About Gold Shaw Farm: Gold Shaw Farm is more of a farm-in-progress than an honest-to-goodness farm. Our dream is that someday, we can transform our 150+ acre parcel of land into a regenerative and productive homestead and farm. Развлечения
In Australia's South Coast, Maremmas are saving tiny penguins from extinction. Since they were guarding chickens, penguins aren't much of a difference to them. They're just chickens in dinner jackets.
Chicks in Suits 😂😂😂
With how stinky and dirty they get they're more like ducks in suits
That’s very cool, to have those awesome furrbabies save the penguins from extinction! 😊❤
@@piplupcola and I suddenly flashed back on the Muppet Show and heard Piiiiiiigs in Spaaaaace!
😂
On Fridays I watch a German show called NDR Hofgeschichten and just this past Friday they also showed a segment on cutting grass fields and fawns. In the very early morning hours (ground coldest) they'd fly an infra red drone over the area to be cut. The fawns show up as heat points and they catch them. Then they put them all in a sacrificial strip of grass (as in, it won't get mowed) for their mothers to pick up after the main field is mowed.
Awesome! 😊
That's cute 💜
I'm glad you clarified the strip was NOT going to get mowed, because moving small babies into a line in a "sacrificial strip of grass" sounds HORRIFYING otherwise.
@@mookieluvr 😅That is indeed a horrifying thought image.
I love this!
In Oregon, I bought my hay from the same farmer every year. One year when we got to the field to pick up the hay, there was an unmowed spot near the middle with caution tape around it.
When he was haying, he found a pheasant with a nest, so he marked it and put up a sign to keep them safe. ❤❤❤
LOVE THAT!! That is the way to treat wildlife! Thanks for sharing.
Pheasants were first introduced to Oregon in the early 1880s by Owen Denny, the U.S. consul general in Shanghai. He brought 60 ring-necked pheasants from Asia and released them in the Willamette Valley. This marked the beginning of pheasant hunting in Oregon and as the population grew some were transported to another 40 states.

I grew up in Calif when it was sane (50s & 60s). My dad hunted pheasant. I knew they were imported from China. Did not know more than that.
Beautiful birds that won't flush unless they absolutely have to. One flushed literally under the nose of my horse just before he stepped on it one time. That was an interesting ride for a moment! 🤣
@@kathleenredick275 Cali was nice in the 50s and 60s, I miss the Beatniks, the Yippies, Hippies and other counter culture types.
"Maybe join a parenting group, I dunno" 🤣😂🤣
Young fawns are often left alone by their moms. The moms are usually not that far away watching them. I've seen young fawns dosing on doormats while the moms are watching from a shady spot.
I love the relationship you have with Joey. He asked for water and you accommodated.
I would given the dogs fresh water first before doing all the other stuff with the cows. Abby seemed very thirsty.
I usually dont comment on youtube videos.. however I wanted to tell you that watching your videos has really brought me a lot of comfort. Thank you
In Norway they are now doing a project with thermal cameras searching throug/over fields right before they are mowed/shorn to catch and remove the baby deer hiding in them. No farmer wants to accidentally harm or kill these young animals if they can avoid it, and new technology can really help (as you too doo with your drone herding:) )
'I'm going to leave you alone'
Disturbs it
YES! I didn't get that at all either! So I asked him about it in the comment I posted. I hope he gives us an answer.
It's probably a good idea to use your drone before cutting. I know they do this in Germany now. They go in with big buckets and take out the babies in those. The drone operator tells them exactly where they are. It needs a lot of people. They take some of the grass and they try to use gloves to not leave a scent. Lots of babies are killed by cutting grass every year, and now they use this technology to save them. Win-win.
Herding the cattle with the drone made my day 😂
Such a cute moment finding the little deer sleeping! 🦌 hahaha, Greetings from Jalisco Mexico
Lucky, too, for the fawn. Many die by being mowed…
Aww, a beautiful fawn what a sweet moment. So I guess this was the baby found on pasture? Thinking you still have at least one baby calf to be born, but maybe I'm wrong. Allison's garden looks really nice, it's amazing how fast it grows. Thanks for taking us along Morgan, all is well at Gold Shaw Farm!
🐄🦌🐖🌱🌿❤️👍
Great to see all the cattle together.
