Growing up in Southern California, my family attended Calvary Chapel in Laguna Beach in the early 70's. We were definitely a hippie family! Us girls wore long, straight hair and flowered skirts, and my dad had long hair which he tied back in a ponytail and he wore John Lennon glasses! I gave my life to Jesus and was baptized at age 11 in the Pacific Ocean. At our Calvary Chapel, we held services in a shed-like barn, sat on straw bales, with music consisting of acoustic guitars and our voices. We thought nothing of the young, hippie mamas sitting on those bales, praising Jesus and nursing their babies! Such beautiful memories...🩷 Such an awesome movement...✝️☝️
I was a new Christian in the early 80s-2nd generation Jesus movement. Driving around SoCal, listening to pastor Chuck ( and others), I was getting a Bible education. Plus the music, man! Y'all remember Terry Clark? 😎
I have always loved how the message of the Gospel is for the entire Globe. Loved seeing all the international letters that would come through the Word for Today in response to the teaching on Radio and tapes for so many years. Hello to New Zealand.
I worked for Chuck as a youth pastor for 4 years. I was the high school pastor when Brian was the Jr. High pastor. I loved working for Chuck, but he could be intimidating. He always treated me well, but he was such a strong personality. One of my favorite stories was once Chuck was going to introduce me to pray and he forgot my name, and he got it, then I want up to the pulpit to pray and said, "thanks Bob." Everyone laughed, but Chuck was never one to let that go and he walked up behind me and said, "I'm getting old, what's your excuse?" Everyone laughed again. When Chuck, started to preach we would all go to the back of the church and Romaine said, don't mess with Chuck, cuz he will always get the last word! Haha. I admired Chuck so much and one thing he did that I never saw another pastor do. He would always stay and talk to everyone who wanted to talk with him after church. One last thing, you said he was athletic and that is way understating it. I have never seen anyone pitch underhand fast pitch as well. I would never even try to play tennis with him and he could waterski barefoot! Thank you for sharing these family stories.
Gramps had an incredible memory but there sure were times where he’d mess it up lol I am glad you saw his athletic side. As an All American football in High school though he injured his knee, he kept playing. Totally competing lol
@@proclaimwithmeGod bless you and your family! I saw Jesus Revolution w my wife and it was really touching. Calvary Chapel has been a big part of our life. We live in Las Vegas.
@@proclaimwithmeBoth of you.....Awesome. Your heritage...Blessed. Both Truly a chip off the block. Remind me sooo much of Kay in All ways Soldier on. Will be in my prayers. 🤠🙏
Thanks for sharing, I got saved in Aug 71 there at Calvary chapel, at the one on Sunflower, got baptized at pirates cove. I just saw a picture of me there afterwards for the 1st time in 52 yrs. I stayed until the tent went up, then moved up north. I now attend a Calvary Chapel in Arcata Ca. God is so good and faithful!
I saw your Grandfather in 2013, He came to Calvary Fort Lauderdale and walked right by me, I was a Greeter at the door. This was such a blessing to get to see how Calvary evolved... I was out in LA in 69, but did not stay for long.
This is all from my time. My parents had a home in corona. When Pastor Chuck started that church we all wanted to go there but none of us knew exactly where it was. Then Greg Laurie opened Calvary in Riverside just minutes away for us. The old sanctuary was on a little hill, small but every service was jamb packed people standing outside. We went in one Sunday and found exactly what we were longing for. We heard Pastor Chuck preach many times, we’ve been to baptisms at pirates cove. We were baptized at Lake Perris. We were all on fire for Jesus.
I came across Chuck Smith's c3000 series in 2017. I am on my 4th time through the series. His teachings are timeless because the word of God is timeless. I do not attend a Calvary Chapel but I support one that has not strayed from Chuck's philosophy. I thank God for Chuck Smith's ministry and I look forward to thanking him personally in heaven.
