first) but didn't hesitate at all to buy the MT07 the very first time I saw it in person.
I was at a dealership that wasn't a Yamaha dealer, but they sold suzuki's. Since this place was my first choice, I asked about the Gsx-8s. They didn't have it. Probably would've rode away with that if they did. But made a call, heard there's an MT07 nearby and I pulled the trigger on it.
I started riding on a 2019 MT07 and transitioned to the 2022 YZF-R7. It still has the lovely pep that made the MT07 so much fun, yet is much better well equipped for a beginner track rider. The R7 taught me so much about riding that the MT wasn't capable of doing in stock form. I truly am a CP2 simp, and I'm okay with that. With the right mods, it can be a pretty spunky bike that can put 600s in their place on tighter tracks.
Outstanding video, editing and script are just perfect. Nice job Yammie and crew. You are the first person I have heard of, to truly deep dive on the MT07. I agree, it has definitely changed the entire direction of the naked bike community. Someone over there at Yamaha is drinking the super excellence Saki and they are passing it around the engineering department. I love what Yamaha is doing, especially about dropping weight off all of their motorcycles. I sat on a brand new MT09 recently in a showroom and that bike literally started talking to me telling me," Come on, you know you want to buy me. You can afford it." Just a magnificently light, well designed and fitted motorcycle. Keep up the great work Yamaha and Yammie.
A RUclipsr named UrgeToRide kind of made this exact video already a year or so ago. Would highly recommend
@@grilla4051 Never heard of him but I'm on my way over there right now to subscribe. Thanks!
Dude what are you talking about, there are literally thousands of videos on this bike on YT 😂 But I totally know what you mean regarding the MT09, I'm having the same problem.
My MT 07 is Dope af. So fun to ride and not just short rides, its a versatile bike with plenty of power. Of course there's always something bigger faster etc.. 👍🏿this bike looks awesome. Hope i influence to ride. Team 22MT07CB🤷🏿♂️
That snarky jab at the yzf 600r thundercat hit deep. It was my first bike which I bought in 2002 and kept it around until 2014. It was crazy dependable and NOTHING ever failed on it for the entire time reaching nearly 100k miles.
I'll confess though for the first five years I always wondered why I didn't just get the R6.
as a rider who's first motorcycle was a FZ16 Fazer , my dream bike will always be the FZ1 Fazer because personally I love the way it looks! its like a semi fairing clad R1 and I love it
I've been riding 35 years, I have 3 bikes currently, and I have (and love) my MT-07.
Suspension upgrades and a couple of modest performance upgrades turn it into a helluva good time. I particularly chose the last model you could get without ABS or any other nannies, on purpose. Love it.
After years of riding my MT07 i still get a surpise now and then at its torque.
Thanks for the vid segments
Love my mt-07 been riding almost a year it’s the best beginner bike in my book . Going keep for ever once i upgrade
I'm so glad you attacked this topic. The 04-07 FZ6 is such a slept on motorcycle. Really paved the way for what we have now from Yamaha!
Thanks papa
I have a 2016 FZ07 (MT07) with 3K miles maintained in like new condition. tt's the best bike I've ever owned. I'd like to try the MT09 as I'd be down for a little more power :)
Currently have an mt 09 and it's a blast, and highly recommend if you like wheelies and comfort!
I got a 2016 FZ07 as my first bike and absolutely fell in love. Later I got hit a drunk driver (whoops) and this year I just got a 2023 KTM Duke 790. There is definitely a price difference but I’ve never felt that happy on a bike, it was a very good upgrade that I’d recommend to everyone
I love my MT07 so much I've put Öhlins on it and basically made it the best motorcycle ever :D awesome vid as always man keep it up 👌
I love my 2022 MT-07, its great at everything I need it to do. Put a full Yoshimura R77 on it and it sounds so good.
The CP2 motor is imo the ultimate streetbike motor for those that enjoy speed limits say 1-70mph or so and a lot of in city riding. It can get up to 120+ but it's slow to get there, but down low at lower speeds the torque and sound with a full system and proper ecu flash is a blast/r6 throttle tube. It's also bulletproof reliable and low maintenance, I kinda wished they would make a Tenere700 but supermoto version with the CP2.
I have the 2022 MT07 and wouldn't want to change it for a honda or susuki!
The looks of the mt07 are just bang on the money.
The only problem about the gs8s is that it weighs 450 lbs. That's pretty damn chonky.
Went from a Duke 390 to an MT-07
Love it
i have a duke 390 and thinking to swithing to mt-07 is it noticeable faster ?
I also did the same. Duke 390 2015 and just 2 years ago went to a mt07 2021. Upright snaked. Took me 5years to upgrade the street bike. Very easy to ride and much better on freeway.
I went from ktm RC 390 same as Duke just race version to mt 07 also best sequence
I’m in America and this is my first bike, loving it so far and it’s honestly super forgiving of my mistakes. I’m not a speed demon but do have to go on the interstate to get to work, so I needed a bike that could eat interstate miles and still be good for a beginner like myself. This bike checked all those things and I bought my bike for a little under 8k
I love my MT-07, Phenomenal bike all around!