So glad you "spotted" the fawn and it's ok. Word is out in the forest that Gokd Shaw farm is the safest place to be (except hunting season)
It's ok Morgan, momma is close by. I have babies in my yard all the time, and momma is always near. Your cattle all look so happy and healthy.
Love the "herding by drone"...!!! 😂💛
I think you should get a couple of Alpacas. Why? They are good protectors, you can sell their hair, their poop has anti-weed growing properties. They poop in one spot for easy collection. If you want to change the place they poop, you just move all the poop to a new location then harvest 3/4 of it as fertilizer leaving the rest to move and collect later. The fact they spit is kind of cute, lol.
And they hum!
@@jennifergriffiths42 yeah, I know, I've been spit on before and grew up on and around farms. The smells and animals dont phase me like city whimps. Also, I know he has said it before, thankyou, I've been following for a while but that doesn't mean I cant remind him but thanks for the superfluous info.
I thought it was LLAMAS that were the good protectors. Alpacas are pretty dainty looking.
@@t.mcauley6970 Both are but Llamas are more mean natured in my experience.
On the bright side of hatching season going wrong this year, at least you don’t have any teenage geese who decide to have a wild party when your away and eat all the food in the pantry (hoop coop)
When you trim down the mulberries, you can sell the GSF cuttings! Just mentioning that because I bought some just last week from a Florida farm (similar weather as me).
If Bambi was a boy deer, why do we think of Bambi as a girl's name today?
Same reason blue and pink was switched between boys and girls
A lot of people don't even realize Bambi was a boy... I recall a classmate once exclaimed in shock that they never realized he was in fact male... No I doubt they watched the film :p Maybe they did once when they were very young or just know it through pop culture.
Lot of short names that end in a vowel tend to be girl names
Ashley/Leslie/Casey/Tony(i) is a boys name just as much as a girls name. I don't know why we need to put a gender with a name. It's just a name.
@@Prismaticlysmit’s handy to see a name and to know intuitively which gender that person is so that you can use the appropriate pronoun. That is of course until we had the latest wave of pronouns which are hard to keep track of.
Rather than brushhogging, have you considered making your own bales of hay from your field to feed them in winter? Might be a great self sustainability move!
I was wondering the same thing🤔Seems like a waste, not only of feed for you or someone could use it and your time and money going into fuel !
Maybe in theory a waste, but baking hay in itself is expensive with time and space and getting tools and employees to help get it all done in season. People can get really busy to the point that they look wasteful but they’re just prioritizing the very few hours they have each day
Back in the early 80s, I was a rep for Gallagher in New Hampshire.
I loved the idea of electric fence.
I went farm to farm explaining the new fencing technologies.
Randy: Hellooo ladies!
Joey: This water is not the best quality...ooo, CLOVER!
that bull is looking sacry mna, he has grown a lot, his song was actually incredible
What is "sacry mna" please?
@@PapillonOne "loking scary man" is what i meant, little typo there
My Colorado Native Plums that I planted 5-8 years ago have been a bit disappointing. Thought they'd be trees and give shade, but no, just bushes. This is their first year putting out plums though, and that's a nice bonus. They look just like yours - about the size and color of olives.
Hey Morgan, my regards to Tobbs & Abby 👋🏾👋🏾
Hahah that deer noise when she hopped away. Love the content. Cheers from Estonia
Glad you enjoyed it
Lol He is singing the song of lurve to his ladies!
Macho Man CC: "I'm here, you lucky ladies. Come and get it!"
Everything and everyone looks so happy and healthy. Good drone herding. Alison’s garden is coming along nicely. Thank you. May you all please take care and stay safe. Louisa. 👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️🤩🤩🤩
Abby’s side-eye while trying to have a drink of water….😂😅😂
Randy is a great singer.
This channel is my favorite.
If people don't want to be looking for bull testicles to distinguish the two males, the bull and the steer have different horn shapes. The bull's (Macho Man Randy Savage) horns are horizontal to the ground. Perfect for fighting another bull or savaging threats. The steer (Joey Ramone) has horns that are more upright, like a cow's.