My husband is a CC Pastor... My hubby and I come out of darkness, sin, and bondage... The Lord used Chuck Smith to open the door for us to step into the work God has for our life... He modeled to us to teach the word of God, word for word teaching the whole counsel of God.... We will forever be grateful to Chuck and Kay for remaining faithful to God and being used as a vessel to open the doors for God people.... So grateful for all of them.
At the end of the movie when they showed photos of your grandpa I was overwhelmed with emotion and I just thought well done good and faithful servant and how he finished strong. Tears rolling down my face realizing how much I miss him too! But even more seeing this movie and how pastor Chuck along with Kay were faithful and laid this foundation to be continued on to the generations! I was blessed to attend Calvary chapel, have my children go to MCA, and be part of a joyful life with Kay. I was also blessed to be on your grandparents tour bus in Israel in 1995. I will never forget the joy that beamed from his smile, and every time I would watch him teach I always felt that he knew something I didn’t. He knew Jesus in a way that was so intimate and I wanted to know more! Kay was so relatable it was so comforting. I miss them so much too! Thank you for sharing
"Everything is preparation for something else".... What a great story! Chuck baptized my wife and myself on the 7th day of the 7th month of 1987 at 7pm in front of 7 family members, exactly 7 miles from our home. Legacy is such a beautiful thing, like these two faces in this video!
I’ve seen the Jesus Revolution movie three times and think it’s amazing. I got saved at Calvary Chapel Chino Valley in 2002. Pastor Dave Rosales used to tell such great stories about Pastor Chuck and the start of the Calvary Chapel movement. I can’t stop watching videos about the movement and this one was one of my favorites. May the Lord continue to bless your family🙏🏼
I too, gave my life to Christ at Calvary Chapel Chino Valley! My friend invited me and Pastor David Rosales was the Pastor then as well, in 1993. Praise God that on May 19, 1993, God led me and has changed my life for this life, and for all eternity!!!
I got saved at Calvary Chapel in July 1971. It has been a journey, but I have never looked back. Seeing this video and the family legacy you two have shared is beautiful and a wonderful testimony . Thank you!
Pastor Chuck was my Pastor since I was 12. I wasn’t a hippie, too young! But loved the solid Bible teachings. I’m 68 now. Attended the the little church on Sunflower, big tent on Fairview and the building of the sanctuary that is there now. So much excellent teaching. Amazing memories, the camps, the music, attending seminary, baptisms in little Corona beach….and the recorded teachings now! Always full of instruction and inspiring intelligent way to live my live. Pastor Chuck has been my Pastor my entire life. Praise the Lord for this amazing man and his Family.
I was a kid around 12 yrs old in 1970. I saw things beginning to happen spiritually in the Bay Area in 68 and 69 and got saved and baptized and started playing guitar in church. My parents were helping young people, hippies, get off drugs and get saved out of Haight Ashbury in SF, and Berkeley. I never attended Calvary Chapel per se, but was strongly influenced by how they taught the Bible and of course, the music. Later, I moved to SoCal, and began taking people to the Harvest Crusades and saw so many people get saved through that ministry which is an extension of Chuck Smith's ministry. Seeing the JR movie brought back many memories of my own, but also I thought, we can't live in the past. We can remember it but we can't recreate it. I believe God may use this platform to once again transform lives and actually make it easier for us to share the gospel, but ultimately God's message through Chuck Smith is that through Jesus, we can be set free from the law of sin and death -Romans 8:1!
Super thankful about your comment. I just love how God's work isn't confined to one location or one avenue of ministry. What a legacy you have as well. I am so thankful that we can look back at these remembrance "stones" to remind ourselves how God is ABLE. His heart and love and Word lives throughout all generations forever. Funny, history after sometime as the years were going on, my dad, who ran The Word for Today, talked to gramps again about doing concerts at Calvary as they weren't as predominate. Gramps loved the idea and scouted out Pacific Amphitheater for this very venue. He brought on a number of guys like Mike MacIntosh, Raul Reis, Don McClure, Jeff Johnson and Greg Laurie to speak at the first Harvest Festivals. Later on, Greg, as a gifted evangelist, took this on and continues through to this day. Yes, looking back is an encouragement to look forward at the power and love of God to reach every generations from this time forward and forever more. May God strengthen you for a wonderful voice for His Gospel to this generation. Blessings.
