Then you might come Isaiah 58, and when you get to verse 3 start absorbing every word slowly, until you get to verse 8, but ask God to open your eyes that you may see that fasting has to do with sharing his word so that people can become free of sins. It had to do with salvation.

Jesus set the standard he told us when we fast what will happen he didn't place all these guidelines that people have only fast for this only fast for that. Don't fast to receive something from God he stated God would reward us openly people need to stay in their lane when it comes to fasting that what the Holy Spirit is for I grit my teeth when people add to and subtract from the word of God....People can fast for whatever is ailing them and let the Holy Spirit reveal if it's right or wrong....if one fast for weight problems this is a part of their life issues and God will deliver them or if they fast for help from fornication God will help them we are not just one part so we take EVERYTHING to God in fasting and prayer if it is a problem in OUR lives woooo😉
I remember prophetess Anna who fasted simply as a way to worship God. Usually when I fast I don't have a particular thing that I'm fasting for so I just say I do it to worship God. I hope that's okay.
No. That is warped. Because it is self indulgent. We do not fast to draw near to God unless it is for repentance, or there would be biblical examples of that. The examples always is where prayer is on behalf of or for someone, or for God's will be done, and His name be vindicated. Fasted for 6 months last year, trust me everything Allen says is accurate! It definitely felt more like a diet until I intentionally submitted to the Lord and re-focused my time to prayer and reading/studying the word. At first it was just improved self-control but after it grew into purification and spiritual breakthrough. 🙏🏽 Jesus is so so good!
@@tmilesffl I have the same question. fasting to me is no food just water for the whole fast. if you eat at all during the fast it's not a fast it's a dedication. so if you do a 3 day fast no food should be eaten at all for 3 days straight. that's what I was taught.
@@thecalmingrealm4379 Abstinence from food is not the only fast recorded in the bible. But how this person did for six months is something supernatural? That is, if it was total food abstinence and water alone - that person would be dead. Daniel fasted, but only ate pulses and nuts, and "no pleasant food" when he and his companions had to tell the king of Babylon his dream AND the interpretation, or die. It also state they abstained from wine. We must be careful to not let personal opinion, or a way that seems right to ourself, or our experience replace what is written in God's word. Its the only solid ground in this world of lies and spiritual wickedness. Enquire of the bible, don't just assume - or ask someone who should know - like a bible teacher. @@morgradordread4394 I read the book of Daniel, I don't remember the bible calling his 21 day dedication a fast. when Daniel did fast in chapter 9:3 the bible specifically called that a fast. in the book of Daniel the 10:3 where it talks about how he didn't eat rich food, meat, nor did he drink wine, the bible never called that a fast. since the bible doesn't called his 21 day diet a fast, I won't either. Actual fasting is hard, that's why people want to take the easy way out and called anything a fast now a days.
I just finisht fasting with my church for three days and it was absolutely horrible not eating for three days, but after fasting god immediately answered my prayer i got a raise at my job and i already saw people for who i was praying making choices and getting touched.
Fasting is amazing! I felt led to fast 7 days many years ago.(I don't know why...but I felt God told me to.) It's crazy...how the hunger leaves...near the.end of day 3....and how you're never really hungry after that. If you feel far from God...fast, pray, and get into the WORD...you will be amazed at how close you will be drawn to God. Fasting is a blessing and discipline from God.
I help teach a bible class at my school with my friend. A couple weeks ago we decided to talk about fasting for our next meeting. We have been having a little trouble planning the lesson out, and the meeting is on Thursday! We called each other this morning to talk about it and plan it out some more. About an hour later, I went to RUclips, looked at my subscription page, and saw that this video was posted! It was like God was saying, “Here you go son, this will help you.” Thank you Allen for being obedient to the Spirit. This video really helped me out. The Lord bless all of you brothers and sisters.

