Greg and Cathe Laurie on 'Jesus Revolution', Their Love Story, and a New Jesus Revival

- Millions of people worldwide have now seen "Jesus Revolution," the movie inspired by the late 1960s and early 70s Jesus Movement. It takes viewers back to the time when thousands of hippies put down their drugs, picked up their Bibles and followed Jesus. It's also the story of two young people who met, fell in love and became pioneers of the Jesus Movement.
That couple, Greg and Cathe Laurie, who celebrate 50 years of marriage next year, never dreamed that part of their life would one day be featured on the big screen.
"Well, I'm really surprised by how it just connected with so many people. I think one of the unique features of this film is that it's a multi-generational movie, like I've heard so many stories of the grandparents, the parents, and the kids and even the grandkids coming and all of them connecting to some aspect of the movie because there's so many stories woven together," Greg said.

The scene of first meeting between Lonnie and Pastor Chuck was powerful and emotion evoking.
Except chuck was nothing like Kelsey Grammer who is odd and awkward, Chuck had a 1000 watt smile and a God-given charisma and charm and could talk to anyone

Watched it last night with my wife the fellowship we were saved in 30 years ago was born out of the Jesus revolution in 1970 our head pastor did exactly the same thing in Arizona that Pastor Chuck smith did in California he embraced the hippies of course there were religious people in the church that left because of it but that was a good thing because they would have hindered revival our mother church exploded in growth full of hippies much like in the movie out of that movement we have grown to over 3000 churches all over the world in over 150 nations with a focus on the preaching of the gospel to sinners to convert them to a relationship with Jesus Christ God is powerful and will and is pouring out His Spirit on the earth
This whole movie and story are amazing,powerful and beautiful,finally some nice story with kindness positivity and some hope,beautiful,even i as a muslim was touched by this whole amazing story.❤

If you haven't watched the movie JESUS REVOLUTION, you are missing out. In my humble opinion, it is one of the best movies ever. Confession time : I've watched the movie about 20 times, and never get tired of it.

I was excited about the movie the first day I saw the trailer in like, January or February. We got to watch a bunch of clips from It at our church camp on the beginning of July, and me and a bunch of people in my life group actually wanted to see people getting baptized in the lake there (didn't happen tho) and me and a bunch of the girls in my group actually think there's going to be another movie like this is 20+ years about us. I finally got to watch the movie the first time a few days ago with my friend and cried. I seriously see connections from then now as a 16 year old going into 10th grade and I think it's starting again and I'm actually excited to see what God's gonna do I the next few years.

I want nothing to do with a "New Jesus". The biblical Jesus is who I have, who I want and who I need more of.
I have listened to a few Calvery Chapel teachers like Amir Tsafarti, and what he preachers and teaches is consistent theology of what John passed onto Polycarp and believed by the early church.
Nope, what ur seeing In that film is just Jesus. If Jesus came back today his so called “ followers” would reject him and call him a communist, similar to what ur doing.

I think a Lonnie Experience would be awesome to show the power of the Holy Spirit.

Lonnie was a blessing, but I would hesitate to call a work of God a Lonnie experience
And a thought... nterestingly part of the work of Jesus is a verse from Leviticus inscribed on the Liberty Bell. It's a very honorable thing, it's good to strive for, the year of Jubilee seen in Isaiah 61 and Luke 4 read by Jesus. But we can't bring the freedom and liberation Jesus can. Maybe that's why God let the Liberty Bell crack... good though.. but we can't do the work of Jesus... only Jesus bring the liberation, the healing of the broken hearted and the freeing of the captives. In Ps 146 147 We can try but it's a God sized thing and that's why liberty in the deepest sense ifs part of the work of Christ. Jesus does God sized things.
If there is a continuation of the current Revival which we are in by the way.. As has been stated by Lance wallnau now and other prophets.. We must reinstate Christian thinking into the seven mountains of culture.. Which the original Jesus movement that the movie portrays stopped short of doing.. Those seven mountains of culture are the family the church entertainment medicine Big Business Media the school system.. that's pretty close I may have gotten one wrong but you understand what the point is. There was a time when no Movie Maker would have been allowed.. And some of them would not even have considered putting evil into their movies the way it is done now.. And that is just an example of one mountain of culture

Please don't take this the wrong way, but when I watched the movie, I felt like Frisbee and Kelsey Grammar's character were the main characters. I think the writers or directors needed to do a better job focusing in on Greg.

I went to school with Greg, he was not in the forefront of the Jesus movement
He only became prominent when Chuck put him in charge of the harvest crusades
So he was prominent with the harvest crusades, though not the Jesus movement
God primarily used Lonnie and Chuck in the Jesus movement

First of all, whoever thought it was a great idea to cast awkward. Odd Kelsey Grammer as Chuck?
If you knew chuck, he was the opposite of awkward and odd
Had a thousand watt Smile, was comfortable talking to anyone, had God given extreme charisma and charm
Whoever did the casting for this movie should be shot
And Lonnie was childlike and simple, blonde and slight, pretty much the direct opposite of the ungodly actor portraying him
Superbad casting, but nobody would know any better unless they had lived through it like a lot of us have
Greg wasn't even part of the Jesus movement
He did start the harvest crusades in the '80s, but by that time the Jesus movement was over

I'm from the time and I was totally unaware of anything that was happening - in Romans 8:28 the Greek word for works together is synergy which is the English word meaning Symphony and though I was unaware of what was happening in the late sixties early seventies the Holy Spirit put all of those pieces together at different times from different places and I realize that the Holy Spirit is not a system of theology - basically God bankrupted heaven when He gave away His Son for FREE to die a lonely death nailed on that cross for us - that does not make any sense - God's love does not make any sense - that's why it's by His grace through faith alone - the Holy Spirit is not a system of theology all the while being trained in the latter while being told we need to repent and return to the former
But why did they choose Kelsey Grammer, who always plays an awkward odd character, as Chuck Smith?

Kelsey Grammer was nothing like Chuck, Chuck was comfortable no matter where he was at or who he was with, he had a thousand w smile for all of us