My Momma listen to Pastor Chuck on the Radio after our family was saved in 1974. My Momma was baptized by your Gpa a few months later. I was 12 and remember Pirates Cove. When I saw the baptism scene I cried because that memory came flooding back. We attended Calvary for a few years then the Lord changed their path to a new ministry. Hugs to all Smith Family. It’s so wonderful to hear from you, (their legacy and blessing) God Bless!
Since Pastor Chuck's passing, as I continue to listen to The Word For Today, I can't help but remember him saying, "When you here of my passing, don't you believe it, I am more alive than I have ever been", referring of course to his presence before the Lord. Knowing this, as I listen to his recorded voice, I do not think of him in the past-tense, as he is very much with us, his teachings still minister through the Word and the present work of the Holy Spirit toward those who today listen to Pastor Chuck's sermons. What a legacy
Thank you for your special family story's. I was there in 1972 . Its what brought me to Christ when I was 16 . I'm still a Christian today . Thank you Chuck for opening your doors at home and at the church. God bless!
Love this, my wife found this video this morning. We used to listen to your grandfather on the radio but not so much anymore cause we don't listen to the radio anymore. We went to see the movie Jesus Revolution and since then we have dug into everything we can find on the internet. We are 65 yrs. young and my wife came to the Lord in 1969 at the age of 12 and myself in 1979. we believe it was the wave of the Jesus movement that God got us. What a ride its been full of blessings and trials. He's kept us all these years cause he is Faithful. God Bless you both and The Lord's continued blessings on your life. With Love , Mike and Hazel from the Great State of Maine
I really do appreciate these videos. As I grew up in Santa Ana and my first exposure to Calvary Chapel was at the little church on Greenville. Chuck was probably the most influential person in my life in the Lord.
After I became a Christian in 1980, I went to Calgary Chapel on Broadway in San Diego. It was in an old movie theater . Mike Macintosh was the pastor. It taught me how to study the Word of God before I moved back east. Thank you Lord for Chuck and his ministry! A wide net was cast, praise God.
Mike went to England with Foursquare then came back and pastored in Federal Way, WA. He had a brain tumor and passed away in 2007. His son, Jon, is now a pastor in Lompoc, CA at a Foursquare church. He was a great guy, miss him lots.
I miss Pastor Chuck myself, he was able to be who he was, in my opinion , he had a wife who listened to Holy Spirit. And he did too, power comes from standing with God. I love hearing what ever you want to share.
Thanks for doing this sweet video. I got saved in 1970 at the chapel on Sunflower. Praise the Lord I am thankful we have your grandpa’s studies available on line.
Thanks Vanessa and Anna to a very well done video. I came to Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa in 79' when I was 19 where I, like so many thousands of others, got baptized at Pirate's Cove at Corona Del Mar and then followed after Jesus. Chuck was "and I believe is still" one of Christ's anchors for so many tossed in the stormy seas of this life. Keep up the good work bringing back memories of those joyful days.
What a beautiful family!! I appreciate Chuck so much!! He was a shining light in my generation. There were so many times I heard his teachings and just contemplated on the beautiful truths of scripture.
I love the loving way these topics were discussed by these ladies. Chuck and Lonnie had some differences but these ladies recognise both we’re doing their best , understand, remember the good and don’t criticise. GBU
The Holy Spirit moved thur Pastor Chuck Smith and his foundation in the Word of God. It's beautiful to hear from the children and grandparents of Papa Smith. We will all reunion in Heaven 🏜️☝️😎📖❤️✝️🛐👑🇺🇲 SoCal ❤️ loves YOU!
What a godly heritage you both have. My parents and siblings came to know Jesus during this period of time in the early 70’s. My mom felt so blessed to have this godly heritage continue from then on. Jesus is the only way!