When I learned about fasting, I started out eating one meal a day for three days. I didn't feel this was enough; so after three days, I ate nothing but drank water. My prayer life increased. After that I incorporated fasting for as long as I could, into my life on a monthly basis. Not as a discipline but a lifestyle. It was then that my spiritual life, my fellowship with GOD through Jesus Christ grew. Since it was a lifestyle, as I fasted it got easier and easier to do. I heard our LORD more clearly and understood His leading better. Fasting is key in our spiritual life. Jesus did it, and was very close to our Father and so should we. Thank you Allen Parr, very good post! One we all need to hear very much!
Same, I woke up today and felt like I was being told to fast. I also felt like the urge to do so had more to it. I was battling if God was calling me to actually do this now (in which case I needed too) or if there was some other purpose here. I ultimately decided to study to see if the sudden urge was scriptural, and schedule a fast for next week. The wisdom of this video was precisely what I needed. The next time I fast it will have much further purpose. I do not know if I chose correctly, and rejected Gods call today, but I do know this was humbling and that His infinite wisdom led me to more understanding today which will allow me to be further filled with His Spirit in the future. It is amazing how God blesses us!
You're definitely being used by God to speak to me this past couple of weeks. I have been very confused about a lot of things that are going on in my life mentally, relationally and spiritually. I felt like God was leading me to pray and fast over it all. Just this morning I was thinking "I don't know how you want me to do this God. What am I supposed to be fasting from and how do I submit to everything and still do all the things I am responsible for doing in my home and work?" Then your email telling me about your fasting video came up as I sat down to do my morning devotional! Last night I watched your Bible Study on Hebrews 12:1-2. And it nailed almost everything I think God is wanting me to spend time praying about! I am so thankful for your ministry Allen. God bless you 🙂🙂
To the one pointing fingers and saying Allen is preaching falsehoods. You quote scripture but the scripture you quote is not being backed up by actual examples of what Allen is supposedly telling us that is false. You can't just quote verses and accuse a man of God without backing it up with actual evidence. And you better make sure you are absolutely sure God is the one leading you to speak these accusations, or you are dishonoring one of God's shepherds. Which is actually a sin. Hebrews 3:17, 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13.

Is fasting a requirement of our commitment to God, or a choice, like being a vegetarian or not, or following Christmas or not? Please. I need some help here. The traditions I have know, never included fasting for spiritual wellbeing, just physical. And I think I have missed some significance given biblically, as everyone here seems to have a what I deem a very mystical understanding of fasting - which invokes God's power on one's personal behalf. When prayer is known to make requests known to God by faith, according to His will, anyway. There is a difference I cannot grasp. And an even bigger difference if you fast while praying. Then, what does fasting do? Bend or change you, or God ? I cannot understand what you all, (even Allen) is saying. Can anyone explain it all to me? ...
@@morgradordread4394 Fasting is generally associated with food intake, but there are also benefits from fasting (aka abstaining) from other things that potentially can distract us from God. For example, I have fasted from social media for various lengths of time to purposefully allocate more time in prayer and in the word. Social media in and of itself is not sinful by any means, but fasting/abstaining from using it frees up more time to spend with the Lord.

Fasting often is most definitely necessary! I was led to do so after I partook in lint (not Catholic btw). I just liked that they were giving something up for spiritual gain. So I gave up sweets, and it was a struggle, I tell you. But afterward, I felt the Holy Spirit telling me I shouldn't bank this on just one event in the year. But should do it often. So I fasted from sweets once a week for every month after that. And my relationship with God grew tremendously. I was able to get over my addiction to porn, and God blessed me in so many other ways. Ish 58:6 is a great scripture to keep in mind on our posture in fasting.

i grew up fasting because I was raised in the Roman Catholic Church; 40 days of lent, no meat on Fridays, and 6pm Saturday night till we went to church on Sunday in order to take Communion. When I left the Catholic Church, before I was saved, I turned my back on everything I associated with the RCC. 10 years ago I was reintroduced to fasting...what a difference it makes in my prayer time, my Bible study time, my whole day!! Thank you for sharing these 7 Biblical fasting principles...something more to consider during my times of fasting. I'm currently in a 31 day fast.
I started a fast for the whole of this month of January, and I began to focus on the health benefits and weight loss(as my health is part of my resolution) and it began to consume me, this is like a realignment, thankyou so much.

