I am 25 and fasting from today for the first time. I was struggling with anxiety and rejection. Two weeks ago, I cried my heart out and asked God to hold my hand,,the next day my heart felt lighter, my anxiety was gone. I feel more closer with God now so, I decided to fast which I have wanted to do for a very long time. Praise Lord! Something changed in my life.
Everything became really different when I picture life as eternal, when I realize that once this is all over I get to be with my Lord, so Life will happen but if your mind is stayed on God, it is Him who deserves all the tears

I believe in fasting. It is definitely terrible if you have the wrong mind set for sure. But it does work with prayer of course. I fasted one time for 10 days. The first 3 days were the toughest but God sustained me and at the end He healed me of an eye issue, blood sugar issues and a back injury. It's a challenge at times but it can definitely pay off.

I once suffered from a terrible case of Type 2 Diabetes. I fasted several days every week and prayed to God for help with my condition. Now, I don't suffer from T2D. I still fast 2 days a week to give thanks.
When I fast and my stomach starts hunger paining I tell my flesh " good, suffer and I hope it hurts". I know it sounds crazy but I let my flesh know that it has no power over the spirit.

When the church I attended went on a fast for 21days, I looked forward to going on it, as it was my first time. I went on a partial fast of fruits n veges, I abstained from meat, bread n sweets. Amen, please pray for me. I've followed God these past 40 years, from evangelism, intercession, etc but except standing on the pulpit and preach. People call me Pastor but I do not know how to preach. At 40 with no children and not married. In an African culture thats 'unmanly'. I became poorer and poorer over the years I've remained in God (I'm talking about world definition of poverty ) but in me I feel God's presence but there are times when I feel weak. Due to that I got weakened again. If you must fast let your prayer life not dwindle else the devil would penetrate that angle. I would suggest you start small like maybe 6 in the morning to 12 or 2 in the afternoon with prayers and worship with the word

I'm 20, this Is my first time fasting and Is not for me. A very dear friend of mine is battling with depression because of the horrible environment that surrounds her in the church. It Is full hatred and contempt and lacks love in every teaching and councel. While praying and pouring my heart to God and telling Him what was wrong and how useless I felt for being unable to help in any other way than praying for her and her family, He brought peace to my heart and told me that all Is going to be fine, after some time. His Spirit reminded me of Job 8:21-22 and 1 Peter 1:7. Then He placed this desire of fasting in my heart and understanding what it was, so I ended up here. I know that Jesus said "In the world you will have tribulations, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world". And I trust in this with all my heart, even If an answer seems impossible and deliberance is nothing but nonsense in my eyes, but He has promised this things so I will wait. Just that, He knows better and understands better than anyone ever will. Proverbs 16:1-3 is also a comfort passage right now. Thank you for reading this, I just needed to take it off my chest. God will sustain us, He will deliver her family. I trust even If everything else Is wrong and nothing seems to get better. Job 8:5-7 I ask, If anyone came this far, that you help me to pray for them. I think that fasting has many purposes for yourself and your relationship to God: 1. You will get to know yourself better, you can know that you are able to live with less than you think you need. Because of this you become more thankful towards God because you know how blessed you really are. (--> Love your God with all of your heart, soul, mind and strength) 2. You will get a new perspective towards poor people who cannot afford enough food. You start to have more compassion which causes your love for those who are in need to grow, knowing that this state of not being able to eat which you voluntarily participate in, is a state which they are forced to live in, unless you help them get some food. (--> Love your neighbor as yourself) 3. If you know that you don't need nearly as much as you think you need, you can give more freely, because you can know that you will not come into need so easily. (--> Trust God and love your neighbor) 4. If you know that you don't need as much as you think you need and you can survive with much less, you can be more sincere with your faith and defend it better because you know that you are able to endure persecution and suffering for your love of God.
"Pray when it hurts" I LOVE IT!!! Would spiritual fasting then be denying our self pleasures and seeking God instead? It REALLY all boils down to self crucifixion and letting Christ CONSUME us. Jesus woke His disciples and told them to pray that they enter not into temptation. So we could deny sleep even if for one hour to pray. And to the single and celibate, I think that is a great opportunity to have a strengthening of prayer life. All part of denying ourselves, taking up our cross and following Jesus. I have tried to fast at least twice now with limited success; usually giving in within four days. In all honesty, I have not had much support for most of my spiritual walk. I'm 31 and since I received christ been fasting and praying every month for 14 day. It has helped my spiritual life and I thank God for finding me worthy to be called His very own.
I am on day 18 of 21, today is tough. I do my time with God in the morning, worship, praise reading and meditating on scripture before I start to pray. Some days I have amazing energy levels, but right now I taking it easy as I have no strength. At times I like this I will listen to Coral music.
This is a great video and I also wanted to add that when we fast we are denying our flesh and we are feeding our spirits through prayer, worshipping God, and reading the word. Simply just to build our relationship with God and having proximity with Him. We are emptying ourselves and giving room for the Lord to fill our lives. If you are fasting and yet you’re not doing anything spiritually productive then you need to re-align your focus on God.

That's what I've been asking myself lately. Is food more important than my salvation? Am I not willing to give up food for such a thing as important as this? I've started today! Your prayers for what I seek, salvation and victory over sin, would be granted I in Christ. 🙏
I want to add that after two days (depending on what your diet is before the fast) the hormone that controls the waves of hunger completely dissipates. Also, focus and energy go through the roof. What this means is, the hunger pains won't be there in a longer fast -and- you will have more mental clarity and more time to pray. People who do prolonged fasts often say that by the third day they have so much energy that they don't need to sleep nearly as much and they feel like they could work our for hours. Perhaps longer fasts have the benefit of giving us amazing laser focus and the energy to put into praying that we don't usually have when we eat on a regular basis. We are fearfully and wonderfully made!