Love this. I first heard chuck on radio in 1979. The rest is history. My husband and I ended in ministry and volunteered in Israel. The seed grew. Now both chuck and my love are in heaven together discussing
You two seem like such sweet people, so full of grace. That’s a testament to the genuineness of the faith heritage you come from in that family. Thanks for sharing this. It was awesome.
I listened to Pastor Chuck's sermons on cassette while serving in mission work in my early twenties. He helped me grow in the Lord. From there I went to Bible school in Texas and eventually married my tent and overseas evangelist husband. I am forever grateful for your families reach. I was not aware Pastor Chuck was connected to Lonnie. Very blessed knowing you all have a perpetual part to play in God's move going forward.
I found Pastor Chuck on the Blue Letter Bible app probably about 12 years ago, through the audio sermons they have on each chapter of scripture. Then I went to the website and downloaded every-single one of his teachings from Genesis to Revelation plus a smattering of topical series, and I still listen to them this day. Praise Jesus for his passion to get the word out there. God bless!
Thank you for that. The book Harvest changed my life back in early 90's. I just read the Memior of Grace the Chuck jr. wrote it really had an impact on me. I have a bible that is signed by Pastor Chuck and he has taught me almost everthing I know about God's Word. You guys added some more of the pizzle pieces. Thanks again!
This was a very sweet story. Thanks for sharing it! Great to see how real Chuck Smith's and his wife's faith is, and to see it passed down generations to you!
Thank you for the stories. I was in the tent twice for Saturday concerts, left unsaved. The first time I saw Chuck Smith preach, was in the big sanctuary, and I walked out on him, left unsaved. One Sunday about 10 years after first being in the tent I gave my life to Jesus, and was baptized by my Pastor Chuck at Pirates cove.
I went to the paddle out for Pastor Chuck after his passing. It was overwhelming to see the number of people participating in the paddle out and the number of people, at least 10 deep, the whole length of the pier. Pastor Chuck was amazing and reached so many!
I was at Bible School and the seed of the JR was just starting. Larry Norman's Upon this Rock was released and I knew that a new wave was coming. I started a music library introducing many of the Church group I attended could listen to this the breed of music., that had albums from Love Song, Barry McQuire, Silverwind Honey Tree Don Francisco, and so many more. In the 80's I started a Christian music only music store which stocked world wide Christian music and many titles that came out of the Calvary ministry. Two phrases that were spoken we need to keep a tag on are ... "the pain of sin" and the "need to return to the first love". Nice to hear the reflections in this video,
Gee i coulld listen to you guys all day. I have hugged your Grandpa. Amazing person. I listen to Chuck's recordings several times a week. Stay Cool with Jesus. See yeah!
My Pastor,Chris Swansen was privileged to know your Grandfather Chuck and sit under his teaching. Now our family sits under Pastor Chris’s teaching at Calvary Chapel Chester Springs, PA. I remember listening to pastor Chuck as a new Christian in the 80’s. I loved it and grew so much in the knowledge of Gods word and walking it out in my life. I saw Jesus Revolution and cried through a lot of it. These are my people!!! I was a product of the generation that followed that movement. Pastor Chuck and Kay are now receiving the rewards of all their love and work spreading the love of Jesus ❤️I pray for a new revival to hit this generation again to return to the Lord 🙌
May the descendants of Pastor Chuck be filled with ALL the gifts & Full of the Holy Ghost & be an instrument of the Jesus Revolution TODAY! Tell us more about the GG Grandfather & Mothers Aristocracies? That sounds very interesting to come from wealth & power & WALK AWAY for the Cause of The Gospel!!!!!
Thank you for sharing It kindled memories of the first years of my ministry Surely ministry must be the transformation of lives And it should be in the now not what happened years back How nice to see Jesus doing the same thing today what he did in Pastor Chucks life amongst the hippies ❤️
I have started listening to Chuck Smith going through a bible study from Genesis to Revelation. I am enjoying it so much and have been so blessed by it. Especially the extra contextual information of history etc.