Thank you Pastor Allen, I started my first fast this month and I wish I heard this a little sooner overall I have been doing well. My reasoning for my fast was to strength my relationship with God and through my results I have come to really enjoy my quiet time with God, and even started visiting a church in over 8 years 🥺💗
We are fasting for 20 days and this video just pops up in my feed. God is telling me the right way to fast. Wether we fast to draw close to God or repentance but main important is your personal relationship to God and how faithful you are to Him.
God wrote about many things in the bible, it doesn't always mean that he wants us to do it the way we think. Especially when he tells us what he prefers and gives us another meaning to the word fast. I'd like you to read Isaiah 58 read up to verse 6 and on.
This is so constructive for me. I find myself struggling with fasting even though I sense I need to. My sins of gluttony pull me into a diet mentality but I want a pure heart before the Lord. I will watch this again.
I had something sleeping with me at night and last midnight I started fasting and I’m still on my fasting until 18:00 and last night nothing came to sleep with me, thank you Jesus I know that as I grow spiritual you will save me from all the demons that are after me❤❤
I believe God had sent me this because my friend and I were literally talking about fasting before i even find this video. I feel this is needed for me. @@JayJay-uo5vw Just tell God in prayer what your plan is for fasting and that your main purpose is to draw closer to him. Be specific: I will be fasting from x. My fast will start and end at x time. It will last x amount of days and if there is any specific needs you have. Plan with God what you need to pray about and any scriptures you should focus on during your fast. I hope this helps!
Thank you for this teaching. I’ve never fasted yet as I didn’t understand what it was all about but this has helped me immensely. I’m on medication so when i fast from food I will drink smoothies. I also could fast from tv and social media as they both take up quite a bit of my time. God bless your ministry
I'm learning my way around too with my health. I know I don't know your health issues, but have you tried chia seeds? I'm learning it helps with blood sugar stabilization. I just put some in water (you can have it other ways, but for fasting purposes). It fills you, it is a good fiber, and helps with the blood sugar like I said. I hope this helps a little (although maybe you should check with your dr if it interferes with meds).
You fast every time you sleep what do you mean you've never fasted.... The problem with the church is that they like to spiritualize everything!! Read Isaiah 58 take an aspirin and go to bed.... stop spiritualizing everything
PLEASE consult your doctor before fasting if you are on medication! Smoothies are NOT a substitute for food. Unless you are making food, and putting it all in a high speed blender. And then you are not fasting anyways. Smoothies, esp if using fruit will spike your blood sugars. And you need to take your meds with or after food, then you *must* do this. It is not imperative to your salvation that you fast. And as you have said, we can fast from other things that take up too much of our time or thoughts. Pls be well and safe my friend!
@@loobylouboti Good point. Let me add that when I fast, I generally do it by cutting out treats or certain items (like I did bread once). But fasting can & should also be like abstaining from activities, such as tv or playing games, which is what I do to fast. So putting that out there👍

I think there’s more power fasting the things that stimulate your brain and flesh the most. Food was a great stimulation back in the “Biblical times” but today we have things like the internet, our phones, our video games, our tv, our sports games, etc and if we truly fast from our weaknesses then we will see a great healing and transformation.
@@mylesmcmanus2847 totally, I have trouble fasting one than one meal before getting sick and feeling faint, but I have zero issue with fasting Facebook for a time and my flesh craves it and I get to smile and say nope you're not reinstalling that until the end of the fast and my flesh cringes but my spirit soars and the holy spirit inside of me says well done faithful servant as I almost feel him smiling on me.

Fasting is to abstain from food. You can delete your social media, tv, sports games etc. for consecration and be sanctified, but fasting (Hebrew word tsowm) means to “not eat”.

