  • A lovingly made and highly affordable blended malt from the Thompson brothers in Dornoch, created with the whisky enthusiast in mind. SRV5 aka 'Station Road Vat 5' is married in the European oak vat illustrated (by Yu Kurahashi of Bar Tre, Hiroshima) on the label. This acts as a solera as it's never emptied to less than a third full when whisky is drawn off for bottling.
8 year old whisky bottled at a healthy 48.5%. As you'd expect, it's non-chill filtered and natural colour.

What an interesting one. Side note, it keeps on changing in the glass. Will have to keep an eye on it over time. What is your favourite bottle from Thompson brothers? How much did you pay for this one? Please remember to like share and subscribe ❤.

This would be about $85 Canadian. That’s pretty cheap here for a solar distilled whisky!! I wish I could try this for fun!!

That huge price for the Dornoch Cask 001 is purely due to idiots who buy inaugural releases to flip them: they are playing a very expensive game of 'pass the parcel' and some sucker is going to lose massively when the music stops! However, I have a bottle and have shared it with people like Lee Ann of Scotch on the Bayou, Shayla of Whisky Central, Vin of No Nonsense Whisky and Kresimir the Sniper King, among others. The thing is: I was (in a small way) a crowdfunder when they were setting up the distillery, so I got it at 'an advantageous price'! In addition I have a bottle each of three of their 5-year-olds (casks 3, 21 and 101) and have another one due to arrive on Monday (not sure yet if it's a 5- or 6-year-old as they are randomly assigned) - they are all different, but I like them all.
Obviously, the make up of SRV5 varies from batch to batch, but they usually use Clynelish, Dailuaine, Glen Ord and Teaninich to some extent - I don't think they are allowed to show it in print anywhere... For me, their TB/BSW (which is rumoured to be mainly Macallan!) is both better and cheaper. Quite hilariously: in the U.S.A. due to a clash of trademark names, they sell their bottles as "Redacted Bros."!
I do also have 17 of their indie bottles - they are one of my favourite IBs. And great labels!

@@andrewbutler7681 the shop here in Brussels have a nice selection of Thompson bro. And unfortunately it is a bit pricey. But at least it is available. I think 32 is a great price for this one. Cheers mate. Hope you have a great weekend

Very interesting review Gert! I have had a Thompson Brothers whisky. Very well made. I think some reviewers have a big influence on on what people buy for whisky. I got my Thompson Brothers in the UK. This is lovingly made and I am excited for the people behind this whisky!! Huge integrity! I had some smaller issues with the whisky but I was okay with what we paid. Great thoughts!!

@@christinecamley I paid a bit too much for it, but it is nice. But it would have been much better at £32.

That’s pretty cheap for a blend here! Even Johnnie Walker Black is more for the larger bottle!

Reviewer channels might influence buying but I’m not sure how much it influences price! Door knock!! ✊

I have seen them try…..lol. Then they buy some bottles and sell them later on.