Thank you both for sharing just watched the video today Sep 27 2024 12:05 hrs. I am so grateful for people like you and all of your family. I became a Christian due to the out reach of CoConut Grove Community here in South Florida Miami area. My sister witnessed to me once using one of their tracts back in the late 1960s. The Coconut Grove Community grew into the Florida Bible College. I became Christian just believing and trusting in the gospel at the age of 13. Your story was so wonderful to hear. GOD BLESS Pastor Chuck Smith and all of his extended family.
A wonderful program. Thank you so much. I heard Chuck Smith preach one time at Biltmore Bible Church in Phoenix about 50 years ago, and the main thing I remember about him is that he had the most likeable face I had ever seen. He seemed totally filled with goodness and joy. What he said had such great authority.
Thank you for doing this video! I’ve been attending a Calvary Chapel Church for the last decade. It’s great to hear about it’s history, and how God has brought CC this far. Very refreshing! Looking forward to more! God bless!
God used Chuck Smiths preaching to save me when I was 21. In 1998. I lived in southern CA and would drive to work and hear him preaching on CSN on the radio. So thankful!
Pastor Chuck’s teaching changed my life. Genesis to Revelation stabilized my life and kept me on the path for over 50 years now. The ministry and success of Calvary Chapel was due to the example and teaching the full counsel of God through pastor Chuck. Teaching the word of God consistently is key to growth in Christ on all levels. Thank you again, for sharing and keeping the legacy of Pastor Chuck alive. 🙏
I have no great story. I just listened to KWVE from my calvinistic enclave in Escondido. Soon, I realized that Calvinism had it wrong and Chuck, J Vernon, Jon Courson had it right. Thank you for teaching me to be a better Christian, Calvary.
Calvary was also my refuge from both strict Arminianism and strict Calvinism. As a former traditional Pentecostal, Calvary South Orlando was the perfect balance.
Absolutely beautiful stories of your family, thank you for sharing!!! JESUS IS SO AMAZING, SO INCREDIBLY GOOD!!! My love and prayers are with you and all!!!🕊✝️💞
thank u for sharing. I remember Maranatha Village and went to LIFE 1976-80. Love your dad and grand pa and Greg listen to them as often as I can. Share more stories, your pa, g-pa was great at telling a story. I miss the beach, left Calif in 94-95 the great Quake, been in the desert among cactus since. Love from Phoenix. Beautiful kids and family.
Thank y'all for this back story❤ Such a blessing to see how each Smith generation is growing in such faith like your Grandparents. Would love to watch the documentaries of your Grandfather. God bless y'all
What an awesome family you have had the honor to be members of for so many years. After having watched the movie "Jesus Revolution" several times I have been taken back to the early 1970s not realizing that it ever happened and only remember people being called Jesus Freaks. But I do remember the Doobie Brothers singing Jesus is Just Alright and then others came out with Jesus' songs too with the new genre Jesus Music. But, with college and Vietnam I was distracted. But I did marry a Hippie girl that looked a lot like Kathe in the movie too. It is great that you two shared so much about the background of you family and you have soooo much to be grateful for as you are Truely Blessed.
Hello, I just wanted to say, I remember a while back hearing about your Grandpa passing away. I was sad to know Pastor Chuck was no longer with us. He was a true contemporary, visionary and servant. He and his wife did go out and do "The Great Commission as Jesus Commands. He will always be remembered as the one who put Calvary Chapel on the map... for those who needed true Peace, Love, and Salvation.
@@proclaimwithme again question now that Mike kistler is in charge of CSN I was always wondering if Chuck Smith and Mike Kessler got along and if Chuck Smith at actually chosen Mike Kessler to take over his Calvary movement ?
Vanessa! Thank you for sharing this clear history of your family and of Calvary Chapel. You have explained it exactly how Pastor Chuck always shared with us and also the way I actually experienced it from the years I started attending Calvary Chapel (circa 1977). Glory to God!