Verse 6 Is this not the fast that I have chosen: To loose the bonds of wickedness, To undo the heavy burdens, To let the oppressed go free, And that you break every yoke? You can also fast to receive more power or anointing from the Holy Spirit in order to be able to cast out certain types of demons that are strongholds. As Jesus says some demons do not go out but by prayer and fasting.

And as you can see in that passage that the fast ordained by God is faith in Jesus and not the giving up foods. Fasting from foods and drinks was a symbol, a sign of the true fast but not the real thing.

Brother Allan the 7 Biblical Principles were so helpful, I git my new journal and watched the video a second time to write all that good info down. I felt lost fasting and made mistakes but now I feel I have a plan and a reason. You really don't know how your ministry has added to my life. I've been saved for 3 years but I've never fully fasted nor made it a habit to fast. I'm 210 lbs and some people at church have said that it shows that I don't regularly fast as they do. I Felt so offended but they were right
They were not right, they were very wrong for that and who are they to tell you something like that especially “church people” coming from someone that grew up in church that’s not how you talk to someone they need to focus on their own issues not yours
God also used fasting to help us fight against any wicked thing coming against us. Isaiah 58:6 says ....Isn't this not the fast that I have chosen. To LOOSE the bonds of wickedness , to UNDO the heavy burdens. To LET THE OPPRESSED GO FREE, and that you BREAK EVERY YOKE? We also have to be right with God if we fast because verse 7 says is it not to share your bread with the hungry and that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; when you see the naked that you cover him and not hide yourself from your own flesh. Then your light shall spring forth like the morning etc etc. In other words we should fast in the right spirit with the right intentions, with righteousness before us. As a Christian who has been trying to lose weight for the past few years, I have at times gotten my diet fasting and my spiritual fasting in a muddle. It helps me to know that you do both and can explain the difference. I've looked up several other resources on fasting without finding that.
I didn’t even know about the fasting for repentance, that’s exactly why I wanted to fast. I’m tired of dealing with my sin and leaving god. All I want is to get closer to god, and know gods heart.

This is good! I literally started a fast but didn’t have a clear objective to why I was fasting….. although I need to repent and get back close to God, which I feel that I have. But this video gave some good pointers on where I went wrong.
Hello Allen. I watch your videos and agree with a lot of the teachings that you share. I do have one thought about the fasting. We as a society have added something a little different than what you find in scripture about fasting. We have added TV, video games, social media etc. to the fasting list when it is not really possible. The definition of fasting is to abstain from food , beyond the usual time; omit to take the usual meals, for a time. To my understanding the only acceptable fast unto the Lord is based on food. We can deny ourselves all the other things while we are fasting so that we can be better focused on the spiritual aspect, but fasting itself is biblically defined as abstaining from food for a time. If you have a scripture that shows that items such as the ones I listed is acceptable to the Lord in fasting, please share.
God told me to fast for fertility for the daughter He promised me. He told me to fast so I could prepare myself to be fruitful and plant seeds in my children and husbands to prepare to get my family to church. I am doing a 9 day fast for each month of pregnancy but starting with a specialized fast, then sundown fast and finishing with a Daniel fast.

There is no worldwide revival mentioned in the Church of Laodicea in Rev 3. There will be small revivals but not worldwide or nationwide. The most important revival starts with ourselves and how we can get right with the Lord and start doing his work that he sent us to do
Happy new year! I find that most people don't discuss Isaiah 58 where it mentioned true fasting, in particular verse 6-7. I think this should have been included in your list. My understanding of this is that fasting is more than food, it's also how you treat those around you.

Then you might come Isaiah 58, and when you get to verse 3 start absorbing every word slowly, until you get to verse 8, but ask God to open your eyes that you may see that fasting has to do with sharing his word so that people can become free of sins. It had to do with salvation.