Love my mt07, I’m still planning on jumping on a R9 when it releases though. Hoping it comes with all the SP goodness
R9 would be the ultimate street sportbike 😉. I regret trading in my first gen XSR900 for a literbike because it feels like I need to do triple digits to have fun on it, although wind protection and all those electronic goodness of QS up/down and Cruise control are better.
I used to ride an XS2 and I later built a neglected XS 650 and I rode it a while and sold it after I lost my vision. I would have loved an MT07 .
I have a MT-07 and I have to much fun with it everyday. For me to buy a Suzuki 8S, Honda Hornet 750, Aprilia Tuono I would just get a MT-09SP thats it and it would be evemmn more fun everyday as well. Awesome vid.👍🏽👌🏽👏🏽💯
I'm happy my fz8 was finally mentioned 😁😁
I would have bought one new but the stealerships in TX (Family Power sports) are gouging prices
I've got a fz09, and it is fun to ride. Sometimes, on a long ride I wish I'd bought something more comfortable, but then I put it in A mode and crack the throttle and remember why I bought it.
I wanna learn to ride a motorcycle and the MT-07 for some reason always grabs my eye when I see it.
I bought an MT 07 in 15 Best learners bike in oz at the time. I believe it still is. Fun fun fun.
One of my bikes is a 1986,600 radian same engine as the phaser just has a detuned carb set,it's an awesome bike ,I love it.
this is kind of a niche compliment but i think you guys did a really nice job on the thumbnail lol
I adore my SV650 and it does everything I need but if I can ever get over the transformer design I'll def be looking at the MT
Not sure why you would jump from a 650 to a MT07. MT09 makes more sense.
I own both a 2020 SV650 and a 2022 MT-07. They are both a blast to ride and I’m not planning on getting rid of either of them. One thing I like about the MT-07 over the SV650 is that the MT-07 has a better turn radius. One thing I like about the SV650 over the MT-07 is that it feels more planted at Interstate speeds because of it’s weight and better stock suspension. My MT-07 weighs around 390 lbs with the mods I’ve done. I get a lot better gas mileage with my SV650 than my MT-07 also.
aye the MT series looks so damn good !! personally like the full fairing bikes but those got me almost changing my mind HAHAHA
Hopefully getting it after summer 😊
Got my license (the big one, we have a few levels over here) on the MT-07. A very nice bike all around, but can't say I've missed it after getting my CBR1100XX.
I love my mt-07 but it's time for me to try something new. I'm trading it in for an indian scout rogue this summer.
Bought my brand new 2021 MT-07 last year and it was easily the best decision I've ever made. Please don't tell my son.
Ahahahahah legend
Get him one too.
He’d understand.
Correction: The MT07's cross plane crank was not derived from the R1. If anything, the R1 derived its crank from the Yamaha TRX 850 which was produced from the mid 90's on.
Principally, the MT07 engine is a scaled down version of the TRX.
To the best of my knowledge, Yamaha was the first to put the cross plane crank into a production twin. Prior to that, after market kits were apparently available for some makes of motorcycles but were not favoured due to expense.
Would anyone happen to know of either a comfortable replacement seat for a 2021 MT-07 around the $150-$300 range, or a safe sissy bar for one that my 8yr old son could feel safe using?
I got one like 4 weeks ago and I've already put over 1500kms on it. fucking love it
Love my FZ-07. You should add some sound dampening to your recording studio it sounds a bit echo/hollow
Stuck between vmax and mt07/09 what do I do..... I guess the wheelie ability really making 07 look better
i can attest to the chin mount stuff. they shit nice yo
Mt-07 is really good cause you already having that 180 tire mannnn so good
Looking for advise what should i move to from my vitplien 401 next
Loved the review. Now please do the same for the GSX S750. Yes they still sell them...
yeah it's the first bike that caught my attention besides the hypermotard and vulcan 650s
I'm a new rider and I got a Suzuki GSR600 which for me is a TON of fun, I wonder how does the MT07 compares to my 4-cylinder, I have to get my hands on one to give it a try. But the MT09 has my eye for my next bike.
You should go for the 09 mate 👌
@@Brabobiker. Yea.. I've been avoiding giving one a try because I'm afraid I will love it too much :) But at least for now, my 600 is way more than I can handle so I'll stick with it for a little longer.
Yamaha, how hard is it to make the mt07 with radial mount front calipers?
just brought my 23 mt07 home yesterday
Can you guys please tell me that buy an mt07 without ABS is ok for safety ?
Do your giveaways work for Europe? Really wanted to get into one because I've been struggling to earn enough for an R3 for a little over a year now but I'm wondering if your giveaways are limited to the states.
I should of picked the mt 07 back when I traded my beginner bike for an intermediate one. I chose the ninja 650 based solely on price vs looks. It gets put down a lot but I miss that bike.