Love this video and the memories. I was dedicated as a baby and baptized by your grandpa. Eternally grateful. I saw the movie yesterday and I had to go and find some RUclips videos to look up to reminisce some more. Calvary church costa mesa was my church growing up. My mom always played volleyball on Sunday. I went to Maranatha Christian Academy and I was friends with you Vanessa in second grade I remember you. miss bombola. I think. Thanks for posting this. ❤🙏🏼
God bless you guys for sharing! I was dedicated to the Lord by Pastor Chuck as an infant in 2003 and my dad is always reminding me of how what he prayed during my dedication has been coming to fruition ever since. I never knew Pastor Chuck personally but I thank God for the impact he had in my life at a very young age.
This is an awesome video. Thank you so much for sharing. It's so nice hearing from the family of Chuck and Kay. Nobody has a perspective like family. Thank you again.
I enjoyed this video. How wonderful for you to come from such a great family with a rich, Christian heritage. Thank you for taking the time to make the video!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing!!! I really enjoyed hearing the more in depth stories of your grandfather and grandmothers journey. They have been a huge influence in my life and still are. Bless you both. ❤
I absolutely loved Pastor Chuck & Kay. Anytime my travels took me near Costa Mesa, I’d try to go hear Pastor Chuck teach the word. He changed my life, pointed me to Jesus. I was blessed to get to know Chuck, he was such an encourager. I still have my Pastor Chuck Bible Study cassettes stored away, I now listen to his teachings online or my MP3 discs. I have the original series 2000 CD MP3 set Chuck gave me before they came out. I just ordered a few things from TWFT. I loved Chuck, Kay, and I love you guys. You both have a beautiful spirit, God bless you, and the entire Smith family. Greg Martin The Kentucky HeadHunters
I wanted to meet Chuck Smith when he came to Farmington and he made himself available so I was in the line to meet him and he gave me a big smile and signed my bible.
Love how God used my grandparents to mentor and encourage so many lives that in turned started their own churches and ministries. God's way of multiplication.
If you want to know the true story of the transition with Pastor Chuck and My grandparents who were the original pastors of CCCM starting in 1961, I can tell you. It's the story only a few know but no one talks about. Floyd and Lois Nelson were my grandparents and it was my grandmother who during prayer heard from the Holy Spirit "Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa." And the church was named. I would love to talk with you and share the beginnings before Chuck arrived. I have an early church directory from 61 or 62 that I would love to show you.
Oh wow Vanessa!!!!! We stumbled on this video and it is so beautiful mother & daughter did this video🥰 A few things had me crying! The fact Kay saw the needs of the kids & prayed for them plus she asked a lot of questions and was adopted I kinda broke down. There picture together just perfect❤️ A great example of a loving Christian marriage:) So cute how Lonnie Frisbie and your aunts boyfriend were trying to convert each other hitch hiking 😂 Died laughing at that! But the main thing is how your grandfather taught the Bible to people like hands on learning or homeschooling. In my opinion preaching has been done and recorded by him in his free “The Word for Today.” Now it’s all about testimonies which is what Jesus said so this video is perfect and amazing! Thank you for telling us stories and recording the history😘😘😘
Hello pretty ladies! What a wonderful surprise oh, I was looking for something to listen to while I was doing dishes late tonight dishes. And there you are right in front of my face! I am so glad you did this, and I especially like that it wasn't polished or edited. Thank you I'm giving some background to what really happened what really transpired. I'm so glad you have that photograph of the original Calvary Chapel. I was baptized there 1968 in the baptismal. There was a beautiful mural of the Jordan River. I went by there a few years ago and took a picture but it didn't look as nice as a photograph you have. So many precious memories. Vanessa, well you were speaking, words that you said and your expressions looked just like your Grandma! One of the last times I saw you, I shared that I believed you had her anointing. The tender way you speak of the Holy Spirit. Tears flow. Your family was such a witness to us as you faithfully visited your Grandma , your family singing to her and encouraging her in Jesus. I love how you both shared. I hope you continue the conversation, as well as share your life. Families need the encouragement through your family's ministry. I love you all very much. Can't wait to share with my daughter and granddaughters. Maranatha!🙏🦋🕊
Oh Lisa, your family was such a blessing to mine. Thank you for all the years you supported Grams. Praying for you and that God will bless you abundantly. May we finish our course with Joy like my grandma.