Jesus set the standard he told us when we fast what will happen he didn't place all these guidelines that people have only fast for this only fast for that. I remember prophetess Anna who fasted simply as a way to worship God. Usually when I fast I don't have a particular thing that I'm fasting for so I just say I do it to worship God. I hope that's okay.

Fasted for 6 months last year, trust me everything Allen says is accurate! It definitely felt more like a diet until I intentionally submitted to the Lord and re-focused my time to prayer and reading/studying the word. At first it was just improved self-control but after it grew into purification and spiritual breakthrough. 🙏🏽 Jesus is so so good!
How did you fast for 6 months? Like was there certain times during the days you were fasting and then you would eat later?

@@tmilesffl I have the same question. fasting to me is no food just water for the whole fast. if you eat at all during the fast it's not a fast it's a dedication. so if you do a 3 day fast no food should be eaten at all for 3 days straight. that's what I was taught.

Abstinence from food is not the only fast recorded in the bible.
But how this person did for six months is something supernatural?
That is, if it was total food abstinence and water alone - that person would be dead.
Daniel fasted, but only ate pulses and nuts, and "no pleasant food" when he and his companions had to tell the king of Babylon his dream AND the interpretation, or die. It also state they abstained from wine.
We must be careful to not let personal opinion, or a way that seems right to ourself, or our experience replace what is written in God's word. Its the only solid ground in this world of lies and spiritual wickedness. Enquire of the bible, don't just assume - or ask someone who should know - like a bible teacher. Like Allen who made this video. Or else what is the use of Allen's videos if not to answer questions like this?

@@morgradordread4394 I read the book of Daniel, I don't remember the bible calling his 21 day dedication a fast. when Daniel did fast in chapter 9:3 the bible specifically called that a fast. in the book of Daniel the 10:3 where it talks about how he didn't eat rich food, meat, nor did he drink wine, the bible never called that a fast. since the bible doesn't called his 21 day diet a fast, I won't either. Actual fasting is hard, that's why people want to take the easy way out and called anything a fast now a days.

3) To grieve for a situation
4) To repent and cleanse yourself
I just finisht fasting with my church for three days and it was absolutely horrible not eating for three days, but after fasting god immediately answered my prayer i got a raise at my job and i already saw people for who i was praying making choices and getting touched.

I fast for 1 day and really hurt me because I work inside a clean room and the temperature is freezing. I got through it, thanks to the Lord.
i never fast before, i want to fast to God, can i fast for 12 hours start at 6am and end at 6pm? can i eat solid food after 6 pm?
Fasting is amazing! I felt led to fast 7 days many years ago.(I don't know why...but I felt God told me to.) It's crazy...how the hunger leaves...near the.end of day 3....and how you're never really hungry after that. If you feel far from God...fast, pray, and get into the WORD...you will be amazed at how close you will be drawn to God. Fasting is a blessing and discipline from God.
Maybe for you but I felt tired and hungry most of the time.

I help teach a bible class at my school with my friend. A couple weeks ago we decided to talk about fasting for our next meeting. We have been having a little trouble planning the lesson out, and the meeting is on Thursday! We called each other this morning to talk about it and plan it out some more. About an hour later, I went to RUclips, looked at my subscription page, and saw that this video was posted! It was like God was saying, “Here you go son, this will help you.” Thank you Allen for being obedient to the Spirit. This video really helped me out. The Lord bless all of you brothers and sisters.

What? It is now bad form to ask questions and or test teaching as the bible commands? Or is it that once scripture is quoted no other explanation is needed? What is it - that bible teachers must now dictate as intolerant to questions that may require patience and caring (Christian responsibility)?

When I learned about fasting, I started out eating one meal a day for three days. I didn't feel this was enough; so after three days, I ate nothing but drank water. My prayer life increased. After that I incorporated fasting for as long as I could, into my life on a monthly basis. Not as a discipline but a lifestyle. It was then that my spiritual life, my fellowship with GOD through Jesus Christ grew. Since it was a lifestyle, as I fasted it got easier and easier to do. I heard our LORD more clearly and understood His leading better. Fasting is key in our spiritual life. Jesus did it, and was very close to our Father and so should we. Thank you Allen Parr, very good post! One we all need to hear very much!