I lost my sense of taste and smell from COVID, and as a result had very little appetite to eat anything aside from the bare minimum to keep my body moving. The Holy Spirit intercedes for you so that you may have the fullness of Christ. And also deliverance comes and demonic strongholds are broken. Answers to prayers are answered according to God’s will and He says that we should never cease to pray! In all things with supplications and petitions make your requests known to God. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. When I fast and my stomach starts hunger paining I tell my flesh " good, suffer and I hope it hurts". I know it sounds crazy but I let my flesh know that it has no power over the spirit.
Sorry but you are gravely mistaken, your Body is not the same as your flesh. The flesh is a term used in scripture to describe the sinful nature of man. Like lust for example. Lack of food doesn't hurt your lust (that is your flesh) it only hurts your body.
Fasting is a sacrifice to God. It demonstrates to God how badly we want something. It says to God, I need this answer more than I need food. And God loves and honours sacrifices that are pure.

When the church I attended went on a fast for 21days, I looked forward to going on it, as it was my first time. I went on a partial fast of fruits n veges, I abstained from meat, bread n sweets. I heard the Holy Spirit say to me before I started, that when ever I felt hungry to drink water. It worked. I even stretched the fast to 40 days, All glory to the king of kings amen n amen 💜👍😄🙏 it really advanced my prayer life, I felt closer to God's presence, I am more sensitive to Him now more than ever now and loving it.🦁🔥🌈🕊️👑♥️

People call me Pastor but I do not know how to preach. At 40 with no children and not married. In an African culture thats 'unmanly'. Due to that I got weakened again. If you must fast let your prayer life not dwindle else the devil would penetrate that angle. Fasting and prayer work hand in hand with each other. You cannot fast without praying - otherwise you will simply be on a hunger strike. The point of fasting is to sacrifice earthly needs in order to focus more on communing with God. Prayer is how we commune with God during this time of fellowship. It is in these times we can receive visions, revelations of God’s word, and a refreshed assurance in the goodness of God.
I'm 20, this Is my first time fasting and Is not for me. A very dear friend of mine is battling with depression because of the horrible environment that surrounds her in the church. It Is full hatred and contempt and lacks love in every teaching and councel.
While praying and pouring my heart to God and telling Him what was wrong and how useless I felt for being unable to help in any other way than praying for her and her family, He brought peace to my heart and told me that all Is going to be fine, after some time. His Spirit reminded me of Job 8:21-22 and 1 Peter 1:7. Then He placed this desire of fasting in my heart and understanding what it was, so I ended up here.
I know that Jesus said "In the world you will have tribulations, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world". And I trust in this with all my heart, even If an answer seems impossible and deliberance is nothing but nonsense in my eyes, but He has promised this things so I will wait. Just that, He knows better and understands better than anyone ever will.
Proverbs 16:1-3 is also a comfort passage right now.

I think that fasting has many purposes for yourself and your relationship to God:
1. You will get to know yourself better, you can know that you are able to live with less than you think you need. Because of this you become more thankful towards God because you know how blessed you really are. (--> Love your God with all of your heart, soul, mind and strength)
2. You will get a new perspective towards poor people who cannot afford enough food. You start to have more compassion which causes your love for those who are in need to grow, knowing that this state of not being able to eat which you voluntarily participate in, is a state which they are forced to live in, unless you help them get some food. (--> Love your neighbor as yourself)
3. If you know that you don't need nearly as much as you think you need, you can give more freely, because you can know that you will not come into need so easily. (--> Trust God and love your neighbor)
4. If you know that you don't need as much as you think you need and you can survive with much less, you can be more sincere with your faith and defend it better because you know that you are able to endure persecution and suffering for your love of God.
"Pray when it hurts" I LOVE IT!!! Would spiritual fasting then be denying our self pleasures and seeking God instead? It REALLY all boils down to self crucifixion and letting Christ CONSUME us. Thank You a wonderful BIBLICAL commandment. I think recently I have been doing this unknowingly just eating enough to survive and focusing solely on God. YES I have been asleep at the wheel. Ha Ha TY
Jesus woke His disciples and told them to pray that they enter not into temptation. So we could deny sleep even if for one hour to pray. And to the single and celibate, I think that is a great opportunity to have a strengthening of prayer life. All part of denying ourselves, taking up our cross and following Jesus. Even selling our possessions and giving to the poor applies as well. It is good to have one focus and one goal. Heaven is our home and that's where our treasure and heart is. God bless.

This is a great video and I also wanted to add that when we fast we are denying our flesh and we are feeding our spirits through prayer, worshipping God, and reading the word. Simply just to build our relationship with God and having proximity with Him. We are emptying ourselves and giving room for the Lord to fill our lives.

I want to add that after two days (depending on what your diet is before the fast) the hormone that controls the waves of hunger completely dissipates. Also, focus and energy go through the roof.
What this means is, the hunger pains won't be there in a longer fast -and- you will have more mental clarity and more time to pray. People who do prolonged fasts often say that by the third day they have so much energy that they don't need to sleep nearly as much and they feel like they could work our for hours. Perhaps longer fasts have the benefit of giving us amazing laser focus and the energy to put into praying that we don't usually have when we eat on a regular basis.