Great Job Vanessa. Our family still listen to Chuck most nights. My daughter turned 10 October 3,2013 the day Chuck went to heaven. I remember every encounter with Chuck especially when he baptized me and when my wife and daughter had chocolate in his office. Say hi to Eddie for me. I miss him very much. I will never forget the joy that beamed from his smile, and every time I would watch him teach I always felt that he knew something I didn’t. He knew Jesus in a way that was so intimate and I wanted to know more! Kay was so relatable it was so comforting. I miss them so much too! Thank you for sharing
Thats awesome. What sweet memories!

They are a blessing to be under for sure. So many godly men were anointed and inspired to carry on the Great Commission. Blessings
I too, gave my life to Christ at Calvary Chapel Chino Valley! My friend invited me and Pastor David Rosales was the Pastor then as well, in 1993. Praise God that on May 19, 1993, God led me and has changed my life for this life, and for all eternity!!!
Thank you Ladies❣️I was saved in 1968, Halleluia ❣️The movie was fantastic, I’m praying for another Jesus Revolution ‼️😀🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻👍🏼❤️❤️❤️
Praying too.
That's beautiful! I've been to Maine it's gorgeous! You can still listen to Pastor Chuck at Pastorchuck.org! God Bless
My children loved your grandpa. He used to come out at lunchtimes at school and talk to the kids. Such a light in their lives for years and years!
Chuck Smith baptized me in the ocean as a teen!
Thanks for sharing - absolutely beautiful - made me cry
I really do appreciate these videos. As I grew up in Santa Ana and my first exposure to Calvary Chapel was at the little church on Greenville. Chuck was probably the most influential person in my life in the Lord.
After I became a Christian in 1980, I went to Calgary Chapel on Broadway in San Diego. It was in an old movie theater . Mike Macintosh was the pastor. It taught me how to study the Word of God before I moved back east. Thank you Lord for Chuck and his ministry! A wide net was cast, praise God.
Hey so did i!!!!!!!😂😂😂😂i then moved to Calvary in encinitas!!!!!
Mike went to England with Foursquare then came back and pastored in Federal Way, WA. He had a brain tumor and passed away in 2007. His son, Jon, is now a pastor in Lompoc, CA at a Foursquare church. He was a great guy, miss him lots.
WONDERFUL!
I remember listening to Pastor Chuck as a 17 year old Navy girl in San Diego in 1980. I just wish I had been able to go up to the church.
Great chat, Vanessa I always thought you had such a beautiful spirit and you still do🙏🏼💝 April from MCA days
Thanks so much. Blessings
Thank you
Amen! Jesus is the Way! Eyes on Jesus!!!
What a godly heritage you both have. My parents and siblings came to know Jesus during this period of time in the early 70’s. My mom felt so blessed to have this godly heritage continue from then on. Jesus is the only way!
Amen
Wonderful stories about two people I dearly loved. Thanks for sharing.
Love this. I first heard chuck on radio in 1979. The rest is history. My husband and I ended in ministry and volunteered in Israel. The seed grew. Now both chuck and my love are in heaven together discussing
Aww Heaven holds so many of those who I love. Blessings. Love that you were in Israel.
You two seem like such sweet people, so full of grace. That’s a testament to the genuineness of the faith heritage you come from in that family. Thanks for sharing this. It was awesome.
Thank you. Our grandparents were genuine lovers of God and people and family.
Just FYI - I'm old & listened to Pastor Chuck on the radio! Loved his teaching - so strong!
Thanks for your kind comment, it is wonderful to hear people faithfully walking with the Lord,
Blessings!
Another brother from New Zealand, thank you for taking the time and sharing, I really enjoyed
I love this!!! You girls did a great job! So fun and informative!
Thanks for the encouragement
How blessed you are to have such a rich spiritual heritage!