Same, I woke up today and felt like I was being told to fast. I also felt like the urge to do so had more to it. I was battling if God was calling me to actually do this now (in which case I needed too) or if there was some other purpose here. I ultimately decided to study to see if the sudden urge was scriptural, and schedule a fast for next week.
The wisdom of this video was precisely what I needed. The next time I fast it will have much further purpose. I do not know if I chose correctly, and rejected Gods call today, but I do know this was humbling and that His infinite wisdom led me to more understanding today which will allow me to be further filled with His Spirit in the future.

You're definitely being used by God to speak to me this past couple of weeks. I have been very confused about a lot of things that are going on in my life mentally, relationally and spiritually. I felt like God was leading me to pray and fast over it all. Just this morning I was thinking "I don't know how you want me to do this God. What am I supposed to be fasting from and how do I submit to everything and still do all the things I am responsible for doing in my home and work?" Then your email telling me about your fasting video came up as I sat down to do my morning devotional! Last night I watched your Bible Study on Hebrews 12:1-2. To the one pointing fingers and saying Allen is preaching falsehoods. You quote scripture but the scripture you quote is not being backed up by actual examples of what Allen is supposedly telling us that is false. You can't just quote verses and accuse a man of God without backing it up with actual evidence. And you better make sure you are absolutely sure God is the one leading you to speak these accusations, or you are dishonoring one of God's shepherds. Which is actually a sin. Hebrews 3:17, 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13.

Is fasting a requirement of our commitment to God, or a choice, like being a vegetarian or not, or following Christmas or not? Please. I need some help here.
The traditions I have know, never included fasting for spiritual wellbeing, just physical. And I think I have missed some significance given biblically, as everyone here seems to have a what I deem a very mystical understanding of fasting - which invokes God's power on one's personal behalf. When prayer is known to make requests known to God by faith, according to His will, anyway.
There is a difference I cannot grasp.
And an even bigger difference if you fast while praying. Then, what does fasting do? Bend or change you, or God ? I cannot understand what you all, (even Allen) is saying. Can anyone explain it all to me?

@@morgradordread4394 Fasting is generally associated with food intake, but there are also benefits from fasting (aka abstaining) from other things that potentially can distract us from God. For example, I have fasted from social media for various lengths of time to purposefully allocate more time in prayer and in the word. Social media in and of itself is not sinful by any means, but fasting/abstaining from using it frees up more time to spend with the Lord.

We ARE COMMANDED in scripture to gain wisdom and life in the scriptures - its reasonable, and a response to the love of God, that we take time to know Him, that we have a relationship going.
To say it is a sacrifice in this world isn't wrong, but we are not of the world. We ARE NOT OUR OWN, we have been bought with a price. A servant does not sacrifice his time to serve his master. There is no such thing.
Say instead that you practise self control with digital distractions. That is the truth of it.

Fasting often is most definitely necessary! I was led to do so after I partook in lint (not Catholic btw). I just liked that they were giving something up for spiritual gain. So I gave up sweets, and it was a struggle, I tell you. But afterward, I felt the Holy Spirit telling me I shouldn't bank this on just one event in the year. But should do it often. So I fasted from sweets once a week for every month after that. And my relationship with God grew tremendously. I was able to get over my addiction to porn, and God blessed me in so many other ways. Ish 58:6 is a great scripture to keep in mind on our posture in fasting.

After many years of past, I fasted today. I'm really Blessed. Thank God for His mercy upon me, for His grace.
i grew up fasting because I was raised in the Roman Catholic Church; 40 days of lent, no meat on Fridays, and 6pm Saturday night till we went to church on Sunday in order to take Communion. When I left the Catholic Church, before I was saved, I turned my back on everything I associated with the RCC. 10 years ago I was reintroduced to fasting...what a difference it makes in my prayer time, my Bible study time, my whole day!! Thank you for sharing these 7 Biblical fasting principles...something more to consider during my times of fasting. I'm currently in a 31 day fast.
I started a fast for the whole of this month of January, and I began to focus on the health benefits and weight loss(as my health is part of my resolution) and it began to consume me, this is like a realignment, thankyou so much.