As a beginner, I absolutely adore my kawasaki z300. And I'll be riding it for ages. But I've always had my eyes on the mt07 for when I'm a more experienced rider.
why are you showing a photo of the super tenere insted of the tenere 700 lol
Oh wow, your pronunciation of Strasbourg and Alsace broke my ears! Regardless, thanks for another great vid!
Papa Yam, come up to washington and ride my R7! Its not a crazy build, but the intake/exhaust/tune setup im running is leaps and bounds better than most out there.
I wanna buy one as my first bike in a couple months 😅 there's one in cyan storm sitting at my local Yamaha dealership
wtf this ending. 😂😂😂😂😂 you were high, no way
how is the MT-07 35kw? is it as good as the regular?
I ordered a new 2023 MT-07, but this weekend I got to test drive the Hornet (drove the MT first and then jumped directly on the cb750). And yeeeeeah, im cancelling the order on the yamaha
The sv650 will always be a staple that should still exist. Everything you want. With being forgiving as well.
Dear Yammie, please make a video about the triumph speed triple 1050R
It's a great bike, I just don't like the looks off. Especially on the face lifted one. You can get used to the new healight, but than again, you shouldn't have to... so I think it's not badnhaving 4 samey bikes from different manufacturers so you can just go with looks.
New rider here just about to go buy his new motorbike for the first time. I’m stuck between getting the xsr700 or MT-07. Guys please help 🙏🏽
Hey can you do a video on the 2003 Honda 954 fireblade
MT 07 or duke 790? Which one should I get… please help!!
Couldn't have asked for a better bike to start on as a beginner. I never ride it these days, but I'll never be able to bring myself to sell it.
How's the power? Is it pretty managable? I was considering an MT03, but conversations elsewhere have me wondering if I should start on something bigger that'll last me longer.
Yamaha should build a small super light cruiser for this engine to destroy the Vulcan S, Shadows, Super Meteor, CTX700, etc. Make it look super cool and be comfortable.
Max load weight is a bit sh*t for 2up touring... even on the Tracer 7. Other than that - frickin' love it!
Yamaha Mt-07 is the king of beginner bikes.
disagree. i have one and the torque will get noobies in trouble. would definitely recommend something less torquey as a beginner bike with no experience.
@@deo531 disagree. It’s easy to handle.
It fits that magical place where n00bs and graybeards both love it.
Can't even find one at any dealers in my area
I don't understand when manufacturers go with different names for the same bike in different regions. They also tend to do this with things like TVs at times and, unless the specs are actually different, it's just so confusing.
is it good for really bad roads?
Well rounded bike but I would take a 790 or 890 Duke over it anyway and twice on Sunday.
Yes, there is a price difference but it is justified imho.
Actually considering jumping back up to bigger bikes and grabbing an 890R.
Thought about a 1290 Evo but meh.
Had a previous gen SD and overkill for the road.
Looking forward to the IRL solar powered oppressor mk2 🤞
How is the wind at highway speeds?
Are there any major differences between 2023 model and older back to 2020 or 2019? Looking to get one
The instrument screen is different and (as mentioned in the vid) the suspension. No major difference.
I passed my full UK licence tests on one, a very forgiving bike that does everything a lot of riders could want.
I didn’t buy one though, I decided I would probably want something else too soon afterwards, so a Triumph Street Triple was a better choice.
good vid. showed a supertenere 1200 instead of a tenere 700 tho hehe
I'm 6 2 190 , climbed on one and though the seat was great, even with risers I felt bunched up. Mind you I'm used to my DR650 with pegs down and bars up, so I'm a bit biased but has any tall rider been able to make these work ?
im 6,3 and feel perfectly fine on my mt-07
@Deo right on, like I said I am used to my very upright DR , did you raise your bars much ?
@@zohanthecat didn’t raise them at all.
Would anyone recommend the mt 07 as a first bike or should i go with the mt03? I've got some experience on dirt bikes but im looking to get my first street bike.
Get the mt 07 or U will regret it
After getting my r6 stolen, I've been with a thirst for bikes. I've been looking at the mt07 and a replacement bike since I'm looking for something more daily friendly. Ugh
Hey yammie. I really want to get into bikes but im afriad im to tall. Im 6ft 6 and so far everyone ive talked to said that im either not going to be able to really ride one or ill have to get into the 1000 Seris bikes. One person said the mt07 could be one that worked but i was curios what you think. Thanks
Haha. Gixxer Brah is about your height and he seems to do just fine.
you should check tracer 700 or tenere 700, if mt 07 doesnt fit you well
Cb750 and gsx8s gonna dominate now
Please make a z900 review!
Of corse Im going to say its the best because i have one. I love the bike.
I still love my MT-07 even the other big 3 come out with better price point..else I wont not trade in my 16's 07 into 21's 07
i start riding at 40year one month ago with a 07!
10:39 anyone know what wind screen that is?