Yes, so true.
Nice to hear the reflections in this video,
Praise God. We need more old school Vinyls.
I had all those too! Wish I could find in my parents house.
Amen
Really great to hear about your Grandparents. Thanks and blessings!
Thank you so much!
Just FYI, Your JOY & Beautiful Smile is Infectious! I LOVE it!
Thanks
Thank you for sharing
It kindled memories of the first years of my ministry
Surely ministry must be the transformation of lives
And it should be in the now not what happened years back
How nice to see Jesus doing the same thing today what he did in Pastor Chucks life amongst the hippies ❤️
God bless you both! Keep the messages coming. Keep your grandparents top-of-mind! Don't hold the Holy Spirit back! Be hold and exclaim the Lord!
YES!! We love these talks & stories.
I have started listening to Chuck Smith going through a bible study from Genesis to Revelation. I am enjoying it so much and have been so blessed by it. Especially the extra contextual information of history etc.
Thanks for sharing!
Love hearing these stories! I attended CCCM from the tent days until 2000. I miss Chuck and am so glad he left so much recorded teaching.
Me too! Blessings
Thank you so much for this. God bless you. You made me cry..."return to your first love.."
Thank you for sharing! God Bless you!
I use to listen to your grandpa while driving to court daily. Wow. I learned so much
So thankful he is still on the radio, and on Pastorchuck.org
I am so very thankful that my baptism was performed by Pastor Chuck! Thankfully I can still listen to Pastor Chuck every morning on KWAVE 107.9.
Glad you did this! It’s important!
Thanks for sharing. You guys need to do more of this sharing to encourage more of the body! Amen!
Yes indeed. He was such a visionary and God blessed their faithful love and service to him
@@proclaimwithme again question now that Mike kistler is in charge of CSN I was always wondering if Chuck Smith and Mike Kessler got along and if Chuck Smith at actually chosen Mike Kessler to take over his Calvary movement ?
@@jesuslovesyou5384 Grandpa never appointed a successor to the Calvary movement.
I remember Miss Bombola’s class, great memeories!
@@proclaimwithme your dad dropped you off to play with me at Fairview Green Apartments on Fairview. Great memories
Thank you that means a lot. Blessings
Thank you for sharing your beautiful stories. How touching that your grandparents made a substantial impact on your lives.
I enjoyed this video. How wonderful for you to come from such a great family with a rich, Christian heritage. Thank you for taking the time to make the video!
Thank you ladies. That was so good to hear from you. Blessings

Love that teaching series. PastorChuck.org is great resource as well
I wanted to meet Chuck Smith when he came to Farmington and he made himself available so I was in the line to meet him and he gave me a big smile and signed my bible.
God bless you. I heard of the Jesus movement back in 1993 and started to follow Chuck around 2008 … thanks to Greg Laurie who spoke of him often
You summed up my heart for this video too. Thanks for your encouragement and inspiring words. Blessings
Pastor Chuck baptized my brother in 1977. My brother is on the front of Time Magazine with Pastor Chuck.
Thank you for what you’ve shared. More of this would be a blessing to hear. I’m sure your memories and stories are abundant.
Aww thanks!
I really enjoyed hearing you gals talk about this! What a blessing it is to have such a great heritage! Blessings!
Yes! Thank you!
Thank you both for the family background information and godly encouragement. Praise God!
The movie Jesus Revolution was so awesome !! Praise God for that
Hello pretty ladies!
Fred and Ruth Waugh need to be Honored in ALL this! They are (Ruth recently went to Glory) amazing Saints
Heaven is getting filled with wonderful saints every year! Can't wait to one day meet them all!
Very true! I just know they were 1 older couple that opened their house to all the kids & were very involved with your grandfather at CC Costa Mesa!
I love this! Thank you! will take all the information you can give me!
Thank you for sharing!!!
thank you for this. you two are delightful 💝
John and Adriana from Calvary Chapel of the Harbor.
Hi guys. Good to hear from you. I will tell Eddie. Blessings.