Thank you Pastor Allen, I started my first fast this month and I wish I heard this a little sooner overall I have been doing well.
My reasoning for my fast was to strength my relationship with God and through my results I have come to really enjoy my quiet time with God, and even started visiting a church in over 8 years 🥺💗
We are fasting for 20 days and this video just pops up in my feed. God is telling me the right way to fast. Wether we fast to draw close to God or repentance but main important is your personal relationship to God and how faithful you are to Him.
God wrote about many things in the bible, it doesn't always mean that he wants us to do it the way we think. Especially when he tells us what he prefers and gives us another meaning to the word fast. I'd like you to read Isaiah 58 read up to verse 6 and on.
This is so constructive for me. I find myself struggling with fasting even though I sense I need to. My sins of gluttony pull me into a diet mentality but I want a pure heart before the Lord. I will watch this again.
I had something sleeping with me at night and last midnight I started fasting and I’m still on my fasting until 18:00 and last night nothing came to sleep with me, thank you Jesus I know that as I grow spiritual you will save me from all the demons that are after me❤❤

@@JayJay-uo5vw Just tell God in prayer what your plan is for fasting and that your main purpose is to draw closer to him. Be specific: I will be fasting from x. My fast will start and end at x time. It will last x amount of days and if there is any specific needs you have. Plan with God what you need to pray about and any scriptures you should focus on during your fast. I hope this helps!

I also could fast from tv and social media as they both take up quite a bit of my time. God bless your ministry
I'm learning my way around too with my health. I know I don't know your health issues, but have you tried chia seeds? I'm learning it helps with blood sugar stabilization. I just put some in water (you can have it other ways, but for fasting purposes). It fills you, it is a good fiber, and helps with the blood sugar like I said. I hope this helps a little (although maybe you should check with your dr if it interferes with meds).
You fast every time you sleep what do you mean you've never fasted.... The problem with the church is that they like to spiritualize everything!! Read Isaiah 58 take an aspirin and go to bed.... stop spiritualizing everything

Smoothies are NOT a substitute for food. Unless you are making food, and putting it all in a high speed blender. And then you are not fasting anyways.
Smoothies, esp if using fruit will spike your blood sugars.
And you need to take your meds with or after food, then you *must* do this.
It is not imperative to your salvation that you fast.
And as you have said, we can fast from other things that take up too much of our time or thoughts.

@@loobylouboti Good point. Let me add that when I fast, I generally do it by cutting out treats or certain items (like I did bread once). But fasting can & should also be like abstaining from activities, such as tv or playing games, which is what I do to fast. So putting that out there👍
Also, maybe look to do a Daniel fast, which would not eliminate all food but meat, sweets, etc.

Me too... I joined DAB for the 1st time this year. I've never read the through the whole bible chronologically. I'm excited to do the fast as well.
I think there’s more power fasting the things that stimulate your brain and flesh the most. Food was a great stimulation back in the “Biblical times” but today we have things like the internet, our phones, our video games, our tv, our sports games, etc and if we truly fast from our weaknesses then we will see a great healing and transformation.

@@mylesmcmanus2847 totally, I have trouble fasting one than one meal before getting sick and feeling faint, but I have zero issue with fasting Facebook for a time and my flesh craves it and I get to smile and say nope you're not reinstalling that until the end of the fast and my flesh cringes but my spirit soars and the holy spirit inside of me says well done faithful servant as I almost feel him smiling on me.

