I love my MT-07. Started riding in 1978 and this is the most fun bike I have owned in that time. Not the fastest, not the most refined, not the best of the best as far as engineering, but by far the most fun and playful. It has earned a permanent spot in the garage no matter what else comes and goes.

The MT-07 is just a fun do it all bike that responds so well to the rider in my opinion. Anything you want this bike to do, it will do it. It can go fast, it can handle twisties well, wheelies if you want too, mod customize for looks, touring, etc. Also, this bike gets a lot of looks. People absolutely love this bike for many reasons not just one, myself included.

    • @deekamikaze
      @deekamikaze Год назад

Not sure if they fixed it in later generations but the first gen did not like twisties at all. Replacing the front suspension helped a lot but then it also took away the dirt bike feel of it

Personally I think the MT-07 is really good well rounded bike and that's why I love mine. It doesn't excel at anything. It's decent at everything. Jack of all trades. I use mine as a daily rider, a therapy bike, and after a few comfort mods, a touring bike.

I bought a 2022 mt-07 this month brand new. Great bike, it’s fun, light, agile, and comfortable with plenty of passing power at highway speeds (best part for me!) It’s my first bike I’ve ever owned and I’m not afraid of it, as I would be a sport bike or a 900cc+ but still have to respect it. Perfect choice to get into motorcycling.

@@CoryFugger If youre in America, then you'd better get something 600cc and above. The amount of power is perfect for a responsible beginner with room for fun. Took me forever to decide on a bike too (settled on the sv650 at first) but didn't hesitate at all to buy the MT07 the very first time I saw it in person.
I was at a dealership that wasn't a Yamaha dealer, but they sold suzuki's. Since this place was my first choice, I asked about the Gsx-8s. They didn't have it. Probably would've rode away with that if they did. But made a call, heard there's an MT07 nearby and I pulled the trigger on it.

I started riding on a 2019 MT07 and transitioned to the 2022 YZF-R7. It still has the lovely pep that made the MT07 so much fun, yet is much better well equipped for a beginner track rider. The R7 taught me so much about riding that the MT wasn't capable of doing in stock form. I truly am a CP2 simp, and I'm okay with that. With the right mods, it can be a pretty spunky bike that can put 600s in their place on tighter tracks.

Outstanding video, editing and script are just perfect. Nice job Yammie and crew. You are the first person I have heard of, to truly deep dive on the MT07. I agree, it has definitely changed the entire direction of the naked bike community. Someone over there at Yamaha is drinking the super excellence Saki and they are passing it around the engineering department. I love what Yamaha is doing, especially about dropping weight off all of their motorcycles. I sat on a brand new MT09 recently in a showroom and that bike literally started talking to me telling me," Come on, you know you want to buy me. You can afford it." Just a magnificently light, well designed and fitted motorcycle. Keep up the great work Yamaha and Yammie.

The CP2 motor is imo the ultimate streetbike motor for those that enjoy speed limits say 1-70mph or so and a lot of in city riding. It can get up to 120+ but it's slow to get there, but down low at lower speeds the torque and sound with a full system and proper ecu flash is a blast/r6 throttle tube. It's also bulletproof reliable and low maintenance, I kinda wished they would make a Tenere700 but supermoto version with the CP2.

One thing I like about the MT-07 over the SV650 is that the MT-07 has a better turn radius. Correction: The MT07's cross plane crank was not derived from the R1. If anything, the R1 derived its crank from the Yamaha TRX 850 which was produced from the mid 90's on.
Principally, the MT07 engine is a scaled down version of the TRX.
To the best of my knowledge, Yamaha was the first to put the cross plane crank into a production twin. Prior to that, after market kits were apparently available for some makes of motorcycles but were not favoured due to expense.

It's a great bike, I just don't like the looks off. Especially on the face lifted one. You can get used to the new healight, but than again, you shouldn't have to... so I think it's not badnhaving 4 samey bikes from different manufacturers so you can just go with looks.

Yamaha should build a small super light cruiser for this engine to destroy the Vulcan S, Shadows, Super Meteor, CTX700, etc. Make it look super cool and be comfortable.

I don't understand when manufacturers go with different names for the same bike in different regions. They also tend to do this with things like TVs at times and, unless the specs are actually different, it's just so confusing.

Well rounded bike but I would take a 790 or 890 Duke over it anyway and twice on Sunday.
Yes, there is a price difference but it is justified imho.
Actually considering jumping back up to bigger bikes and grabbing an 890R.
Thought about a 1290 Evo but meh.
Had a previous gen SD and overkill for the road.

I passed my full UK licence tests on one, a very forgiving bike that does everything a lot of riders could want.
I didn’t buy one though, I decided I would probably want something else too soon afterwards, so a Triumph Street Triple was a better choice.