Morgan, I'm a fan whoes been watchin' since the begin and so, I've also watched your skills and ideas for new and different equipment that you build grow and improve so much over the years and you've gotten so much better! And it fantastic because it all for the betterment of the lives of the animals and that's something very near and dear to my heart ♥ ...but I feel I have to say this years "happy cowmoblie" is coming up.and I think that's why your cows aren't respecting their fencing...their are more of them and there's significantly less shade beingoffered by the HCM so they;re finding their own. I have to admit when I first was it I was waiting for soming like extenting or folding arms to pus out the mesh the injust hanging....so in could still be easy for you to move but give more shade or something like that...the additions of the scratching brushes and the licking basket were great ...but the shade needs to extend more before the hieght of summer for their wellbeing and safety- you have white cows they need shade so they don't burn!!! they are especially susceptible as all white animals to sunburns. I don't mean to criticize, really I'm just concerned and want what's best for the animals health is literally my job....and because I know you can do amzaing thingsi for your animals out of love for them.
My cat loves watching you cows.
Our mulberries ripen at the end of May, so for years, I've made mulberry pie for my daughter for her birthday. There's nothing like fresh Mulberry pie, right out of the oven, with vanilla ice cream on top.
"Run Bambi, run for the thicket. Don't look back..."
Awesome video keep up the good work
Thanks for the visit
Nice deer
Thanks 👍
Wonderful video, Morgan! Full of good news and beauty scenery! Thank you!
Uh oh...some of that there technology herding... Seriously though, great idea to find the calves.
4:57 I can see you're sweating, it must be quite hot in Vermont, here in the UK I have been very cold, 14° right now and will drop another 2° in a few hours, I was in bed trying to stay warm, but unfortunately it's 5 30 pm I've got to get up. I wasn't sleeping or napping, just trying to get a bit warm but it didn't work 😮. I was waiting for my binge videos and it's here ❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
***** Oh yeah!!! you answered my question at 9:56 and its 32°, I like to sit in my car and knit as soon as the temperatures are above 19°, but 25° gets a bit too much for me and if I roll the windows down, it gets breezy. In no way the temps ever get to what they were in California 😮
If its this hot 32° at 10 am, it's going to be scorching after 11 30 😮ouch
Everything was so nice! The fawn was so cute, that was a surprise! Mulberries sound good, I've never ate one.
11:26 oh yeah this time keep the ducks n geese out of the hoop coupe 😂😂😂😂😂 remember what happened last time, they partied till you came home 😂😂😂😂
What an exciting farm!❗ I like every avenue of Morgan's adventure‼ What a beautiful baby fawn🤎💛
Thanks again for another great video Morgan…🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
I live in Kansas and I already have pumpkins growing!
"You must be terrified. I'll leave you alone." (2 seconds later) Bark bark bark yip yip yip! Ha!!! Too funny
@drumphil21 - Perhaps Morgan left the doe alone for a fair amount of time, but edited out the waiting time.
@@wendyweaver8749 I'm sure that was the case, but it was still funny.
We're about a month ahead on ripening fruit in SW PA. So far I've made black raspberry, strawberry-rhubarb, and currant-gooseberry jams. If you've got red currants, get some American gooseberry bushes. The combo of red currants & Pixwell gooseberries make some of the finest jams & pies, very tart.
oooo, yum, plums. I like them a smidge under ripe when their still nice and firm and a little less juicy. Oddly I'm the same with Nectarines. If your nectarines crunch like an apple they are perfect! ;) Thanks for the vide!
Such a cute fawn ❤
6:00 fellows, that doesn't work for us, I've tried..
🤣 ROFL 🤣
Great video. Morgan. You know your animals really well.
"Betty Rubble" LOVE ALL the names. :-)
Wow! The pigilies have really grown!
I love too see a mow of pasture every now and then. I would have considered asking someone close by to cut and bale it for you though. Would come in handy for winter.
doing tractor work like that is so zen. Years ago when I did that I was able to think out some plotlines of my favorite soap opera and figure out who was related.
Dude don't you have a framer close by that could cut and bale that hay for shares instead of brush hogging it down would beat a snowball this winter for feed
Our mulberries are 100-year-old trees?
We have both the dark purple and the white mulberries.
Morgan i just love you!!! You are just a great person and farmer. I always look forward to your videos...Cant wait till the next one!!!!!😊
Here's a question that's been plaguing me Morgan.