Fasting is to abstain from food. You can delete your social media, tv, sports games etc. for consecration and be sanctified, but fasting (Hebrew word tsowm) means to “not eat”.
I have fasted for different periods of times over the years and I must say this has been the most concise, practical and biblical-based teaching on fasting and I appreciate you. This is giving me new and fresh insight to my fasting this year.

Other reasons that God says you should fast is found in Isaiah 58 which by the way is God speaking directly to his people about the fasting that pleases Him.
Verse 6
Is this not the fast that I have chosen:
To loose the bonds of wickedness,
To undo the heavy burdens,
To let the oppressed go free,
And that you break every yoke?
You can also fast to receive more power or anointing from the Holy Spirit in order to be able to cast out certain types of demons that are strongholds. As Jesus says some demons do not go out but by prayer and fasting.
I'm so glad I received this because my bond with the Heavenly Father has been strengthening lately but i felt like there was more that had to be done and I thought about fasting and this was perfect!!!

You can read it, but also read a commentary so it is not taken out of context as some here have posted.
And as you can see in that passage that the fast ordained by God is faith in Jesus and not the giving up foods. Fasting from foods and drinks was a symbol, a sign of the true fast but not the real thing.

I've been saved for 3 years but I've never fully fasted nor made it a habit to fast. I'm 210 lbs and some people at church have said that it shows that I don't regularly fast as they do. I Felt so offended but they were right
That does not sound like a Godly group of people.
They were not right, they were very wrong for that and who are they to tell you something like that especially “church people” coming from someone that grew up in church that’s not how you talk to someone they need to focus on their own issues not yours
God also used fasting to help us fight against any wicked thing coming against us. Isaiah 58:6 says ....Isn't this not the fast that I have chosen. To LOOSE the bonds of wickedness , to UNDO the heavy burdens. To LET THE OPPRESSED GO FREE, and that you BREAK EVERY YOKE? We also have to be right with God if we fast because verse 7 says is it not to share your bread with the hungry and that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; when you see the naked that you cover him and not hide yourself from your own flesh. Then your light shall spring forth like the morning etc etc. In other words we should fast in the right spirit with the right intentions, with righteousness before us. As a Christian who has been trying to lose weight for the past few years, I have at times gotten my diet fasting and my spiritual fasting in a muddle. It helps me to know that you do both and can explain the difference. I've looked up several other resources on fasting without finding that.

I didn’t even know about the fasting for repentance, that’s exactly why I wanted to fast. I’m tired of dealing with my sin and leaving god. All I want is to get closer to god, and know gods heart.

This is good! I literally started a fast but didn’t have a clear objective to why I was fasting….. although I need to repent and get back close to God, which I feel that I have. But this video gave some good pointers on where I went wrong.

Hello Allen. I watch your videos and agree with a lot of the teachings that you share. I do have one thought about the fasting. We as a society have added something a little different than what you find in scripture about fasting. We have added TV, video games, social media etc. to the fasting list when it is not really possible. The definition of fasting is to abstain from food , beyond the usual time; omit to take the usual meals, for a time. To my understanding the only acceptable fast unto the Lord is based on food. We can deny ourselves all the other things while we are fasting so that we can be better focused on the spiritual aspect, but fasting itself is biblically defined as abstaining from food for a time. If you have a scripture that shows that items such as the ones I listed is acceptable to the Lord in fasting, please share.

God told me to fast for fertility for the daughter He promised me. He told me to fast so I could prepare myself to be fruitful and plant seeds in my children and husbands to prepare to get my family to church. I am doing a 9 day fast for each month of pregnancy but starting with a specialized fast, then sundown fast and finishing with a Daniel fast.

There is no worldwide revival mentioned in the Church of Laodicea in Rev 3. There will be small revivals but not worldwide or nationwide. The most important revival starts with ourselves and how we can get right with the Lord and start doing his work that he sent us to do

Happy new year! I find that most people don't discuss Isaiah 58 where it mentioned true fasting, in particular verse 6-7. I think this should have been included in your list. My understanding of this is that fasting is more than food, it's also how you treat those around you.