What do you think the animals on the farm call you? I'm thinking if Toby and Abby call you boss, I think Abby mistakenly calls you dad when she's excited 😂
For example, I watch you with my 13mo daughter, and we respectfully call you Mr. Morgan
i watch the videos with my teddy bears & teddy toby stuffy & we call him the farmer man or mr farmer ~
my 2 teddys can wear small dog clothes & they have plaid flannel shirts which we call their farmer shirts ~
they are sitting beside me right now ~
But the pig troughs up together like a feeding line they would go to the other trough if it’s right next to it
Nice!
Thank you! Cheers!
Thanks for sharing
4:30 "As an option" 😂😂😂
Aww Daddy they probably do have cold feet, cause it's been along while!😊😊😊
Thanks again Morgan......

Have you ever thought of getting a second hand bailer to make bales for the winter, you have so much grass thats going to waste otherwise an in the long run it will save you money
I grew up playing Sim Farm and we always double fenced because 2 is 1 and 1 is none.
Adorable deer Morgan
That's the first time I ever heard Macho Man do his bull call!
Where are the bins wrapped in Fly Paper for the Cows? Seems like the flies are at it again and are annoying the cows
Carmen Miranda is taunting you. I'm over here now. Come catch me, Morgan!
I think that, since you were stopping mowing for the day anyway, you should have left the fawn where it was, so Mom knows where to find it. We've been seeing a lot of that this year. Even in the suburbs, Moms leave their fawns in someone's fenced yard for the day, hop the fence, then come back to it in the evening or whenever they've eaten enough to sustain themselves.
Abby's mannerisms are sooooooo similar to my Aussie's - Luna. The way she approaches you, how she drinks, her mischievousness
Wonderful

poor deer, it must have been terrified.
Joey Ramone looks like he had highlights done at the Salon❤
I’m invested in the new herd arc Joey didn’t even know he had a sister not to mention a whole daughter
My favorite mulberry is yellow mulberries. I’m always surprised at the number of people that haven’t eaten a mulberry.
I hope you always keep one ear without a bud so you can hear what’s going on around you ❤
New camera? Lenses? This video looks very crisp. I don't know anything about cameras so anyone else know what's up. Whatever it is it looks fantastic.
Nice herd integration.
Joey Ramone is having a helluvabad hair day. Is that mud?
💖💖💖💖💖 U. This was great….
the momma deer did leave her baby somewhere safe, you wouldnt dare harm the little one
Morgan would never harm any animal! At least not on purpose.
@@rainerainegoaway9426your sentiment is correct, not your statement is not. Morgan raises animals for food. He doesn't always slaughter them himself, but he DOES make the decision that they will come to harm. I'm not at all judging him; I very much agree with his attitude of trying to make sure that his animals have a good life with one bad day.
However, he very definitely harms animals at times. Heck, he has said in the past that he hunts.
A better statement would be that he wouldn't harm an animal needlessly or without good reason.
Good morning !!! 🌹🌹🌹
Gas pump style hose nozzles.

Morgan, this is the first time I have ever seen this, but.....There is NO option TO LIKE YOUR VIDEO! It says 3.3K, but no thumbs up!
Have a box built around the main part 😅
Wow I’ve never been this early!
Abby ❤
Wow my mulberries have come and gone. Started around end of April and ended towards end of May. Georgia
We still have snow and frost in April.
I watched you mowing your tall grass as you said "you had more grass tham cows". I know you feed your cattle hay bales in the winter. Have you considered baling your own hay, or having it baled? It might ofset some of your feed costs. Its nice looking grass for feed hay.
Literally can't even imagine how many ticks are in that pasture ooof that would be annoying to deal with
Morgan...have you considered giving Abby herding lessons? Everytime you go in with the boys it scares me. When there hormones are wild they are so unpredictable. My father's life was saved by our German shepherd when he was out in the pasture with the cows and bull. The bull came after him and the dog held the bull off until Dad got to safety.
I know your afraid she will herd the birds but good training could prevent that.
Will the mother deer be able to find her fawn again?
It will lay down in the tall grass behind the fence, and come out when the doe calls.
Yes
Hey Morgan ... can you bale the grass for hay to feed the cows?
